R.Great base to stay. Walking distance to so many restaurants. Good off street parking and very limited traffic noise in rooms. Excellent staff attention even in these Covid times. Very well equipped rooms and very comfortable beds.

J.Excellent place. We got room 39 which has 2 double beds. Room was spacious however not so kids friendly (tables/chairs). Downside is that desk service is only available from 12 to 7 pm. Location in great! Walking distance to basically all main central things.

D.One thing that really stands out at this place is the warm, friendly and helpful nature of the staff. I was traveling with a cranky three year old that had been flying all morning and the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and that my daughter and I were happy. Monica was especially helpful. Don’t let the outdoor appearance fool you. Once you step inside your room it’s wonderful, spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms are huge. The bed is comfortable. Don’t know about other reviews of traffic noise. Did not experience any of this. It’s close to everything you want to see also. You can cross the rd, walk through Hagley Park and visit the Canterbury Museum and many other places. Will definitely stay here again.
P.Lovely receptionist, very convenient tea making facilities in room, with microwave and toaster. The room is big, with 1 single bed and 1 double, perfect for our family. Parking is for free, and the restaurant is superb, all food and well presented and delicious, with great atmosphere
R.I think this place represents excellent value for money. Stayed here on business and the staff were friendly, the single room was humble but very clean and well maintained as well as generous in size. I'd give it 4.5 stars but you can't . Perhaps an alarm clock in the room would be helpful
If you stay here you should definitely visit the Strawberry Far restaurant at the front of the hotel - superb for breakfast or dinner.
D.We had a excellent tome in Christchurch but were pleasantly surprised at our stay at the Hotel Carlton Mill. We were blown away by the service and kindness of Amir especially. The location was great for our needs and the restaurant Strawberry Fare being right there was a bonus.
P.Modern, clean and tidy. Close to the beautiful central park. Nicely heated at winter days. Very friendly staff. Wifi could be more reliable and the mini fridge less noisy.
C.We stayed 21-22 Sept 2015, we selected the Carlton Mill for it's 24/7 Check in as my Partner was coming in on a long haul flight.
We stayed in a King Studio Room. The room was ok, with a mixture of dated and modern fittings. In room provisions (Tea/Coffee/Milk) were basic and limited.
Unfortunately our room was also located on a level surrounded by building work in adjacent rooms. Needless to say our the stay was anything but restful.
Parking whilst adequate is somewhat awkward to access unless entering via the side street (Mill Road).
We are unlikely to stay again

J.Quite an old-style hotel and the room lacked any sort of fan or way of cooling down in summer; but it was clean and well maintained and staff were all helpful and cheerful.
M.My husband and I looked on Tripadvisor and found this wonderful restaurant. We ordered a steak each, both medium rare and they were perfectly cooked. Our thanks to the chef!! We will definitely be back next time we're in Chch. We are from Nelson and have been holidaying around the SI. This was our last stop. Very impressed and would highly recommend to everyone - Gavin & Melanie Barr
