Excellent managed isolation hotel. Extremely safe and secure. Very supportive and friendly staff members (soldiers and police, nurses and doctors, and other hotel staff and security). Rooms are incredibly clean. The rooms include: very comfy beds, a bathroom that has a pleasant temperature for showering (hot and cold), a large TV to watch local channels, super fast Internet, great window views, and extra products to make your stay better. However, if something is missing, the reception is always there to give a hand. I thank everyone who takes the time to make the stay of others safe and enjoyable ❤️

We spent 14 days here for managed isolation and it was such a positive experience. The staff were very friendly and always worried about our mental and physical wellbeing. We had a very large room with opening windows and multiple beds which allowed us to be comfortable. The room also had a large high definition TV, useful for all the daytime TV we consumed to pass the time. The food also exceeded our expections by far (although sometimes it was a bit cold) and there was a large variety of menu items and snacks. The best part of our stay were the daily walks around the large carpark. Thank you very much for looking after us :)

Good morning everyone in New Zealand and Australia, my husband, brother and self have had the absolute pleasure of (get this ) Covi-19 quarantining yep isolating for 14 days at the beautiful Distinction Hotel. We loved our stay, it felt so like home away from home, there's nothing like waking up to hot coffee in the morning made at your leisure. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and I wouldn’t book anywhere else compared to my travels within Australia and the hotel’s and motels I stayed. The Distinction Hamilton are above the rest. Their staff, very kind and professional, meals outstanding which made what could have been a very trying and difficult stay for many so comfortable and happy. Your Front Desk staff is so very courteous and accommodating a very happy experience which is most important in the hotel environment. We are very happy with Distinction Hotels kind and happy experience of service and will definately recommend them to all and anyone who wishes comfort and exceptional service. Thank you Distinction we look forward to our next stay. Keep up the good work.

I was here for quarantine on arrival back into NZ. Given the extra requirements and pressures put on the staff they remained polite and friendly throughout my stay. The room was very tidy and fairly modern and although the food provided was obviously mass made in a military mess style, it was still very tasty, varied and nutritious. I would definitely like to stay here during better times.

Great place to do quarantine. Low rise so no need to share lifts or touch anything anyone else has. Huge carpark for exercise, running, walking. Big rooms with opening windows. Individual air conditioning (not shared). Big comfortable beds and armchairs. Big TV. Very good internet. Food was very generous, but not fancy. The nurses, hotel staff, security and army all made a real effort to be friendly. As good as 14 days stuck in a hotel on your own could possibly be really. Pro tip: you can order groceries (extra fruit, eggs to boil in the kettle etc.) from Countdown and anything you might have forgotten (sunhat, exercise gear) from the Warehouse at low cost.

My husband and I are currently in quarantine isolation with 10 days to go. I am deeply grateful to be staying here in this large room with the most comfortable bed. All staff are pleasant and helpful making it a positive experience. The menu offers a wide choice and meals so far have be plentiful and tasty. I appreciate the logistics receiving hot ..hot meals, however we are fortunate to enjoy the choice variety Love the grilled salmon on sweet potato rosti. That was better than a restaurant meal. With the stunning weather, our two or three walks a day are energising and good for the soul. Have to say this is a chance to rest and relax. THANKYOU.

Mixed review on this one. The hotel is worn and dated in places, particularly the communal areas but the renovated superior rooms were lovely. The bathrooms were tired, water pressure average, and there were a few small things that were annoying like providing three towels for four people. Having said that we found it suited our needs as we were travelling as a family, two adults with two kids. The rooms were a generous size and had all the amenities we required. Also the buffet breakfast was outstanding. The kids couldn't believe their luck.

As a MIQ isolation facility it's 5 star. This is my third facility and its better than Naumi and Grand Mecure. Room sizes are good and newly updated. The internal facilities are not useable for us, from what I have seen though they look tired. I upturned one of the queen beds to the wall to gain some floor space. Aircon. Opening windows; small. Bed is good, pillows spot on. Outdoor carpark for exercise, including running! It's 220m. WiFi extender out at the carpark would be a good thing though. Food is better here than the other hotels above and they've catered well for keto if you ask. An upside here is cutlery and plates that you clean yourself. Naumi was like this, Grand Mecure must have harvested a bamboo forest for all the once use cutlery!

Amazing stay. Great newly refurbished rooms. Service was absolutely amazing, always there to help. Great breakfast spread, everything you could possibly need. Have to say the coffee made by Georgia was amazing. Dinner was amazing, really quick service and delicious. (Loved the smoked eel salad)

WOW this facility is huge, a massive selection of treats from the breakfast buffet. A substantial dinning room and lots of lovely grouped seated areas. The bathrooms are spotless (great sign of their high standards). And a friendly team of cleaners and restaurant staff. I'd def. recommend to large groups of travelers.

Here for a conference. The conference facilities were good as was the conference dinner. The room and beds were comfortable and clean, but the bathrooms really need to be updated as there are cracked tiles and mould. Staff was friendly. The spa pool and pool area was filthy, the pool was really cold and clean (it was recently refilled?), the spa pools were nice but not very clean. Conclusion: comfortable enough, but not 4 star standard, I would not come back as I do not consider the facilities enough value for the price.

Distinction has many of the same features as other hotels in its price range however it was obvious they had spent some money on it because there were some little things that made a point of difference in the twin bed room (#524) we were provided. The beds and carpets appeared to have had only a little bit of use to the extent the carpet was rubbing on the bottom of the door and the TV was not a poky small one like many other hotels we've sampled, better still it was a name brand with good picture and sound quality, and the menu off the remote was very simple. The Wireless was quite acceptable reaching a download speed of 18 megabits per second whereas other similar sized hotels we've stayed at could barely manage 4. Road noise was next to none in our room, however I'm sure the lower numbered rooms closer to the road front would have some. One annoyance in our room was the bathroom fan had a loud rumble on first startup which softened a little, but remained noisy when operating, which was a nuisance as it was connected with the light switch. We only had Breakfast at the restaurant, so can not comment on other meals, however their menu looks quite yummy and all common tastes we're catered for. The staff were excellent and we had the option of a very late check-out. Early bird parking is a must because when the hotel is full, if it's raining and you're in a lower numbered room, you're sure to get wet moving from your park to the buildings. All accommodation units are interconnected, so in heavy rain, it's possible to off-load your luggage in the covered entryway and make your way to your room through the corridors.

Nice and quiet. Enjoyed the buffer breakfast. We were able to do our daily gym which we do at our home and this Hotel has got a wonderful gym which we enjoy. Staff were great. Indoor pool was perfect. Plenty of parking. Location is simply the best for swimming events/meets.

Plenty of things close by to do. Breakfast was great. The wifi speed in the room is good. The room is maintained very clean throughout our stay. There are a lot of famous restaurants nearby. The amenities of the hotel were beyond expectations. The staff at the Kingsgate were absolutely fantastic.

My stay here was due to COVID19 ...14 DAYS QUARANTINE ..I flew from Brisbane airnz....we arrived by bus at Te Rapa Distinction Hotel ..firstly ..we were .greeted by whanau of the armed forces. ...explained protocol of DOES AND DON'TS during our stay....then introduced to another whanau person who explained about the culture side of Te Rapa and the whanau then he said "Karakia "prayer of welcome ...blessings involving all whanau present....then shown the way in for checkin COVID19 TESTING and questions. .by 7pm we had each collected our luggage and room keys from reception then directed to our rooms...approximately 15mins later dinner was delivered which I thoroughly enjoyed. ..rest of night settled ...Dailey testing is done ..contact is made over phone or visit to your room door. ..ALL IN ALL, Armed services, Security, Health nursing staff ....are tops 100% they did/do everything to keep us all safe warm and comfortable as possibly could considering the situation. ..ACCOMMODATION AND KAI 100% there shouldn't be complaints as all rooms were supplied with the same menu to select our meals for the first 6days....OUR CHOICES!!!!! There has been nothing but plentiful AROHA shared..information /updates for each day ..... KAI APLENTY. ...accommodation 100% toiletries supply was/is ample. . ...KIA KAHA "DISTINCTION Hamilton Hotel" and to all the WHANAU for sharing and truly caring. .I would love to book a room on my next visit. . I would recommend this hotel to all my friends. . 10/10 - 100%

Poor room service. Not cleaned to the standard I expected from this brand. Breakfast poor standard, temperature varied day to day. Lack of general staff to accommodate customers, restaurant and bar. Bar prices varied day to day on the same product????.I have stayed at Distinction hotels before, this was far from the standard expected.

Good clean hotel. Good sized room but the bathroom was somewhat dated. Large bar with a good range of spirits and beers next to the restaurant and Reception. The local IPA was very good. Really good breakfast !

The location was perfect for us. Plenty of room. We ended up using the washing machine at the hotel then going to laundromat up the road to dry our washing because it was cheaper. Every single person we encountered was friendly and extra helpful. There was not enough staff on to complete the cleaning.

Bathroom floor was disgusting, yellow stains and the shower pressure was poor. We had a double room with queen in one room and 3 singles in the other. The booking was for two adults to have a room each so the room wasn't appropriate. Would suit a family I suppose but the main customer for this place is business people. Just sort of average.

Plenty of room in the gym for lots more equipment which it really needs. Little bit tired-looking but what do you expect from an older style hotel offering good value for money. We had an enjoyable night and breakfast the next morning. Being within range to use courtesy vehicles from our venue.

Being one of the quarantine hotels this place made my stay an absolute breeze. The food was amazing! And the hospitality made the welcome home so much warmer. Thank you so so much 🙏

We were lucky that the night we stayed they were having a conference which ment there was buffet. Would highly recommend dinning in the restaurant if this option is available Huge selection Friendly, informative staff. Easy parking even in the rain Shops walking distance if you find you need anything. Breakfast buffet is a must There is literally options for all dietary needs and we were asked if wanted poached eggs as well which were cooked perfectly Large selection of cereals, breads,smoothies, fresh juices,as well as hot coffee made to order 10/10 for breakfast Highly recommend for children as well and there is a gym on site to burn it off lol

It's a pretty good hotel. Newly reburnished rooms are nice but the bathroom is a little dated still. New carpet is nice. A bit far from the centre of town but the starcity casino bus can take you in Tuesday to Saturday I think (in the evenings) check the exact times with the front desk.

Convenient location away from city centre for people with cars travelling outside Hamilton. Our room was the best that I have had in the last seven years that I have used the hotel. The staff were very friendly and were very accommodating. Great value for money. Very friendly and accomodating.

Jaime from the front counter has been absolutely brilliant - on late Friday evening she got me a room with a bath (that I was dreaming of) and the guys in the kitchen have been soo helpful! Being vegan is a constant struggle as soon as you away from Auckland but they transformed the boring sandwich into smth really nice and delicious and I am super grateful. Newly refurbished room (nice thick carpet, comfortable bed and pillows, nice decor); however the bathroom had pink mould in the grout and on the shower curtains and appeared more tired than the living space.

This place really needs a make over and soon, the work being done at the moment is not even close to what needs to be done. You can hear water dripping at night, the fridge makes noise, the air condition is prehistoric and if you have some one in another unit that snores! They may as well be in your room! The toilets dont flush, mould is visible all around the bathroom. The sealings (has that been tested for aspbestos? Its very old) The best thing about this place was the staff and dinner! If it wasn't for that then you would and should be entitled to get a refund and star rating below 2. I dont think im being harsh.

I had some things to do in the area so I stayed here. We were recommended by our friends who regularly stay at the Kingsgate. The hotel's location is very convenient as you can walk almost anywhere. Rooms in the hotel are very clean. Prices in the area are very low by western standards.

Common place for conferences in Hamilton, have not stayed overnight here. Conference utilities seems adequate. Put this in your 'make do' category. A little unfortunate the restaurant on site isn't operational during lunch hours.

The service in the restaurant on Saturday night was appalling. The grout of the tiles in the shower had mould on it and the paint is starting to peel on the bathroom ceiling. The hotel is located next to a mall for shopping. A good price through this web site.

Location was perfect for attending sporting event at the Hamilton Waterworld. I felt that was very careless as the towels were wet and clearly used so why on earth were they given back to me in a plastic bag with the condiment bag beneath the towels. A long walk to the town-really essential to have a vehicle here.
