T. C.This hotel fully redeemed itself. The first time I stayed at The George I found the service at reception and room service average at best - not very attentive, not particularly friendly, or customer focused. This surprised me after being recommended the hotel by a friend who really enjoys staying there. I decided to provide feedback to the hotel, to which I received a prompt, and apologetic sincere response from management. It was clear to me they were surprised by the feedback, and genuinely appreciative at the opportunity to improve. I decided to return during my next trip to Christchurch, and I am pleased I did. The service was excellent, and has been each time I have been back since.
The rooms are very tidy, clean and comfortable. I recommend booking a room with a balcony looking over the garden - very relaxing.
The only slight improvement I would like to see still is a slightly more extensive in-room dining menu and a drinks menu in the room.
Thanks for being receptive to constructive feedback and proving that my initial not-so-great experience was not reflective of the hotel's usual high standards.

The location is amazing. Just across the road from Hagley park, and only a couple of minute walk to bars, cafes, and restaurants in Victoria street. Whilst we were there we had a couple of morning walks to New regent street for breakfast.
The reception staff are so friendly and are always happy to help with a smile on their face. We were staying there during our wedding and it's the perfect place to stay for that. The staff were very interested and wished us a lot of congratulations. On our wedding night we were greeted by some delicious macarons and a congratulations card.
The rooms are beautiful and well maintained daily.

I would have preferred more vegetables, but the vegetables that we did have were nicely presented and flavored. It was our wedding anniversary ... even though we didn't choose to have dessert the staff kindly made us a beautifully decorated plate with a couple of macarons, this was a nice touch.
Y.It’s a late review. Celebrated my husbands birthday at Pescatore end of 2019. Warm/professional/Amai zing service also delicious food. 20 guests all had a wonderful time. Highly recommend although recently heard Pescatore is temporarily closed.

Two restaurants located in this small hotel, 50 bistro is great for lunch dinner and high tea, with an awesome semi outdoor area great for medium size gathering. Piscatore the restaurant located on the second floor is closed for now and a new restaurant is going to be opened soon.

n.Stayed for one night in Premium Room.
The room was not that luxury than I had expected. It was like slightly higher level than standard one. It was last day of my journey in New Zealand, so I wanted to stay a kind of luxury hotel than one that I usually choose to stay. The view from room was disappointing compared to ones from hotel websites'. I chose this hotel and this room for the view. I thought this hotel is very next to Hagley Park. What was the view on the websites? I already paid NZD530!
The bathroom was clean and well-organized but had only a piece of ground glass as a door, so I felt little bit embarrassed.
But I liked welcoming bear, the cozy bed, amenities in bathroom, warm and friendly staff.
S. M.We stayed here for the first three nights of our honeymoon in New Zealand. The staff, hotel, and amenities are absolutely incredible. They upgraded our room since it was our honeymoon (and the off-season). We got a garden-view with champagne and macaroons upon our arrival. Doesn't get much better than that!

After 16 days of traveling the South Island, it felt as if we were "coming home" to the The George. The amazingly friendly staff made us feel so special and welcome, especially Mark and Faz. We stayed in multiple different hotels on our trip, and the George was our standout favorite. We are already making future plans to return to New Zealand and stay at the George again!

P. R.Comfortable luxury accommodation but no gym ( you can use a gym at a neighbouring hotel) or pool. Right on border of Hagley Park so easy to go for a run. Bathrooms are bright and modern but have shower over bath so you need to be a le to step in/out. Plenty of parking space.

The bed was so comfy, automated blinds and lighting, and a toilet with more smarts than my iphone. The George bear was a lovely gift, and as it was our honeymoon we received a plate of macaroons. Was not expecting any of this. I will definitely be back!

T.On our final night, we asked the concierge to make dinner reservations for us at a recommended restaurant. By far the best meals I had in New Zealand and Australia. Honestly, I've stayed in some pretty gorgeous places around the world and I'd rate the service I received at The George as some of the best I've experienced.

M.An excellent luxury boutique hotel with great service and extremely good rooms and facilities. Located in centre of town it is very close to Hagley Park and the Canterbury Museum.
The only negative point I felt was when I made a mistake on EFTPOS. I felt quite belittled when the cashier told me she had time to waste.
The hotel has car parking sufficient for guests but the car park is normally quite full. There is more car parking around the back of the hotel.
There are rooms with a spa but you need to book in advance as they are very popular. Worthy of definitely checking out and staying a night or two.

A. P.We stayed here for a birthday treat and a touch of luxury whilst travelling. It was our first night in New Zealand and a great welcome as soon as we experienced the efficient and attentive check-in. The Park Suite we stayed in was magnificent with a huge bed, spa bath, double shower and living room with views if Hagley Park. We were well settled in by concierge and instructed in all the amenities. 200mb Internet Access is included for free allowing access to two devices.
We had a three course meal in 50 Bistro included in our package. We were pleased overall just the dessert that failed to deliver on its promise and a long wait for our entree whilst a large party were served their mains but the staff did apologise once our food arrived. We also enjoyed breakfast the next morning and the staff were attentive with refills and extra toast. Luggage storage was efficient and the hotel is conveniently located for a walk around the city.
We really enjoyed our stay here, felt the experience whilst one of the most expensive places we've stayed was good value, and we look forward to taking George the Bear as we continue our travels.
T.Any how they gave us good advice on where to go and the breakfast was fine. Saw groups of dolphins passing by and I count that as an added bonus. For a luxury and convenient stay in Christchurch, the George is my preferred pick, and I will gladly return.

T.There is nothing particularly wrong with the George. New entertainment system in the rooms although the price of a movie rental is more than you could just buy the DVD. The location is convenient to the city which is undergoing a massive rebuilding as a result of the last earthquake.

T.HMMM bit disappointed in this so called small luxury hotel of the world. The hotel has special environmental features which mean if you're not in the room. As the hotel was on the main road all you get all night is boy racers with their exhaust systems and blasting music all night.

S. S.Comfortable beds, warm atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff, especially Mark. A lovely place to stay.
W.(Translated) The waiter's attitude is very good, professional, and can be said to have excellent performance. We arrived at the hotel a little earlier, and when they checked the room, they were waiting for us to wait for us to drink. The drink is coming soon, but the room is ready at the same time and can go up. The waiter then sent our baggage along with the drink to our room. What a great service.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, even in the old hotel, but they are well maintained and not old. Tea bags are full of coffee, as well as toasters and toothbrushes.
There are also bear dolls and chocolate gifts.

服務員的態度十分好，專業，可以說是有卓越的表現。我們早了一點到酒店，在她們查看房是否準備好時，為免我們等候，招待我們喝飲品。飲品很快來到，但房間亦同時準備好，可以上去。於是服務員就把我們的行李連同飲品一同送上我們的房間。真是非凡的服務。
房間寬敞整潔又舒適，即使是舊酒店，但保養得很好，沒感到陳舊。茶包咖啡充足，還有多士爐，牙刷。
還有熊毛公仔及朱古力贈送。
T.部屋が清潔に保たれている。３日間、観光はとにかく体力消耗するので快適かつサービスの行き届いたホテルは大切だと実感しました。食事の内容はとても良かったです。たいへんいいホテルだと思う。
T.スタッフがとても丁寧で安心でした。部屋はシングルのツイン部屋でしたが広かったです。ホテルのデザインがすごくかわいい。
