I responded to hospital due to adverse heart health. Pre-entry Covid questioning mandatory. Immediately seen in ED and transferred to an assessment area. Polite, friendly and helpful staff throughout my experience, who have to deal with a lot of emergency variety in their stride, at any one time. On-transferred to Coronary Care ward, where patient care and attention was nothing short of first class. Always treat and respect others, as you would like to be treated and respected...

Just had an operation in Tauranga hospital, all the staff were amazing and supportive! This was the fist surgery I’ve ever had in my life, and due the the short notice( basically less than 24 hours, could be a cancellation from someone else so I got the spot) from the hospital, I was very anxious and unprepared. Thanks to the amazing anesthetists who helped to make sure the whole operation went safely and successfully. And the amazing surgeons who operated on me even though I couldn’t remember any of you because I was put to sleep but you guys did an awesome job. Last but not least, there was an amazing nurse who looked after me after the surgery, I can not thank you enough ( sorry I could not remember your name because I was so dizzy after waking up from the surgery, but I tried really hard to read your name badge when you were helping me walk around to get rid of the gas in my chest)! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you to Rachel, Vicki, Abby and every single team member that worked today 5 November on the surgical floor. Everyone was so professional, helpful and friendly. It is incredible to experience this kind of wonderful treatment and kindness.

Had surgery, I would love to thank all the nurses and crew of ward 34b. Amazing people for looking after me so well. Thanks to all.

What an amazing first time experience in a new country giving birth for the second time. I was so happy to receive the best care from the maternity ward. The nurses were all very positive, helpful and caring. They assisted me in a dignified manner from before I went into theater for my c-section right through to the last day in the ward. I could distinctly tell the difference between my first birth experience and my second one and by far this was the best experience! Thank you for making me feel so special and for showing me that there are truly people out there who are passionate about what they do. I appreciate you!!
I do however feel that the food offered to patients was not as nutritious as I would have thought it would be, especially for breastfeeding moms. Perhaps this could be improved a bit. Hospital food is generally not meant to be very tasty, but I do believe it should be nutritious at least.

Hard to get parking space early in morning, parked further down the road. Had no trouble visiting patient and hospital have all day visiting hours excellent.

Went in today for minor surgery and I have to say that I am IMPRESSED with my experience. Thank you team. To all the staff (nurses, obstetricians, anesthetists and more) that treated me today - I take my hat off to you and sent a MASSIVE thank you.
Kindness, courtesy, consideration professionalism and big warm smiles are all the words I'd use to explain today's experience.
We are in safe hands Tauranga.

I was born here and it's been getting more disppointing the more I live because of the lack of staff and time management, people are waiting hours for a doctor but can't get any
P.
I really don't know where to begin, the experience was so awful.
The staff were lovely but the system is SO bad. So archaic, so understaffed and the ED too small for the growing Tauranga population. I have been told there is an 'Old boys' type of management. And a toxic management. Well I would say it is time for a major change. I was referred by my GP, who had rung through first to make sure someone could see me, I was in considerable pain. But on arrival you are put on the list with all the walk -ins. I was told you only jump the list if you are dying. I was encouraged to write this review by a nurse. We were in ED for 9.5 hrs, it was 7 hrs before I was seen.

I cannot express my experience here well enough. The Doctors and nurses of ward 3B were outstanding and professional. I have been to several different hospitals for numerous procedures and I’ve got to say that Tauranga was the best so far. Big shout out to Bex, Jess and Daniel (amongst the rest of the incredible nurses - sorry just having trouble remembering names) you made my stay just that little more pain free. I have huge respect for the staff that was in my care for the duration of my stay. And YES the food was great!!

Recently (October 2021) I was referred to Tauranga Hospital Gynaecology Department for an operation. Every step of the procedure was done extremely professionally - from the information sent in the mail to phone calls made pre-operation. At every level we encountered caring and efficient staff and nurses and Dr Katie Gunning and her team were outstanding. How privileged we are to have such a hospital in Tauranga! A huge thank you to all for medical care of this calibre. Much appreciated! Carolie de Koster.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, cleaners and tea ladies of ward 2B who did such a wonderful, caring job of looking after my mother (Helen) for such a long time over winter. Sadly my Mum passed away in Oct, but your care and kindness will not be forgotten.

My wife had to take our daughter into the Emergency Dept at 2am Sunday morning a week ago, they were extremely busy! They were dealt with efficiently and in a friendly manner by all the staff who were under a lot of pressure. We are very grateful to everyone there and they deserve a medal for the job they do.

2018
Found myself in the Kaupapa ward at Tauranga hospital.
Past experience in other hospitals has left me really not happy with much.
BUT right from the moment I entered the hospital Emergency Department I realised that this hospital was different. They had set a high bar, which on reflection was nothing short of the best possible "C. A. R. E." ( I saw that word on the walls, just hard to read lying down).
Finally arriving at the "Kaupapa ward". The first thing you notice is everyone is smiling . Staff, Patients, The cleaning lady, all of those that I did not thank properly and the wonderful Tea lady🌹. Top marks from me to you all. Thank you.
My next hospital visit included surgery and a stay with Ward 3B during the doctors strike. The entire journey through the surgery was lined with the most wonderful and caring people I have ever met. The post surgery ladies are angels. The 3B staff although critically short staffed because of the strike preformed miracles. The lady doing the meals was a breath of fresh air wrapped in a beautiful smile. The departure lounge were really great.
Thank you to you all.

I am most grateful for the excellent care I received from Tauranga Hospital. From the Midwives, Doctors, Nurses and Care givers who have been very attentive and caring from day 1 to day 4 of our stay. Keep up the great job!
C.
Had two midwives complain to us about each other and the surgical team. Very unprofessional.
The surgical team was awesome and caring.
The staff in the maternity unit are either extremely busy or lazy because it would take an hour for anyone to show after being called. Hard to hold for the toilet for that long... Also a lot of miscommunication between people.

I just want to thank the staff in the maternity/delivery ward. They were fabulous in very trying circumstances for our family. Top notch Care with real heart. They lived up to and exceeded the DHBs values
K.
Very Nice and friendly. Parking and buildings need some upgrading.
I added photos of the Roof Garden which can be accessed on Level One which is surprisingly large and has a fish pond and full grown trees.
H.
Always well looked after. Receptionist was very helpful

I would like to thank all of the wonderful staff, in Tauranga Hospital, who took care of me while in their care. I was admitted on 12th July 2017 with a collapsed right lung & needed a drain inserted between my chest wall and lung to suck out the air that caused me to bloat all over my body. After 15 days of this treatment it was decided to send me to Waikato Hospital for a more complicated procedure. I spoke to the surgeon, (Waikato Hospital) who was intending to operate on my lung the following day but in the meantime the perforation closed up, this was thanks to Doctors Patryk, Philip and Victoria in Tauranga Hospital, choosing to be patient and hoping for this outcome over a period of time. I am now back to a good measure of health and would like to thank you all once again for all of your dedicated help. Kind regards to all concerned.

Can't speak highly enough of the care my husband had and continues to have as an out patient after being admitted with acute renal failure. The entire teams from admission to discharge were fabulous, both to him and for keeping me informed. The hospital was incredibly busy in these covid times and the staff were run off their feet but they were unfailingly polite and professional. 5 stars guys!!!!!!
K.
Had all 3 children here, have been hospitalised numerous times due to HG. Always have had such a wonderful experience.

(Translated) Slightly longer waiting time, but a very good treatment. The doctor takes his time and listens to you. It felt well looked after :)
(Original)
Etwas längere Wartezeit aber, dafür eine sehr gute Behandlung. Der Arzt nimmt sich Zeit und hört einem zu. Man hat sich gut aufgehoben gefühlt:)
