Stayed here for 6 months or so Friendly staff and place Highly recommend it Only problem is that its on an uphill area so be careful of your luggage when stepping out of a shuttle or taxi

Really nice place to stay when you visit Dunedin. The staffs are very friendly and the rooms are very nice. The best part I liked their was the TV lounge and the area to play musical instruments like guitar, violin, piano, drums....etc. The Bathrooms and toilets are clean and it they are cleaned frequently. The kitchen is also very nice and we can make our on food and the kitchen also have provisions to store our groceries if we are staying for more than one day. The kitchen is also cleaned every day. All the common areas are also cleaned every day. There is also a dining area where we can have food with others from various places and it is really a good place to make some new friends.

Good Atmosphere and the Manager Chris is Lovely to deal with, feel Safer here than other Backpackers around Dunedins Hill Area

Great stay, friendly staff, the facilities kept extremely clean. Only offsets I found were that the walls were paper thing, making it so you can hear every creak and whisper. But everyone seemed to be respectful/cautious with the loudness. Close to the city centre as well which was a plus.

I can say this is best hostel in Dunedin for this price. Friendly staff, very tidy and clean. Fast wifi and good hot shower. Even have piano and guitar! Really love the tv room. Highly recommended!

I spent 38 nights here. That should tell you everything you need to know. It's a good and affordable place to stay. It does not appear all too modern, but it's kind of charming. It's not too clean, but it's alright. The upstairs bathroom is.. interesting. It is cleaned every day, though many, many guests do not bother to keep it so. There's a washing machine that guests can use, which is great. The kitchen looks good, though I didn't use it. If you're lucky, you get quiet neighbours, since you can hear rather a lot of what's going on in the house. Before I forget, staff is friendly and helpful!

Chalet is overall a good bang for your buck. With that being said, the price is cheap which compensates for the negatives. It gets very loud in the hallways at night and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. The throw rug in our room-17 should be thrown away because there was so much hair on it.... it was useless. The employees were the nicest people we have come across during our trip which was a huge plus. Chris was extremely kind and helpful and loaded with information. The showers were nice and clean. The hostel is an old hospital so there is lot of character in the building. If it wasnt for the noise I would stay here again but it got too loud to sleep peacefully.

Exactly what I needed for a very brief one night stay.. nothing more nothing less.. cheaper than a motel and better (personally) than a dorm room. Clean, tidy, good view from my allocated room.. recommend

Nice and cute England style building. The facilities are tidy. The environment is cozy. The staff is helpful and friendly. However, there is no warm water in sink (only cold and super hot) and no hairdryer as well. The price is still worthy!

amazing hostel! friendly staff, clean kitchen and toilets. they have a nice cozy tv room, outdoor space with weird but cool ladders to go up the roof. it looks really funky and cpzy from the inside with different carpets and lots of pictures, posters and lots of little lights. almost all windows overlook the bay, too, making my stay even more special. I was in dunedin couple times but had the best feeling in this hostel. would definitely book again!!

Great place to stay ! Very convenient to everything. Staff are great and generous amounts of showers and a kooky feel to the place . My only thing is if you stay on the top floor the kitchen can become a little bit of a party zone and not such a bad thing but be aware . Thank you Annette for being a great host had a great time .😊

This location is very pretty and quite comfortable have a kind receptionists and nice people. Have a beautifully bunny 🐇 only 2 fridge, is clean and there are fresh farmers eggs (50cc each) and a fantastic living room in the 1st floor.

Super cozy colourful hostel, very clean, really nice rooms with comfortable beds, kitchen well equipped and 2 living rooms with pool table. Thanks to the nice staff welcoming me in the hostel! Would always come back!

Great and cozy place. The staff is amazing, we were four guys who arrive without any booking and it's was kind of full. But she manager manged to get us bed. It's nice place with enough shower and 10 minutes from town center.

Nice and quiet backpackers. The staff is really helpfull, the place is clean, the kitchen wel equipped, the price is low, the location is close to the city centre. The only thing dat I didn't liked was that the toilet doors open inwards....

Not bad spot and close to amenities. The water runs hot in the shower @ 10am for us late risers which is great for a backpackers. The carparking is abit limited with about 5 or 6 places next to the backpackers, elsewise you can park near maitland street.

one of my favoruite hostels that i stayed out during my short NZ holiday. nice kitcken, nice staff, comfy beds, great places to lounge and good wifi. If you like a quite hostel, this is a good one.

It was okay. Cheap. Was on the third floor. Kitchen locks during the night, and unlocks late in the morning. Swift early breakfast before departure is not an option

Open and spacious rooms, old comfy feel, beautiful views, but a long walk up a very steep hill to get there from the city.

Hostel where you feel like at home, super kitch but all what’s necessary is there. Well organised, quite clean, nice vibe. I definitely recommend it.
