I have met such wonderful people from all over the world and shared awesome experiences with. John the manager is so kind and caring, I love the hostel cats ❤.
Set in such a tranquil setting, I highly recommend traveller's come stay here, such a beautiful place.

L. Y.Fantastic place for a backpacker. It is not perfect but good enough for the price. John is nice and helpful. He got me a job the day after I arrived. Clean toilet and bathroom. The room is not that clean but acceptable. Forgot one thing, John even organised a Christmas party!

The facilities are clean, the people friendly and the grounds are quiet with fruit trees in abundance!
Staying here is great for those who like a chilled out and friendly atmosphere.

P. K.Spent 5 weeks there and was a very pleasant stay. Place has very positive vibe and feel more like a big campground with travellers from all over the world than classic hostel. Met great people here and made good memories. John, the owner, was always willing to help and provide advice, regardless time of the day. Always had variety of jobs to provide, found me one just few days after my arrival. If you are looking for something more than just accommodation this is the place you wanna stay.
E. K.Was here for 2 months and had a really pleasant stay throughout. Met really amazing people, had a lovely cabin that was right in front of a toilet & bathroom trailer (made it really convenient). John was really friendly and helpful in making sure all of us had work, was never left without work at any time. Gave really useful tips for the area, and was always there to provide help when needed. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are cleaned everyday and had all the equipments we needed. Free laundry facilities and plenty of clothesline all around the hostel to hang and dry our clothes. Would really recommend for backpackers who are looking for work in Hastings! Happy Happy Joy Joy!
l. k.Nice place and nice people. Stayed 5 weeks in a dorm which was really good. John got me a job in the 1st week of my stay. Sadly no good wifi (only around 2GB per week) and the kitchen isnt the best. Also most of the time there is no free space in the fridge.
A. D.I’m writing this review a bit late but I really wanted to give a 5 stars review on this one. I honestly think that this is one or THE best hostel you could find in all NZ. If you need a job, the owner, John, will find something for you right away, and you gonna be able to work the next day. The place is just amazing with just heeps of space for everything, from the campervans to all the living rooms, kitchens and sofas, chilling places. It’s perfectly cleaned everyday and I thank John again for this unforgettable yime I had there. I could meet many nice people then and I would (and did) recommend this place to anybody in NZ

N. V.Great backpackers which also helps you find seasonal work. Friendly and helpful staff. Really enjoyed our stay here. Good people and lots of green space with trees and fresh fruit. Lots of showers and kitchens which is important when you are working.
Winter is here now so we leave NZ but we will miss our home at Eco Lodge.
B. A.I've spent the half of my journey at Eco Lodge and I loved it!!! John and all of the Eco Lodge gave me a feeling of a home in New Zealand. Stayed in a little cabine, so me and my friend were able to enjoy the privacy after a long day at work. Our working places was organized by John - uncomplicated fast. Clean toilets and kitchen. H.we stayed here 2 weeks in total for seasonal work (fruit picking) in the area. i can really recommend this hostel if youre looking to stay for some days in Hastings! its an amazing property in the city with green all around some fruit trees, if youre lucky you can pick some fresh fruits aswell :) the rooms were pretty standard had some dirty corners, showers are hot, kitchen and common rooms are cleaned every day and well equipped (soccer table, tv's etc...), wifi is available to buy, but reliable and fast if you need it. probably you wont use it anyway, there are a lot of fun and interesting people there from everywhere to talk to. john, the host, is awesome and really does an effort to help you with any problem you might have, gives you tons of numbers and hints if youre looking for a job in the area.

The top10 wanted $35 for just a tent site, whereas here I got $30 for a 2-person room, free laundry (dryer costs $1/10 min), 200mb wifi, etc. Room was fine, bathroom acceptable but I found the common areas and kitchen quite undesirable. Lots of longer-term people and field workers, expected the area to be taken care of better.
h. r.Great little hostel. Only stayed for one night. Lockers for free in the rooms!! The guy at the front desk was a little much to deal with when we were checking in but they let us pick fruit from the trees when we were leaving.

Die Eco Lodge war das beste Hostel in dem ich je war. Es ist draußen in der Natur und man hat die Möglichkeit in Zelt, Auto, Schlafsaal oder Cabin zu schlafen. Es eignet sich besonders wenn man länger irgendwo bleiben möchte. Ich habe in der Eco Lodge einen sehr großen Teil meiner Reise verbracht und die Menschen kennen gelernt, die für immer Freunde bleiben werden.
