A.We stayed 3 nights in the 2-bedroom apartment - it is very clean and has pretty much all you need. Also extremely handy to get around, close to the beach, Jackson Street and still only a short trip into Wellington. House keeping staff is wonderful!!
Just a few minor issues we found - the sofa in the 2-bedroom apartment is not adequate for 4 people, if you all want to sit and watch TV and a little coffee table would be great. Also some hooks in the bathroom would be handy. I was disappointed that we paid a premium to stay during the first week in January, however all the shops and some restaurants on Jackson Street are closed until the second week of January. The proximity to Jackson Street is one of the big advantages of this Lodge.
But overall we would definitely stay again.
D.One of New Zealand's best motels, extremely well appointed rooms with comfy beds and more facilities in the room than most. Only issue is having to book well in advance due to popularity.
W.We stayed in this motor lodge regularly for quite a few years before retiring down to South Island, and we really miss the qualities of this accommodation. Particularly during the transfer my wife & I had to stay in quite a few motels on the route to Dunedin to settle, and I have to say none of them are up to the standards of Ava Lodge. A.Ava Lodge is my 'go too' motel when on business in Wgtn. The Team incliding the Housekeepers are responsive friendly and welcoming and always keen to get suggestions. The motel is kept in outstanding order and it is always a pleasure to stay here. I highly recommend the Ava Lodge Team they understand the real meaning of customer service. Thank you Ava Lodge. 👍
d.It was lovely and clean, had all we needed for our 3 night stay. Only one complaint was the tv wouldn't turn up at all, neither of us could hear it, I understand you don't want it so loud that it disturbs other guests, but not being able to hear it at all was very frustrating.
M.I've been staying here for work the past 6 years, 8 times a year, 3-4 days at a time. Alison and Jeff are the perfect hosts. For me it truly does feel like a home away from home, Rooms always immaculate. Perfect for business or personal trips, when you need a clean, warm, quiet, room with lots of space at the end of the day. Plenty of restaurants, cafes walking distance. Love staying here. Totally recommend staying here.

g.What a great place to stay. Our room was very clean, and the kitchenette was great with its own stove top and cooking equipment. There was plenty of storage and lots of seating which was handy as we had visitors during our stay and we were able to entertain them comfortably. I really liked the private courtyard right outside our room it was a nice area to wind down and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. All of the staff were welcoming and accommodating especially as we arrived for check in after 10pm. I highly recommend Ava Lodge.

C.We had to stay here for a night recently at late notice when our drains were blocked! It felt like a little bit of luxury with a nicely designed room that included a spa bath and generously sized shower in the bathroom. It was warm, clean and had everything we needed including a fully equipped kitchenette and a lovely dinning table with 4 chairs.
Some very minor niggles were; the switch for the spa bath wasn't obvious so we had to phone reception for directions, there were no hooks in the bathroom and no instructions about what to do with the key card if you check out outside of hours but, these are such small issues that they didn't detract from our stay. Thank you! We will be recommending it to family and friends that come to Wellington!
T.Have stayed one night with another to go. Very clean, good sized room. Well appointed - bed very comfortable, large TV with wall mounted USB and HDMI inputs (very easy to use), decent kitchenette, really nice bathroom, and the room has its own hear about pump. Even has a safe and an emergency grab bag in case of evacuation. Whoever put this place together clearly put some thought into it. Easy walking distance to nice eateries. Would definitely stay again.
M.Very handy to Jackson Street and Petone Esplanade, with the bus stop to Queensgate (Westfield) Mall directly opposite the Lodge. With modern architectural design in bright, block colours at the junction of Heretaunga and Cuba Streets, it is easy to locate. AL offers good, modern, hotel facilities and comforts such as one would expect for the pricing. And with two pizza joints and a bakery a stone's throw away, you won't go hungry!
O.Great place to stay. I’ve been a regular here for the last few years. The owners are friendly and welcoming and have always gone out of their way to meet my needs. The rooms are immaculate and comfy. Location is one of the biggest bonuses for me as Petone is where I grew up and where I have family and friends so its only a stones throw in any direction of where I need to go.
Highly recommended, and will def be back in the near future.

K.Had booked a 2 bedroom unit for my Father, Aunty and cousin, the owners phoned a few days prior to their arrival to ask about the configuration of guests and if it was possible to change to 2 units, this was no problem and they were only charged for the cost of the 2 bedroom unit a win win situation.
On arrival the hosts could not have been more helpful. The units were/are stunning, and immaculately clean.
My family come home so impressed with Ava Lodge and are recommending them to every one and wishing they could have stayed longer. Thank you

P.The Ava Lodge is fantastic. I am dubious about giving this place such a glowing reference in the fear that it will become so popular that it will become more difficult to get a reservation. Geoff and Alison are excellent hosts and I would be hesitant in staying anywhere else when working in Petone.

G.(Translated) In the Ava Lodge we had a very spacious and modern apartment. Everything looked clean and new. The bed was very comfortable. Overall, we felt comfortable in the apartment.
The owner couple was always very helpful. Minor issues were resolved very quickly. The laundry room with washer and dryer we could use for free.
The hotel's parking lot was already fully occupied on other days by other guests. But then we have easily found a parking space on the street directly at the hotel.
The Ava Lodge is located in a quiet side street. Just one block away, however, is the main street of Petone with numerous shops, restaurants and cafes.
The beach of Petone, just a few hundred meters away, is located directly on a busy main street, ie. Petone itself is not suitable for a beach holiday. However, Ava Lodge is a good and comfortable base from which to explore Wellington and the surrounding area. A few meters from the Ava Lodge there is a bus stop, from where you can drive directly to the center of Wellington without having to change trains.

In der Ava Lodge hatten wir ein sehr geräumiges und modern eingerichtetes Apartment. Alles wirkte sauber und neuwertig. Das Bett war sehr komfortabel. Insgesamt fühlten wir uns in dem Apartment rundum wohl.
Das Besitzerehepaar war stets sehr hilfreich. Kleinere Probleme wurden sehr schnell behoben. Den Waschraum mit Waschmaschine und Trockner konnten wir kostenlos benutzen.
Der hoteleigene Parkplatz war an einzelnen Tagen bereits durch andere Gäste vollständig belegt. Wir haben dann aber problemlos einen Parkplatz auf der Straße direkt am Hotel gefunden.
Die Ava Lodge liegt in einer ruhigen Nebenstraße. Nur einen Häuserblock weiter befindet sich jedoch die Hauptstraße von Petone mit zahlreichen Geschäften, Restaurants und Cafes.
Der wenige hundert Meter entfernte Strand von Petone befindet sich direkt an einer vielbefahrenen Hauptstraße, d.h. Petone selbst eignet sich nicht für einen Badeurlaub. Jedoch ist die Ava Lodge ein guter und komfortabler Ausgangspunkt, um Wellington und die Umgebung zu erkunden. Wenige Meter von der Ava Lodge entfernt ist eine Bushaltestelle, von der aus man ohne Umsteigen direkt bis ins Zentrum von Wellington fahren kann.
