Q.Definitely not for everyone, the atmosphere here is best described as festival-like when it's busy. That includes queueing for the (very clean!) toilets, of which there are two. Meals are communal and free, and so is breakfast and lunch. You're allowed to pick some fruit from the gardens: the plums, tangerines, apples and blackberries are all great. There's a lot of people here which is usually not my thing but I've come to feel very comfortable in the week that I stayed here, you can really do your own thing and interact whenever you feel like it.
K.Affordable prices, includes breakfast AND dinner, has wifi, lots of space to relax. Has Instruments to play, and a gym. Has a troup of chickens and cats to liven up the place. The only thing was the cats are not fat like in the name.

P.Well, the experience has been great. The staff is so lovely and helpful. This is not a place for everybody, its culture is interesting, if you are looking for a place clean and in the middle of everything this is not for you. We slept in a Cabin not really comfortable or clean, a little dusty to be honest, but despite that it was a nice experience. The location is acceptable is you want to stay out of the Downtown, there are buses and trains near so you can basically go everywhere in Auckland. I strongly suggest to stay here some days. Worth a visit.

B.Very nice place. It is just a friendly community. Everybody is easygoing and helping in the house. I just stayed for one night. But I felt welcome just right when I arrived. I don't mind if there are no locks. You know the people in the house. And the food is good. It is not so common for a hostel.

E.Amazing, relaxed hostel with a lot of parking spaces, free breakfast and dinner and very nice people. A big recommendation for young, social people. You can even do wwoofing there or sell fruits, to get free accomodation and food. The normal fares are quite cheap. Perfect stop to start or end your NZ travels or to sell your car
A.the feel of staying at this place is different to a backpacker. you feel welcomed and the staff is friendly. cleanliness is not the main aim here as you will find spiders and cobwebs everywhere. breakfast is included in the package which is good. do not expect a lavish breakfast though.
this place is pretty much out of the city.
Another thing very unique is the open door policy of the toilets and bathroom. they do not have latches to the doors. all tou need to do is turn the board that says occupied or vacant. thats all
C.Very friendly and inviting hostel, the people here are what really make the atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner are included (vegetarian). No meat, no alcohol. You can also wwoof here, people seemed to really enjoy it.
Only met the one if the owners briefly, wasn't terribly impressed.
A.What makes this place a nice stay isn't its installations but the people that run the place and call it a home. If you want to lay back, mingle and get a taste of the simple life, this place is for you.

J.When booking this place I already had a good feeling about it.
I had no idea how much better my experience would be.
I expected a nice alternative hostel but what I found was a amazing backpackers community. Everybody is more then friendly and will try to help you and a lot of nice things are provided. It is a open minded and environmental friendly place where you will meet like-minded people and maybe even forge real friendships.
The pricing is more then fair and you get a lot for your money.
Bikes can be rent out for almost no money and you can have a bath under the stars if you feel like.
There are heaps of spots around the property to just relax, read a book, juggle or play music, some backpackers and the staff sometimes organize BBQs, workshops and sometimes trips to the beach.
And just to name some of the things you will find there: Solar shower, fire bath, bikepowered washing mashine, treehouse, a exchange library, big veggie garden and much more.
If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful place to stay and unwind a while, you found it!
And don't make the mistake to book just for one or two days.
T.Friendly atmosphere and very secure
M.After a 36 hour flight it was the best place to get used to kiwi time and lifestyle. I thought I'd be homesick these first days in NZ, but fat cat made that feeling go away in an instant. Thank you!

Хочу написать предупреждение для соотечественников, что этот хостел для хиппи. И если вы не такой, то вам тут, как и мне, совсем не понравится. Тем не менее переночевать вполне можно. Из того, что не зависимо от того, хиппи вы или нет, но в хостеле нужно поддерживать чистоту и порядок, чего не наблюдается в ванной комнате, вот это пожалуй главный минус. В остальном более-менее и после десяти вечера тихо, можно выспаться. И плюс довольно милые котики в гостинной.
M.(Translated) This hostel is truly a special place, I loved staying there for 4 nights. It is a large house with dormitories and rooms, there are several small buildings around, a henhouse, spaces to park vans and common areas to meet especially around the fire in winter. The house functions as a small community in which you are directly integrated, with helpers who are responsible for the maintenance of common areas.
I felt very comfortable there and would definitely stay there again! Be warned, this is not a hotel like any other, but that's what makes it so valuable!
The morning and evening meals are included in the price (very reasonable), the food is vegetarian 👍

Cette auberge de jeunesse est vraiment un lieu à part, j'ai adoré y séjourner 4 nuits. Il s'agit d'une grande maison avec des dortoirs et des chambres, il y a plusieurs petits bâtiments autour, un poulailler, des espaces pour garer des vans et des espaces communs pour se réunir notamment autour du feu en hiver. La maison fonctionne comme une petite communauté à laquelle vous êtes directement intégré.e, avec des helpeurs qui sont chargés de l'entretien des espaces communs.
Je m'y suis sentie très à l'aise et j'y retournerais sans hésitation ! Attention, soyez prevenu.e.s, ce n'est pas un hôtel comme les autres, mais c'est ça qui fait sa valeur !
Les repas matin et soir sont compris dans le prix (très raisonnable), la nourriture est végétarienne 👍

Un backpack (hotel) pas comme les autres ! En terme de propreté, je pense qu'on peut dire qu'il est au dessus de la moyenne des hôtels d'Auckland. Le prix est convenable surtout avec le petit déjeuner et le dîner fait par la communauté des résidents. Pour ceux qui cherche une aventure humaine, le Fat Cat est bien au delà de tout ce que j'ai pu testé auparavant. Un grand coup de cœur pour ce lieu pas comme les autres !
B.(Translated) Good beds but the whole hostel was like a music festival, plenty of young people who partyed all evening. Many lived there at WOOFS and had been there a long time.
