Nice hotel. Little bit old fashioned but that works to their advantage. Their health centre is nice but no way to book out the pool or spa which isn't ideal and small kids are also allowed in. Nice facilities and staff friendly. Love the heritage of it also.

Great location in a cool old build. The gym is excellent. Valet parking makes it great with a car to.

happy as with our stay... very much as its name says.. lovely old heritage building, great indoor outdoor bar setting with an array of Beverages/ cocktails etc... was lucky to catch Lee Martin singer song writer performing what a treat. would definitely return.

Amazing rooms, staff bent over backwards to help. Great facilities you have to check out the pool. Barber shop if you need it is quirky trendy and super cool and the bar is well worth a stop in.

Very well appointed rooms with everything you would need for a family stay. Central location with good variety of shopping, bars and restaurants within easy walking. The staff were very helpful with prompt car parking and retrieval service. If planning your first stay note the main entrance is through the outdoor dinning area - will stay again.

We stayed for a period of nearly 7 weeks while our home in Christchutch was being repaired. Over this time we found our apartment very warm, quiet and cozy. It had all the amenities we needed and we found every staff member very respectful and friendly. The position of this hotel is outstanding to stay and to enjoy the wonderful sites of Christchurch. Super places to wine and dine so very close. Recommend.

The staff are so plesant and professional. Great place to stay. If you love the older christchurch architecture this is beautifully saved building and well cleaned and cared for right in the heart of Christchurch

What an awesome hotel beautiful character heritage building, staff were great beds so comfortable clean tidy fantastic bar with yummy 🍸 cocktails🤩🤩Definitely recommend right in the centre of town. Will be staying again.!!

Enormous suites that are well equipped including very comfy beds. The staff are all friendly and helpful. It’s the place we always stay in Christchurch.

Great rooms with good facilities. Kitchenette. Gym. Pool. Spa. Sauna. The bad was the fact the wind whistles the room so loudly. Its like someone is dragging a chair across a wooden floor. Very loud all night.

Absolutely beautiful building and room, amazing facilities (huge gym and lovely pool), all accompanied by lovely and accommodating staff! Central location too- highly recommend.

This historic hotel was beyond amazing. My room was a suite complete with full kitchen, table and chairs, couch and then on the second level was the bedroom and bathroom with laundry facilities in the suite. To say I was pampered was an understatement. The staff was friendly but discreet and the hallways and stair cases were beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel while visiting Christchurch.

Thank for Neil for the warm welcome and helpful service. He went out of this way to make my stay pleasant and carefree. Very nice rooms — huge! Loved the gym facilities downstairs and the central location. Staff in the morning were also more than helpful with providing luggage storage while I eked around town. Overall — excellent service!!!

Stayed 5 nights. An old hotel centrally located. Huge old fashioned rooms with all amenities including every room has it's own laundry facilities.

One of the historic buildings that wasn’t damaging the earthquake. Very spacious clean rooms at reasonable prices. The staff were above and beyond helpful and courteous. The bar has great atmosphere, service, and of course top notch food and drinks. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic stay and well located!

The Hotel is very Central to the City. Emily , of the Reception staff was very friendly and very informative of local information etc. I liked the Valet Parking , since , being new to the City , we did not know where to park etc. Its a very old building but has been well renovated and converted for use as a Hotel. We had more of a suite, ie several rooms , but we only needed 2 bedrooms, so there was more space than we needed. My Daughter booked it , so I cannot comment on the price etc. Formerly it was a Government Building . The spacious rooms were fine, having the facilities for self catering , if required. We used it a a Hotel room and were well satisfied. The Bar and Restaurant are run by a Franchise I believe, so food was only available in the Bar from after 11am . That was not an issue for us , but I believe that breakfast is not available before that time. Maybe thats why there is a cooker etc in the rooms. We used it as a base in the City centre and were happy with it . I would say that the Staff were very friendly and helpful. Martin

A great hotel in a remarkable building offering spacious rooms with impressive ceiling heights. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts served in both the hotel dining room and OGB Bar are delicious. The hotel is also very central and the tram passes along it. Great place to stay though the interior design is very traditional and slightly outdated.

Charming old hotel. Super friendly staff who was very helpful. Our room was supposed to be one of the largest, two floors with two bedrooms. Please note right now there is construction going on outside almost everywhere in the center, so this might cause some noise and also spoil the view a bit. The city is recovering however. The pool looks nicer on the pictures. All in all a really good hotel.

Classic We spent about a week here. It was a comfortable and convenient hotel. Well-equipped including laundry machine and dryer, stove, oven, etc. The beds were comfortable. The building was old style but well taken care. The location was good. We could walk easily to the park, the shopping mall, even good restaurants. They offered a valet parking too. Of course, we had to pay for that.

Of course you can expect a quality stay at a heritage hotel, with a respectable reputation for that classic (yes heritage) feel of the whole building. This does however come with a few drawbacks such as noticeably loud pipes (sometimes heard when other rooms use water) and a room door you have to lock behind you every time you leave (obviously not a big deal there). But overall, Heritage Hotel Christchurch was a quality spacious two-storey room that I would stay at again. Great restaurant bar downstairs, if a little pricey and a somewhat select menu (which is also the roomservice menu).

Beautiful building and lovely room (stayed in a suite on our honeymoon). Great location and friendly staff. Fantastic bar with a great breakfast as well. Only downside was that we were only staying the one night.

What a wonderful treat! Your first impression after seeing the front of this magnificent building is the friendly professional greeting at the reception. Kala is a Brisbane lass who provides a truly professional welcome, you feel she means it. We had booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite and found it spread over 2 levels, luxurious and spacious. There was a washing machine and dryer [important on a long trip] and a great kitchen with a coffee plunger and good coffee provided. The gym is a stand out indeed perhaps the best equipped hotel gym I've seen for many years including three Personal Trainers at the gym office. The indoor heated pool helped loosen tight muscles too. Our stay was only 2 nights but we hope to return soon.

There is a small restaurant here in the old government building. It's beautiful, but apparently only suits go there, because our party showing up for lunch threw the staff for a loop. Limited choices and generally a feeling that they didn't know quite what to do with us. Food was good overall. I'd make sure to get a reservation in advance if you want real white glove treatment.

Made the mistake of going here for breakfast too early. Although they open 6.30, allow at least 30 minutes before you get your food. The building is nice, restaurant space is nice. Coffee was OK. We had to leave as I had an appointment and didn't want to shovel down my breakfast angry. Staff were apologetic, but unfortunately my empty stomach didn't appreciate it! The odd thing is, we ordered bircher, and yet other people got their eggs Benedict before us. I suspect they just forgot.

Lovely building which has been tastefully adapted to it's current use. Friendly and helpful staff with some very appreciated nice touches (eg a bottle of water in the car when leaving). Unfortunately let down by issues with electrical appliances that weren't safe for use, seeming to be something of a testing and maintenance failure.

Amazing time here. Great food, great friendly staff, - a great musician and Greta beer. We tried the vegan chicken. It was actually great, but had more like a viel texture, worth it for sure.

Located centrally in town next to the old cathedral (the state of which is still sadly indicative of the events of 2011), in a stunning building and equally stunning rooms. In close proximity to all you could want and more. A short stroll down to New Regent Street where you will find several stunning places to wine (or try your hand at the craft beers at The Institute) , dine then potentially wine and dine some more. The hotel staff were outgoing, both behind the desk and out the front bar/resteraunt. If you're looking for a comfortable stay in the centre of Christchurch you could do a lot worse than this, however I'm not too sure you could do better.

Stayed here for 2 weeks whilst on a job. Even though Christchurch is still rebuilding the building itself is amazing and the rooms are huge. Gym also is well equipped and free to use as a guest. I deduct 1 star for the hotel internet which is accessible via voucher codes from reception. For the price per night internet should be included.

very classical,excellent hote located in the center of the city. obviously one of the best hotels in Christchurch. suite room equipped with laundry, fridge and kitchen.

Wow. Five star comforts in an historic building at distinctly 3-4 star prices. My room had 20ft ceilings, a bedroom on a mezzanine level, a pillow menu and a bed I never wanted to leave. Wifi is annoyingly limited to 500mb but reception seem happy to hand out refills.

Both the restaurant and the bar have a nice setting and atmosphere. The food and drinks are very good but not cheap. The toilets are very small so you have to queue.

The service was really nice. We arrived late at night but the manager on duty gave us a very warm welcome with valet parking. There is also a cool bar/cafe there. The brunch was nice.

An excellent drop of classic Empire opulence in the centre of the city (not that there's much around at the time of writing :). Staff were excellent, buffet breakfast was top notch and the suite was just as wanted. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights 2/4th March before returning to UK and it was great, accommodation and friendlines of staff could not have been better. Loved to have stopped longer.

A quaint building that survived a major earthquake that struck the city center and retained its former appearance seems to be loved by many people. The bar in front of the entrance is a great place to relax and is crowded with those who are looking forward to a drink on this terrace in the evening. The drawback is that the rooms are mainly suite types, so the price is high. And unfortunately, the capacity of the hot water supply in the bath in each room is so small that it becomes cold water in about 30 minutes. It is impossible for two Japanese who like baths to alternately store hot water in the bathtub. It was said that it would take 2-3 hours for the hot water to collect in the tank again. Because many hotels in New Zealand have hotels with only showers, should I think that there is only a bathtub? However, the corridors are spacious, with fine Art Deco carved ceilings and décor, and a quiet, soft bed that can soothe the fatigue of a 5-star hotel. The two-bedroom room we used was a maisonette-type room about 70cm2 in size, with a kitchen set and tableware for shopping and cooking at the supermarket. There was also a washing machine and a dryer, and we were very thankful to us for 4 nights. Furniture and furniture feel old, but they look dignified in antiquity. I think that it is a hotel that can be proud of the world worth staying at least once.
