Highly recommend this backpackers. Amazing location in the cbd close to everything. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The backpackers were modern with everything you needed right there. Would definitely go back! A+

A modestly priced Hostel, given the central location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is clean, because the facilities don't enable much more than boiling an egg or heating TV dinners in the microwave. There are nice dining options close by. If you like cooking, Southwark Hotel is a nice option

My stay at Urbana was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience, the premises are kept very clean well managed and at a superb location. Friendly and very helpful staff……I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, if had the opportunity to. Cheers Ray

Tucked around the corner from the iconic New Regent Street shopping district, this is the perfect location to get the most out of Christchurch's eclectic mix of bars and eateries. If you stay here, you must go to Child Sister for coffee in the morning, which is like having your own personal barista right at your front doorstep. Parking is is also available right outside the entrance. The accomodation itself was clean and spacious, the service was friendly and responsive. All in all this is great value for money that puts you right at the heart of Christchurch; and is a perfect place to stay for the cost-conscious traveller who doesn’t want to worry about travelling to where the action is.

I grabbed one of the $59 single rooms. Room was tidy, staff are friendly and helpful and I would be more than happy to stay here again. It does exactly what it says on the box.

I had a low expectation of the hostels in the city, but I would definitely stay at Urbanz again. Good service and attention from the staff, the impeccable cleanliness of the hostel and the perfect location to walk around the city and take the bus to go to the beach . Thank you for your service in the night, you saved me.

The best affordable option when I stay in Chch, friendly staff, lovely rooms, good clean showers and toilets, close to city centre, they provide towels and bedding. Definitely worth a visit and stay.

Value for money for a double room, good location, free shower gel available in the shared bathroom. Poor sound proof, can hear noises on the corridor, earplug highly recommended for light sleeper or buy from reception. Friendly staff for allowing earlier check in and arranging room to be cleaned out the spot. Free parking by accommodation depends on luck.

Had a great time and cheap and good place to stay ,free parking is 5 minutes walk away at cambridge terrace. Otherwise all good

Great accommodation and facilities in good Christchurch location. Four of us stayed in a 3 bed room for $84. I appreciated the good quality sheets, pillows and heating. Everything was good

Great idea and a good community vibe. This must have been quite nice when it was first done but has not been looked after and seems to be run on the minimum. The staff seem friendly enough. Suggestions: don't offer breakfast if you can't cater for it properly. Waiting until staff remember mid-morning to offer cornflakes doesn't cut it. Also, it would be great to offer bath mats, a hand towel, and maybe thicker pillows.

Need to improve: *Long term guests* Will be nicer if the long term stay guests didn't put their clothes everywhere in the drawers and use up almost every hanger in the room 230. P.s One long term girl uses scented candle in the room and that's not safe..and it's not like everyone will appreciate the smell. *Kitchen* There are no proper cook top in the kitchen. One of the toaster burned my bread. Highlights: The receptionists and the cleaning lady are helpful and friendly. Most of the guests are nice as well.

Nice place, comfortable and local to cafes, parks, river, city.

This hostel is located at very convenient place considering the connectivity to airport or central bus station. The hostel is very good. I forgot to check if there is a lift as rooms are. Located on 1st floor and cafe, common area, reception and all are at ground floor.also, I saw people carrying luggage through stairs to room so people who have issue to climb stairs please check before booking. Room size is good. Cupboard if I remembered is quite small so be thoughtful about your luggage storage.

It was an average hostel. Location is good, the staff was also very nice. The first room they gave us had 2 more people but the room was a mess so had to change the room. They gave us another room which was clean & cozy. Their kitchen isn’t the best though. Very few cooking stations for such a large hostel.

Great stay! My group and I stayed there this past October. We arrived around 5:30/6:00 AM after a looooong flight. The staff was so friendly, they prepared our room asap so we were able to use it in the next hour. The ktichen is super clean, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are great. Excellent work guys!

This place is great. Very fancy. Hostel has its own pool table, bar, car park, wifi and fireplace. It is in an ideal location, makes it easy to get to everything in town. Comfy beds, free towels. Can't fault it.

I stayed in a private room at this hostel and it was a great compromise between a hotel and a hostel dorm room. The room was a good size and layout for my needs and clean. Showers and toilets were plentiful and clean.

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Was super clean and the staff was lovely. They let me store my insulin in the fridge behind reception, which was really nice! Really clean bathroom with shower stalls and the kitchen is huge!

Big kitchen, big lounge and big place, Its not so crowded because it's roomy here. A little bit too big for my taste honestly but it is a big hostel. Otherwise everything is quality, clean rooms and facilities, except beds are like the squeakiest things I've ever heard. Bar here actually have decent prices and it's cool that you can still byo to the hostel. Staff was gold as far as I'm concerned, so helpful.

Beds were really comfy and the location is perfect. However, the place is huge and it gets crowdy easily, so if you prefer smaller, more family-like hostels, you will probably not be extremely happy with the choice. But the price for the accommodation is good and the place is really clean and well - maintained.

We had a great stay in Urbanz. Our little private room was without window, but it was all we needed for our time in Christchurch. Expect a lot of people in the kitchen around 8 pm so it gets quite dirty, but it's rapidly cleaned up before the next morning. Would stay again!

Brilliant hostel. Great rates and brilliant value for money. This hostel has an awesome social area and facilities. Friendly staff that go the extra mile. Feels very homely for long term stay. Has everything you could need and is very central. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in Christchurch.

Very cheap accomodation including showers, restrooms, leisure rooms, a kitchen etc. The rooms are clean and there's a wide variety to choose from. The personnel is also extremely friendly. A very nice Hostel/Hotel for anyone in Christchurch.

Urbanz has some very nice double rooms, there is a locker for your valueables I believe. It features a shower and toilet, which is very neat. The whole place seems very tidy and modern in design. It is one of the best hostels that we have lived in on our tour around the south island. Even though Christchurch city does not have the same charm as other cities in New Zealand

I loved staying here. Great large and modern common kitchen, and common room, small bar facility available. Has a laundry room which I didn't use. Showers avail 24/7 and were good. No hair dryers or available plugs in bathrooms though. Swipe-in, secure, clean rooms. Very cosy, upgraded double comes with towels & bed linen, a lockable wardrobe, heater, TV (Freeview only) and I had external windows which was great. The double bed wouldn't have fit two people, or any tall people, but was great for one average-height person. I would've appreciated an extra blanket in the room as it was cold. The light under the door all night was problematic but a rolled up towel fixed that. I wouldn't pay for a locker padlock in the upgraded double as noone else goes in your room & it's swipe access.

Good hostel, good location, lockers in the room, but the kitchen was a mess.. very desorganized and dirty..the corridors were very confused, and the sign as well.. can't imagine the place in a emergency situation. I forgot my pants at the room when I checked out, called the staff after a few ours and they never gave me an answer.. they could be more helpful...

Stayed in a single bed bedroom with shared bathroom. Room was small but cosy, with a small wall mounted TV with freeview TV, and wall heater. For quick a transit with privacy, the room was perfect with reasonable price. The location was walking distance to the Intercity bus stop and close to some restaurants so it was perfect. The only downside was audible TV from the next room. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice place to stay. Every morning, I can hear the garbage truck taking trash near my window. It's quite a nuisance in the morning. The staffs are very friendly. This place is child friendly. I particularly like the movie watching in the lounge, the kitchen and convenient to do my laundry & get good food nearby.

Had a great stay, kitchen is really good! Our room didn't have any windows which was fine but there was also quite thin walls.

Good location, friendly staff, very many bathrooms so not having to wait, clean, sockets and lockers for each bed. I think the atmosphere is good too though I didn't stay long enough to experience it.

First of all I must say the WiFi (which is unlimited) is extremely good for a Hostel. And the rooms are big enough for 4 People. But the kitchen is really small there is only space for 4 people to cook.

Good backpackers with great facilities for overnight or longer weekly stays. Kitchen facility a bit chaotic when busy, keep food in the fridge well marked / hidden - we had food stolen. Two flights of stairs upto the top rooms, so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage like we did in excess of 30 kgs - or bad knees etc. Parking available out the back in an empty lot if needed - you will need to get a numbered pass to park or you'll be towed. Would stay again, if in the area.

Affordably priced accommodation, Central location, close to everything, I could literally see New Regent St from my back window, lovely easy going staff, showers and kitchen all good. Highly recommended!

One of the best places for backpackers, youths, tourists and anyone searching for temporary accomodation in Central Christchurch! They were a super saver when i was lost in this new city. Really comfy and neat beds with room heater. Also, don't miss to budge into the huge first floor kitchen to see the glass view of the reconstructed city.

They need a better, and more easily accessible car park but the staff were very friendly and there was a large kitchen area that was fully stocked with the things you needed to cook a decent meal. The room was small and the walls were very thin, though the bed was comfortable.

Stayed at Urbanz for 4 months. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The lounge area has plenty of nice couches and chairs with cosy fireplaces and a big central tv with Netflix included. The 4 bed dorm rooms were comfortable and heated, however a bit small, although it doesn't matter too much if you spend your free time in the nice kitchen or lounge. There is plenty of space to store food on shelves or in a fridge. There are enough utensils and cooking facilities, however it can get busy during the evenings. I'd recommend staying here whether it's long or short term, definitely worth it. Will be staying here again in the near future.

Really nice well equipped hostel. Would happily stay again. The beds were really comfy and all had their own power outlets. My Only complaint would be the weird WiFi restrictions. They give you tickets for 1gb of data, but mine ran out super fast and they we're happy to give me a second. This is the only hostel Ive ever visited with this, and Ive visited some pretty remote hostels that I'm sure pay alot more for their connections.

Stayed in the single room, nice n tidy & warm.Toilets n shower nice n clean. Wouldve given a 5 but the night manager wasnt very friendly & 2 nights in a row I arrived to go up to my room & there was alcohol mess left by other tenants all over the reception/bar/pool table area. If reception is unmaned at night - there should be at least a long term tenant/s that can do a sweep of the place to clear this stuff away? Or get the tenants to have the decency to pick up after themselves - as its a real eye sore!!!!

Simply said best hostel in New Zealand! They have awesome staff friendly receptionists and cleaners. Besides a few reviews saying its a small kitchen it's NOT its a big one with Induction plates an oven and a lot of space to sit and eat with aOan window side to eat and watch people on the skatepark etc.. Although its very clean, the mattresses are huge compared to other hostels and you even have weekly rates which are pretty cheap so good for longterms aswell. I lived here for 4 month while working in christchurch and couldnt find any better hostel. And it even has the best spot in central christchurch. Bonus: Eli :)

Pretty good accomodation, met some cool people...shame no one on reception has a sense of humour except the management but I think that may be a language barrier thing as they are all backpackers. We enjoyed our stay comfy beds etc...only bug bare was how gross it was that they didn't wash the douvet covers on any beds! Stayed in one room for over a week and had over 4 people staying on the other bunks all of whom stayed over a few days at a time and not once were the douvets changed. Just sprayed with some chemical! 😂Very gross. Bathrooms were ok but need updating and not the cleanest.

Great hostel, in fact one of the best I have stayed in. Good clean facilities, late check in, a large common area, decent wifi and good friendly staff. The only let down is the cooking and fridge facilities in the kitchen aren't upto the rest of the place's standard.

I really love this accomadation. The style of the hostel is very nice. It dosent even look like a bagpacker. Its more like a fancy hotel or eventhouse. The kitchen is pretty big and includes everything you could need, the bathrooms are big and clean all the times. The area at the ground floor is just amazing. There are a few chillout areas, a big cinema area which looks really nice, a computer cornor, a pooltable and a dartsboard. Its the perfect place to have your own little party, meet new people and enyoj your time. The Urbanz is located in the middle of the city, so you can step out the door and have heaps of oppertunitys without beeing afraid of your own transport. Also they have parkingspots for their visitors which is pretty good, cause parking in Christchurch is quit hard and really expensive. You should go there :)

Very good place to stay in Christchurch I've actually stayed here 2 times and the 2 times I wasn't disappointed. They are close to the city centre and yet on a quiet street with a good view. The rooms are equipped with a locker and at least 1 plug per bed (and next to each bed in a very accessible place) with a little touch that is really clever : a phone holder next to the plug. They have a big kitchen with a lot of space. The living room is a cosy place with a big tv and couches, board games, pool, darts. They have an information board displaying everything to do during your week stay. The best part is the bar, lots of choices to help you and your friends decompressing while watching tv or play pool/darts. The only down point is the internet that seems to be working on and off. Sometimes it's excellent and sometimes you have no connections at all which is really frustrating sometimes... That's why I only put 4 stars. Besides that it's a really great place to stay while in Christchurch.

Let's start with the positive: The facility is nice and clean. The rooms are ok in size, beds are good. Each bed gets 2 power plugs and the bathrooms are fine. Not so positive: The place is horribly run. Not only is the manager unkind, he is also unhelpful. When I asked him what the airport shuttle options were, his answer was: "I dont know". He is too lazy to check people in and sighs every time when asked to do so before he pawns it off to the staff on duty. The lockers are way too narrow and for some reason they have those locks that you have to turn left and right into specific digits like in a traditional bank robbing movie. Impossible to open. Every single person in the room needed assistance from the staff. The room I was in was overbooked, meaning that they had to kick a girl out late night. Again, manager wasn't very nice about it. (Even though it was their mistake.) Also, the dorm rooms have no fan or a/c. It gets uncomfortably warm. Atmosphere? None. This place has less atmosphere than a hospital. There is no kitchen. The common area has chairs and tables like you're in a bar. A bar you don't want to be in. There is no music. Instead there is a tv in the middle of the place with chairs lined up like you're watching a movie in class. It's also more expensive than most hostels. There is no free wifi. It costs $3 per hour. Conclusion, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Especially not backpackers who are looking for accommodation with a positive vibe.

Rooms were inexpensive, very nicely kept with plenty of locker space, showers were hot with good water pressure and the kitchen was very clean. Good service and any help was very promptly provided.

Excellent service, great little room, nice location, very comfy and convenient. Only downside was the recycling bin being downstairs from our window and it was rubbish day.

I found this place is ideal for backpacker. Clean, tidy, safe, spacious and money worthy what else do you need to stay. I love this place and also it is right in a city center. So anywhere do we want to go it's been easy.

New accommodation in downtown Christchurch. When we visited the construction in the city made driving a pain. The hostel had convenient parking. The rooms are comfortable but the pillows are a but flat. Everything was clean and the kitchen.

Stayed for two nights while attending the SEWF 2017. Great location to Isaac Theatre Royal where most of the plenary were held so perfect for me. A short walk to Central bus station. Reception staff day and night efficient very helpful and hospitable. They went out of their way to be accommodating. Rooms are clean and adequate with lots of bathroom facilities including women only amenities. I used the kitchen each day to prepare my own breakfast. Ear plugs would be helpful if your a light sleeper. Would highly recommend. Thanks Urbanz perfect little stay and thanks Christchurch you turned it on for us. Nga mihi

Yeah I enjoyed myself there. The only issue I had was there was a plastic bag tied around the smoke detector and I told the staff at the reception but it took 2 days for him to come and take it off. I couldn't reach it or I would have done it myself

Very nice backpackers, great beds! Lots of room, close to all of the must-sees in town. Rooms by kitchen VERY noisy so take earplugs! 😉

Hostel very quiet or Chrischurch is quiet city with less population? Clean, good in facility, hair dryer, clean bathroom and you don't need to queue, hot water, room was nice and clean...

Only popped in to get the rates but staff (Robert on front desk) were super helpful and knowledgeable. Place is really clean and has some great social areas from what I've seen.

Urban accommodation is ok. Very close to the city centre, you can actually walk there. Just ok as a structure but at least clean enough. Perhaps a little too expensive for what it has to offer.

It's a good place to stay. Due to street repairs around the place it was quite busy and sometimes noisy. The music in the foyer is sometimes disturbing, it's a question of your favour.

(Translated) Great hotel, we slept in a dormitory: the beds are big and comfortable, the sheets smell good (it's a detail but that's important!), The lockers are big too and the curtains are very thick, if you wish sleep a little after sunrise! The hotel is very well located not far from the bus stops. All this for a very reasonable price. I recommend without hesitation! (Original) Super hôtel, nous avons dormis dans un dortoir : les lits sont grands et confortables, les draps sentent bon (c'est un détail mais c'est important !), les casiers sont grands aussi et les rideaux sont bien épais, si vous souhaitez dormir un peu après le lever du soleil ! L'hôtel est très bien situé non loin des arrêts de bus. Tout ça pour un prix très raisonnable. Je recommande sans hésitation !

Ich persönlich würde allerdings ein kleineres Hostel, wie zum Beispiel das old country House vorziehen.
