The Bay Guesthouse is truly outstanding! It's in a stunning location and the story behind it is amazing. Built by the owners Armando, Marianne and their family, it's a haven of peace, beauty and fantastic company. We absolutely recommend a stay here - you are offered privacy or company (as you wish), stunning scenery, exceptional cuisine (Armando and family are highly accomplished chefs & patissiers) and top quality accommodation. Every detail has been thought of. We enjoyed a couple of amazing days with our hosts and we continue to keep in contact. It's a family business with a family feel and we would return in a heart beat. We cannot recommend Bay Guesthouse highly enough.

Wow! We spent 3 weeks travelling between New Zealand & Sydney with our 5.5-year-old daughter and stayed at over 15 different Guest Houses/Hotels and it's safe to say that by far our favourite was Bay Guesthouse which should not be overlooked by anyone visiting this part of the country. This is an exceptional hidden gem. For anyone wishing to spend time in & around Havelock North then you would be hard pushed to find anywhere like The Bay Guesthouse. I can't tell you the number of people who have been asking us about the pictures we took here as they are breathtaking. We were so lucky to spend our Christmas there, which was nothing short of magical & will treasure the memories. The Hosts: You will not find nicer & more accommodating hosts than Armando & Marianne! They were simply out of this world. They've put their heart & souls into delivering an amazing experience for anyone who chooses to stay with them. You can not help but to immediately fall in love with Armando & Marianne. They were like long lost friends who we straight away able to joke with & we felt an automatic connection. Just the kindest & most interesting people. Because we stayed with them over Christmas we were also fortunate enough to meet the whole family who is equally as great as their parents not to mention exceptionally talented chefs & table display designers ;-) The Guesthouse: You can not help but be blown away by the location & design of the guesthouse. I spent time talking to Armando & Marianne about how they designed & built the house themselves, which left me even more amazed. Without a shadow of a doubt, they should have been featured on Grand Designs. The views are simply spectacular from pretty much any room. Each bedroom was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities you could need & who wouldn't want to wake up to those kinds of ocean views. With the amazing location, it's only a short drive down to Waimarama Beach which is a truly beautiful beach to picnic on & explore. If you want to go a little further away then Ocean's beach isn't too far away which was also great. The Food: Because we stayed over Christmas we not only got to enjoy the daily breakfast - which is to die for, but we also got a first-class dinner prepared for us on Christmas Eve. To give context only 2 days earlier we had dined at the Craggy Range restaurant which was great, but honestly did not compare to the meal we had with Armando & Marianne which was exceptional, and I don't say that often. Thank you, Armando, Marianne, Sabrina & Fabian for welcoming us into your house the way that you did. Leaving your guesthouse was without a shadow of a doubt the worst thing & I hope we can return again one day. We were so fortunate to have found the Bay Guesthouse especially Armando & Marianne!

My wife and I have just had an amazing weekend stay at Bay Guesthouse. Unable to travel overseas we decided to explore New Zealand further, and what a gem we found. The setting was outstanding, as good as anything we have seen around the world, and the facilities complemented the amazing views. What made our stay most special was the hospitality shown to us by the hosts Marianne and Armando. They were welcoming, obliging and waited on us with no task too small or too big. The food they provided was nothing short of outstanding. We could not have asked for anything more than this and highly recommend a stay at Bay Guesthouse to everyone. We feel extremely lucky to have experienced this and cannot wait to go back. Thank you, Armando and Marianne.

As you turn away from the road and wend your way up to the stunning Bay Guesthouse you know you are heading to somewhere special. You climb up and up until you pass through the gates to be greeted by a spectacular vista, the Pacific Ocean stretching on forever in front of you, the Hawkes Bay coastline to each side and the beautiful hills behind. The location of this Luxury Lodge is hard to do justice with mere words. The lodge itself is another delight. An architectural study in light and space, with wrap-around decks, landscaped gardens and a thoughtfully designed water-feature separating the main building and the guest accommodation. The building maximizes the location with huge windows double glazed windows throughout, meaning you never forget how wonderful this setting is, whilst also maintaining a warm and quiet environment. The rooms are beautifully appointed to an exceptional standard, creating an indulgent yet comfortable and homely feel. The master bedroom treats you to a 5 star show every sunrise. The ever so inviting bathtub leaves you with only one hardship, do you watch a movie or just stare in to the fading light over the sea. Your hosts are the most welcoming, warm, lovely people you will ever meet. So kind and caring, you would not find better hospitality anywhere. The Bay Guesthouse is a place you will never forget but may look back on and wonder if it was a dream, too good to be true.

Wow! Fantastic house, 360 degree views to die for, great hosts, great company and conversation, and a great way to relax and unwind. Absolutely loved watching the sun rise. Spent four nights for our 25th wedding anniversary in this stunning location and what a way to celebrate. This has more than made up for our planned trip to California which didn’t materialise due to COVID. Armando and Marianne you have set the standard for every guest house throughout New Zealand. And to think that you both built this place literally from the ground up all by yourselves. The bride and groom invited their parents to share an evening with them at the Bay Guesthouse, where they were staying, for a post wedding celebratory dinner. A sublime experience awaited us, one we will treasure for may years to come. Armando & Marianne welcomed us on arrival for an afternoon & evening out of this world. Incredible beach and sea views with landscapes that went as far as the eye could see from different aspects of the beautifully designed guesthouse. The sea and the land are very cleverly drawn into the guesthouse in so many ways. Tranquility and privacy abounds in this amazing Bay Guesthouse, so much so that when you sit in the "Glasshouse" lounge it washes over you....a total relax lounge! Our hosts prepared and served us a 3 course meal by candlelight, that was worthy of the highest praise possible - a sublime dining experience! A "wow" atmosphere! Armando and Marianne are hosts extraordinaire! You are welcomed into their Guesthouse with warmth, you are cared and catered for to the highest level, a total sublime experience. We only wish it was the parents staying in the accommodation too! We're planning on a parent stay after this amazing taste of the Bay Guesthouse! It was an act of love from the bride and groom to invite their parents to join them for an evening and it was a privilege to enjoy Armando and Marianne's hospitality and exquisite Bay Guesthouse.

A cheerful and warm greeting from our hosts met us on arrival. Passing into their home through a spectacular dining area, sumptuous lounge and crossing the moat to our secluded private guest room, we were entranced. Nothing could go wrong and we felt we could indulge and luxuriate perfectly. Another treat awaited us from the cuisine, adapted with Jenn’s choices and exquisitely prepared. We ate, drank, slept and lounged contentedly and enjoyed wonderful conversation even though a wintery storm raged outside. Thank you. We left uplifted and relaxed. Your home was the canvas on which we painted our retreat.

From the moment we arrived at the Bay Guesthouse, we were treated as special guests by Marianne and Armando who are such lovely, welcoming, kind and talented hosts. The Captain’s House has all you need for a perfect romantic getaway. We enjoyed a luxury honeymoon package here after our wedding, and I’m certain you couldn’t find another experience like this anywhere else in New Zealand! Armando and Marianne have thought of everything, a fridge stocked with homemade treats like Crème Caramel, a dressing gown and towel warmer, romantic mood lighting in the Captain’s House, the list goes on. With uninterrupted ocean views, we watched the beautiful sunrise from bed each morning, relaxed in the spacious bath which has the best views of any bath we’d ever seen, and found it a wonderful place to celebrate our honeymoon as well as rest and recharge. Marianne and Armando generously shared their Swiss and Italian culture with us, and prepared amazing food. The whole experience made us feel like we were in Europe, but with a bonus of one of the best views in New Zealand and sunny, warm Hawke’s Bay weather to enjoy too. We enjoyed the amazing and DELICIOUS breakfast on the deck with uninterrupted ocean views, which was prepared with such skill and love, and celebrated on one of the evenings with a beautiful romantic candlelit dinner as well. We loved our stay at the Bay Guesthouse so much that we decided to extend it an extra day – lucky for us they had an available night. The thing we loved the most about our stay was that everything was done with such love and attention to make a stay at the Bay Guesthouse an experience you will never forget!

Bay Guesthouse is an incredible place with the most spectacular views in NZ and waking up with a breathtaking view like that makes it even more special. We were looking for luxury accommodation to celebrate a birthday and found this gem that was luxury but still great value for money. The service was excellent and the hosts warm and friendly - they made the stay extra special. They have different options for dining - informal in the comfort of your private guesthouse or a 3 course meal with wine pairings that was to die for. The hosts were great with the kids and have loads of entertainment and games available for kids, however it would be equally nice to go there alone as a couple for a romantic getaway as you have the whole house to yourself. We had the pleasure of staying with Armando & Marianne at The Bay Guesthouse recently (Easter long weekend 2021). Our visit exceeded all expectations and will be a weekend forever cherished. From the moment we arrived Armando & Marianne welcomed us with huge smiles and went the extra mile, helping to bring in luggage before showing us their home and all the amenities available to us. If you are looking for a weekend getaway with all the trimmings, then look no further – I promise you will be blown away by The Bay Guest House. Located only a short 20/30 minutes’ drive out of town perched on the hilltop, you will find exceptional views, nothing but the peaceful sound of the ocean below and top-quality food & company. For me, waking up early and seeing uninterrupted views of the amazing sunrise each morning was a real pinch me moment, it is worth setting the alarm for (thanks to the floor to ceiling windows you can enjoy from bed with a cup of tea!) The breakfast is also one for the memory book, everything is homemade and restaurant quality. You must try Armando’s Kaiserschmarr’n! They’re the most delicious, fluffiest & sumptuous pancakes you will ever eat, and I can’t stop telling everyone about them. The effort, care, and attention to detail that is clearly put into your stay is second to none. There are many thoughtful touches you will notice, which show why Bay Guest House deserves a 5* rating. If you have not been to the region before, they will also help you put together an itinerary to make the most of your trip. Thank you both for having us, we left feeling like spoiled family members! We have just had the most amazing stay at the Bay Guesthouse. The luxury accommodation is second to none and of the highest standard. If you want 'Wow', this is it. But not only that, there is more. The food that is so professionally and lovingly prepared will leave you in no doubt you have found something special. We were made to feel as if we were the most important guest ever to arrive in this piece of paradise. The views surrounding every window are spectacular from endless ocean scenes to green lush mountains. Armando, his wife Marianne and their delightful daughter Sabrina are the most perfect hosts. From candle lit dinners with the highest quality food and presentation to the full table of breakfast delights we just could not get through if we tried. And we tried! We spent our wedding anniversary at this beautiful captain’s cottage with our two-year-old girl. We were looking for a child friendly place with a nice sea view. From the very first email from Armando and Marianne we realized that bay guest house is the place we were looking for. We booked it with no hesitation. From the very first minute we enter this guest house, we felt very welcomed. The view is spectacular. And the combination of the panoramic view and lovely welcoming host made this place magical. If I could give 10 stars I would. I booked this venue to celebrate my husband 70th birthday after a recommendation from a friend and did not regret the choice at all. We stayed 4 nights with another couple joining us for the weekend and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts to make our holiday an event to remember. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and we feel very privileged to have Armando and Marianne look after us. The venue is amazing with million dollars views, the location is remote but not too far away from Havelock North. The attention to detail and right mix of friendly and professional service will have us returning in the future. A big THANK YOU to our hosts, we could not have asked for better.

A wonderful place for a special occasion - superb hosts, great food and an amazing setting. Very private guest quarters with generous facilities and a stunning view of sunrise and sea to wake to. Private quarters are accessed from generous, dining, sitting and conservatory spaces, all with spectacular views of the sea and surrounding farmland. The Guesthouse is beautifully designed, constructed and decorated with quality materials and fittings. We visited Bay Guesthouse with our good friends. The Captains House was perfect for 2 couples. The accommodation is superb with extremely well thought out extras and very high end amenities and furnishings. The place is simply stunning and was far beyond our expectations. The pictures do not so it justice. The views are magnificent. Armando and Marianne were wonderful hosts. Anticipating our every need. From appy’s on arrival to 2 amazing dinners on the terrace and yummy breakfasts— all was delicious With incredible attention to detail. We would love to have stayed longer. We will be back. I could not more highly recommend the Bay Guesthouse. We are discerning travellers and always book higher end accommodation. This is superb. You will not be disappointed.

We had the most fantastic stay with Armando and Marianne just before Christmas, 2019. Of 3 weeks travelling throughout New Zealand, our stay at the Bay Guesthouse was by far the most memorable. The views are spectacular, the house extremely comfortable and very luxurious and the hosts, truly welcoming. This is a very special place. It is a beautiful house in a stunning location. The "Captain's House" which was our "exclusive" accommodation over three nights offers delicious luxury and great comfort, while still feeling "homely". We loved it. The views over the sea and countryside from the rooms and large deck are fantastic. We didn't want to leave. Best of all was the super hospitality of Marianne and Armando, who made us feel instantly welcome and whose warmth, skill and attention to detail is evident in everything, from the lovely food, to the bathroom fittings and delightful decor. This place is the prime example of New Zealand paradise. The two hosts Armando and Marianne take the best care of you. From the stunning east coast views to the 5-star 3 course dinner, The Bay Guest House was a warm and comfortable welcome that made our Honeymoon a time we will never forget. Armando and Marianne took the time to get to know us and made the whole stay absolutely exquisite. The Bay Guest House is nicely located as it’s a 40min drive to Napier and a 15-minute drive to gorgeous wineries such as Graggy Range, Black Barn and Te Mata Estate as well as being close to the stunning Mangapapa Hotel. Nice walking options close by, from Waimarama Beach to Maraetotara Falls, plenty to do for all couples and families alike. We came back from our honeymoon relaxed and rejuvenated; we will definitely be back as it holds a special place in our hearts. Do yourselves a favour and book a trip ASAP!

We have just spent two amazing days at the Bay guesthouse overlooking Waimārama. The views over the Pacific Ocean are spectacular and the blue of sea and sky, and lemony-yellow of the sunshine are reflected in the colour scheme of the buildings. The overall feeling is one of space, light and sunshine. So good for the soul and overall health. One first enters the Lodge through the Atrium which already sets the scene for the luxury of views and warmth that follow with the immaculately-appointed kitchen, the dining room with a view and a large yet cozy lounge. No detail has been spared, whether it be the infinity pool beside the guest bedroom, or the walkway to reach the Captain's Cottage over the same infinity pool. Mirrors have been strategically placed so that even when you turn your back in the bathroom to clean your teeth, the vision of blue sea is still reflected in the facing mirror. The sun shines through the extensive floor to ceiling windows throughout the day. In all my years living in New Zealand, (I am a kiwi!!!), I have never stayed in or visited such an outstanding Lodge where the internal flow and interior décor match the infinity and colours of the ocean and horizon. I shall return.

If there were seven stars available, I would have given this place 7 stars. It is hard to describe adequately the service we received here, and the quality of the facility with its stunning view. Armando and Marianne are the perfect hosts; they are talented, considerate and exceptionally knowledgeable about what it takes to make guests feel at home and at ease. Armando organized a wine tour for us choosing the best guide I have ever experienced. The food they prepared for us was fantastic and presented in the most stunning fashion. If you have the ability to book here, do it!

Bay Guesthouse is a beautiful holiday destination overlooking the ocean and the mountains, delivering 5 star accommodation and more. Marriane and Armando greeted us all personally on arrival and could not do enough to make our time with them very special indeed. On our first night we booked a meal cooked by Armando which was delicious, he catered for all of our dietary requirements. If I had to describe my experience in one word, it would be 'luxury'. The location is fabulous giving a very exclusive feel, yet just a short drive to the beach and wineries all around. I would recommend a holiday here to anyone who wants a little piece of heaven in their lives.

Wow what a weekend, it started with me contacting Marianne and Armando through their web site as I wanted to take my wife away for a weekend for her birthday. Right form the start they came back to me promptly and offered to make Joanne a birthday cake. We even pre- arranged the menu, they were very accommodating as to me not eating seafood. We arrived late afternoon early evening, the place is a little hard to find the first time, the GPS got us close but I suggest that you read the very well prepared and supplied directions. Driving up the drive and finally reaching the top we found ourselves looking at the Bay Guest House, a very well presented modern building with a 360 degree view to die for. And of course Marianne and Armando were waiting for us, a quick introduction including an arm around the shoulder and we were shown around. The place was fantastic and the photos on the web site don’t do it justice. Armando brought our luggage in and refused any help from me. We were given some advice of places for dinner in Havelock North, we decided on the pizza, a little place kind of hidden away which we would have never found had we not been given directions, the crust was the best that I can remember ever having. Next morning we woke up and headed to breakfast at the arranged time, oh my god there was that much food I wondered who else would be joining us, there was food we wouldn’t have usually had for breakfast but we had a go anyway, we ate too much but enjoyed everything we ate. We went off for a massage and wine / local area tour before arriving back for a quick shower and then the three course dinner. We sat down to the dinner Marianne and Armando treated us like royalty, and were joined by their daughter to help plate up our meals. Again the food was fantastic, food we wouldn’t normally eat, we were out of our comfort zone and enjoyed every minute. We decided to sit and talk with Marianne and Armando after dinner there was no pressure and they would have gone with the flow and left us to it if that had been what we had wanted. I was interested in their story how and why New Zealand. Sunday morning we woke up to another beautiful sun rise, then another huge breakfast this time with the added bonus of a French omelette, this I will remember for a long time, we were seen off like long lost friends. The was one of my better decision’s, not only was the place, accommodation and view outstanding what really made the weekend was the interaction with Marianne and Armando. The Bay Guest House is very unique and provides what I would say is fantastic value for money, they have pitched their pricing so that almost anyone could afford this experience. Our family had the absolute thrill of staying 4 nights here over Labour Weekend. I am pleased to write this review as we were all treated like royalty from the moment we arrived until the time we left. Marianne and Armando were genuinely invested in making the special occasion I planned for our family celebration truly memorable. The Guest house was absolutely amazing - first class facilities, spacious and peaceful. As for the meals - don’t bother going off site as cafes or vineyard restaurants would be hard pushed to beat what was presented to us meal after meal. We were all very sad to leave as we were treated as if we were family. This is definitely “the” place to stay in the Hawkes Bay.

Food out of this world and Armande and Marianne couldn't do enough for us - they even made up some platters for us (from our leftover food supplies) when we're hadn't even requested a meal! My partner and I recently stayed at the Captains House while in the area for a Mission Estate concert, and had the most amazing stay and experience. <br/>The accommodation itself was impeccable, not a detail was overlooked...I was particularly impressed that EVERYTHING I went looking to use was available, not to mention exactly where I thought it would be! Armando & Marianne were incredible hosts - very conscientious, thorough, giving but also very aware of their guests personal space and needs. <br/>Our breakfast spread was delicious, fresh fruits, freshly baked breads, spreads, cheeses, gorgeous muesli & yoghurt. We also took up our hosts offer of a 3 course chefs table dinner (an absolute bargain at $45 each). Both Armando & Marianne are extremely talented chefs & our meal was delicious, their conversation easy and constantly aware of their guests needs - filled water & wine glasses, time alone, empty plates cleared, & information about the meal, our hosts lives & the house alike. <br/>We will certainly be back to stay here & would recommend The Captains House without hesitation. I feel that as well as the beautiful accommodation & experience, we also made a connection with our very kind hearted and generous hosts & for that I thank them. 10/10.

Want to be treated like royalty? I highly recommend Bay Guesthouse for just such an experience. My 86 year old mother had not been on holiday for a while due to her mobility so I wanted something which would be memorable and accessible. Wow all I can say is, as good as the photos are they do not do this place justice. It is an overall experience. We were greeted at the door by Armando, Mary Ann and son Fabian and welcomed like we were the most important people on earth. The house is views all the way through from the skylights to the styling and we were extremely lucky because we went at Christmas so the trees and decorations added extra atmosphere. The Captains House is strategically placed to make the most of the sea views and sunrises. Everything was easily accessible for my mother and her walker and wheelchair. Armando's meals were a treat and specifically catered with my mother in mind. One the 2nd night we had the pleasure of their company at dinner. Once you have experienced luxury like this I think one risks being spoilt(for comparisons) for the rest of your life. This is not our normal price range so all the love and attention was appreciated and I will be forever thankful to Armando and Maryanne for providing this last memorable holiday experience for my mother.

I chose Bay Guesthouse to celebrate my husband’s birthday because of the great reviews and photos on their website. It exceeded all of our expectations and everything the reviews said was right and more. Perfectly balancing five-star features with bespoke twists, every aspect of the guest experience at this luxe retreat has been designed and built by them to elevate and redefine luxury: from the interior design intricacies that pay homage to the hosts’ background to the personalised and attentive service on hand to curate your perfect Hawke’s Bay escape. We experienced five-star sophistication perched high on the hilltop, soaking up uninterrupted vistas of the ocean and Waimarama beach from every room. We had a sumptuous breakfast spread each morning consisting of homemade bread and pastries, cured salmon, cold meats, fruit salad, selection of cheeses, French toast with caramelised banana one morning and the French omelette with camembert and bacon on another and the list goes on. What made it extra special was the pear frangipane tart they made on the morning of my husband’s birthday (see photo). In the evening, we had an intimate candlelit three-course epicurean dining experience with the best ricotta ravioli starter in tomato sauce, main course fish medley of gurnard, monkfish and salmon in the most delicious creamy white wine sauce, followed by a dessert trio of crème caramel, tiramisu and strawberry sorbet. We also had their handpicked Paritua wines which we really enjoyed, so much so we went to the Paritua winery the next day and bought some to take home. Most important of all was the warm welcome and hospitality of Armando and Marianne. It was like meeting wonderful old friends and sharing life experiences while being pampered by them. Thank you for a perfect memorable getaway and we will be back for more!

Exceptional hosts at magnificent location made it worthwhile we had 40 minute drive to/from guesthouse and downtown Napier Marianne & Armando exemplified Swiss hospitality as they anticipated every need. Their Little Bay Guesthouse deserves a big reputation as they have splendid location overlooking the coast in three directions and overlooking rolling Tuscan-type hills in the 4th. On day of arrival we opted to stay in. Armando cooked a delicious meal we enjoyed whilst the sun went down on their amazing vistas. Breakfasts were another highlight of amazing choice and quality. Armando helped us book a private wine tour with Tony Bird, a life-long winemaker whose love for and enthusiasm about Hawke’s Bay wines was catching, especially Don’s explanation out in the vineyard. A second private tour with Tony Morris to the gannett colony at Cape Kidnappers is not to be missed - a unique and deeply interesting tour with a charming, amusing and knowledgable guide. We were sad to leave Marianne & Armando and their amazing guesthouse, but left with warm memories that will stay with us. Perfect !

We had the most wonderful experience with Marianne & Armando at Bay Guesthouse. Their hospitality is absolutely from the heart, and they have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable and relaxed. There are so many highlights to mention - the amazing views across the ocean, the sunrise watched from a comfy bed, the luxury of the accomodation (including the bath with a view!), but most of all the conversations with the hosts, and the exquisite FOOD prepared by the hosts themselves. We are from Napier and wanted a night away, without spending our limited time travelling too far. Staying at this guesthouse we felt we had escaped to another world, and yet it was only a short drive. From our very first email contact with our host, Armando, we could not have hoped for better or more enthusiastic service. He went out of his way to make sure that everything ran smoothly for us, giving us crystal clear directions to his family's wonderful home and welcoming us with great warmth (and delicious desserts) on our arrival. This impeccable standard of hospitality was maintained throughout our 3 night stay. Nothing was too much trouble with Armando, his wife, Marianne and daughter, Sabrina attending to our every need. Breakfast was served at whatever time we wanted and was just fantastic - a fabulous selection of homemade produce including gravadlax, fresh fruit, yoghurts, caramelised nuts, meats, cheese and freshly baked pastries and bread. Without exception these were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We were also fortunate enough to have the pleasure of dinner at the "Captain's table" one night. Our meal was prepared exactly as we had asked and lived up to the standard of the breakfast. The family were wonderful hosts spending time chatting to us, preparing special items of food and offering numerous good recommendations about things to do in the surrounding area. Over and above all of this Bay Guesthouse sits on a cliff top in a truly spectacular spot - we even had breakfast served outdoors on our first morning! Accommodation is spacious, private and very well appointed. We felt very much at home throughout our stay. This was our first visit to New Zealand but we have promised to return and we will undoubtedly visit Armando and his family again. We now have a new expression we use together "Armando would do this" which basically covers anything involving exceptional, friendly service.

As they say..... better late than never! This review is well overdue and I’ve been meaning to write one for a couple of months now. Where to start!! From the moment we arrived at the bay guest house we were treated like royalty! We were greeted by Armando and Marianne at the door and it was like we were family. They were so welcoming Armando, Marianne and Sabrina are amazing people and fantastic hosts. Nothing was ever a problem, they helped us find activities to do during the day and the food they cooked us was incredible, don’t go out for dinner when you stay here because their cooking is better than you will get served in any of the restaurants. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed. The views are some of the best you will find in the Hawkes bay, the accommodation is 5 star and I can’t fault anything about this place! The only thing we were disappointed in was that our stay wasn’t longer as we were so sad to leave! We can’t wait to get back there. Armando, Marianne and Sabrina we just want to thank you all so much for going above and beyond for us, For the amazing conversations, your warm hospitality, the laughs and giving us a stay that we will never forget and never stop talking about, we tell everyone about you guys! The best weekend away we have ever had - beyond our expectations! The views were to die for, the lodgings luxurious, the food was devine but it was the hosts Marianne and Armando who truly made it magical. We were there to attend the Elton John concert at Mission Estate Winery (Armando also drove us to the concert and back), however, the whole weekend became the highlight thanks to our amazing hosts and our stay in the Captain's House. We will be back.

We stayed here for a special birthday celebration and loved it! Spoiled for choices and every need anticipated and well met. A lovely break from thoughts of Covid-19 and work. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a very peaceful, very comfortable spot overlooking a magical rural or seascape. We were especially impressed and delighted with both dinner (a three course taste treat) and breakfast (including the best French toast we've ever had, gravlax made on site & out of this world, scrumptious Bircher muesli and many other beautifully prepared and presented taste treats). Do not let the word 'guesthouse' put you off going here. This is luxurious and private accommodation. My wife and I were going to go to Huka Lodge but it was closed for renovations. I am so glad we didn't! Armando and Marianne (the lovely hostess) have built a beautiful place, high on a hill top with spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean, and have incorporated the best of European luxury (they are Swiss after all). Chef Armando will cook you some amazing meals if you want to dine in (highly recommend you do) or you can visit and dine out at one of the many wineries in the area. Simply an amazing place to stay. We were looking for a place away from everything where we could sit in front of of fire, read a book, admire the ocean and be spoilt. And this is exactly what we got. Marianne and Armando are incredibly professional and they did spoil us with perfect service. The location is a nice balance between blissful isolation and plenty of options, with the restaurants and vineyards of Havelock North only 25 minutes away. If you want to get away from it all and be spoilt, this is the place.

Perfectly poised on a hill top in the Hawkes Bay Region, Bay Guesthouse showcases from practically every light-filled room breathtaking vistas across the expansive deep blue South Pacific Ocean. It's a luxury guesthouse at its finest with double rooms, modern amenities, high-stud atrium lounge area, sprawling decks, and infinity pool. Here you can spend your day as if you don't have a care in the world. It couldn't be any-old-where in the world, this place is uniquely beautiful. The hosts Marianne and Armando lend to the ambience a cosmopolitan je ne sais quoi. Italian, Swiss - and now New Zealanders of course - their delicious menus and attention to detail with the preparation of each meal, their perceptive anecdotes each with a smattering of humour, their accommodating nature - they make this place one you'll want to come back to. Time and time again. They are those whose souls smile through their hearts, and whose hearts smile through their eyes. Here there's a banquet for breakfast and fine dining for dinner. Mornings are welcomed in with a surprise selection of, say, french omelette, mushrooms, bacon, home-baked bread rolls, brie, camembert, salami, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, freshly squeezed juices, tea, and coffee to die for. Dinner - a specially prepared impeccable three courses with hand-picked assortment of wines. The fine point - there's an emphasis on local produce. This accommodation is top of the line. Both hosts Marrianne and Armando are so very welcoming and spoilt us completely. Breakfast was included and Armando also cooked for us. He is a wonderful chief!! Kyle believes he had the best ham and cheese omelette ever. We specifically requested some foods and he had no hesitation to go out of his way and make it for us. Both are also very knowledgeable about the area and other locations and things to see and do. Now onto the accommodation, the captains house is the most beautiful place to be on the Hawke’s Bay! The view is phenomenal. You won’t be disappointed! The bath in the room looks right out onto the deck to the ocean. We made great use of the bath and there are bath bombs provided. The hosts go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and are such nice people! It was a real pleasure to stay with them!!

What an unreal 4 days we had at the Bay Guesthouse. With the accommodation nestled at the very peak of a magnificent hilltop, you will have your own private 360 degree view of the breathtaking Hawke's Bay from your bedroom window. The house itself is beautifully designed, boasting European class, space and style (which we learnt was built by the hosts themselves!). The service was simply impeccable. The best part of the whole experience of staying at this luxury location was, without a doubt, sharing it with Marianne, Armando, and their daughter Sabrina. They truly went above and beyond the meaning of hospitality. We were served the finest 3 course meals for dinner, and the most lavish buffet breakfast to greet us every morning. We were always spoilt with choice. They were attentive to all our needs and wants, and preempted things that we didn't even know we wanted - like cooking us a special breakfast unique to our region of the world, simply because they wanted us to feel at home, or a private car tour of the vineyards and the Hawke's Bay Region along with unique commentary that only Armando can provide. A timeless, priceless experience that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. We have left (begrudgingly!) with hearts and tummies full of love and laughter. My husband and I, along with two of our friends, have just spent the most amazing long weekend being totally pampered at Bay Guesthouse. We have been lucky enough to have travelled to many places around the world and can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. The view is drop-dead gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were absolutely divine, although they are directly responsible for us all gaining a few extra pounds, and finally our incredible hosts.
