K. D.Lovely little motel. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Some rooms overlook the local golf course with nice views over the countryside. The room was spacious, very clean and fresh. It was quiet, but close to the mall, for buying essentials and restaurants. Easy and pleasant walk via the greenways to the heritage area.
C. M.basic and very clean motel that is good value for money. Booked it at last minute for 1 night due to a change of travel plans and it was easy to do. We got a confirmation email soon after booking. On arrival we asked to stay for 2 nights and Tony sorted it straight away.
What makes it different from other motels is the welcome. Tony and Carrina are very welcoming, helpful and are excellent hosts. Lovely quiet location near to town centre and a pleasant walk to the heritage precinct.

B. S.We were fortunate to get a last min booking during the holidays. The LDM did not let down what we have experienced with other motels in NZ. It was simple, not fancy by any means, but it was clean and in good shape. I have stayed in 4 star major brand hotels that were not as good as this.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

T. W.Lovely, very well equipped and comfortable motel in the heart of Cromwell, a very scenic part of Central Otago. Everything worked, was of high quality and what really set this place apart was the quality of the welcome from Carrina and Tony who take great care and interest in their guests. I will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend this as either a stopover or for a longer stay.
S. M.Had such a lovely stay here. Service was so good, happy to accomodate me with a late checkout (10am is a bit much some days!) and had a great chat upon check in. Felt totally comfortable. Room was clean, quiet, spacious and everything worked well. Located super close to food and beer which is ideal. Highly recommend. Also noticed there is bbq and picnic tables etc if it’s summer and you’re not wanting to dine out!
Y. N.Great location between Queenstown, Wanaka, Lake Tekapo for day trips, and very close to the heritage district if driving. Walkable distance to restaurants. Very close to a petrol station as well. Room and faciltiies were very clean, interior was spacious and organised. Owners were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Would stay here again.
a. w.Great place to stay, just a few minutes walk from the bus stop and mall so it made it very easy to get there with my packed up bike! Very friendly staff and great tips on the trail and where to go for bike mechanics (Lake Dunstan Bike trails were able to help me out). Plenty of space in the room and everything I needed in the kitchen, good shower and a good night's sleep.
c. a.Room was tidy and presentable, spacious. Kitchen cabinetry a bit outdated but had everything required including filter coffee. Great location. Great moteliers. Friendly and worked in with local restaurant for specials for guests. thoughtful enough to put sheets over cars windscreens overnight to prevent them being frosted over thumbs up for that thoughtful and forward thinking.

L. C.Loved this Hotel tucked beside the golf course. The room was spacious with a nice kitchen area. The bed was comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was great. The Motel was a classic Kiwi motel next to more modern ones. I liked this one better. We stayed three nights, and would definitely return in the future!

Cromwell is a quiet modern small town and had everything you need as a local without exorbitantly high prices of the tourist hotspots!!

Tony and Carrina are friendly, helpful and very accommodating, as two of us needed a room and the other couple had a caravan, which we were allowed to park at the motel. Motel is very close to the town shops. Would stay again if in Cromwell.
L. D.Lake Dunstan Motel is a little hidden gem in Cromwell. I can’t say enough about this cute little place. The rooms are large with a comfy bed, side chairs, small kit hen and a dining table. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you might need to cook a meal or just enjoy breakfast out on your patio when the weather is nice. There is even a bbq available for guest use. The rooms are super clean and have a great heater. Check in went smooth and everyone is so pleasant. You are walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants. You won’t be disappointed if you book here!

H. F.A most welcoming motel. Check in was a pleasure. The room was very spacious, with a patio door at the rear overlooking the golf course and the hills behind. A bench to sit on plus a picnic table allowed us to sit out to enjoy the evening sun and to watch the golfers. We walked to the water front and old town area - a 20 minute walk. The new town centre, including supermarket was 5 minutes away. The room was well equipped, and had aircon.
I have scored as 5 as 4 would be too low. On a scale of 1 to 10 I’d go for 9 simply as some of the decor is showing its age. I understand that the owners are new, and feel confident that given their enthusiasm, they will spruce up the rooms when necessary over the coming months.
I’d certainly pick here again, and would recommend to others.

This is the only place in my many travels that someone has bothered to cover my car to protect it from a heavy frost. I came back to the motel after 11.00 pm and woke up at 07.00 to find it had been covered.
A very big plus for being so thoughtful.
The outlook onto the golf course is good too.
L. W.Motel is close to town centre, but in a nice quiet area. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I particularly liked the sustainability initiatives (refillable soap/shampoo etc rather than single use small bottles, and paper bin liners). The unit is a bit dated, but it was clean, there was no mould, and the unit was well-equipped. One minor thing is that some areas of carpet were quite dirty/stained.
G. D.The two new owners of the hotel were so lovely and helpful. I accidentally forgot an item in the storage room and they went out of their way to return it to me. It is a great, clean hotel with comfy beds. I would recommend staying here.
N. F.Arrived an hour early but wasnt a problem to host who was really lovely and friendly. These motels are old!! But are some of the cleanest ive ever stayed in, your staff are a credit to you!!|We had a unit overlooking golf course so quite entertaining at times, and very peaceful,also having outdoor furniture to sit outside and eat and drink, fabulous big well looked after grounds here|Bed was really comfy and great for bikers as you can pop your bike in their locked up garage.|Shower was good also they supplied shampoo and body wash|Everything was in the room that was needed, but just wondering if they may update in the future and a heated towel would be great, especially in winter, thanks for having us.
K. P.The place was warm and inviting when I arrived after a long day travelling, heatpump in and curtains pulled; and they made sure I knew where to go to get some good food.
And then when I walked out in the morning, they had thrown a sheet over the front windscreen of my vehicle so it wasn't iced over, made the start of my day that much better.
It was a fantastic stay, and I'll definitely be back when I need accommodation in Cromwell, or in Central Otago in general, next. Will also highly recommend to friends, family and colleagues.

W. D.We have stayed at this property multiple times over the last 5 years and it is our preferred place of stay when visiting cromwell.
Studio room is generous in size. The suite is always immaculate and has that 'just been cleaned' feel that is so very important when staying in motel/hotel accommodation.
Separate toilet from the bathroom , extra pillows, tea and coffee options, generous milk portions and window dressings to name a few are all extras that make the stay that much more enjoyable.
Parking is also generous - we were in a Ford Ranger.
M. M.Great stay. Issue with the fridge but owner sorted it. Only thing I would ask is a sharp knife that is actually sharp. We stayed 3 nights and it was great. Comfy bed and very clean. Would definitely stay again.

J. R.We had four nights at Lake Dunstan Motel and were delighted to be staying there. Our room was spacious, light and airy (on the corner with windows two sides) with a beautiful view over the golf course and lots of entertainment watching players. Not a new motel but spotlessly clean and very well equipped and comfortable.. Easy walk to supermarket, cafes etc and lovely pathway right outside running along the side of the golf course to the Heritage Precinct. With lots of outside space it would also be good for families and perfect for golfers and cyclists. The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful. It was a real pleasure to stay here and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the motel or return there.

T. G.We got pretty late to check in yet the front desk personnel were vary corporative. I travelled through the Southern Island and this was one of the few Motels that I would have no hesitation to stay again at.
Only recommendation from me is to maybe install new Microwaves since the existing ones are pretty old and take effort to figure out how to work with them.
P.We stayed here 4 nights and had a great stay. Very friendly hosts, clean rooms, comfortable beds and excellent location close to restaurants and shops. Would recommend to anyone and would certainly stay there again on our next visit to Cromwell
s.Excellent units, super clean, wonderfully kept grounds which you can relax in, away from the noise of the town. Excellent hosts, nothing is to much, and only 5 minutes walk from the centre, with views over the golf course. We stayed for 3 nights.
A. S.What a lovely place to stay! Carrina and her family went an extra mile for us by storing our bicycles in the garage for three days (even while we spent one night in wanaka). So it is the perfect place for people cycling the Sounds2Sounds or the Lake Dunstan Trail. The view was very nice, it was calm and the rooms really comfortable and clean, the mall with restaurants and cafes not far. Thank you so much for having us, we would definitely come back!

C. S.I highly recommend this motel. It is off the main road so it's very quiet. My room (No. 9) looked out to the golf course so it was very private and I had a beautiful view of frost covered lawn and the hills beyond. Excellent heating facilities - heat pump and electric blankets. New World within walking distance. I'll stay here again and I'll be recommending this motel to family and friends.

M.Excellent value, very clean and well presented room. Everything I needed and nothing missing. I very much enjoyed the view I had over the golf course. So nice to lay in bed and watch the winter sun rise. Short walk to town made it very convenient.

It was delicious! We recommend 100% and is just 10 minutes by car from the Cromwell centre.

Bill and Judy are very welcoming and easy going hosts and the cooked breakfast sets you up for the day.||The location is about 5-6 kms from Cromwell so you need transport but the location right on the lake is stunning.||We will come again!
