I performed an intimate Wedding Ceremony for a cute couple in one of the private rooms at Hotel DeBrett. The art deco charm suited my couples theme really well ~ warm and opulent. The team were so helpful and quick to provide advice and guidance on venue theming and layout. I would recommend this for a beautiful bespoke wedding celebration!

Enjoyed every moment. it is not the most luxurious 5-star hotel but has a very unique boutique hotel atomosphere. Food was excellent and convenience of the location was super as well.

3.5 stars. Good location. Art deco interior is cool - has potential but overall need a bit more pizzazz to justify price - I.e. fresh flowers in the entrance, though we understand AKL is just out of lockdown so hotel budget likely constrained.

This is a lovely, quiet, comfortable hotel. The check in process was easy and professional and the room is so nice. The mini bar had great snack options such as dried fruits and locally produced chocolates. There was plunger coffee and beautiful herbal teas available as well. The bathroom is so lovely with a giant bath and beautiful bath salts. The little bottles of shampoo and conditioner are from the Eco store and are a great product. The bed had beautiful linens and was super comfortable. I ate breakfast in the hotel kitchen which was really nice and the coffee was perfect. It did take me a while to navigate the light switches and where they were. I will stay here again.

Have been here many times over the years for food, finally decided to stay a night. Location is obviously perfect and the room was very quiet. We were here for a birthday getaway and the experience was wonderful. The hotel let us check-in earlier upon request. The room was SO clean and the beds were comfortable. Enjoyed the nice bath (there was even bath salt available!) and shower, loved the double-sink in the main bathroom. 3 of us were staying, we weren't sure how many bathrobes were supposed to be there (1 red and 1 white was provided), but only one of us used it anyway, I am sure if you asked they can provide more during the stay. The customer service was great, everyone was with a smile on their face and ready to assist. Items in the minibar were also very reasonably priced. Really lovely experience, we would come again. We also enjoyed breakfast and lunch there :)

Just wow! Stayed here for 1 night and everything from the moment we walked in the door was on point, super friendly staff, amazing decor, awesome house bar, the whole experience felt amazing, can't wait to go back again, I can't recommend this place enough.

Hotel DeBrett is an awesome inner city hotel, with a fabulous atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the room was great. Lunch in the restaurant was delicious and my only regret was not having dinner there as well!

We went there for breakfast, my husband and I arrived super happy, since it was completely empty we wanted a table from an specific area they said it was better if we choose one near the Chefs… anyway no biggie, we accepted, the waitress was following us with a jar of water to fill our water glasses when she has about to stretch her arm to grab my water glass we heard a loud voice saying “hey, priorities” “the food goes first” or something similar.. i assume was the manager? Idk but it changed the whole mood, the atmosphere was a bit weird, we tried to keep focused on our stuff but definitely didn’t like it, food was ok, not an outstanding dish. We didn’t even get one single smile or a positive thing about who worked there, we even tried to joke a little with waitress and nope… nothing Not friendly.. at least on Sunday morning

We have been to high tea here multiple times. Always fantastic service and the food is delicious. Good price and the setting is very nice too. Recommend highly!

We booked a room for my friend's birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The decor and vibe were awesome, the food, drink and service were excellent (and always are every time we go!). Of particular note - their cocktails and their desserts are fantastic. All in all a great experience.

Simply superb! We had the most wonderful getaway at this charming boutique hotel, right in the heart of the city. The service was beyond reproach, the rooms spotless, the food sumptuous, and the ambiance was decadent. Stepping into Hotel DeBrett, you are instantly transported to the roaring 20s, half expecting to bump into Jay Gatsby or Daisy Buchanan.

Just try their coffee n croissant deal for 7.5 dollars. I have to say. What a great cafe environment n coffee experience. Really enjoy it the coffee n crossaint. Yummy as. For any coffee n pastry lover. I highly recommend when deal is on like this. I was feeling I was in Europe. I want to try the high tea n maybe I will share more experience here too

We went to house bar for drink as i know its a great place for friends to catch up in a cozy environment. House bar was not busy as other places, drinks are little higher than other places but sizes are bigger as well. Ok service is expected as only two staff?as said its a house bar and i like it quite. I think the hotel opened since 07? Carpet has an old smell already,needs a good clean.

It's an amazing place to stay at or relax at. Their Under floor heating in the bathroom is wonderful, their bathtubs are huge and perfect to relax in! Their beds are super comfy and the customer service is outstanding!

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I couldn’t recommend it more. Both times the service has been impeccable. From booking (over the phone) to departing, the staff were friendly and super helpful. The hotel itself is in a fabulous location! Once inside, the rooms are really quirky, super clean and have plenty of little extras like different flavoured teas and bath salts. The beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are huge and well designed. This has to be the absolute best value for money for inner Auckland accommodation. The staff do a fabulous job, thank you for the lovely stay! 😊

This hotel was great. It had a hip look to it and the rooms were very nice. We stayed here at the beginning of our honeymoon and came back the last night of our trip. They were very accommodating. The food there was excellent. Great location.

I was here for a friend’s birthday drinks. The ambience was great. I loved their interior and the color of furnitures! They can accommodate quite a big group. They have a very good drinks menu and have a good wine list too. The staff was very professional with done great customer service skills. Would definitely visit again to have dinner next time and would highly recommend! :) Cheers

Beautiful venue, wonderful staff and the most delicious food at affordable prices. We held a function for 42 people and were hosted in the bar before being seated for a 2 course meal. The group still talk about the evening and the awesome food. The event manager Filipa was so accommodating with our event requests and ensured all details were sorted prior to the event. If you want a great dinner in the CBD, make a booking at Hotel DeBrett.

A wonderful experience. We stayed 3 nights, the corner room we had was opulent and just gorgeous. All of the staff were very courteous, helpful and attentive. Definitely coming back. Attention to detail in the decor and servicing of the rooms. Restaurant meals were delicious. Great location.

Amazing rooms! The decor is cool and funky. Service was excellent. Really cool bar area, and a great mixologist.

Enjoyed a high tea here with a group of old friends, had a fantastic time and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. A complimentary cocktail on arrival as well as the food and the pot of tea was worth the $55 a head. The waiting staff were friendly and one of them even had a quirky sense of humour which appealed to a bunch of raucous ladies. The table did almost collapse but were unsure if that was a user error or the table had a malfunction. Either way was a fab time. Thanks team.

Great location. We booked a duplex room, which was beautiful and large. Ask for your luggage to be carried to the bedroom floor (this would be difficult on your own as the spiral staircase is pretty narrow). The shower door doesn't seal very well in the room we stayed in so if you are not careful with where you aim the showerhead, you will end up with a giant puddle of water in the bathroom every night like we did. The complimentary breakfast is a simple continental style breakfast (yogurt, cereal, bread and juice) but they do offer to bring it to your room for no extra charge.

Hotel DeBrett was very nice. The overall theme was retro and very well done. The staff was very friendly, including the concierge, the bartender, and the restaurant staff. The room was spacious and very clean. Everything seemed mostly new and was in good order. The location is great, very close to lots of food and attractions. It is on a one way street though, which made getting a ride with Uber take a little longer than it should have. Overall staying at Hotel DeBrett was great and I would love to again.

My wife and I had a great stay over three nights here. We were in a classic room on the second floor which was very nicely decorated. The staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel decor is great and the hotel is in such a good location in the heart of the city and only a short Uber to other locations.

Why haven't we found you before, so hidden away in High Street? Such an amazing hotel and the service and food was unbelievable. Im staying next time, promise.

This hotel is so warm and cosy with friendly helpful staff. Perfect for a cold rainy Auckland night. We were upgraded to the O'Connell suite not sure why but we certainly aren't complaining it was wonderful. You can tell a lot of thought and care has been put into the retro fittings. I loved the attention to detail ..our room had a beautiful but simple floral arrangement and a massive bath with Himalayan bath salts! My one gripe is that there were no complementary tooth brushes because we had left ours at home.

Amazing small hotel in Auckland centre. Revamped in its original style it's luxurious fabrics and furnishings ensure a wonderfully comfortable stay. Great bed, good sized rooms and lovely staff.

It's a hidden gem in the heart of the city, this place is classy, the service is awesome, the food is amazing and they have some fantastic cocktails. We stayed there for a night after celebrating, and the room was a luxury loft with enough space, light and a very chic bathroom. Highly recommended

Love staying here. Small boutique hotel with art-deco theme. Gotta say I was a little miffed by the lack of iron/ironing board in the room but the under floor heating in the bathroom made up for that. Whether for business or a staging point in Auckland before you go see the real New Zealand its in a great spot.

Tasty food and excellent service. An interesting atmosphere that blends heritage elements with modern minimalist aesthetics. Only weak point was that the food seemed a bit pricey for what is was compared to some other restaurants that offer similar quality.

Always restful and lovely. A leisurely dining experience. Modest menu; just enough vegetarian options. They sensibly suggested a side order of fries from the bar (so not cooked in duck fat). Impressed at this suggestion.

As a local I love this gracious boutique hotel for a quiet coffee, wine or weekend brunch. Also a romantic weekend in the heart of the city. The staff are so friendly yet polite and discrete. The decoris like you're in a hidden- European inspired setting. Keep up the great work DeBretts.

Always stay here for work with our NZ office. Would highly recommend for single women business travelers. Service is better than anywhere else I have stayed in Singapore, England or NYC. This is NZ at its best

Guest service was outstanding. Room is comfortable and spacious. Hotel was accessible. 6 minute walk to wharf and 6 minute walk to Sky Tower. Also has a lot of eateries and pubs around the area.

Caught with friends for dinner and drinks. Everything was great from delicious food , excellent service wide selection of yummy cocktails. Nice and Cosy atmosphere.

Great downtown base to explore Auckland. Spacious suites. Lounge and library are great to chill in.. Original touches well done. Rooms interiors don't quiet work but a good attempt. certainly a great place to stay.

Had weekend breakfast here. The style of the place seems to boutique chique, a sort of downplayed silver-plated service. It's tidy, in that slightly rough unfinished bare copper way, with an antique nod. The dining area is partly in an atrium, which provides excellent acoustics for guffawing diners and screeching children alike. The food was OK, but priced in the pretentious bracket. All that could have been forgiven, but the coffee was mediocre. In downtown Auckland, you can't get away with that sort of thing.

I prefer the indoor bar, cosy atmosphere and staff are very helpful. Its a bit smaller so good for groups 2 - 6 otherwise best to call book ahead.

This hotel is in the central city. First the good: 1. the reservations and bar staff are very helpful. I cant speak highly enough of how friendly and helpful they are. 2.The hotel itself was designed by its owner and interior designer. Its very retro in style.it feels roomey for a small hotel. 3.The beds are luxurious and comfortable. 4. Being on high street you are literally a hop skip and a jump away from inner city shopping , the casino and the viaduct. I would have given the hotel 5 stars were it not for a few problems. For a hotel touted as high end one would not expect these issues. 1. The playstations in the bedroom ? Why ? Especially sitting on a ledge jutting out. I managed to smack my head against the shelf it was perched on. 2. Phones not working. We couldnt order room service . Fortunately the bar staff made their way to our room to take our orders. 3. Things seemed a wee bit tired, lighs not working , toilet roll holder not fastened in place 4. Lack of a concierge. Almost every high end hotel I have stayed at has a concierge. 5. The curtains allowed light in 6. Power points with nothing to put our computers / cellphones on. 7. Soundproofing is poor we had bass coming through our room from a near by night club. 8. The sign at the entry point was covered in cobwebs Would we stay here again yes....would we give it 5 stars yes if the above issues were addressed

Really nice atmosphere and wine list, service is really good all the time. I find the drinks a little expensive even for Auckland but that wont stop me going back.

Had high tea here. It was good but didn't dazzle me- especially for the price $55 a head. There are other places in Auckland that provide a lot more food at their high tea's for the same price point.

I didn't stay at DeBrett, but was over there a couple of times for breakfast and drinks. The food was good and the staff friendly. It is also located in a nice neighbourhood. Great place to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Fantastic place to stay if exploring Auckland, convenient to great shops and The Viaduct for restaurants / bars. Hotel has awesome rooms and the most comfortable beds and pillows I ever had in my international travels.

My go to hotel in Auckland, and I go a lot! It’s small and very quirky, retro even, but always spotless and comfortable. The staff always go out of their way when I have a special request. The restaurant/bar is nice and often frequented by others besides those in residence. It is quite centrally located in the CBD and easily accessible to the Britomart, Queens Wharf, SkyCity bus terminal, and Sparks Arena. Shopping and restaurants abound in the area.

Beautifully decorated hotel, and helpful staff. Bed was lovely. Bathroom spot on. Tasty muffins and home-made muesli at breakfast. DVD library and board games in the drawing room were useful when auckland had been exhausted. The only thing I can fault them on, is that they aren't too sharp at replacing the tea and coffee in the room. Something another reviewer mentioned. Phone reception and they sort it though.

This is a gem in CBD, I've been a few times here, my wife loves high tea!!! Highly recommend it.

We had a delightful stay at this wonderful gem of a hotel. Great staff, great house bar, and lovely restaurant. Don't overlook this hotel for that special occasion.

Fabulous hotel. Started in the loft suite. Nice room, amazing bed. Bathroom facilities are great including the huge tub-style bath. Bar and restaurant nice.

Just had a lovely lunch here with a group of friends. The food excellent nice ambience we have really enjoyed ourselves.

Parking is difficult and expensive, and even though the restaurant claims to be open until 10 they close early if they feel like it. On the other hand, the hotel is very unique and it is nice to have two floors and two bathrooms in the room.

Tom and Filipo make great hosts at the upstairs bar. A classy affair with a range of very tasty home mead cocktails and high quality wines and spirits.

Very nice and friendly staffs. Great and comfortable room with good shower which really let ppl relax. And, close to the main street for shopping and eating.

De Bretts Hotel dates from way back. I first went there in 1975 and the private bar was then called "The House Bar". One went before or after having dinner. Coffee was served in the adjacent lounge that was decorated with original landscape paintings selected by Sir Henry Kelliher. The House Bar was all paneled with varnished wood. Onto which were black and white photographs of champion race horses. They were all action shots. Malt whisky was aplenty as was Tennents 4XXXX beer from Mangatinoka.

We were here for the afternoon for high tea, which was amazing! They were so good at catering for dietary requirements, and everyone still got sweet treats and scones!!

Cozy and clean rooms. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Note that rooms don't seem to have iron in them, which might be a larger inconvenience for those on a business trip.

Gorgeous boutique hotel, loved the one bed apartment that we stayed in, however a little surprised about having no milk in the fridge & a few other details that weren't in keeping with the 'luxury' experience...

Simply Devine go check it out it's central and has great access in all weather to the downtown space in Auckland CBD and great access to public transport which is a short walk away as is the University of Auckland if you like climbing hills

Popped in whilst on holiday for cocktails with my friends, we were served by a lovely young English man, Who made us feel so welcome I definitely recommend hotel Debrett's cocktail bar and the wonderful young barman think he said his name was Joe?
