D.Excellent service from very friendly and obliging Hosts. Unit was spotless and well equipped with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower over the spa bath. Very close to the City Centre, shops and eateries and very quiet given proximity to main street. The Hosts kindly stored our bikes in the garage. Highly recommend and we would definitely stay again.

The location of the Motor Lodge is amazing with it being a quick stroll to he University, eateries and shopping. Would totally recommend.
M.Robyn and her team are amazing! I had a forced visit to Dunedin hospital after and accident on the 11th of Feb and being from Wellington finding this place near by was key as I was in a leg brace and on crutches. They made the paraplegic room available to me and made sure the others in our party were looked after by juggling rooms around . They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a stress free as possible. We didn't know exactly how long we would be there and that didn't worry them at all.
Great location for the Hospital and plenty of places to eat etc withing walking distance.

S.Robyn has been so helpful and flexible both times I have stayed at Alexis while a family member was undergoing treatment at Dunedin Hospital. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped for medium length stays. It's close to lots of shops and facilities. Nothing is too much trouble and Robyn will make sure you are informed about anything you accidentally left behind!! Always my first choice for accommodation in Dunedin.
L.I have had the pleasure at staying in the Alexis Motor Lodge a couple of times and every time I have stayed it has been nothing short of wonderful. The staff are always lovely and postive, with Robyn in my recent staying helping me take my bags from my flat in her car to the motel. This kind of hospitality is something which does not go unnoticed and I am so incredibly grateful. Not only are the staff incredible but the facilities are wonderful, they are always clean and tidy, a great place to be on your next stay in Dunedin!

K.Only stayed for the one night while checking mum into hospital the next day. But I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again as it was comfortable accommodation and very comfortable beds! As others have said the driveway was a little bit scary, but I did get used to it!

M.Staff at Alexis went above and beyond to accommodate me at such short notice when my husband had emergency surgery in Dunedin hospital. Great central location, comfortable clean unit with everything needed to make my stay easy. Robyn even supplied me with a shower seat ready for my husbands discharge. We could not have asked for a better welcome or better hosts - nothing was too much trouble - Robyn, John, Katrina and all the crew go out of their way to help in any way they can - kind and caring at all times.

J.Absolutely fantastic motel to stay at while in Dunedin. We spent 4 nights at Alexis Motor lodge while our son was at a rugby tournament. The room were spacious and super comfortable. P.The Alexis is my home-from-home when down in Dunedin. The rooms are very clean, fantastically furnished and very comfortable indeed. The team at Alexis are so friendly and helpful, it is a pleasure to stay there, every time. The location is ideal, very close to the CBD, with a multitude of restaurants within just a few minutes walk. I recommend staying there most highly.

Close to everything I needed - university, the museum and Lone Star and other restaurants and cafes literally across the road. G.The Alexis is just a fantastic place to stay. Everybody is so friendly and they bend over backwards to help with every possible thing. If you are staying in Dunedin and you don’t stay at the Alexis you really should look in the mirror and have a jolly good look at yourself and then Call The Alexis and book a room it is fantastic

C.We stayed for a week during our daughters operation in Dunedin Hospital. Robyn and the team were very thoughtful and helpful during this time allowing family members to come and go as we needed them to. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and highly recommend them.

R.We love this place. It is so handy to shops, cafes, the Otago Museum, Hospital and Supermarket. Our unit had a generous sized lounge and a big bathroom with a hot tub. The Management and Staff couldn’t be more helpful. We love coming to Alexis from Invercargill.

R.Peaceful room and handy location to museum and shops. The best thing however was the service I got. I was able to get around the difficult parking in town by being allowed to use car park at the unit before check in time.
M.My daughter and I stayed a few days at the Alexis for Otago Open Day. It is a great location only a few minutes walk to Uni. and close to many cafes, restaurants even a convenient Dairy right across the street. Robyn and Katrina were super friendly, kind and helpful. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need stocked in the little kitchen. The cleaning service was also very efficient and done before lunchtime. Also loved the modern bedspread and pillows!

C.We recently spent 2 nights at the Alexis. The staff were professional, friendly and informative, and the unit was spotlessly clean and quiet. Proximity to town and some excellent eating spots is a definite plus. We travelled there for a wedding, and early check in would have been available had we needed it. There is on site parking.
This was our second visit to this motel, and we will definitely be back.

G.Stayed there a couple of days ago with my family. Staff were very friendly and helpful. On the check-out day my wife and I wanted to walk around as the motel is just next to the central area, so asked if we could check out by 11 rather than 10. And no problem for that. The roomy space provided for us 4 undoubtedly met our expectations. The only thing I'd like to remind would-be guests is the shower. Probably due to high demand in wintry weather, hot water almost ran out after 3 showers in tandem. So you may want to have shower at slightly different times if you are more than 3 people, but it shouldn't be any problem once the weather is out of the coldest period.
D.Great motel to stay at, so close to town and hospital. Our unit was very clean, modern, Great size , our furry family member also enjoyed her stay. The bed was so comfortable, and enjoyed the spa bath. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay again.

S.Lovely clean, spacious room and ensuite and friendly staff. The motel is situated on the edge of the main shopping area so fairly quiet but still close to cafes just across the street. Only about 20 minutes walk to both the Octagon and the Botanical Gardens in the other direction. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

R.Our stay at Alexis Motor Lodge was very good. We had an apartment room which was very spacious, super clean & tidy, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It is so close to town, so a quick walk to have a meal out or go shopping, and the owners were really helpful letting us what Dunedin has to offer and directions to get there. Onsite parking right outside our unit too which was great. Thanks for making our few days in Dunedin easy and fun :)

A.We keep coming back here when we need to come to Dunedin. 'Alexis' has the best location and the friendliest, most accommodating service you will find.
A.Great location close to the hospital, main shopping area and loads of bars and eateries. We spent 5 nights here and loved being able to walk to and from the hospital for appointments and to the shops when need-be. Great team (super friendly cleaning staff!) and comfortable, clean rooms. A fair bit of noise on Saturday night from the students which of course the hotel can’t control, but they provided free earplugs and let us know in advance.
C.We made an error when we booked Alexis Motor Lodge (100% our fault) and arrived on a day when they were not expecting us.
The staff and owner were extremely kind and accommodating to us - making every effort and going above and beyond to fix our problem and ensure we had a great stay.
Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and warm. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed.
The location was also excellent. Close to many excellent pubs and restaurants and just short walk to the centre of town.
We would definitely stay again!
M.On the whole a good experience, Very convenient for Dunedin Hospital and University campus, Super helpful landlady, She allowed us to check in early and checkout late. The room was big with three beds and had a giant bath tub with shower. The room could easily sleep four people. So, bang for buck is pretty good, less than $40 a head. The room was quiet and had decent blackout curtains. All the bells and whistles included like Sky, Netflix, Wi-fi etc
C.The Alexis Motor Lodge has always been our go to accommodation in Dunedin. Robyn & John are friendly & gracious hosts. We have stayed with our large family & as a couple. The rooms are spacious, clean & very comfortable. Walking distance to the Stadium, Museums and main shopping area. The free parking is a real bonus. We will be visiting again soon.

l.We had an early morning hospital appointment so elected to stay at Alexis the night before. We found it to be very comfortable, clean and were made to feel welcome. Should we need to stay in Dunedin again, Alexis would be our choice.

M.Upon entering the the reception at the start of my stay till I handed the key back in I had an amazing stay the help that Katrina gave and helped me with was really really good. The motel is close to all that you need from Dunedin. the room was lovely and clean warm upon arrival, the room was spaces very clean and comfy and if you wanted to chill in front of the T.V there where plenty of channels to choose from. Katrina and the staff made my stay just what I wanted and needed I would defiantly be staying there again if I was to stay in Dunedin again. Thank you
R.We enjoyed our stay in one the one bedroom units. Staff were professional and friendly and very accommodating letting us park close to our room so we didn’t have to walk far with a wee baby. The location is fab - walking distance to city and no need to drive and bother with parking elsewhere. There are also great cafes and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend.

C.I had a wonderful stay here at the Alexis Motor Lodge. I stayed for 6 nights at the beginning of Feb. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The wifi was the best I've ever used in any hotel and was important doing a course at Otago Dental Hospital.

L.My husband and I were traveling on the South Island of New Zealand and needed a motel for the evening. After reviewing the comments online, we decided to try it. This was a great find! Cute little motel that is well maintained, well run, rooms very comfortable and extremely clean. The owners are great and you can tell they take pride in their business. The motel was quiet and there is a great steak house across the street. It’s also within walking distance of the downtown city center. Give this motel a try. You won’t be disappointed.
J.Lovely quiet motels so handy to Dunedin Hospital. Owner Robyn went out of her way to accomodate Jude at short notice when I was admitted to hospital and even parked the car for her. She was also able to ensure we had accomodation even when my discharge date kept changing. Comfortable beds, great showers, peace and quiet, super clean units, and Robyn’s genuine concern and assistance made for an enjoyable stay. Robyn really goes the extra mile.

S.Alexis is always our first choice of places to stay in Dunedin. We have been visiting for 12 years and obviously highly rate this motel. Spacious, meticulously clean and well appointed rooms very good value for money as I travel with two children. In the heart of Dunedin CBD.
The hosts and all the staff are welcoming and willing to make you feel at home.
Z.It is very good location in CBD. Room is spacious tidy and has all basic u need. Staff are very friendly and well organized and they txt me on the day of our arrival that is nice to get the confirmation. They have free car park which is nice to have in CBD.
All in all good place and will def Do recommendation if u want something convenient and comfortable and nothing over the top.

Rooms were very clean inside. Motel Manager was so nice and she was very friendly to deal with.
I was slightly muted when we saw the complimentary green ear plugs I was thinking "flip" how loud does it get? However thankfully Babylon wasn't burning in UNI-Ville on this particular weekend - C19 saved the day. Just be prepared for the apocalypse now show ( Dunedin Hospital is 300m away and has a helicopter landing pad that gets target practice.

S.Perfect location for our weekend away to attend the beer festival , easy walking distance to the stadium and all the other sights of Dunedin. The room was lovely, so spacious and clean. Well equipped and all the amenities you would need. Great spa bath and comfy beds. We arrived very late Friday night and our rooms were warm and welcoming and we didn’t need to earplugs once! Woke up to a lovely sunny day and a great view of Knox church from our window. Would stay again for sure.

S.Friendly, family run motel which is almost a Dunedin institute in its own right. The location is within 5 minutes of Dunedin Hospital, Otago University, and the museum as well as being opposite multiple eateries. The room I started in was spacious and clean.

It was an interesting 7 minute walk to the Octagon. The Knox Church Spire can be seen for quite a distance making it easy to find the way back to the Alexis. A.Great motel. Very spacious rooms, warm and tidy. Staff are lovely. We were all surprised to come home every day to find the beds made by house-keeping! The multiple entertainment options on the TV were great, the internet and the heating excellent. The location of the motel is fantastic too - right next to the university, museum and city centre; you don't have to walk far to pick up groceries or go for a meal. We would happily stay here again.

Our "studio" unit was much bigger than we expected, I forgot to ask but suspect we were upgraded. If so, thank you very much and if not, wow! Very convenient for what we wanted - and for dinner, with a Lone Star literally just across the road. Being in the "student quarter" we expected noise but it was not bad at all, didn't need the earplugs!

A.We had a very pleasant experience at the Alexis for two nights. We didn't have a booking, but were given a spacious 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor at a decent price. The apartment had a queen and single bed in the bedroom and another single bed in the living room that allowed my parents a break from my snoring. There was also a couch and small kitchen with table and a bathroom with a functioning bathtub! Everything was clean and the staff was very friendly and informative. The location is excellent with just a five minute walk to the main downtown shopping and eating area. The parking lot is a little tight as the motel is on a hill in the inner city, but I always found a good parking space close to our room so it wasn't as bad as I feared when we first arrived. Even though the motel was in the downtown area, it was easy to drive out to the Otago Peninsula to get to the Albatross Centre. I would definitely recommend the Alexis to others visiting Dunedin and would stay there again if I am back that way again.

The folks running this place are incredibly nice, helpful and friendly. We were late getting some laundry started and when we went down to get change, the woman at the front desk offered to put our laundry in their commercial units to get it done quicker. Not only this, but they also transferred our two loads from the washer to the dryer, and when finished, folded all of our clothing and delivered them to our room. Just incredible service here.

A.Hi, I had a great stay at Alexis. I stayed for two nights. The staff were VERY friendly, the room was very large for the price and clean. The bed was comfortable and it had all the amenities needed + little extras like free Wifi and more. I would definitely stay again.
The only downside I would mention is that it smelt a bit like smoke, which I suppose can’t be helped as it had wafted in from outside, which is not the motels fault.
B.We were in Dunedin to pick up our son after he completed a semester abroad at the University of Otago. I found the Alexis Motor Lodge on line and we were very happy we did. It is located practically adjacent to campus so the location couldn’t have been more convenient for us. It is on George Street so there are also plenty of cafes and restaurants within a very short walk. Robyn couldn’t have been nicer when we checked in. She gave us a map and highlighted the many attractions to see while we were in Dunedin. Our room was large, well furnished and very clean. We were very pleased with every and happily recommend the Alexis.

It was important for me that my partner knew where she was staying before the trip to carlm nerves. D.For 10 years Alexis Motor Lodge has been our motel of choice in Dunedin. Ideally situated, being in close proximity to many Dunedin attractions and retail area. Importantly, is within easy walking distance of Dunedin Hospital, which makes it ideal for hospital stays. Robyn and the team provide wonderful service and hospitality.
M.Clean, well maintained, the hostess/owner is really nice and helpful. It was our second visit, and we don't regret the choice. The motel is in a good location and the price is reasonable. The owners are aware the noise can bother guests and they provide ear plugs may they be needed.
The motel is a bit dated but things are working well and are not broken. There is no mould. The windows get a lots of condensation as they are single pane. The heater in the room I was it is old but effective.
I would happily stay there again.
L.Love this place. I first started staying at Alexis in 2015 when I had prolonged stays in Dunedin over a number of months. And then early this year when I was in town for 5 weeks. It's now our preferred accommodation whenever we come to Dunedin.
I've stayed in nearly all the units, they are immaculately maintained, clean and comfortable. The central locality is perfect for access to great eateries, the best shopping in town and of course the hospital and University. The real attraction to Alexis though are Robyn and John. They make our stays memorable, are friendly and accommodating and, as a result, we just love going back.
B.Lovely compact setting for a motel. Parking is minimal but being on a hill and Central this is to be expected. Lovely welcoming and accomodating staff. Great rooms that are well furnished and serviced. Being a student city it was a little louder over the weekend but earplugs were provided but not needed! Would definitely stay again.

A.I have stayed here a few times, because although the motel is within walking distance for most local events, it's also handy for the hospitals, for which you get a discounted rate if you have appointments. The rooms are well maintained, and cleaned to a high standard with everything you need for your stay. Mine hosts were very helpful in recomending places to eat and walking routes to different locations.
R.I visit Dunedin reasonably regularly and over the years have stayed at a number of places but this is my first choice. It may not be the fanciest but it makes up for that in other ways. Always spotlessly clean and comfortable and perfect location for the university and hospital. Excellent places to eat nearby and close to the good shops of the north end of George street and walking distance to the Botanical Gardens. Easy parking if needed.

H.Alexis Motor Lodge is right at one end of the "happening" end of George Street, just where the shop start. They do not appear to have as many carparks as units, but they ask you if you will be bringing a car so they can manage them. As I was in the paraplegic unit and there were no guests in wheelchairs staying at the same time as me, they let me park here. This was awesome as it was right outside my unit. The unit was clean and spacious. I sometimes get anxious in paraplegic showers but this had a non-slip floor and a convenient rail I could hold onto. Definitely a good place to stay.
T.A lovely motel in an awesome location at the end of the Main Street. Slightly off the road so nice and quiet. Well equiped unit perfect for a family stay. Will definitely stay here again. 😊
R.Late check in was no problem for Robyn. Room was large and a very comfortable bed. Locality is great and plenty of great food places within walking distance. Make sure your car has a good handbrake as the driveway is steep, its not a problem unless you are scared of step hills (LOL)

S.We stayed in some very spacious family rooms - I assume these are bigger than other rooms. There was a large spa bath, TV, DVD player, stove top, and microwave as well as the other usual amenities. These were well appreciated. It is worth noting that most of the motel is built on a hill, I'm not sure if there are lower rooms or lifts.
The staff were lovely and Robyn took my bag up the hill to my room because I was on the phone, even though I didn't ask! There is maps available and a restaurant across the street if the kitchen isn't enough. The motel is quite centrally located. Would definitely recommend.

Having great cafes/restaurants just across the road was such a plus for me. The new feature this time was Netflix, so a night in with takeaways and a movie was fun too!

The only thing my children were disappointed about is the internet connection is very slow meaning they couldn't watch Netflix however it did have Sky for them!

M.I stayed in a spa suite for 3 nights, it was clean and tidy and serviced daily. Spacious room and bathroom excellent spa bath that I used every night. Plenty of room in the kitchen. They have sky TV for your viewing pleasure. The hostess Robyn is a very warm and welcoming woman she made sure if you needed anything she would try and accommodate if she could I will not be looking for another motel in Dunedin as I have found what I consider the best my family and I will be using this motel for all our stays in Dunedin.

Afterwards she showed us to our room, she was more than inclined to take my partners suitcase. The motel is situated on a steep-ish hill, so this was an extra nice gesture. Our room was spacious, as the pictures show, and she guided us around. The room had a basic kitchen with all the fundamentals, kettle, microwave, stove, toaster, can opener, peeler etc.
As shown in the pictures we also had a hot tub, this was a really nice way to relax in the evening after a long day.
There were three beds in our room, fitted with heated blankets. There were also two TVs, one in the main room and one in the living room below a stereo system.
Overall the stay was the best we've had on our trip and was a higher quality than what most motels offer. Highly recommend staying here
A.Good value in a great location. The motel is only a short walk from the heart of Dunedin. Staff/owner lovely at check in and gave us heaps of info about places to visit, restaurants and getting around. Rooms are a bit dated, especially bathroom, but wifi is good. Would recommend.

You cannot be better situated; George St. which is the hustle and bustle of Dunedins' shopping, restaurants and site seeing. The location is fabulous, 3 minute walk to the University where we visit our daughter. 8 minute walk to the stadium, close to town, and bars and restaurants. My unit was booked for as long as I needs and could be cancelled at any time. Easy to find. Close to eating and drinking places. Away from road noise.

C.I stayed at Alexis for 10 nights while attending a course at the university, The room was warm, cozy and very clean and tidy, Cooking facilities were good for making breakfast and simple meals and the internet access was fast and free. The location is right in the centre of Dunedin with shops, restaurants and the university within minutes on foot. Staff at Alexis were welcoming and friendly. J.I was travelling at Queenstown and my friend had a medical emergency. Was transferred to Dunedin Public Hospital at midnight and I couldn't stay there. I urgently needed an accommodation at 1am and found Alexis Motor Lodge. Called the host, Robyn and she responded quickly. Robyn got a room ready immediately and helped me to settle down - wouldn't have known what to do without her. The room is large, clean and warm with very comfortable bed. Will definitely recommend this place.

D.Everything about the beautiful studio apartment we stayed in gets 5*'s from me - it was large and spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, the WiFi worked great, there was everything we needed in the kitchen and the owners were lovely and friendly - it felt like a home from home and I would have no hesitation in booking again. It's also a 3 minute walk to the hospital and there are plenty of cafés, shops and bars nearby.
C.We visited Dunedin in late March and found Alexis Motor lodge to be a great value and nice place to stay. The hosts are very friendly, accomodating, and helpful to make the most out of our visit and point out the cities highlights and good food. While visiting DO NOT miss the incredible train station (a short walk away) or the fantastic restaraunt across the street. It is in the University district so there are many good places to eat and the streets are safe with many people out and about. The pennsula is also close by and offers opportunities to view the local albatross and penguin colonies.
R.Stayed here end of August 2018 for a conference in the very close University. Large warm room, whirrpool bath and kitchenette all you could want. Staff very friendly (especially as I messed-up the checkout time) and great at keeping in contact, during the booking process. Warmly recommended.

A.I've been at Alexis multiple times for business , only one night each and rooms are comfortable, summer or winter , free WiFi, parking at the room door, some rooms have a relaxing spa tub . That is what other motor lodges too .. But the friendly staff and close by shops and diners.. And cafés for the morning.. Makes the Alex is my go to place when I'm in Dunedin.

K.My husband and I were booked in for 3 nights while I had surgery.This was cancelled although we stayed 1 of those nights.When we contacted Courtnie re our change of circumstance she was so lovely about us having to cancel 2 nights.
On arrival we were treated by Courtnie who was so helpful to me on crutches.
We will be back in a few weeks when surgery is reorganised.
The units are always well maintained and clean,and in a very handy location for hospital appts,cafes and shopping.
T.I won’t stay anywhere else. This motel is always warm, perfectly located, and the welcoming committee of Robyn, chief (Black Labrador) and rocky (golden Labrador) is awesome. The introduction of more entertainment options is great. Highly recommend you give it a go.
