The Waitakere birth unit was incredible. The on site midwives and doctors were so present, knowledgeable, attentive and reassuring. Making our birth experience as good as it could be.
The rooms had everything available which we needed.

I had a Mirena operation yesterday, everything was good with very good quality, thank you Doctors, thank you nurses, except the Anesthetist, I had black spot on the top of my hand, incorrect position for the Anesthetiser to use ! What he was thinking at that time . I had a terrible pain not from the surgery but from the black spot on my hand.
c.
Everyone that treated me were all really great. Long waiting hours but seen as quick as can be seen.

Had a wonderful experience with doctor and nurses. Had a broken toe and was treated there. Helpful and understanding, kudos to the warm and inviting people who work there. My doctor was the best, he has a great sense of humour and I couldn’t feel the pain when he was fixing the displaced toe back in place!

I would just like to thank the nurses and Doctors that looked after me today .
They were very caring and totally professional , and I was so impressed on how they handle every thing especially with this whole covid thing .
Thankyou so much for your care

This hospital and its nurses are amazing. So caring! Nothing too much trouble. Maternity ward fabulous. So lucky we have this hospital. A brother near death, and now daughter in maternity. They are brilliant!

Any experience we have, can be improved on - and this is no less true when one finds themselves at a hospital. Nurses, doctors, orderlies, kitchen staff - too many to count - work long hours, long shifts and help many, many people. If you find yourself here as a patient, then you're blessed. You are in GOOD hands here. Big shout out to the collective teams in Orthopaedics, CT Scanning and Waiatarau Mental Health Unit. Stellar work. ❤️👍And yes parking can be a challenge. Like all the other busy hospitals in Auckland.
T.
The nurses are very supportive and kind always making sure you are well look after.
K.
Lots of renovations at present. Parking easy to find during Level 3 Lockdown. Wheelchair accessible carparks and entrance.

Although it was a long wait because there was only one doctor and possibly only one nurse on, they were amazing, caring and sympathetic to my situation. I have no complaints. There was also a male nurse there who gave me a pain free injection after I was scared to get one, I was impressed by his sense of humor and skill ! Keep it up guys x
A.
Staff were very helpful. Such a shame you have to pay to park after 20 free minutes! Robbing sick people who cant afford it!
C.
Absolutely amazing nurses and team, so helpful and caring. Especially the surgical unit
d.
Staff are friendly and helpful but they dont have a hoist on the children's ward so lifting a patient in and out of a wheelchair is a mammoth task. Why cant the hospital buy a mobile hoist instead of borrowing one from another ward that is always busy? This lack of equipment puts the staff and patients at risk of injury.

Amazing staff and facilities for maternity ward te henga. Staff in SCBU is also very helpful and attentive. Keep spreading love as you do. Highly recommended.

Recently had our third child and it was a complicated birth as his shoulder got stuck while he was coming out. The emergency alarm went off and all the midwives, doctors and nurses rushed in as our son wasn't breathing . They tried to keep my wife and I calm as he wasn't breathing for over 2 minutes and they kept doing cpr/pump while our hearts were about to explode with so many emotions inside my head. After their restless effort he let out a loud cry and both my wife and I could breathe again as we thought we lost him. Can't thank the staff enough for saving him. Thanks to you guys we can watch him smile in his sleep. keep up the good work 👍
A.
Great nurses and doctors considering the usual long waits in ED.
D.
Took my daughter to emergency at Waitakere hospital today. Fantastic experience - saw nurse Jessie and Dr. Natalie both were compassionate & caring. In fact everyone we met including the nurse out front & reception were great. Got to be the cleanest best organised emergency dept I've been to. Thanks Waitakere - we are so grateful for your help
B.
Great team at maternity ward. We chose this hospital for our baby’s birth and have no regrets. Can’t thank enough.
T.
Nurses and doctors at surgical outpatients were absolutely astounding! Thankyou team ☺

I had to go to Emergency at Waitakere today and just wanted to say that all the staff I dealt with were friendly and efficient. I was there for about 3 1/2 hours and had initial consult, xrays, fitted with moonboot, and sent home with prescriptions plus followup plan.
TBH, I had read some of the google reviews before going so was not expecting a good experience but was proved wrong. Also while I was in various waiting areas, I noticed nothing but kindness from the staff towards the patients.
I hope I never have to go to Emergency again, but if I do, I'll be going straight to Waitakere Hosp.

I was in so much pain and the doctors were obviously busy trying to push through the customers, they seemed very disconnected from every interaction I had and didn't seem to listen well but my 4 stars go to majority of the lovely nurses I had! I was put in the ADU ward and the nurses were so compassionate and caring, I can't remember a couple of the nurses names who I'd like to point out but one was Sarah who was with me overnight and Pamela the morning after! These ladies along with the nurses who dealt directly with me were amazing, overly caring and
I couldn't be more grateful ❤

Amazing, friendly and supportive team, who make the whole process so much easier and pleasant in a time of need. Modern, nice and clean facilities too.
C.
The nurses, doctors, and everyone are efficient, courteous, professional and especially my mom’s cardiologist, he is excellent, very informative, very professional, very kind, and compassionate, and best of all very decisive, and very efficient .I deeply appreciate their wonderful service!

3 stars based on 2 out of the 3 visits I've had here. One for my son (with the fantastic Dr Susan Root) about 6 years ago. One in ED about 4-5 years ago, as I had stomach pains. Both of those experiences were pretty good with great experience. Unfortunately my experience having my son there (in the maternity dept) was terrible and I would NEVER go there ever again to give birth (went to the far better Auckland hospital later). Nurses were unhelpful and super rude and doctor wasn't that great either...To be fair this was 12 years ago - so I gave 3 stars based on my other 2 experiences and the hope that surely the maternity unit would be a lot better since my time there..

Had appointment 18 September 2019 at Surgical Unit for Gastro procedure. From the warm friendly welcome received at arrival, this continued with all staff, some were involved in my procedure whilst others were involved in many other things but all were being friendly, caring and respectful during my approx 3 hours in their care. My sincere thanks to all staff and very much appreciated.

Easy to find. Plenty of parking.
Attending for an outpatient clinic is made easier because the letter gives entry guidance and directions. The reminder txt ensures I don't miss my appointment.
On this occasion I was met by two on-to-it ENT/ORL team members. Pleasant, professional - and very capable listeners. (A problem encountered with other team members at this facility - some even forget to ask questions, much less, listen to the response).

I would like to pass on my thanks for the fantastic care I received yesterday 3rd August. I arrived 4am-ish after having chest pains and was through reception into Emergency within 5 minutes and hooked up to a monitor. Lovely nurses, student nurse, orderlies and doctor.
I was sent later in the day to the assessment/cardiac ward for a treadmill workout and x-rays to make sure my heart was ok.
All staff were very kind and professional.
Thank you again.
A.
Good people good service, left lights on & car wouldn't start. The man in the traffic office helped us straight away. If anyone ever gets a flat battery go straight there. They are super friendly.
M.
Great service and fantastic staff. Professional and personable from the moment we arrived, which luckily was a pretty quiet time of the morning.
Triaged and admitted to the wars within 5 minutes, and seen by a duty nurse, trainee nurse, doctor and consultant within an hour.
m.
The wait can be about 6 hours to be seen, and a decision made as to if you are going to be discharged, admitted, or transferred, keep this in mind.
Also that even though the waiting room can be empty it is busy outback, and it is not first come first served, but based on priority care.
Be respectful of all the staff, and they will return the favour.

My premature baby girl received excellent service 6 years ago in SCBU. Truly professional, amazing care. Will never forget their dedication and inspiration to the job. Parking is just too dear tho.

I was registered to give birth at Birthcare Parnell at first, but because Baby was overdue, I had to give birth in Waitakere Hospital instead, which I was a bit disappointed about at first. But all the nurses and midwives there (special mention to Nikky, Wendy and Rebecca) made my stay so special, that I'm actually very grateful I gave birth at Waitakere Maternity. I actually even refused to post-natal transfer to Birthcare as I was feeling really good at Waitakere ;-) The only extra-mile details missing to get a 5-stars rating would be perhaps the food, and more training about your baby daily cares, especially for 1st-time parents...

I came here 2 weeks ago after a nasty fall. Nurse in charge (Dianne) seemed to have a hunch straight away as to the type of injury that had occurred. After X-rays confirmed the damage, I was put in a cast for transportation to North Shore for an operation. Excellent care from nurses.
V.
Big thanks to midwife Vicky/Vikki. You were so helpful during my stay here after giving birth. You were like a second mum, always so on to it and bubbly in nature. Thank you so much.
J.
I was very impressed, friendly, empathetic staff and medical professionals after receiving care here.
M.
It's a hospital... lol. All depends really on who you see and how many hours they've already been working as to if it's a nice experience or not. Been here many times whilst pregnant, post pregnancy and with my children since. The food is nothing grand, so if you have a chance take plenty of snacks (there is a small cafe on site, dairy/bakery across the road). No WiFi.

Took my 6 year old son and Staff were amazing :) Tried making him smile and his highlight was seeing Police Officers who were pleasant enough to take time to talk to him.Definitely cheered him up.
A.
My son went in on the 28th August with a concussion. The staff were very friendly and performed there duties beyond expectations. Well done and thank you.

My Dad had a stroke and they were superb helping my Dad. I was rather impressed with them helping me to understand what had happened to Dad and what I could do to prevent or minimise the risk of him having a stroke again.
