B. H.Very homey and welcoming atmosphere. Dining here felt like going to an old friend’s place for a meal. Waiter was passionate and provided honest meal recommendations. We had an excellent marinated beef salad (chef’s special) with ground vegetables salad. Would definitely recommend to drop in and enjoy! - Especially the sticky date pudding ;)
n. s.It's a typical country pub. A bit rough at the edges but they serve a few excellent beers from the Dark Horse brewery which is on site. Worth a visit.

Food was delicious, flavorsome and very filling. Staff were friendly, welcoming and super efficient. Pat has excellent service skills. We enjoyed tasting all beers in the tap room which was our favourite part of our stay.
The owners are super lovely and really made us feel at home.
We had a great fun night and a restful sleep here and loved having continental breakfast included in our room price. We will absolutely be back. We recommend for all.

A. F.I came here for dinner when I stayed at Lauder for a night during the Otago Rail Trail. The building is old and beautiful and the typical pub setting is classic New Zealand. The owner was great, very friendly. The customer service re: dining could be improved. We didn’t feel very welcomed. The Garlic Bread was amazing but the vegetarian lasagne needs some work. Overall not a bad experience but not the best either. Wouldn’t be opposed to returning as I really enjoy small town pubs and chatting to the locals.

C. M.Had a really great meal here. I had the burger, my partner had the risotto balls and they were very happy to do an off the menu burger for my young daughter. All our meals were very tasty and the waiter was exceptionally professional. Can thoroughly recommend it. You do need to make a booking even though it's in the country

T. M.We stopped here along the Otago Central Railway Trail and it was such a fantastic surprise. The food is amazing (smoked bbq brisket was perfect!), they’re developing a brewery, and it has such a good vibe - it would be an amazing place to come up for a weekend with friends. They’re upgrading while also keeping the history of the place - exactly what you’d hope for from a Central Otago hotel. Good things happening in Omakau!

J. W.Great place for a decent, hearty pub meal! We had ribs, freshly battered blue cod and the vege lasagna. All tasted delicious - ribs were melt off the bone, blue cod was in a light & crispy batter, lasagna was packed with flavour. Lovely & attentive staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if in Omakau😊

H.Had a meal here on Wednesday night after a day riding in the rain, hail and wind on the Central Otago Rail Trail. The staff were fabulous and the supper was one of the culinary highlights of the trip. They were only too happy to accommodate Gluten Free eating requirements which was a bonus. You could tell a lot of effort was made to make sure we had a great experience and we did. Thanks guys!
V.Excellent rail trail pub with good value quality accommodation and meals. Rooms are well appointed with lots of historic touches and information throughout the hotel. Bicycle storage area in the historic buildings out the back. Nice beer garden.
J. W.We stopped at the Omakau Commercial Hotel as we had planned to catch up with some friends for a quick drink. While the customer service was friendly, we did have a bit of a wait until we were served.
It was a typical kiwi bar and it was relaxing to sit down for a drink and catch up with friends.

a. l.Wow what a cosy friendly hotel,Stu and I had packed up our work gear at the blossom festival and arrived in Omakau tired hungry and dehidrated.
Mike the proprietor was closing the kitchen but two more meals were delivered and man I thought we were at the Ritz .
Stacy and Mike joined us for a yak at the end of their shift ,just the most hospitable couple you could ever wish to meet,warmth cosy comfortable.
