Even though we were in MIQ (which wasn't always easy) Distcton Christchurch really went above and beyond to help me and my families time go well. They even gave us a lovely platter for our anniversary with a card signed by the staff! They did the same thing for our son's 1st birthday! And the food was excellent!!

On day 4 of MIQ, and have to say I’ve loved the experience so far. Super spacious luxury hotel room, extremely accommodating staff, excellent quality and quantity of food…I could keep going! The staff really go out of their way to help, making self isolation way better than it could be imagined. I’m sure it will continue to be a great hotel beyond the days of MIQ too. Thank you Distinction Hotel!

My family and I are currently staying in the Christchurch Distinction Hotel for our MIQ stay on return to live in NZ. We struck lucky and were given a superior family suite on the top floor. Amazing two bedroom suite, which is almost as big as my old house in NZ. Huge bathroom with beautiful free standing bath tub and separate walk in shower with dual head shower. Nothing is too much trouble when you ring down with a request to reception. The food is wonderful and there is plenty of choice. I'm wishing they could come and cook meals for my family all the time 🤣 Feeling very fortunate and that we have been so well looked after on our return to NZ.

One of the best hotel in christchurch with very good service. Rooms are big and clean. All basic amenities provided. Big windows give out a nice view.

This review is based on the hotel being a MIQ facility. For reference, this was my 5th time in MIQ. The queen bed was comfortable, being a fraction on the soft side for me; there were two of them in the room. Out of the 8 pillows, one was a thinner feather and the rest were thicker synthetic; I like thin pillows. They provide you with a bucket and some general cleaning supplies. They also provide you with metal cutlery. All good things, as a lot of places give you bamboo utensils for each meal. Room was pretty clean, however, there was rubbish under the bed which included an apple. The desk, if you're working, is painfully small at 35-40cm deep, and the Ethernet jack is on the other-side of the room - along with the phone. The inset TV, pivots, but not enough to use as a second monitor and the HDMI inputs were on the opposite side from the desk location. A 3m HDMI cable should be sufficient. Wi-Fi speeds were excellent with 85Mbps down and 105Mbps up. I couldn't get my VPN to connect using my laptop, but I didn't try very hard either; it worked on my phone though. The power-points, while numerous, are all vertically stacked, which was annoying for me. Food was average and light on the protein. Alternate dietary requirements were handled OK - not great, with offerings being bland. Their system for ordering food is web-based and doesn't have any ability to write anything different - some MIQ places do, they should change this. If you have any dietary requirements, don't assume and call the food and beverage manager on the first day. Exercise time is by cohort at this MIQ - not all MIQs do this. Times with sun were packed out, so if you want to get a good pace on, often you can't. There are often walk slots at or before 3am which no one uses, so use those. This is still better than a lot of facilities. Generic room and MIQ hacks. Travel with an AeroPress coffee maker (instant is provided), 8m parachute cord (clothesline) and exercise equipment. On arrival, supermarket delivery clothes washing liquid, hot sauce and coffee. Flip a bed on its side and pin with the other so it doesn't fall. Move furniture around to suit. These mods will give you heaps more space. Bring something like a Leatherman, with a blade and phillips screwdriver.

Fresh and Healthy Foods. Great , Friendly Staffs. Enough space with super cozy bedrooms. I am here to complete my 7 days MIQ. I have enough space to exercise, meditate and rejuvenate my body. Stayed whilst in MIQ. Room large and clean, bathroom clean but a little dated. Staff lovely and very helpful. Food was a challenge.

The 2 weeks I spent there during my MIQ wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, thanks to the awesome staff and the great service they provided. Rooms are spacious and very clean. The view was ok and you can see the white peaks of the alps from the top hotel's levels

Really liked it, had a great time in Quarantine was safe and Clean like the place, food could be better.

We've been in managed isolation at the Distinction for just over 24 hours, and have been blown away by the kindness and dedication of staff several times already. They have gone out of their way to accommodate some pretty odd requests, including letting a picky eater order from both the regular and kids menus, which I'm sure complicates their routines quite a bit. They've provided us with an exceptional solution to make our workspace more comfortable, going well beyond what we asked or hoped for. The lovely room is equipped with everything we could need to make our stay comfortable. The staff are consistently kind and friendly. They're risking their safety to let us start our new life in NZ and yet we still feel like pampered guests, not like a burden. The only possible complaint I have is that they're sending way too much delicious food! Thank you so much for everything you're doing to keep this country safe while also managing to make this isolation feel like a vacation. We are so grateful for your kindness!

I am currently completing my Quarantine in this hotel. The staff here, hotel, military, security, nursing and well-being, (I hope I haven't missed anyone 🤔) are all pleasant, professional and doing a brilliant job under, what I can only imagine, sometimes very trying circumstances. The food is OUTSTANDING, tasty, good variety fresh and bountiful. 🙂. Its lovely to have time outside too, unlike Quarantine in Australia, thank you 🤗. I have absolutely no complaints and want to thank all of you for your commitment to us and keeping New Zealand safe😃👏👏💯🥂

I'm staying on the 8th floor at the Distinction isolating for Quarantine. This Hotel has kind staff, and if you ask for help on anything, you get it.Its comfortable, clean, everything is first class and well managed. Food is awesome. Thank you Staff, Nurses, Security, Hotel Management, Receptionists and most of all, the people of New Zealand that enabled me to get home and stay with my 85-yr old Mother who is running her own house but is dealing with health issues. I can never thank you all enough.

I'm currently staying at this hotel as part of managed isolation. From when I checked in nearly 2 weeks ago the whole process has run very smoothly and without fault.The staff are very friendly and there have been some nice little touches; like the lollies for Halloween. Also the food has been very good and constant good communication. While you wont get the choice to stay here now I would reccomend this hotel after isolation ends.

The staff are so lovely and provide great service. I didn't expect anything but, on my birthday I got a birthday card sighed by the staff and cake. that was truely touching. Thank you Distinction Hotel. You're awesome

First impressions count, as we walked into the lobby were greeted like old friends. Great start and the room was just as impressive, with a king size bed and spacious bathroom/shower. Bar area was comfortable and evening meal excellent. Staff were polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

if you rolled Distinction for MIQ hotel roulette .... CONGRATULATIONS !! You got lucky AFFF !! rooms super spacious, food is excellent and staff/location also good. Be careful buying alcohol as they are stricter than MIQ guidelines.

Out standing hotel. The staff are lovely and go out of their way to proforming miracles. The front of house manager Ali deserves a raise or promotion. The distinction is currently operating as a isolation hotel for people returning to NZ but they haven't let their high standards slip

The hotel was good and the centre of Christchurch. The room was nice but the bathroom had no hand held shower head. It was either a bath or a small rain old fashion shower. The breakfast was not brilliant either in comparison to all other 4 star hotels.

Great hotel in an excellent place. Very calm and personally refreshing experience. I got a room on 5th floor with reasonable views. Room was comfortable and had enough things that you should receive in a good hotel. Hotel also had a car parking area which was very helpful as the access to car park was managed through hotel staff. I tried the breakfast and it was really nice. Overall good experience and I have given it 5 star as per my experience. I will leave it with you try and rate as per your experience. Thanks.

I've been here almost 10 times now (business trips) and I keep coming back! Good rooms with proper beds. Shower depends on which room you have but mainly fine. The best thing here is the service and the food! The staff is friendly and is always there to help. The dinner menu has changed but it went from 4.9 stars to 5 (meaning it was delicious already), awesome hotel!

For a business traveler, this hotel had everything I needed. Central air, hair-dryer and decent iron & board. Fast internet with no limits to data, speed or devices. Friendly staff. Close proximity to a tonne of good shops and cafes. Easy.

Absolutely beautiful hotel right in the heart of Christchurch. Modern, elegant decor. Stunning bathrooms. Very handy restaurant downstairs with really excellent food and wine. Really helpful staff. I was traveling for business and needed some last minute printing done, the reception staff did it for me no problem at all. Very highly recommended

I don’t know her name, but to the young woman on reception on Tuesday the 16th Feb in the afternoon thank you for your incredibly thoughtful gesture. While here in managed isolation I unfortunately lost my uncle and had to watch his funeral service via zoom. I ordered a bottle of wine to celebrate his life and after a knock on the door received a bucket of ice, the wine and a beautiful sweet treat to go with it. Brought me to tears. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for making a difficult time that little bit more bearable. The whole team have been incredibly sweet, caring and quick to action. Thanks you all again

Stayed here one night on arrival into Christchurch. We liked the room, good size and clean. Hotel is well situated centrally in the city and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice lush rooms, maybe a little dated bathrooms, but nice marble. Fast lifts and quiet environment to have a good night sleep. (Have not tried the restaurant)

Love this hotel. So central especially as we walk everywhere. Exceptionally friendly staff and great facilities. Have had a drink in the bar 3 nights and eaten dinner in the restaurant 2 nights. Great restaurant service and food delicious. Could not fault a thing in this Hotel! Our room has a very comfy bed, amazing shower and tea making facilities. We will come here again when visiting Christchurch.

My wife and I were traveling for business. The room was spacious, bed extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was well-appointed with hot strong bath/shower. The hotel restaurant, Gumption, was delicious for dinner and breakfast; free coffee (espresso, latte, tea) from a machine for guests even if you didn't eat at the restaurant. The location was amazing. Right next to the Cathedral. Five minute walk to several different restaurant hubs, pedestrian malls, and 10 minutes to the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Note for travelers from the USA: tipping housekeeping is appreciated but optional. Buying treats for the front desk staff is always a nice touch :)

This is the perfect place to stay in Christchurch. The staff made us feel welcome and special. The Chocolate Dome desert in the restaurant is magnificent, simply the very best desert I have ever experienced. Sensational !!

Stayed over for one night for business, rooms are very well appointed with modern comforts and a great shower. The only surprise and first world problem for me, there was nothing with a USB outlet to charge my phone. Normally there would be a clock radio or dedicated USB wall socket close to the bedside table.

The staff were all very lovely very helpful special thanks to Mike an Claire the well being team everyone there that played a part of the managed Isolation thank you all.. I enjoyed every meal I had thank you..The room was nice clean and the bed was very comfortable and a nice big TV.. What I loved also were the different choices of teabags coffee hot chocolate sachets you had with a small kettle an fridge cutlery plates cups and glasses..all you need..

Fixed a few things, so upgraded to 3 stars. First room was very "let me emphasize" ... very ... dirty bathroom with stains all over bathroom floor. Fresh stains ... next room was better, but hard to get over the initial impression.

Excellent location, very helpful and friendly staff. Our room was larger than expected, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was one of the best breakfast I ever had in a hotel.

We are here as returning KIWI's from the Middle East and the staff here are the most friendliest, helpful people. We may not see them but communication has been very caring and supportive. The rooms just gawjess. Isolation is part of the process and we were surprised to be moved from Auckland to Christchurch however very appreciative all the same. Thank you Distinction Chch for looking after us with the Army, Police and Border staff.

Great standard. Enjoyed the stay due to the great service. Could do with an extra light out two over suit case benches. A towel rail would be preferred over the current hook options. I recommend this hotel.

Friendly front desk, great central location, spacious room, free WiFi, comfortable bed and great amenities. My only complaint is the shower is in the tub and the rose is pretty low, even for me (I have to crouch to wet my hair and I'm 5'6)

Extremely nice Hotel. Friendly caring staff. Rooms are the best I have encountered on my New Zealand trip so far. I definitely will stay here again.

It was pretty good. Review dropped to a 3 because I was called that I had left my phone charger in the room and they would leave at reception, went to pick up and wasn't there, took about a week and a half of calling back and forward for it to be found and left at reception. Was not the staff working fault at all, it's a process that needs fixing :)

Comfortable bed, nice room with a view over the city. Check in person helpful and friendly. We ate in the restuarant and found the food excellent and the staff outstanding.

Went here for Christmas dinner. Sadly it was very average. Was expecting a whole lot more on such a special day. I think they were just too busy and didn't have enough staff on.

Probably the best looking hotel around this area, right next to the tramp station. Had live singer entertaining at the outside patio area and she was quite good !

The reception staff was way too helpful but the price is too expensive especially the parking . Should give free parking to the guest after paying $300 a room and still asking more money for parking.
