Friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, no real “wow” factor though. Walls are paper thin, can hear the tv’s in the other rooms and also if someone is talking outside, I did have to call reception about that as I couldn’t sleep. It was sorted very quickly. Overall it was a good stay, met our needs, but obviously had some downs to it too. We may consider staying again, given that the soundproofing in the rooms is a bit better. Overall enjoyable.

Nice comfortable hotel. Restaurant has good and fairly reasonable breakfast options, and a good happy hour. Only downside for me- we had a non river side room which had a very small double bed (comfortable enough, just too small). Our family had a river side room that was much more roomy with a much better bed.

My husband and I booked on the day. From the minute the lady answered the phone till the minute we left the staff were so lovely! The room was amazing! The kitchen equipment was everything you'd need. Then the resturant was also 5star!! Whoever made up that menu needs to be knighted! Loved every minute of the whole experience! Will definitely be back!

Four of us had an amazing dinner at Trailways Hotel. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and servings very generous served by an efficient and friendly waitress. Actually, all the staff were really friendly. We had seafood chowder, Ginger and Chicken dumplings, Scallop and Prawn tortellini, Lamb and Steak for main and Apple doughnut and Brulee for dessert. We shared dessert because we were so full from entree and main. The outside eating area is a fantastic spot for a drink or to have your meal. A real gem in Nelson.

Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful clean, comfortable rooms. Value for money. Options available here also include bar and restaurant facilities. Dined in while staying, amazing food, great service. Even if not staying here, highly recommend booking for dinner.

Room was clean and very nice. TV had alot of channels. The bar/restaurant downstairs was also very good. Staff in the hotel and bar/restaurants were very welcoming and kind.

Great place to stay. Bit hard to get a drink.... Be careful, the advertise a rib eye steak but serve a scotch fillet.

This hotel is fine but very tired. Furnishings from the 90s, old bathroom (with a strong chemical smell), and actually quite noisy at night. Bound to be better options at the price point. [Update: wasn't expecting a passive aggressive response from management. A new TV and some hideous USB lamps don't offer much salvation for the tired room and weird smell]

Very comfortable, great restaurant service, friendly helpful staff - nothing seemed a problem. Rooms were very clean and inviting.

Was really pleased with the entire experience. Room was very clean and exactly as shown in pictures. Reception upon arrival was so welcoming made us feel very like we were home. Even let us check in early!! Restaurant is the hidden gem here. Food was very delicious but it's the staff that make the place. My daughter and myself were playing knots and crosses as we have always done so the amazing manager brought us over printed out versions so we didn't have to use a napkin!!! It's the little things that make customers smile. Thank you team

What a wonderful find in Nelson. Superb room facilities (including spa bath and underfloor heating in the bathroom). Very reasonably priced breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the river. And so close to the town centre.

Quiet, rooms, wonderful menus, great swimming pool, comfortable beds and helpful, friendly staff. Just stay and enjoy

Very impressed & great for money. Attention to detail with underfloor heating, plenty of extra bedding, nice deep bath and bath salts, good lighting options and super friendly staff. We thought some of the restaurant meals were overpriced and the food slightly average but it was a pleasant environment and the friendly attentive staff made it worthwhile. Would definitely stay here again.

Unexpected gem is how I'd describe this hotel. Lovely and clean, modern rooms, ours had a spa, and a great hairdryer which is a rarity in accommodation. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and both enjoyed it, although I wasn't overly impressed with the coffee. Great location, would definitely stay again.

Thanks to a warm welcome & ambience , relaxing at a pleasant table by the river watching the swans made a strong impression & wish to return someday 😀

Great location but had to pay extra 20 per room for a river side, which we thought what we had booked, obviously not reading timeline as not same shown in their room picture, later found that with online booking of extra 2 dollars NZ will get you the room!!! Also no lift as we were asked to go using stairs and we had to bring own luggage up the stairs ourselves… otherwise close to town and for 1night at Nelson

Have stayed here before. This time we woke up by the sound of water running in the room next door thinking we left our tap running by mistake (so not sure if rooms are sound proof). Our favorite room overlooks the river with lovely views in the evening. Great location and walking distance to restaurants and cinema which is a plus point. The bartender (hopefully I have your name right Jarred) makes excellent mocktails and cocktails and even remembered us from our last visit. Will definitely recommend!

Main accocoomodation for Conference. Great walk to Trafalgar Centre's. Nice food with breakfast at a discounted price. Nice touch on frosty morning. Water bottles for getting ice off windscreens in large car park. Close to town and walkways. Central.

We went as a group of 5. From beginning to end the wait staff were fantastic. As some of the party were elderly and the table next to us were slightly rowdy, we were offered a table in a quieter area. Nothing was too much for them. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals immensely. I would highly recommend this place.

The company used to put us here when The Rutherford was full up. I actually preferred to stay here! Beautiful rooms lining the awesome pool or the river, clean and well appointed. A place that's easy to call home on week long stints in Nelson!

Trailways is Awesome ! Always Great Staff and Genuinely Friendly. " The Tides " Restaurant is Fantastic !! You must Dine here ! Beautiful Table Settings, Professional Service , Ambience, and a View. Sit Outside on the Long Deck beside the Beautiful River. Have a pre-dinner drink; There's a nicely thought out Wine Menu and Great Cocktails at the Bar which are reasonably priced. I've worked in 4-5 Star Hotels, Fine Dining and Other Quality Restaurants for over 17 Years. Come here . Not just for a Birthday or Proposal .... Go often, It's really constantly Awesome 👍💖

The staff were very friendly, honest and helpful. I left my engagement ring behind and they kept it safe for me and got it back to me really quickly. Thank you :) Nice acceptably presented, modest, fairly modern and clean room although will say website paints a more glamorous image. Restaurant music too loud in the morning for my liking.

Great priced hotel and nice central location. Rooms were well presented and service was great. Would be 5 stars if the bedding comfort was slightly better - made sleeping a slight issue with hard bed and lumpy pillows.

Locally owned, clean, great location and a very good riverside bar and restaurant. Breakfast was impressive. Slight negative was thin walls on conjoining room meant you could hear a lot but that was mainly due to noise of other guests.

We stayed for 2 nights the room was very clean and roomy. Lovely view of the river out our door. Dined each morning and evening OGM amazing food and all the staff were lovely and friendly. Would stay there next time we are in Nelson.

Great bedroom with a great view overlooking river only thing that I would change was the pillows as I personally would rather a hard pillow rather than a very soft one

4.5 I was pleasantly surprised when upon checking in, the receptionist told me I got upgraded to the best room in the hotel. Out of habit, I took photos of the room before I unpacked. It was only when I had the night receptionist checked the TV channels that I realized, room 61 was a suite. For starters, it had a lot more channels than the regular rooms. I liked the fact that it had the amenities of an apartment too. The shower was cool, although I was a bit skeptical that the water from the side showers might go straight to my ears because of my height - but it didn't. 🙂 Although I was only there for one night, I really enjoyed my stay at Trailways Hotel. The staff was really friendly and it's only about 15 minutes from the airport. It's also next door to one of the best restaurants, The Tides. However, there were three little things I didn't like. One was the spring sofa bed in the lounge - it just looked out of place and it makes a lot of noise. The second is the cupboard where they put the glasses - it was on the top cupboard. Without a ladder, I couldn't reach them so I settled for a cup. Third was the absence of a shower door. Make sure you put a couple of bath mats on the floor before having a shower. But, overall, I highly recommend this hotel. Try to get room 61 if you can. Did I mention you also get the river view?

Room was great. Staff were exceptional. But The river side rooms really need high tide to be appreciated. During our stay an obnoxious guest flooded their room causing a fire alarm to go off and a complete hotel evacuation at 3am. Considering this was a special occasion this completely ruined the experience.

Lovely staff - nice room with great multi function shower heads. Enjoyed the room service food was great. Managed to get some laundry done (extra charge) breakfast was delicious.

Hotel is very quiet next to the river. The counter staff service is also very kind. The room was small but very clean. There is also an outdoor balcony space in the room. The only downside is that there is no elevator and you need to carry your luggage on the second floor.

Large modern hotel adjoining The Tides restaurant. Double bed was quite comfortable and bathroom beautifully lit with large clear mirrors on two sides.

I stayed one night for work and was upgraded to a suite with a lovely spa bath and view of the river. The meal was delicious and the wine selection was good. The front desk staff were fantastic and nothing was too difficult for them to arrange. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Friendly customer service, I may have came inside late but still they were there with my card ready for me to come in and sleep. One of the best places in Nelson. Will make sure to come back when I grow up. Mostly big thanks to the lady customer service. (Don’t know her name but she wears glasses.) Excellent stay, room good as, plenty of room and not over-priced at all. Best place we've stayed at by far.

We'll located right on the river side, it has free WiFi and gym access and a coin operated washing machine and dryer. The family room was a two floored room with the single beds on the upper floor. The rooms were small but cozy. The upper floor had a skylight while the lower one had a big balcony overlooking the river The kitchen was fully operational with a fridge kettle sink and dish washer. The common area doubles as the main bedroom where the hide a bed drops down. This was a little strange but other than that it was a good hotel.

A lovely spot, food looked nice. We just had a drink, slightly marred by condescending waitress. Nice atmosphere.

Awesome staff who genuinely care and are attentive to the guests needs. Food is top notch and prices reasonable for the quality and time taken. Rooms are very clean and tidy. Heated bathroom floor and spa bath a bonus. Free wifi that actually works and hi speed. Location is very central and the river view just stunning. Well run establishment and ill be back. My husband and I had a lovely room overlooking the river were we sat out and had a drink on the tables and chairs. So close to downtown that we didn’t have to drive to see many sites and lots of choices to eat. Patricia was incredibly helpful and friendly! Highly recommend!

Quiet hotel with a nice balcony. Staff does everything to make you feel comfortable. Everything new and clean. Only a few minutes walk to i-site, supermarket, Burger King, Subway, a lot of stores and even a cinema. Recommended place to stay in Nelson.

Good central location, with delicious meals in the restaurant and fast service. Hair-dryers were a bit sad and the underfloor heating in our room was hard to control, but otherwise a good spot for work stays.

A great Hotel extremely central to the Nelson CBD. I'm local so haven't stayed there but we have enjoyed its fine bar restaurant facility, The Tides many times. Superbly managed with friendly staff. If you're planning a few nights in Nelson why not here.

Lovely balcony overlooking the river and the city. We sat in the afternoon sun with a wine and listened to the river.

Nice place with good lunch, but wasn't very well set up for meetings. Having pens and notepads on the tables is ok, but what's needed is access to power for 40 laptops and solid wifi.

Overall experience was simply great, the spa was to die for but a little loud and the wall's weren't soundproof so we heard people in the other rooms, other then that the room was perfect and the bed was divine.

It's really a nice hotel in Nelson. The most impressive thing is their custom service. We accidentally left our credit card at hotel's counter. Their customer service is very nice and patient, helping us send the credit card back to our country. Trailways Hotel Nelson is a hotel that you can trust.

Great location quiet rooms but getting dated. Rooms and bathrooms are well kept and exceptionally clean. Service and breakfast were excellent.

Freindly staff. Parking is limited. But the room is well appointed for the dollar spend.

A good place but watch out you don't get a room close to the restaurant and bar as the late night banter and singing is a bit much if you are trying to sleep.
