S.Amazing rooms, perfect location, super attentive staff. Unfortunately let down by dangerous showers which fluctuate between hot and scalding while you shower. Very concerned a child will be burnt one day, refused to shower our child in it for that reason. Management did listen and told us would be fixed, so fingers crossed they follow through.
E.Had our Christmas Work dinner here on Friday 3rd December. Staff were so lovely and friendly and the environment they had created for our party was lovely. The buffet was delicious and they delivered on everything they said they would. All the meat was hot and extremely tasty. The salads were so pretty to look at and also very tasty. One thing I would suggest is that the dessert was brought out after we had had the buffet. Not sitting out for the whole night while we were having our drinks at the beginning of the evening. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who asked. And would book another Christmas dinner here again! Thankyou Novotel - well done.
D.Excellent position in the heart of the CBD next door to the cathederal. Friendly staff, nice airy and bright rooms that are clean and tidy. Breakfast was resonable, nothing stunning. Would stay again here on my next trip to Christchurch

Nice complex with very helpful, friendly and courteous staff.
All staff I dealt with in one small way or another, including domestic staff, were very professional and represented the place well.
The room (9th floor) was clean and fresh and again, could not be faulted.
For the evening meal in the restuarant I had the lamb rump.
The lamb was absolutely cooked beautifully and the flavors were excellent, my only gripe would be the size of the meal. Could have been a little more on the plate and this was the same comment I heard from work colleagues staying here as well.
Overall very good though.

J.Great location, rooms a little dated, water temp in shower very hard to manage, marked/stained carpets. Nice staff and easy check in/out. Insanely priced wifi, but free if you sign up to accor hotels database.
T.Bedrooms need a refurbishment and the rain shower head don't have pressure at all. Called reception for that and nothing was done. The shower at Ibis across the street is better and is half the price

L.Normally Novotels are a good place to stay. Not convinced with this one though...
Odd room layout: basin outside of the bathroom is rather inconvenient if you share with a workmate. The toilet doors are strange slide doors that do not have a handle... The shower goes hot or hellfire hot and will directly use the rain shower head instead of the handheld...
The bedding is lazy and I feel unhygenic, as they just slapped a top sheet on the mattress, then one under the duvet and one on top. If you are a restless sleeper like me, you end up struggling those sheets away and sleeping on the bare mattress and under a bare duvet... Not sure, how many guests before me had that struggle and I'm not sure I want to know...
In the corner of the room is a big nice floor lamp. When I tried to turn it on, it turned out it was not plugged in. But then, there is no socket in that area of the room at all, so the lamp is just a frustrating bit of design...
The people working there are lovely though and did apologize for our phone not working and the fact that you have no free WiFi ($10/night)...
I expect different standards from a Novotel!

K.Perfect location for main central city highlights. Rooms are bare minimum space but perfectly adequate, clean and comfortable. Breakfast, dining, bar area pleasant and all staff including reception and housekeeping very polite, attentive and smiling.
M.First, the gym I saw on level 3 looked nothing like the photo showing on their site. So someone needs to confirm that. Second, nice room, good layout and comfortable and clean. Third, avoid the inhouse restaurant. You order a steak, you get a steak. No fries, no salad. Those are 'extras'. So $47 later I have a meal. Given the steak was $29 i was surprised how poor quality the cut was. I, and others i watched, had trouble cutting what was supposed to be a prime cut. My colleagues had trouble getting breakfast. Like, wait one hour trouble. So i suggest that eating out is both cost and time effective. Rooms are quiet and not too much noise from nearby rooms or punters in the corridors.
A.Lovely dinner in restaurant although we were quite surprised at the number of dishes (entrée, mains and dessert) on the menu that were 'no longer available'. Maybe better for our waistlines but would have been nice to try the other dishes 😀

E.Very nice rooms and modern hotel, good service. I did not like, however, that they charged piecemeal for everything - I've gotten used to breakfast being extra, but internet and parking was just a bit much. For how much the room was per night I wouldn't expect the nickel and diming in addition. Honestly, we did like the room a lot, but the value for the money was questionable.

L.My husband and I came to this hotel and I was not feeling the best when we arrived. we went out for a walk and I unfortunately had to return to the hotel quite quickly and as I returned, the concierge Kush was amazing he helped me so much and followed up after I got to the room and personally brought me some dry ginger ale (because that was all I could keep down) lt was such personal service. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and quiet we had a lovely stay it was even better when I wasn’t feeling like rubbish.

R.Loved the hotel and their service. Nice and modern room completed with perfect restaurant. We have a small kid in the restaurant they have TV with headset. It was the best and most relaxed dinner we ever had since we had our kid. It's really great idea!
Staff are friendly and the location is great. Just walking distance to shops and restaurants and also a paid parking just next to the hotel which you can park from I think 6:00 pm until 10:00 am the day after for around $8.00
A.The stay was very pleasant. The room was orderly and quiet. The staff were very prompt and accommodating. They resolved how the rooms was to be paid for as there was a mix up between my personal account and the corporate account. This was done very efficiently and professionally. After hours room service was very much appreciated as my day was packed to the point of not being able to stop for a bite to eat.
g.Beautifully clean, warm and welcoming. I was missing my remote and reception rushed one up so I could watch TV. The lamb shank from their restaurant was the best I ever tasted.

K.My partner and I stayed here for one night as we were traveling through, after driving around the block 3 times we had to go into the front desk to ask how to get into the carpark, turns out you just drive across the foot path to access their drive way?!
The staff were ok for what little dealings we had with them, the room was clean although when I pulled the covers off the bed the next morning I did notice there was some dried up blood on the duvet (too old and brown to be ours) and could have done without the arrogant guest running and jumping in the Hall- that's obviously not the hotels fault but still annoying none the less
We also had the breakfast buffet the next morning, there is a very good range of options but most of the cooked items were cold or luke warm at best.
K.First of all, I am very happy with the quick check-in and check-out as I paid my stays in advance. It saves me a lot of time.
Second, I have paid the in advance and non refundable two nights stays which including breakfast buffet. However, when I visit the restaurant for my breakfast, the staff advised my room number was not on the list. Does it mean I only have one day breakfast for my two day stays?
Third, although I am not the picky type of person but the breakfast buffet food quality was quite poor. There were not much options and the food seem like been putting there for awhile already. Sausages were so dry and hard. The breakfast does not worth that much of money to be honest.
Forth, the phone set in the room was quite old. I understand that customers do not use the phone quite often but I believe it is time to update it to a better version as I can tell the phone is an antique. I think phone with line connected will have better connection and sound compare to wireless handset.
At last, overall I was satisfied with my stay. Another question, why there is no complimentary drink bottle offer? My stays at other Le Club Accorhotels had offers the complimentary drink bottle in the room.

I had the breakfast and while the cold options are standard fare the hot was not hot and really needs to be improved.
T.Arrived late and we were greeted by a friendly staff at 1am. Service is very good as well and they gave us the rooms early as well as a late checkout. Room was very good although we do struggle with the concept of wash hand basin outside the bathroom. Got a complimentary upgrade which was fantastic.
R.First timer in NZ and we were pleased with the warm welcome by the staff at Novotel. The rooms were however smaller than our expectation. But the gentleman at the check in was kind enough to get interconnecting rooms for the six of us. Breakfast was great. Love the juicer where we could make a fresh version of our own choice.
The management has been also very responsive and cooperative in assisting with Hertz as the concierge scratched our rented car when parking it.

My Room was upgraded to a suite that overlooks much of downtown Christchurch from a private rooftop deck. Clean room, with spacious living area.
The Room was ready early and I received a text welcome. This was great as one of my meetings were cancelled so I had somewhere to go.
Excellent location. Within walking distance of much of the Christchurch City Centre.
D.Effortless check in. Got free upgrade in recognition of my loyalty (30th stay so probably 75 nights) - very much appreciated. Complimentary drink as member. Hotel very well located. Parking not ideal as valet parking expensive & adjoining Wilsons car park is flooded when it rains. Hotel restaurant ok though it would in my opinion be better pitched at lower level than what it tries to do with some of main courses very expensive.
M.Not bad place to stay.. especially the view over the old cathedral. But, this is a modest hotel service and facilities. I kept wondering why they did service my room but didn't refill my complementary water and coffee!! I didn't asked as I was leaving the day after.. also, toilet position is very strange! It is not comfortable at all..

James on the front desk was very helpful and good at relating to guests.
Fridge in our room 1102, was faulty, may well have been a known issue? One of our cans of coke exploded as it froze and one of the glass bottles in the door also cracked and exploded. Fridge was set for 2, which seems normal, but obviously the thermostat was not operating correctly.
We reported this as it was a H and S issue, anyone cleaning out the fridge could mistake the glass fragments for ice and receive a cut to their hand. The first guy on the desk was just fine, but the more senior guy was asking Kaye dumb questions ... like "did we play with the thermostat settings". really??
The fridge is faulty and has exploded some of its contents, and we just need it dealt with.
The fridge was cleaned and then left turned off. We had another night to stay, so would have been nice to get the fridge repaired or a replacement fitted.
Anyway all was quieter and no further explosions in the fridge.
Nice place to stay. restaurant is good. Front of house staff are excellent. Food well prepared and presented.
Very nice location in the central city. Made a great base for our adventures. Worth putting on your go to list :)

T.The hotel is comfortable in a city struggling for vacancy. We chose it mainly because it was newly opened this year and the decor appealed to us. Nice to see some life returning to the CBD but I felt it was rather eerie at night. The surrounding after the earthquakes is quite amazing with all empty buildings and shops.
M.Staff were very courteous and friendly. The hotel presented nicely and my room overlooked the Cathedral, but the room layout was strange, especially the bathroom/vanity/wardrobe area and the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The breakfast was lacking in many ways and extremely disappointing consider the amount charged for it - I could have got a better $15 meal at a local cafe, with a barista coffee.
S.The hotel is perfectly fine for a few days stay. The location was close to the botanical gardens, perfect for a morning walk, with city restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was the usual fare, the buffet would benefit from offering more vegetable options and a better quality of gluten free bread. The room shower glass panel needs to be longer or a glass door needs to be added to avoid flooding the bathroom. Overall, I'd choose Novotel anytime.
R.We stayed at the Novotel Christchurch for just one night. But the moment we entered the hotel, we got a very warm welcome from the staff, they were so so friendly, we loved New Zealand right away ( our first time in NZ).
Rooms were spacious and we got a cathedral view, which was really nice. Unlike other Novotel, as a gold member they gave us a cheese platter.... which was GREAT!
Restaurant.... food, ambience and staff was amazing..... just wished we had one more night...

C.staff fantastic after late arrival after a big day and did more than asked for to facilitate early morning travel. Even forwarded our baggage to another hotel since they were booked out for the next night.

E.Ok, slightly above average. Staff very nice, room design with open sink access to bedroom a little weird but works. Rooms are small, but quiet. I guess because nothing happens in NZ, it's a quiet place.
Internet is very slow and annoying, always have to re-login every 300mb. Hotel restaurant quite expensive and low quality. Room service expensive and low quality meals. I don't know, I'm happy work paid for it I guess.
J.Overall we had a good stay at this Novotel and the location in the city is great. Breakfast was fantastic and so was customer service. Had a nice room on the 13th floor overlooking the Port Hills and Cathedral. I didn't find the pillows on the bed comfortable which resulted in a sore back and neck for a few days, but I did end up replacing my pillow with a different one. There was a bit of a dispute on check out as to whether our dinner was prepaid as it was an add on to a package I had purchased so the system wasn't showing it clearly and the receptionist wasn't adequately trained to check. This was a bit frustrating but after 10 minutes and a call to the manager the receptionist did confirm the meal was prepaid and so we got there in the end.
T.Facilities at hotel was good. Wine waiter needs some education in the finesse in pouring and not banging bottle on the glass each time, and following up on needs. It's great to see a hotel back in the central city. I will come back at the same hotel in february.
T.Ideal location for sight-seeing. The bar area was busy and service was very good when we popped in after our evenings out. The staff were all very helpful and made you feel very welcomed. We did the Alpine Safari and we felt it was ok for the price we paid.
A.I stay in a lot of hotels and staying at Novotel Christchuch has exceeded my expectations. I not only stayed in the hotel but also used the function room for a corporate event. This was my first visit to NZ and I was blown away. My room was immaculate, the food was awesome and the staff could not do enough to help me. They were genuinely pleasant, knowledgeable and well presented.
R.Stayed 6 nights. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Ate most dinners in the restaurant and pre-dinner drinks in the bar, and the service was first class. Congratulations to Steven and the staff. Really enjoyed the stay, and we will be going back for sure.
T.The location of the Hotel is great. Food was good but unless you have a large appetite there are less expensive options within walking distance of the hotel. Couldn't get in because i can't open the door (They blocked the door and i already gave the key when I checked out) so we threw our breakfast box away.

H.Lovely room with great view from 11th floor. Excellent big TV for watching the Lions vs ABs (even if it was a draw!). Great breakfast too with personalised omelette. Room a little cosy with 2 adults and a tall 14 year old but otherwise great value in the heart of CHCH.
M.Went to a members function for a sports team. Hotel very tidy and accessible. Only negative was the lifts were very busy so we took the stairs but all exits were locked save for the fire exit which took us outside the building. Other than this the venue was great and would happily return.
C.Good location but whilst room was large 2 double beds there was no room for opening suitcases. We were traveling for 3 weeks with 2 cases so very difficult. Very limited hanging space . Breakfast terrific and staff pleasant.
R.The food and atmosphere in the main lobby was nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bed was pretty hard and the pillows were flat. The shower kept going hot and cold. But all together it was ok.
I.I had a fantastic stay at Novotel Christchurch recently. The staff were friendly, although there was a hiccup upon my checking in. James at the front-desk was especially helpful in resolving my check-in issues with the booking agents. Ross at the concierge was super in helping me arrange for my tours over the weekend. Ross even went the extra mile to recommend alternatives when my desired tour wasn't available. Every other thing was a bliss. The location is fantastic, close to Victoria square, Regent street. Basically, very central. The experience was remarkable.
A.Comfortable, modern hotel. All expected facilities in good order, especially good buffet breakfast. Located right in the heart of Christchutch. Consistent with Novotel hotels worldwide, which by design does mean it is lacking it's own distinct character

Cons:
- Breakfast is exactly the same everyday. This is quite boring for customers who stay for a long period.
- Someday housekeeper forgot to provide bottles of water in the room.
T.Loved my stay Novotel Christchurch which was undamaged by the earthquake of 2011 and is right opposite the Cathedral which was devestated. The room spacious if a little oddly configured. In summary; this is a nice hotel with quality rooms however the staffing levels seem to be under pressure to keep costs down.
T.The location is ideal right by the cathedral and the tram. Thank you for allowing me early access to my room. The evening meal we had was OK with very good service. Member of reception team who checked us out did not like it when I queried an item on my bill.
J.Been there to attend a seminar, nice clean area. I called them before leaving to check about parking, it is $10 for day if you want to park in hotel parking, otherwise there are 4 public parking around. The public parking is around $3/hour. 7am to 12am Mon-Sun. CBD is getting busy after a long time, nice to see people are coming back in city centre.
K.Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring the city. Ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was good. Only complaint was that the bed was very soft - not to our taste.

A.Beautiful hotel with strategic location in the heart of Christchurch CBD and walking distance to your eatery places mainly for local people. Only the main lobby is a bit too small other than that is a thumb up place to stay with service oriented staffs making sure you have a pleasant stay there.
T.The Novotel is directly across from the Cathedral so really good central location. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable as expected. You can become the member of the Accor chain for free internet and the toiletries are available only on request. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Accor hotel for added bonus.

T.Great value for money. We had a standard studio and the receptionist gave us the choice of a room with plenty of sun so it was just lovely. Its always difficult when I travel so this type of service makes a huge difference to me so thank you very much.

T.Suites are not worth the extra money. Requests for ice were met within minutes. As we had to check out very early at 4am the next morning, we were grateful that the hotel staff ***aged to book us a shuttle at that time of the morning to the airport.
J.Enjoyed our stay. All staff made us feel welcome and we can't fault the service. We can only say our experience staying at the 'Novotel' contributed to a great weekend in Christchurch. We are impressed with how everyone seems to be moving on from the terrible devastation and destruction caused by the earthquake and seem to go out of their way to make visitors welcome.
N.As you can expect of Novotel standard. The room is clean and spacious with all the necessary amenities.
The hotel is next to St. Paul's cathedral which is now closed due to the earthquake damage. You can walk not very far to the new temporary cardboard church which is now used temporarily. It is a must see building designed by Japanese architect.
T.It was Ok. The fact that I had to join your rewards program to get internet really bothered me. I travel frequently and wifi in the room is usually free. It would definitely deter me from staying at your hotel on my next trip to Christchurch as wifi is important to my business. The quality of the room was good but parking is a pain because of the metered system outside.
A.Smart modern hotel right in the centre of the city. Good breakfast selection. Would have given 5 stars if cups had been washed and toilet cleaned during daily servicing.

T.A hotel is a hotel but what makes a great hotel is the staff that greets you. Good location to explore the CBD of Christchurch and see the progress that's been made after the earthquake and support any of the shops that have opened. The restaurant is actually very good.
C.Great service, very clean and tidy, friendly staff. Exactly what is expected. One minor suggestion would be better signage for their guest carparking, quite difficult to find.
A.Slightly strange set up in that there was no socket near a mirror for my wife drying her hair. The only sink being in the very small kitchen area was also unusual. Otherwise the room and hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

T.It's pretty amazing to see the Novotel looking so proud and refurbished after the earthquakes a few years back. The room itself was fine. We had a view out over a very sad scene but very encouraging to see all the cranes & to know that Christchurch is rising from the ashes.
K.Very good experience. We stayed there with children and were well accommodated. Staff were very friendly. Gave kids colouring pencils and activity set while we had dinner at the restaurant. Highly recommended.

R.I got given a room that is lower level (8th Floor) noise near the lift was annoying. I requested the trainee staff to move me to higher floor away from noise. The entire stay was good and the view from my room is the cathedral square.

M.Christchurch is still getting back on its feet after the recent quakes. The church will be the last I expect as there is no percentage in fixing it. Everything that is helping the economy is already up and running. Some buildings were too damaged to restore and were turned into car parks which cost an arm and a leg to park in. Thanks Wilson Parking. Humour wins in the end with one café offering Shakes.

G.My wife Anne left her persecution sun glasses in room 414 by mistake. When we discovered that I telephoned from Motueka and was told by the operator that she would check to see whether they were in the Hotel and ring me back.I later received a text message just naming the hotel and its phone number, so a telephoned a second time. This time the operator told me that she would need to check and would ring me back but did not. The next day I telephoned for the 3rd time and was given similar information. I refused to accept that and insisted that she look immediately. She undertook to do that and called back just a few minutes later to say she had the glasses. Why 3 calls? Not good enough.

T.I coundn't have stayed at a more courteous and friendlier Motel. My room and ***y rooms overlook the iconic Cathedral on the Square which is sadly partially destroyed and caught in a loop of spiraling disrepair. The tram stops in New Regent Street as well as the Square, the Museum and close to Hagley Park.
