Reviews of Hotel d'Urville
I.
Atmosphere in this lovely old building is awesome. Service was somewhat amateurish, food was served on cold plates. All the elements where there but didn't follow thru on a good food experience.

This gem in the heart of Blenheim township was a real joy. A beautifully restored old bank complete with original vault doors. The rooms were very comfortable with one of the best beds I've slept on. They are spacious with all modern conveniences, comfortable and very beautiful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We also had a drink at the bar and meal at the on-site restaurant both of which were great. It is hard to fault this hotel. Reasonably priced, comfortable, friendly and well located. A recommend for anyone travelling through, or staying in Blenheim for the weekend.

Our 36th wedding anniversary. We were greeted by a great waitress, seated quickly. Drinks were ordered and given a menu to peruse. A great menu.
The meals were amazing.
We were very well looked after.
Will definitely be back.

Simply the best. Amazing cocktails. Staff are super friendly. Rooms are quirky and super fun. Really well done. Happy house 4-6pm.
2 for $29 from broad range. So recommend you stop in to the Bamboo Tiger Bar.

I love Hotel d,Urville , great jazz playing in the bar ( the bar is a little on the small side) but great anyway.
Restaurant really lovely and Jackson our waiter /barman all round fun guy awesome. Our meals weren’t over priced, and everything was seasoned well . I loved it
We stayed in the Raja room, soft furnishings great, style awesome ,it’s proberbly time money was spent to sort out the flaking paint in the bathroom and the odour of dampness/ mustiness coming from the bathroom.
Overall I would recommend staying.
A.
Very good fine dining experience. The food was delicious and perfectly executed. Wait staff were delightful. The wine was good but would love to see the wine list expand to include a bigger range and upper end of regions fantastic wine. But nothing really to complain about so 5/5 from me!
J.
Beautiful cocktails 🍸 in the bar, extremely nice dinner, great service, a must 😋
C.
A great dining experience!
A lovely atmosphere and decor, an excellent and interesting menu at a reasonable price, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful servers and a great drinks menu featuring both traditional drinks as well as a delicious range of cocktails and gin pairing.
I would highly recommend for both groups and more intimate gatherings / couples.
The bamboo tiger bar is well worth visiting after dinner for a night cap!

Superior service. Staff happy and so helpful. Food was gorgeous and my cocktail so yum and huge. Highly recommended by everyone in our group.

My partner and I went to Hotel d'Urville for dinner two Saturdays ago and had a wonderfully perfect time. Aside from one other group, we were the only table in the restaurant - surprising because the dinner was amazing (we had the fish and the venison) and the service was fantastic. Even though we were both too full for dessert, our server brought a small plate of cookies on a decorated plate with our coffee at the end of the night because he knew it was my partner's birthday. Really nice touch. As well, the ambience was really cozy. Wonderful evening!

Some time since l stayed whilst on holiday in NZ but enjoyed my stay. The boutique style hotel room was comfortable. The restaurant was very good and all housed in a wonderful old building in a great wine region. Staff tried hard to accommodate guest and were pleasant.
T.
Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom in my room was tiny and stuffed with a claw-footed cast iron tub. The noisy floor could easily be resolved by some strategically placed carpet rugs. Service throughout was with a smile. Breakfast was …

Food was delicious, service was great. Dessert menu was a bit lacking but the mains and starters were great, enough to tempt everyone
T.
The lunch spread they put on for us was very yummy and the service was top notch, very special. The wine that my partner was served had a large amount of sediment in the bottom making it taste very bitter. We would definately stay there upon returning to Blenheim.
T.
Wonderful meal, I had wild rabbit terrine starter with a scallop and prawn risotto. Bloody delish. My Hubby had crab salad starter and lamb rack main, cooked perfectly. Michael the host provided impeccable service with great suggestions with food and wine combination, not over bearing, friendly lovely young man. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
T.
Stayed here several times on business trips always found this hotel to be warm and inviting and able to accommodate even the most de***ding of travellers. We cannot fault the front of house service which was friendly and helpful but our room left alot to be desired. Each room had a unique theme.
L.
Beautiful hotel, rooms are big and nicely decorated. Very airy and light. Everything felt clean and in perfect condition. The restaurant is absolutely delicious, we had seafood and pasta. Dessert was a treat!
T.
The restaurant downstairs was delicious and even opened earlier than normal the following morning to accommodate our early flight. We enjoyed VERY different foods on each of the eveningswishing to sample all the fine and interesting choices on the menu. A real gem of a place, and I cant wait to go back.
T.
The service is genuine, gracious, helpful and friendly. The meal in the restaurant was good except for our table being out of the main restaurant area and in an alcove where the staff worked and guests waited to be seated. A very enjoyable experience and we will certainly be back.
T.
We very much enjoyed Hotel D'Urville. The restaurant is deservedly popular and it's wise to reserve a table in advance especially if you wish to dine at a time of your choosing. The bar was a nice meeting spot too for pre wedding catch ups with guests we hadn't seen for a year.
B.
Quirky but awesome place to stay in the middle of the Marlborough wine region. The hotel has been converted from an old bank, and remnants of the building's history have been left in place - safe doors and reinforced walls. Rooms are all themed, and the bed is quite comfortable.
The restaurant downstairs is worth a look too.. decent grub, but priced for those looking for a special weekend away.
T.
We stayed in the rouge room which was spacious and well tended. On a side note, don't expect WiFi in the rooms, the router they have is not powerful enough to penetrate the thick walls. I got up early and saw the yummy breakfast spread waiting for us.
R.
Stayed overnight on a Sunday night. Both bar and restaurant were therefore closed which was inconvenient, especially as not much else is open in town. The hotel is an old historic building (and listed). This means it's quite interesting but the rooms have been shoehorned into existing spaces which leads to some questionable design choices. My room was both spacious and cramped and quite hard to use. The bathroom was tiny. Breakfast was poor: just some cereal and toast left out on the sideboard along with a pot of old coffee.
T.
We recently spent a wonderful weekend at historic Hotel d'Urville in Marlborough. Room was spacious and quirky. Blenheim is a quirky, sweet little town well worth a visit. As a mature guest I was made to feel very welcome and the room was home away from home. Breakfast was included.
C.
Irish bar manager was so friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere!
B.
We enjoyed stopping by here for cocktails. It's an intimate spot with nice decor, the staff were great and we also liked the Bao buns.
F.
We had an amazing dinner all 6 of us we will all be back lovely atmosphere beautifully done thanks everyone
S.
Gorgeous hotel. Well worth a stay for at least one night or more if you can. Complimentary port in the guests lounge! Tres bien!
T.
I recently attended a funeral in Blenheim and at short notice booked this hotel as it was in walking distance from the chapel and where the wake was to be held. Staff were lovely. Basically this hotel is clearly run as a hobby and not a …
T.
I've stayed here a lot on business trips, it's a nice place with all the rooms having a unique personality. Each room has its own ""theme"", I stayed in the Venus Room which was vibrantly decorated and had large windows to let the day light in. I am so glad I stayed in this hotel, it was a great start to the holiday.
T.
We had the great pleasure of staying at d'Urville. Loved the D'Urville room, hated the Raja roomso look carefully at all the available rooms. The building is a converted Public Trust office with large vault type doors in evidence to lend authenticity. The service was great in every way.
T.
The room was smallish probably because the bathroom is in a box constructed within the box of the room. Our room was furnished in American antiques and called the Havana Room. Service was outstanding. We stayed on a Dinner Package and would highly recommend this place for a stop over in Blenheim.
T.
Its not often in life that you come across such a great experience as a night at this hotel. The central location of this hotel makes it ideal for exploring the town on foot for those who are without a vehicle. We stayed in the Angel Room which was calming and restful.
T.
Spent a couple of nights here, as we'd seen the place on our last trip to Blenheim and thought it looked interesting. Hotel D’Urville is an easy drive to the wineries and within walking distance of ***y restaurants and services in Blenheim. A lot of noise if you're a light sleeper.
A.
Loved the atmosphere, drinks and food
R.
wonderful dinner. Staff were amazing. Great menu options
T.
Nice hotel in a building which used to be a bank (about 100 years old). Rooms are themed with background information about the building's history. Basic breakfast included with the room. Friendly staff.
I.
Great old building made very modern and comfortable loved it and the staff were the best will be back
E.
The room we stayed in was impressive, but it was disappointing to arrive on a Sunday and be told that the restaurant and bar (which we were hoping to visit)was closed until Tuesday. This information was not on the website when we booked & for the price we paid we were disappointed by this.If you are looking for more on site facilities in a hotel on a Sun/Mon in Blenheim then sadly I think you should look elsewhere.
B.
Lovely meals, delicious Cocktails at the bar.
M.

M.
Food was really good, was with a friend who said he hadn't been in years because he was disappointed, but turns out it's back with some great eats.
C.
Cocktail's were very nice but expensive for what you got. Atmosphere was great though.
S.
Definitely one of the culinary highlights of 3 weeks of touring the South island of New Zealand.
