D. Y.What a lovely hostel. Situated in a quiet street within walking distance of Queens Park and also the city centre.
Our host Magdalena was delightful and made us very welcome. Our room was comfortable and very clean and warm.
The kitchen was very clean and even had a dish washer. This is almost unique in hostels.
The lounge and dining room were comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our game of monopoly with the other guests and Magda.

M. H.Incredibly cute hostel in range of shops. Comfortable beds (with a lack of plugs in the rooms however, there were around 4 in total), great kitchen (free tea, oven, fridge). Very high walls (see photos, Banana for scale) giving it a Victorian esque flair, we found it comforting

M. S.Beautiful hostel in a historic building in a quiet part of town. Easy walking to shops and i-site and close to several beautiful parks. The hosts are so sweet and the building is gorgeous and had a lovely private lawn and back patio area. Rooms are clean and cozy. Kitchen is light and easy to use and has a dishwasher!
L. G.The place is in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown. It's a really cozy place with spacious kitchen, lounge, bathrooms and bedrooms. It feels good after many nights in cramped backpackers hostels.
On top of that the hosts are sweet and accommodating, I really couldn't ask more from this place!

The hostel is ideally situated, super close to the Queen's park and just a 15minute stroll to the city centre. The kitchen is clean, neat and with all the tools you would want. The lounge is like stepping into your English auntie's living room. The beds are comfortable and don't squeek or move along when you do. Plenty bathrooms for everyone.
The entire hostel is styled as a home and that's how it feels.
A slice of home/heaven amongst dirty and minimal hostels.
Come here to settle down after a long trip or just if you're passing through. But don't come here to get smashed.

The place itself is a large very vintage house beautifully kept, inside and out including garden. Only modcons where needed, otherwise kept in character.
M.Great hostel with spacious rooms and comfy beds. The dorms are not exceeding 5 people and the beds are solid. You have enough room to store your luggage and the dorm / share room had even a heater. Most rooms look into garden areas which are quiet and good to use and hang out.
The young lady working here was friendly and very welcoming. People are easy going and quiet here in this hostel. The kitchen and living room gives a feeling like home so it is great to stay here for a while if you are tired of traveling.
Only downside of the location is the very weak, but free, unstable WiFi as well as the low flying planes (probably from Steward Island) flying over the hostel once every one or two hours during daylight.
Would definitely go here again. Paid 27NZD per night in a four bed share with BBH membership.
M. J.Good hostel, with super nice staff and cosy rooms! Stayed in a 5 bed dorm with its own bathroom! Super cool! The staff helps you with everything and you feel like you are at home. Even the kitchen and living room is very comfy. Little small, but that doesn't matter! If Ou want to stay in Invercargill, please go there! It's one of the best histels I have ever been!

M. L.Southern Comfort is one of the best hostels that I've ever stayed at! It feels just like home. They offer Free WIFI which is pretty fast as well. The kitchen and bathrooms are very clean and there's even a dishwasher! It's extremely close to the I-Site, Bus Stop, Museum, and beautiful Queens Park. Willy and his team do a fantastic job and I highly recommend checking it out.

Very clean and tidy throughout
Host 'Brenda' made you feel welcome and was very helpful, so much so, I stayed 2 nights.
Has a good 'CHI' feeling to the property.
I liked the idea, that it was in a 'city suburb', tree lined neighbourhood but close enough to walk to town (a few minutes) and the park was literally down the street.
Sit on the veranda, chill and watch the 'Tui's' visit.
Would recommend 'Southern Comfort' to anyone.
K. L.Great Hostel in invetcargill ! I only stayed one night but I felt like at home, great kitcken, great lounge area with sofas, the host Brenda was really really nice, and even though the hostel was full, it wasn't too crowded at all. Great wifi as well.

A. P.Easily the best hostel in new Zealand. A beautiful victorian house that feels more like you are a guest in someone's (very nice) home. Great facilities, extremely clean and the owners are lovely.

T. C.Nicest hostel I've ever stayed in. Lovely owners. Took us in with an extremely late booking after the Tuatara lodge messed up our booking. After we ended up sleeping rough for a night as we were locked out of the Tuatara lodge, we called this hostel up and they even suggested we come over early for showers/tea etc. which was nice of them!

S. D.Lovely place, located a block away from Queen's Park. Beautiful gardens and home styled location, feels like you're staying at someone's house. The hosts are kind, and you'll see them around the place. The kitchen was nice, but not very well stocked and the organization was confusing, it was hard to find things or figure out where to put things. The bathrooms were clean and there were a few, but not very strong water pressure, and they didn't get very hot.

On our first day of the hike we made it to Riverton and I found that I'd left my merino thermal longs at the hostel. The owner couriered them to me and I had them within the day. They bent over backwards to help me out! Take note Hosteling Canada, this is how you run a hostel.
