D.Been a good experience staying in for new years..we took the suits on floor 8 and had good views of the city. Slightly restricted in the sea views but good enough.
Staff were extremely friendly and so should be in a 5star property.
Breakfast was included and cooking is done in display and tastes great.
They've got a jacuzzi and sauna in the building which can be accessed by prior booking.

F.Staff very attentive and helpful, room was beautiful and well stocked (my friend had the same room but smaller shower and she had a stand for her luggage that was missed from mine). Great selection of teas and coffees. Toiletries smelled lovely and were nice to use, room service was prompt and gave an estimated time which was handy. Food was divine! Room was quiet which was great given central location. Extra complimentary water in the gym which was great when working out. Made our girls weekend away just that much more relaxing having a well stocked room :) loved the teapot and cups, even bought one to bring home :)
D.The hotel is ideally located right in the middle of the CBD, within easy walking distance of bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as the Viaduct and Commercial Bay. The staff were extremely helpful and the room was nicely appointed. We had booked the Duchess Suite, and having a separate lounge area was great to relax in. The only downside was you do get a bit of noise from nearby bars and clubs but not much can be done about that, just bring your earplugs. Would definitely stay again.
N.Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of the city - easy to access various activities and eateries by walking. The hotel is well appointed. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the fact you could book it for exclusive use was a bonus. The Nespresso machine and T2 tea were a really nice touch. The furnishings and fittings were really beautiful and it didn't feel like a generic hotel. We ate breakfast at Cooke's as well and the staff looked after us very well. The meals were good. We'd stay again.
T.My husband and I decided to stay overnight in Auckland on a whim: we booked a room at the Grand Windsor Hotel after a quick Google search suggested this was the very best place to stay. The reviews were not wrong! From the moment the Concierge greeted us at our car with a luggage trolley, to opening the door to our stunning boutique room, to checking out and again being helped by another excellent and super helpful Concierge, Pablo (we had to race off to pick up another rental car, and he offered to load all our bags from our room onto the trolley and took everything out to our car again). The staff were all so wonderfully professional and warm, friendly and helpful - the perfect balance. The only regret is not having time to stay longer and enjoy the food as well. Next time we travel up to Auckland, we will definitely stay here.
D.Where do I start... this stay was fantastic from the moment we stepped through the doors. The welcome and check in was amazing 👏 The room is stunning, quiet and spacious, comfortable with everything you could need. The restaurant was also very enjoyable, from the yummy happy hour drinks up to the small plates that we combined to make beautiful meals. All the way through our stay we were made to feel welcome and every staff member we saw contributed to this. Special mention must go to Patricia who looked after us so well in the restaurant both nights.
We will definitely be back such a memorable stay.

C.Our staycation with Hotel Grand Windsor was excellent. The check-in process was smooth and quick, the concierge staff were friendly and informative, the location of the hotel was superb walkable distance to everywhere, The Cooke's restaurant meals were healthy and delicious, the private jacuzzi experience was very special, the tea tasting experience in room was classy, the bed was so comfy that we could hardly get out of the bed. The only thing that I could be picky about was the Sat night noises from the close by clubs. Luckily we were heavy sleeper this was not too bad for us. We will definitely stay with the Hotel Grand Windsor again. It was such a nice relaxed weekend staycation for us.

From my seamless check in with Emma and the concierge team who took my bags to my room for me, through to the absolutely delicious happy hour cocktails, and the just gorgeous room! The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning so lay in bed watching UK TV and sipping a cup of green tea in one of the beautiful tea cups. Was a real treat of a weekend and can't recommend Grand Windsor enough. The personal touches and caring staff made for a memorable staycation! THANK YOU!
M.Terrific 5 star boutique hotel in a prime Auckland location. No help yourself breakfast here. It’s personal service a la carte. Don’t bring work with you. This place is to relax, unwind, indulge and leave the office behind. Or have a relaxed business meeting if you must. Thanks for the kind note left in my room .

J.You cant do better for accomodation than the Hotel Grand Windsor. Right down to the sheets and pillows. The macaroons beside the fine china cups in your room. The breakfasts cooked to perfection. Attentive staff and valet service. The suite decor and bathroom...you would be happy to stay in your room.

Right from entering the door where we were welcomed by a really nice guy (sorry I didn’t get his name but he was so helpful and kind), check in was a breeze, luxurious rooms (opulent/glam style, if that’s your jam) comfortable beds, rain shower, everything you could want in a luxe hotel stay. Highly recommend. I will be returning.

S.Was at the bar for a private event with a lovely group of ladies. We enjoyed wine and cocktails served up with delicious snacks of arancini balls, tuna bites, chicken nibbles and taco chips with a lovely dip. Will go again. 😁

A.I would give this hotel a 4.5 the service was absolutely amazing!! The staff was incredibly helpful for all our needs. The rooms are nicely decorated and chic. Everything is very clean. The only negative was that is on a busy street so the noise levels are a bit loud depending on the day. Personally I had no issues sleeping, however a light sleeper might struggle a bit sleeping here.

A.First up, this place was amazing, like super LUX and for the price, amazing value for money!
Liked - Everything, the staff were super friendly. There was even a drink and small snack while I was checking in - the experience reminded me of the 5 star hotels you visit in India and South East Asia.
Anne who checked me in was kind enough to explain everything and organised for a room upgrade. She took the time to show me the rooms and talk about the history of the Hotel.
The valet and ground staff were very friendly and helpful - they didn't hesitate to assist and always had a smile on their face.
The rooms, well they are huge and the furnishings and fittings are all luxurious. The bed was super huge, like two queen beds put together (perhaps it was?) and very comfy. The room also had two small desks, a swivel chair (very fancy) and a large bench for the coffee machine, kettle and mini-bar.
The TV was a 4k 65" and had all the channels you need, it was mounted in front of the bed so great positioning too.
The bathroom was very well equipped and had both a detachable shower head and a rain shower head. The amenities are Floris, so that says it all really.
Place is quality all around, and for the price you are getting a LUX experience.
My advice - stay here in the Luxury Room (1-2 people) or the Junior Suite (2+kids). You won't be disappointed :)
Disliked · There are only two issues I have with the hotel, one being the lack of open windows but it's not a huge deal (some rooms have small balconies), the other is the limited breakfast options. Mind you, the quality is there with the limited selection so it's not all bad.
M.One of THE most pleasant hotels I have stayed in. Beds were amazingly fantastic. The staff were so friendly. Location perfect. Would definitely go back there next time I'm in Auckland. Can't wait to return

The room was a bit too tight but with very nice decor and we got complimentary Nespresso and T2 tea in the room. The building itself is a beautiful art deco style that has kept a lot of the original styles inside with new furniture.

J.On entering the hotel, I was delightfully surprised to have my luggage promptly taken care of. Check-in was straightforward and I was shown to my room with my luggage managed for me.
The room was large and comfortably furnished. Plenty of windows meant it was light and airy. The bathroom had a large shower stall and the showerhead provided a generous waterfall under which to bathe.
All in all a very pleasant stay in the central part of the city.

A.Located on busy Queen Street. Surrounded by upscale boutiques. Check in was quick and pleasant. Near the harbour. Room was nice but had no views as we were on the 1st floor. Maybe the higher ones had better views? Clean bath though after the shower, the floor outsids the shower was wet despite the door being closed.

G.We stayed at the hotel on the Saturday before Christmas and to be honest we weren't sure what to expect. We had heard that the hotel had undertaken a big renovation and we saw it was getting some good reviews so thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed!
From the moment you enter the impressive lobby you feel like you are in a 5* hotel. The service at check in was outstanding and We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade. The room itself was beautifully appointed and oozed luxury. The bed was super comfy and I could have stayed in the shower all day!
The location of the hotel is ideal for a city break right on the heart of Queen Street although it can get a touch noisy at night.
We were really impressed by every aspect of our stay. We already had plans for dinner with friends but the restaurant also looked superb and there were some very nice smells drifting from the kitchen as we made our way out.
If you are planning a city break in Auckland I would definitely give this hotel a go...you won't be disappointed.

Y.Beautiful hotel in the main CBD street. The bedroom was really comfy with a nice shower and an awesome sound system in the room under the TV. the continental buffet and A la carte one was nice and filling.
M.We ended up staying at the Hotel Grand Windsor sort of on a last minute whim after we missed our flight to Tahiti and had to spend the week in Auckland. Was able to utilize some points to get a mostly free stay, and we were super happy with the experience.
The decor is fantastic, really well done and an homage to the original (based on the pictures we saw). Our room was large, had a ton of purple velour, and we appreciated that they didn't waste a ton of space on the bathroom (huge pet peeve).
Staff was nice, only complaint is that it took awhile to check out at 6am in the morning. We did not eat at the restaurant, but we did take advantage of the champagne happy hour.
If I was going to fault the place on anything, it would be that the cocktails were inconsistent depending on the bartender; some were good, some I could have done much better on my own. But 20NZ for a glass of Moet is a great deal. Super central location, and the airport bus stops right out front.
We would definitely stay here again.
K.Beautiful heritage building and it was very tastefully renovated and furnished. I hadn't seen it since it was the grotty Mercure but this was amazing. Loved the rooms themed on jewels and the little beautiful tea sets in each room. Double glazed too so you don't realise you're on Queen Street. Absolutely lovely

A.Great location but a bit difficult if you are driving in as the main entrance is on the main street. Fashionably designed, with T2 tea set and comfortable sofas. Bed is soft and comfortable, wish I could have stayed in bed longer. Shower booth is large, however, water temperature isn’t stable. Staff are very friendly, helpful and professional.
N.Class and location in one. Absolutely fantastic. We had a top floor Queen street facing suite on Saturday night and I was worried about noise however we didn't encounter any. Very comfortable, undisturbed sleep and happy hour drinks from 4pm!
w.Beautiful restored hotel with luxurious rooms however staff at check in did not understand English very well and this caused confusion and delays. There are also no windows in most rooms except for front street facing on each floor. Back rooms are severely effected by night club noise through the walls, we had to move in the middle of the night to get sleep. After our stay we were wrongly billed for mini bar items.

R.I took my best friend here for Lunar New Year High Tea. The food was beautiful and they were so accommodating to our food allergies. Their vegan options were beautiful, and the chef even came out to talk about the food. We could chose whatever type of tea we wanted at any point of our meal, and the staff were lovely and attentive without being overbearing. Definitely going back!

C.Staff are friendly, charming and incredibly professional. Despite arriving early, they checked me in anyway since my room was ready. My room was facing Queen Street but I didn’t get any noise from traffic or people.
The only let down was that I could hear the neighbouring guest talk (loudly) on the phone through the thin walls.

L.I'd stayed at the Hotel Grand Windsor previously and the stay was ok, but the Hotel has seriously upped their game since I last stayed.

K.The Grand Windsor was everything I had imagined. The attention to detail is amazing. Our room was beautiful, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was amazing. The concierge was extremely helpful when we arrived early as we needed to park our car for the day. When we checked in and out we met with the lovely Sarah, she was super friendly and gorgeous. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back. The only minus for my partner was there was no coffee cups, to drink his coffee 😊.
s.Stayed here as the place I normally book was full. This will now be my new Auckland accommodation. The room was exactly as the pictures, beautifully finished and the bed was comfortable and firm. The staff were very friendly and the service was slick and personable. The turn down chocolate was even vegan and delicious. It couldn't get any better. I have already told my colleagues to book here in future, this is a central location and easy access with quality facilities.

A.The first thing you notice here, apart from friendly concierge staff, is how great it smells! Gently fragranced interiors greet you at every turn without being overwhelming. Beautifully appointed rooms in a period hotel with the softest sheets I've slept on in some time, the only downside was the significant noise from the bars outside into the wee hours of a Saturday morning. Hard to control for any hotel, but made sleep more difficult in an otherwise excellent stay.

W.Service was amazing, rooms spotlessly clean and the staff all very polite. Great shower in the room, and the nespresso machine was a great added touch. One down side was the noise from a nearby bar but it wasn't too hard to sleep after a busy day in Auckland! If you can, book a slot for the hot tub! Private access and it's a great little bonus for your stay!

s.Nothing beats its location on queen street close to everything, with metro new world opposite the road, and right next to Louis vuitton. Helpful staff, the pub side room can be noisy but receptionists r more than happy to call noise control anytime during the night. The place is old, rooms r clean, but not in good condition, most the newer hotels r down at the waterfront with much longer walks to shops etc. Never had bad experiences with their deluxe queen room - never stayed in other room types so can't say about those. Stayed here twice so far.

P.I stayed at the Grand Windsor in May 2016. The hotel was close to the waterfront, right on Queen Street so in walking distance to anywhere we wanted to be.
We had 2 different rooms - the first was beautiful, really elegantly done up and brand new. We also had another room, which although wasn't as nice, was much more spacious. The staff were great.
Overall - top value for the money paid.

A.A really nice place to stay, very friendly staff and pretty much all you could want for a stay in central Auckland.
C.The hotel staff was able to match and beat third-party prices. Staff was friendly and easy to work with. They held bags for us, helped with directions and printed boarding passes for our flight the next day. The building is a bit older and needs a few minor repairs (our door hinge was starting to come undone from the wall). Overall a fun stay in the heart of downtown.
S.Hotel is very conveniently located, slap bank in the middle of the city. We arrived early, 6.30 in the morning from the airport. We had taken the airport bus which drops you within a few meters of the hotel. We expected to leave our luggage, but in fact they put us in a room straight away.
The room was on the front. I must say it was very small, and despite the small size, they put in a couple of huge chairs which make it difficult to move around the room.
We ate breakfast, this was good though pricey. All our meals for the next three days were at city restaurants or cafes.

C.Lovely hotel and staff, being freshly renovated and part of the Sofitel group. The staff/service at concierge were very accommodating and genuinely tried to stay a memorable one. The rooms are designed well, bedding and pillows were very comfortable though some fabrics such as the dressing gowns were scratchy and could have been improved.
M.After being upgraded from another hotel to the Mercure Windsor, we were treated very well and the room was huge. Good Sauna, excellent location.
W.Had another staycation here. Always fabulous! The hotel is so handy to everything for that night on the town. Was upgraded to the Windsor Suite! Loved the handwritten welcome card, the chocolates and the turn down service. Very special treat. The only criticism and this is just "FYI", the Windsor Suite is on Queen St side, so if Saturday night noise is going to irk you, don't choose this room or perhaps request a side room. Remember it is a heritage building and that is what is beautiful about it...The room is fabulous regardless and has a wonderful birds eye view of Queen St. Noise does not bother me, but if it does you, Just have that "extra glass of wine" or take some earplugs or enjoy the complimentary T2 "Sleep Tight" tea or just embrace and listen to the craziness of Saturday night revellers in the city.
THANK YOU to all the staff who made our stay special. Looking forward to another stay and hopefully to the spa treatment facilities being added to the hotel.

G.I have stayed here twice. The location for inner city is great, the rooms excellent. However - my last stay the room had not been properly cleaned. Rubbish still in the bin, the toilet uncleaned and water still in the coffee machine. 3 nights after my stay the bond is still showing against my credit card despite the room being a work expense and charge back direct to the office. Having to chase a refund of a bond is unacceptable.
D.I would have given it a 2.5 but that is not allowed. This hotel has poor customer service. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel in it's amenities. Save your money and choose another.

Carpet didn't feel dirty and when I went to bed the pillow & sheets felt so clean. I have very bad allergies to bedbugs and did not have that problem at all here! Love the Nespresso coffee & T2 tea. The room also had plain water & sparkling water! Noise not so bad at all. Barely heard anything. Shop we're locate right outside the hotle, convenience store less than a block away & chemistry store across the street. I will definitely stay at this Hotel the next time I visit New Zealand again! I would highly recommend everyone to stay at the Grand Windsor Hotel.

A.Really comfortable bed but absolute tiny room - barely large enough for one person and would be a struggle for two and not suitable for some people as there was barely enough space to move around. No desk and not suitable for business trips. Decor looks nice but if you look closely it’s been done on the cheap. The gym is an abomination - literally the smallest gym I’ve ever been in - the weights area was smaller than the bathroom in my room. Good location if you want to be close to Britomart and the ferries, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

J.This is our first time travelling to New Zealand, and Hotel Grand Windsor was our first stop. We came here earlier than the check-in time, but the staff were all very nice to help us to set up everything. The service here was awesome and everyone was very helpful and friendly. There is a hot tub room and fitness center in the hotel.
The doorman Pablo gave us a lot of suggestion about getting around in Auckland CBD. He is a very nice man with good sense of humour.
During our stay, we also tried out their high tea. There were a lot of tea options. The food was also great. $49 for non-alcohol high tea for one person. The food portion was good. Only one small thing that the sweets were too sweet for me. But it didn't affect my review anyway.
If I have a chance to visit Auckland in the future, I will definitely choose Hotel Grand Windsor again! =)
