W.I hugely recommend this place! We were wowed when we entered the room, or safe to say, a small apartment! It included a spacious kitchenette and living room (with tv) overlooking the main street with huge windows, a huge bedroom (another tv), overlooking the same road and a very spacious bathroom. We really loved this place and appreciated the effort put to make each guest happy and comfortable. The owners and their daughter were super nice and genuine, it's so sad we had to stay for only 1 night. Would stay here for sure if we had to return to Dunedin!

J.A very comfortable stay. 858 features fast internet (free, always a plus), a spacious room and surprisingly spacious bathroom to match, kitchenette, a little private balcony and, to make up for the lack of room service I suppose, a great number of menus and contact phone numbers for local restaurants to get delivery if need be. The man at reception graciously gave my wife and I a full run down on the local sites and places to visit. Did run out of hot water too quick though.
Overall an enjoyable stay for three nights. Would come back again.
L.We felt so lucky to have found such a lovely place to stay in Dunedin and we hated to leave. Sally and Michael are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The apartments are charming, spacious and spotlessly clean. Other reviews mentioned noise, but while we were there we admired how quickly enforcement officers responded to a situation and resolved the issue. We slept very well. Dunedin is a fun and lively university town and this location is close to everything-campus, groceries, shopping, and downtown.
N.I loved this place. It is located within walking distance from the town center and the Botanic gardens which I highly recommend visiting. The property was very well maintained. The room we had was decorated in a really comfortable homie ad tasteful way. It had everything necessary and a lot of natural light- perfect for a couple.
S.Stylish modern rooms, customisable to suit singles, couples or multiple families. Set in Victorian style houses, the rooms are really cute and very comfortable, they've thought of everything you might need.
I have stayed here multiple times over the years.

A.We love this motel! We last visited Dunedin 18years ago and stayed at 858 and we had such fond memories of the place, well we finally managed to get down to Dunedin this weekend and to stay at 858 again and bring our 3 kids this time.
The place was better than we remembered, the location and facilities are great, and Sally and Michael are fabulous local hosts who know the town and its attractions. Staying at 858 really made our trip quite special.
R.We had a wonderful stay at 858 George Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable and it was close to the town centre. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, even arranging to send on a toy which one of our children left behind after our stay. Highly recommended!
K.We had a three night stay, the room was spacious, clean, and tidy. The staff even washed up and put away a couple of items we had left soaking in the kitchen sink.
The towels and toiletries were replenished on a daily basis, along with the selection of tea and coffee.
Only a short walk to the centre of town and most of the local attractions, a great spot and friendly hosts.
We shall return next time we are in town.
M.Dunedin's accommodation of choice for me. Super homely, clean warm and beautiful. Michael & Sally have been hosts to me here for 19years and counting!
P.Huge, comfy bed, fantastic bath and bathroom, warm and everything was clean. A huge bonus was the free wifi and off street parking. Friendly local Dunedinite owners couldn’t do enough. Thanks for my mini break and “I’ll be back “ :)
G.Arrived late and heaters were on , place was toasty warm ! The man was More than happy to take a late breakfast order which was great as we were leaving early the next morning.
