The room tidy but it was very noisy. Don't expect the rooms to be cleaned each day of your stay. There wasn't much noise suppression in the window frames so ear plugs are a must of you value your sleep! The air conditioning didn't have a heat function initially (the helpful attendant had to change some settings at a global panel to get it to heat) but there is a heater in the room. Hallways smelt a bit musty.

not the worst, but very overpriced for what it is. my partner and i booked here through booking.com, and it was made to look far better than it is. it said there was parking included with our booking, however there are only a dozen or so parks for the entire building and they were all booked up. we had to pay a small fortune for overnight parking elsewhere. the room and bathroom were teeny tiny. the hallways smelled musty.

Overall stay was nice. Room was smaller than expected but was well appointed. Could've used a proper desk though - had to make do with the side table which was the right height. Bed was really comfy. The co-working area is shared with the communal kitchen so it makes it hard to work without distraction.

Great place to stay. We went as a group of 21, and everyone was very kind to us. The staff were helpful, and the other guests were kind and friendly. Such a nice place. The water was great, and the showers amazing. We got there early and the staff let us lock up our bags for safe keeping until the previous people checked out. A great place to stay, and near fun restaurants.

Excellent location. We had a twin room which was fairly small but was well laid-out and very clean. We asked for a quiet room, which it was. It was very warm but a fan was provided which helped a bit. The reception staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful and advised us of restaurants in the area.

Quite nice location. Clean room. An average hotel but we had a very nice stay and staff was very friendly and helpful. What bothered us is the smell from the kitchen as you enter the premises. It is quite bothering.

Very clean and tidy, had a queen room and although small was nice and bring on ground floor had a little outside patio. It is right on main road so there is plenty of road noise but not unexpected. Shared facility looked good although didn't use.

The private room 206 was perfect except that you could hear everything...intimately so.... that went on in room 205 next door.....and they weren't watching tv when I was there! Neat modern comfortable. Also access to a common kitchen and fridge and lounge area, and a laundry and ironing area operating 24/7 very useful.

Nice and comfy bed and pillows. Clean and tidy. The towels smelled weird. No kitchenette in a the room we stayed in. So u can either get water for the jug down stairs in the common kitchen or the bath room. Also u have pay for parking

My partner and I stayed the night for our anniversary weekend. Chose this place in terms of its proximity to the activities we had planned for the weekend and how affordable it was for a decent sized Queen Studio room. Nice and modern facilities. Bed extremely comfy. Very friendly customer service.

I had a great stay last night at Haka Hotel Newmarket. I checked in late, and was greeted by Fine who was waiting for my late arrival. She was friendly and attentive and made check-in super quick. The room was newly renovated and very well decorated. I also had an aircon unit in my room, which was perfect for the cooler nights. The room was clean and comfortable, and perfect location to my work. I will be staying again soon for sure. Thanks for having me team.

Tidy modern Queen rooms are quite small but enough for dropping stuff off and resting. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My room had a lot of road noise suggesting a lack of sound insulation and the wall panel heater took a long time to heat the room. The room comes with free wifi but the connection was very poor.

-The staff on reception are among the best I have dealt with in NZ and Australia. They are both professional and personable and balance their efficiency with a genuine warmth that makes Haka Hotel a very special place to stay. -The housekeeping service is superb with the rooms being absolutely spotless every time I have stayed. -The rooms are clean and very comfortable and certainly a very good deal for the price. Highly recommend!

Clean, quiet hotel equipped with a communal kitchen. 4-bed dormitory option as well, all bunks have privacy curtains which is a nice touch in a small space. Have stayed here several times, best value for your money if you're looking for a quiet hostel/hotel. Close to the bus stop and a few restaurants nearby.

Good place to stay for solo traveler, great staff and is fairly clean, only downside is no air conditioning which they said they are installing so maybe next year. The price could also be reduced slightly for the queen studio as it don't come equip with a fridge and some other amenitie. Room is also bit small compare to the pictures, overall would stay again if all room come with AC for the summer.

Seriously the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. Kitchen, beds, staff, cleanliness all top notch. Could not have asked for a better place. The only gripe I would have is the rooms are a bit small. But the ensuite bathroom and everything else more then makes up for it. It's a nice getaway from your standard backpacker hostel. It really feels like a hotel. Good job to whoever designed that place it's awesome !

Very friendly staff, good and modern hotel close to Newmarket and the highway. But I will only give 4 stars due to the mandatory deposit. A 50 $ deposit was necessary because of concerns how the guests treat the rooms. I felt kind of a distrust because I'm always very careful. You get the 50$ back after room service has checked your room after check out (again: felt distrust) and it takes up to 7 (!) Days to get thr refund on your credit card. Please reconsider this policy. If the room is getting damaged, 50$ won't help you anyway.

Stayed in a 4-bed dorm for one night which seems like really great value for $26. The entire hotel is very clean and well equipped. The bathrooms and kitchen are modern and tidy and the common area is sufficient. The WiFi is amazing and there are outlets wherever you need them. The beds are cozy and have individual outlets, a lamp and a curtian along with a cage under the bed to utilize as a locker. The location is a little out of the way but great for doing Mount Eden, along with a close bus stop. Furthermore the rooms can be a little noisy at night as they are right next to a busy street. The late check in can also be a little inconvenient if you arrive early. As a side note backpackers there seem a few years older and the place is rather quiet.

I stayed here about 2 weeks and it was so calm, modern, clean and nice place. Reception people are so kind and because there have a public kitchen with stuffs, you can cook what you want to eat during the say. Also there have a fancy Nespresso coffee machine, so you can drink nice coffee everyday. But wifi was bit slow, and the parking spaces were limited, I had to park my car on street for last few days.

Honestly, the room is small-standard. It's best for business people and in-out travellers but expect traffic noise as it seems to be on the main street. Internet is great and the reception staff are exceptional, friendly and very helpful.

Very nice and cozy hotel. The rooms are modern and well designed with everything you might need though the standard queen rooms are quite small. No air conditioning but a fan and heater are supplied in each room. On weekends there is unlimited on street parking nearby

Nice experience to stay there near CBD

Clean rooms, all the essentials but no frills, nice staff, well fitted gathering place to cook, eat and chat. But no other typical hotel facilities, think backpacker or motel and its about right. Wi-Fi in rooms was for me a bit intermittent, self operated laundry facilities available, decent curry house close by, located on busy and at peak times noisy cross roads but If this is the area you want to stay in its a safe, clean, straight forward if basic choice.

Rooms are advertised with Free Unlimited wifi but this is not usable in my room whatsoever, To get any sort of response on the wifi I need to be around reception and kitchen area, I'm on a business trip and chose a hotel with wifi so I can conduct business from the room if needed. I'm currently at the point where I would have to consider canceling my current stay midway and find another hotel that can satisfy my requirements The hotel it self is very nice and well maintained. Good rooms if only it was the complete package.

This was our first time staying at the Haka Hotel, but it definitely won’t be our last time. We found the staff friendly & helpful, our queen size room with ensuite comfortable, modern, well designed and impeccably clean. We travel worldwide frequently and would highly recommend to all

I took four nights in this hotel, I was very happy with the cleanliness and the manager was so kind , there was a full kitchen downstairs and a coffee maker! Iove it, also there are organized trips for the most beautiful sights. The hotel is in a beautiful area, close to restaurants, cafes and supermarkets.

Haka Hotel is in a very good location, beautiful, and all clean. The team is very helpful, the kitchen and lobby area is amazing! I'll definitely will visit them again next time, when I'll be in Auckland.

Excellent hotel with very nice clean modern rooms just in the middle of the vibrant and hip Newmarket district of Auckland. We experienced a very high level of service from the staff and will recommend this place to anyone travelling to Auckland.

I stayed on a Friday night and had a much different experience. I emailed to change my 2nd booking date 6 weeks ago. When I arrived, they didn't have my reservation for the 2nd date, but upon further digging they found the note that had been left. No one bothered to book the bed. Thankfully, there was a bed available for the night. Staff at the front are friendly and the rooms are clean. However, the rooms are very tight. I have been in both a twin and the 4 bed dorm and if everyone had a suitcase, no one could step around the room. The twin beds were maybe 6" apart. Thankfully, the girl and I got along well. The dorm room felt super claustrophobic. They do not have nearly enough parking. I know it's tough with the location, but still. On the first night, I arrived on a Friday and was able to park on the street. For my 2nd stay, it was a Tuesday and raining. Finding parking and dragging a bag was miserable. The location is not horrible, but definitely a little bit of a hike from anything worthwhile. It's about a 20ish min walk one way down to Khyber pass which has some meal options, but if you've been busy all day...that's exhausting. There is a bubble tea and Indian place right next door. Gas station and bakery across the street. All in all...it's an ok place. It's definitely clean and mostly modern feeling. The bunkbeds in the dorm were an old pine...pretty typical hostel looking room, but nice bathroom. A cafe instead of the kitchen in the lobby would be awesome. Maybe one that had a bar included.

I can throughly recommend the Haka Hotel in Newmarket; the staff were all helpful and pleasant, not once did I pass without them saying at least a ‘hello.’ The room I booked (Queen) was compact, but entirely adequate; there were powerpoints everywhere to charge my litany of iDevices and everything was clean. The air conditioning in the rooms are installed - but not functional just yet (they say mid Feb); that was the only downside. The area is nice, a short stroll up the street and there are some nice shops, restaurants, and bars. The train station is close by. I’d happily stay here again.

I was in bedroom of 4 people and it was the best hostel I never sleep. you have towel , luxirious bathroom in each room . the bed maked everyday like hotel but for the price of backpacker ! Lovely staff . Clean and new kitchen and coffee machin

Everything in this hostel is new and extremely clean. On the ground floor, there is a huge living room with a perfectly equipped kitchen and a terrace on each side. There are many seating possibilities and power outlets including USB ports (even an USB-C port is integrated in the mid table). The fridge is large and offers enough space for all your food that you can label with badges. Cooking can really be fun in this kitchen. All the staff is very friendly and willing to help you with any needs (i got an address confirmation letter within 3 minutes; they even scanned a document and sent it to me). My 4-bed hostel room was awesome too. Its not that huge, but you have a great bathroom en-suite and curtains around every bed providing privacy whenever its needed. Theres a reading light, a power outlet and a USB port at every bed as well. Only aspect they still could improve on is the relatively bad WiFi connection. It is pretty unreliable and you get disconnected quite frequently.

Not bad for a quick check in last minute. Basic, but only a few mins walk from new market shopping centre. 🛍 💖

The facility feels new with nice decorations. The staff is friendly. And I like the common lounge/kitchen. The location is nice and provides parking at an additional cost. The only reason why this is not a 5 star is because of its internet speed. It was only 0.48 mbps when I measured it from my laptop. It was pretty much impossible to watch a YouTube video without frequent pausing. It takes quite a while to even load the page.

Very clean, nice bathrooms, excellent kitchen and very friendly staff. If location isn't your top priority, I would say this is the absolute best hostel type accommodation in NZ

The hotel was conveniently located a 5-10 minute walk from several shops and restaurants and a 30 minute walk into the city. The atmosphere and staff were warm and welcoming. The rooms were modern and up-kept. Staying at the Haka Hotel was definitely the best decision I made while in Auckland.

Clean new looking rooms within reasonable walking distance (15 mins) to newmarket eateries and shops, towels and bed are comfortable and service is great. only letdown is that wifi is slow. Also be prepared for hot nights if staying during summer as there is no air conditioning, just a fan.

The rooms were very clean and nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was available. Didn't use any of the services provided so can't speak for that.

Awesome,clean lovely and warm with a panel heater going was welcoming on a cold wet night, and plenty of room in our twin room.You must book a car park or you find you are around the corner or up the road.There are buses at the door,walk to Newmarket or hop on a bus and go into the city. Definitely going back.

Stayed in a room with bunk beds. Clean, tidy and beds are very comfortable. Attached toilet and bathroom was impeccably clean. Excellent place for any backpacker or anyone looking for accommodation in Auckland

For a budget price this place is fantastic , staff pleasant & helpful has limited parking , but i went in unanounced so could not access a spot immeditely ( avail. the following day). Rooms very clean , large bathroom ( Queen room) has a laundry on the 2nd floor, no restaurant but plenty eateries within walking distance , one of the better hotels if you are on a budget .

If your booking the HOSTEL Bunk rooms.. ITS A POD STYLE... which is actually better in my own experience... So.. BONUS there. It has it's own lighting, power and USB input which in itself is a sound investment which most hostel should have adopted well and truly by now..but a lot have failed to do! Wait for the tourism crash.. then see them scramble to play catch up The car parking should be PRE.BOOKED OVER THE PHONE.... dont assume there is a space.. as I found out! And parking in Auckland between 8am and 6pm around this area is a nightmare.... You have been warned. Cleanliness wise it good, but not brilliant I would stay again....

Clean, extensive kitchen, friendly service, great location, not to mention one of the best showers I've ever had the pleasure of using. I booked Haka the night before I arrived it turned out marvelously. Definitely a budget priced gem in Auckland.

Staff was lovely and room was nice and tidy, but felt like walls and windows made of paper. Almost didn’t matter if I had the windows open or not, street noise was the same level.

The hotel is ok and mostly clean (windows haven’t been cleaned in months), but the WiFi is not working at all. Stayed here for two nights and no one could help us - “doesn’t work for iPhones”. The coffee machine downstairs is not very useful, since you cannot buy the pads for it in the supermarket as they are available for companies only. You only get one Ristretto pad (why Ristretto and not something useful like Lungo or Espresso?) for two nights...

The place is clean and the staff are very professional. Conveniently located, close to transport, restaurants, shops, mall, gas station, convenience store and other touristy places. For the budget pricing, it's better than others in the area.

It is so pleasant to stay for 4 nights with my family..central location.surprised of Nespresso machine n capsules provided. Staff were amazing would definitely stay here. The Wi-Fi is rather slow
