Good Value for Money. Clean, comfortable beds, good tv channel options you can watch, near food shops and city centre. Free laundry to wash clothes from 2-8pm. Old property, has limited cooking pans and no exhaust/extraction fans in the kitchen, no exhaust in the bathroom/showed, the mirror and walls will be filled with mist after a hot shower. You have to look and find the hairdryer, and this property needs proper lighting/security light by the stairs going up to the second floor, too dark at night.

Thought I had already reviewed this place but I guess not, if it popped again on my contribution board. Stayed here with my daughters and absolutely loved it there; the staff are nice and friendly and quite helpful, the room that I had with my children was just “wow” because it had a bed for them both and one bed for myself, which I absolutely loved, the unit also had its own kitchen area, and bathroom (bath tub, shower and toilet). And got to do the kids and it’s laundry downstairs at the allocated times (purchased a few $1 laundry sachets from reception) and used the dryer there - free of charge or like covered under the cost of my stay there 😊 and the parking was alright, but you have to hurry to get the ones closer to entrance since it seems people come back during the evenings.

It is like travelling back in time and space, maybe around spain in the 80s! Quirky but exceptionally clean and well maintained rooms, minutes away from Uni by foot.

Very tidy and spacious, good bed. Not great water pressure in the shower.

Had a wonderful stay at the Alcala, the staff were amazing, they really took care of us. Lovely big room and comfortable bed! Fiona the receptionist was great also.

It was okay. Nice to have free parking in Dunedin. Not too expensive.

Medium priced motel with easy walk of town centre. Huge rooms, well appointed and very friendly staff. Best value in Dunedin if you want to be close to town. Rooms are always spotless and smell fresh and clean.

Gary is a lovely guy, very welcoming. Enjoy the spa with a few wines.

Stayed 2 nights, travellers from Auckland. Friendly service, able to change our room with no fuss due to paint fumes from newly painted room. Nice comfy beds, glad we had electric blankets and the room had heaters. Reasonable price. No lift,we were on the third floor but didnt mind the exercise. Fully self contained.

Love the Alcala, Came here 40 years ago and it is still beautiful. All updated inside with very comfortable beds. The price for the family unit is incredibly reasonable. The front of house service was also exceptionally good. Very clean and everything worked well.Thank you so much.

Love the place! Its clean and house keeping is amazing. Stayed 2 nights. No hesitation in recommending to others. It's a great place. If you're in Dunedin then it's a must to check this one out.👍🌻👍

Lovely and clean. Very obliging staff who keep you well supplied. Just older style. Some upgrading would work well. Very handy location. Shame the spa was out of action due to covid.

Nice enough place with nice staff. Very convenient to 24 hour food. The buildings are dated inside but perfectly functional. Wifi is not fast but I think it depends on what room you are in.

Clean motel. It is in a good place in Dunedin making it very convenient to buy groceries, visit Otago University or dine in at one of the nearby restaurants. Parking is a little difficult due to limited space and many cars.

Room 12, large lounge with a mezzanine floor above where there were 4 single beds just off the lounge a room with a double bed. Standard kitchen with microwave and standard bathroom. All in all the room was very clean and the service was great, only down side was water pressure of the shower

I have been coming to Alcala Motel for years and they are fantastic. Friendly staff, great rooms and easy to find.

Great room size and comfortable bed. Very fast wifi which would be great for Netflix users. Good size kitchen if you planned to stay a few nights. Close enough to town to walk if you desired.

Pros: The place (building) is nice, it looks new and rennovated, appliances are fantastic, cookware is available, the services are magnificent Cons: glass design makes you to choose between sunlight or privacy, as the bed next to the glass door and outside corridor, very noisy during day and night (not recommended for students and any other examinations applicants)

Warm dry lovely staff needs some updating in the bathroom (bits missing rough silicon Jobs) otherwise very good will most likely stay again

We liked the location on the main street, an easy walk to town centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything worked and was clean. Older style eclectic décor. Only downside really was the bed , which was unsupportive and felt like a stack of cardboard boxes.

Nice and central. Room was clean and nice. Only issues were shower didnt work properly and wifi kept cutting out.

Friendly helpful reception. Rooms bit shabby but very clean & had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable. Only 5min walk to shops & cafes.

Loved this hotel. Lovely guy at the reception with a wealth of knowledge. Large room, comfortable bed, comfortable seating area. Great sized kitchen. Easy access to carpark. Cant fault it.

Reasonable price. We booked and paid for family room but didn't get. Bathroom needs to be cleaned properly otherwise, ok.

I haven't stayed there but I've visited a friend there and I was quite impressed with the suite they were it. It was like self contained apartment. Affordable too. So they've really over delivered.

Clean, comfortable...but some basic maintenance wouldn't go astray.And the only view from the unit was an unappealing view of a large boat immediately outside.

Staying with the alcala while my daughter was having treatment at the hospital, was extremely happy with the alcala services, would highly recommend :)
