S.My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Stayed 2 nights in a 4berth cabin then upgraded to a family size on our last night. Staff was helpful and even moved our stuff over while we were out. Friendly and welcoming. Great facilities clean and tidy. Loved it would totally stay again. Thanks Belt road team
S.We are here for 4 nights to start with. We have a lovely site looking straight out over the Tasman sea. Can see the port. Very quiet apart from the cicadas. Ablutions are clean and well kept. So we are happy with where we are.
S.The owner here was so lovely and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was awesome! Good views, right next to the beach. Plenty of facilities and they were kept quite clean considering it’s was a peak time. Great experience, will be back. Thank you!
D.Fantastic place to stay. Friendly and accommodating owners. We were able to take our small dog with us which was awesome. Great size sites, easily fitted our camper van and vehicle. Our site had awesome views and right by a new amenities block which is one of the best I’ve seen. Park was tidy and well maintained. Amenities were clean and well laid out, with great size kitchen and lounge area. Easy access to the walkway and down to the port. We’ve booked in to go again.
T.Absolutely wonderful service. There was a system jam up when I went to pay online, my phone died, so I phoned and spoke with Ricky and he and his wife sorted it for me. We needed a place to stay for 5 adults and 2 kids urgently, and they accommodated us in one of their wonderful ensuite/self contained cabins. What a great view and lovely atmosphere. The place was clean and tidy, and the facilities (playground) and space was fantastic. The hosts were amazing and very friendly and helpful. Thanks for having us. Kana whānau :)

How can we ever book anything else? :) One of our favourite spots for a long w/e (or longer) away. The only problem will be if this place gets too popular and we no longer can get in. Yeah. Oh. I mean, don't stay here. It's terrible. Worse place ever.

Definitely the best one I've stayed at. Amazing coastal views of course, whilst only being a minute from the centre of town! Best of both worlds without the high prices. Highly recommend.

m.Beauty of a camp site. Views out to the Harbour from our site. Had a rainy day here that was a little painful but made a lot easier by the excellent indoor facilities. Plenty of space for board games and movies if needed. Right on the coastal walkway. Just biked with the family. So convenient to town too.
L.After looking at many camping grounds I decided on Belt Road and I’m so glad I did! They answered all my questions and even supplied an EV plug adapter so we could charge our PHEV. Excellent facilities and beautiful view. On the hill it can get a bit windy that’s the only downside. Enough room between each camper, didn’t feel squashed. Nice showers and toilets very clean, kitchen has fridge and freezer, oven, but bring all your own kitchen tools, plates and cutlery. Very peaceful place, we had a wonderful break! Nice and central to town so you can explore. Highly recommend! 11/10

M.Nice camp but not dog friendly. So we will never be staying there as there are other very nice dog friendly camps in New Plymouth, including Oakura and Fitzroy.
Thank you for your response. I must be fair and add that the other camps in New Plymouth only allow dogs out of the high season also. Belt Road is a very nice camp with great facilities but due to us having a larger Lab their policy of small dogs will unfortunately not allow us to stay. Where as the others do allow larger well managed and well behaved dogs.

J.One of the best kept secrets in New Plymouth. The cabin we stayed in was very clean, tidy and comfortable. It felt like it was brand new. The customer service was outstanding, and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The view of the port and ocean was breathtaking. Close to the walkway, cafes and a short stroll into town. Got the unsuite with private bathroom and it was quite cramped. One of our lights didn't work so it was also quite dark. Only free coffee/tea sachets.

Facilities were great, but the shower could use a bit more pressure as it just dribbled out the whole time.
Has a big lounge with a couche and sky tv, but I don't feel those are a thing you should be going to do at a camp ground.

S.Popped into the Belt Road Seaside Holiday Park on the slim chance they might be able to accommodate us (in our VW van) for one night during peak season (27 Dec). Lady luck was on our side, the lovely staff were able to offer us the last available site, one that overlooked the Tasman sea, just stunning! We'd seen a sign saying 'try our new spa pool' so we booked one for one hour for 6pm that night too. Fantastic staff, fantastic spot, fantastic facilities. Thank you so much team Belt Road Holiday Park, we loved our brief but fully Seaside stay :)

Hands down one of the best holiday parks I've stayed in. I didn't want to leave! The office team are amazing. So helpful and polite. The information booklets on their office are so very helpful. Facilities are clean and location is very good. It sits alongside a beach. What's better than that? B e a utiful! We will be back for sure!
My only key piece of feedback would be to perhaps change the bathroom locks to a coded system so when its the middle of the night and you're busting and forget the key, you aren't too startled by the closed door or the fact you're trying to unlock the door and its giving you grief haha

B.Park is simple clean & tidy. We parked right on the beach front. Beautiful views but really windy at night, plus we stayed in Winter and it was raining. The park has kitchen, clean toilets and showers (these are all keyed). The team are friendly. Nice place to stay.

M.Excellent value for your money. Beautiful views, clean rooms, super friendly staff. All together great experience. The only thing that could be improved was the quality of the mattress. It was very saggy and offered little support. Both of us had a bit of a sore back in the morning but other than that no complaints whatsoever.

V.It's amazing how camping can be fun and people can coexist peacefully. This is an incredible place and it has one of the most beautiful views of the sea. Walk, enjoy a sunny day, make a barbecue with family and friends. You will never regret spending a day there. Enjoy the facilities like clean bathrooms, kitchen, playgrounds, sites with electricity.
蓓.We booked a studio and stayed one night. The bed is comfy, sofa is cosy, all the white appliance you gonna need are there. The best of the best is the sea view - simply cannot beat it. Hearing the waves and falling asleep is just refreshing!

m.This holiday park is THE most expensive powered site we've stayed at. We've recently(February) travelled the south Island and stayed in many campgrounds/holiday parks...
Facilities here are equally as good as..but not better than....
The views possibly..... a little better than some other camps..

I.Not so friendly Welcome. The lady mistook my dad for my husband... Price okay, probably average for the region. We weren't asked wheather we wanted powered or non-powered but straight put onto a powered site. Maybe that's how it goes for campervans. The western part is nice and facilities D are nice and clean. Large window front. There are several amenity blocks throughout the area, very well maintained. Western part looking over the harbour and its car park. Ngamotu Beach 10 min walk down the hill.

L.A great spot for the family. With walking tracks and restaurants close by. The room was definitely smaller in real life than how it seemed in the photos online when booking. As far as value for money, I thought it was a bit overpriced. The bathroom was good.
T.So far very few places I have visited deserve a 5 star rating. This camp site has met all my expectations as well as some more. The ablution facility is tops, the kitchen and lounge is beautiful. The scenery is great. I will return.
C.Stayed here for one night in our rental camper in an unpowered site and it was incredible!! Fantastic price especially considering how amazing the amenities were. The view was absolutely breathtaking and the staff were all friendly and helpful! 10/10 would stay again!

P.27 - 30 Dec 13. First time to stay at a holiday Park, stayed 3 nights, our first impression - great. 4 adults 3 children, we stayed in the family bungalow. Loads of space and the view is stunning. There were campers in front of our cabin but that is to be expected at a holiday camp. We read their website so knew what to bring. We walked to the aquatic centre and the boating club for dinner, short drive to Pukekura Park. The seaside walkway is another way to enjoy an evening walk. We will definitely go back to stay.
C.Located fairly close to the port and conveniently near enough to the city centre. It has good security, is well laid out and most of the cabins have sea views. Very comfortable. Great value and an excellent alternative to motels, apartments or holiday house accomodation options.
j.Great tent site and friendly place for family with young kids. Very clean kitchen, bathroom and TV room. You can borrow some plates and cups from reception if you don’t bring your own. Besides, great sea views and tracking route starting. Definitely recommend.

F.Lovely seaside views, great spot for sun set while watching the surf! walking distance to surf break and costal walkway. handy to town centre. Shared facilities are locked which keeps these free for paying users but can be annoying when there are a few of you sharing a key. Good solid parking for motor homes (no fear of getting stuck in the mud). Compact but well laid out
B.We stayed here for three nights in our tent. We booked over the phone and advised of the size of our group and tents so they put us across three adjacent sites, which we thought was generous before we arrived. After we arrived, we could see why they'd selected three sites - the sites are tiny. We just fit two tents and two cars on but there wasn't any space left for guy ropes. The road is a hairpin at the top in the cheap seats where they'd put us and the road is just a single lane wide and is completely unlit at night. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody has their head crushed whilst sleeping in a tent if somebody can't make that tight turn trying to reach the car park on the left or tents further up. It's especially tight if there's tents to the right and parking on the left. If you view the camp on Satellite view on Google Maps you'll see what I mean - it's the Z shaped junction just south of reception at the main gate. It's an accident waiting to happen.
There's also an obvious but unspoken demarcation point where the middle shower block is - all the sites to the West are the nice ones with bushes around that you see in all the photos, with a brand new toilet and shower block, whilst all the sites to the East of there are tiny sites with no privacy where they dump the families with kids. It's fair enough that they group those with kids as the kids play together, and those without kids would probably appreciate the reduced noise, but I feel quite mislead as all the photos only show the good side with bushes and privacy and not a single photo of the Eastern side. The Eastern side is like festival camping with no privacy at all.
The Eastern shower block is also in serious need of renovation, and the single toilet and single urinal just aren't enough for the 30 or so sites on that side of camp. The urinal is one of the old steel wall types and absolutely stinks day and night. It's that bad that with a breeze you can even smell it in the kitchen. There's also some basic maintenance that hasn't been completed in years. For example, the shower sprays water everywhere as the shower curtain hangs on the wrong side of the divider, so water runs all the way through the bathroom. Not a huge deal if you wear shoes, but it's unnecessarily slippery as simply fixing the shower curtain position would solve the problem. Another issue is that the shelves in the showers are tilted at 30 degrees as they're old and have come away from the wall so your dry stuff falls onto the dirty wet floor. Nothing that a handyman couldn't fix in 10 minutes with a new bracket and two screws, but I'll bet it's been like that for years as it's the same in ALL of the showers, men's and women's. One of our group tried the newer West side shower blocks and, while much nicer, found them to be scalding hot if set too far to warm - there's obviously no tempering valve on them (or it isn't set correctly). There are other frustrating issues around like these that wouldn't take much to fix and would make the place a lot better, but I won't list them all as I'd probably just be wasting my time.
The staff were friendly and facilities generally OK, but overall a mixed experience due to the cramped and potentially dangerous layout of the sites and the pretty basic maintenance that hasn't been completed in years. For the price you pay, it's just "OK". Not sure we'd go again unless the price was lowered to reflect the current facilities or the facilities fixed up to reflect the current price.
A.Beautiful views, short walk to restraunts next to the dock. The area is stunning and fun. Locals are friendly. It has a small play ground and place to clean your fish. You have to order towels and blankets which was odd so watch for that. You don't want to show up and not have blankets lol.

L.The best campsite of all, I stayed on during travelling in New Zealand! Awesome view over the sea and the habour (nice sunset), the sites are devided by small hedges, shower, toilette and sink together in one room, big kitchen (not perfectly equipped, but enough for a campsite) and a cozy TV-lounge. That's about the facility-block I used, because there are a couple on the campsite. All in all just good!

L.Lovely place in an amazing spot! Great facilities and we'll maintained. Easy walk in town from the site along the handy coastal walkway, decent fishing off the breakwater only 2 minutes walk from the site also.
A.Nice campsite, separated tent site with bush, clean facilites and kitchen. Too bad that the water taste like mud, so you will not be able to drink it (even if you boiled it). The tv room is clean, the kitchen is well equiped but there is some ants in it so beware. They will ask you for a 10$ deposit for a card to pass the front gate in car.
S.A great spot to camp with ocean views in New Plymouth. The coastal walk is closeby and Mt Taranaki is about 30 minutes driving. This area offers a lot in the way of entertainment and the campground is clean with nice amenities, especially the new kitchen and restrooms in the back (building D).
B.Friendly reception, clean facilities and fantastic views. Excellent Bach Cafe 5 minutes walk down the sea path.

Gorgeous campsite, managed by a lovely young couple (Anna and Peter), supported by such a helpful, attractive team. Sorry, but superlatives won't cover it - go see for yourself. P.$22 for one person campground. Nice shower room with hot water, laundry machine, kitchen and TV lounge. Plus, it has a nice view of sky at night. Totally worth it

B.Belt road is really well run and popular , if you like railway lines it is even better , it is close to the city to walk to and has a wonderful view out to sea , always when booking ask for a sea view location .[be careful of the railway line and young children] .I never expected it to be so good . park-sleep .

J.Powered camp sites on the top of a grass bank looking over the seaside walkway and breakwater of the harbour. Beautiful spot with great sunsets. Very popular year round so book ahead for a great site.

S.I have stayed at Belt Road campsite many times over the last few years. First in tents and now in our campervan. It's a great camping ground. One of the best I've stayed at. Facilities are lovely and clean. It's close to town as well as being right on the coastal walkway. Dog friendly too so we can have our little dog with us.
And the views. Just stunning views out over Breakwater Bay and the port.
