Good basic accommodation. What was great though was the lady running the place. She was very accommodating, even though I was arriving late and leaving early. She even upgraded my room! The bed was comfy & warm and the shower hot!

Peaceful can hear Moreporks at night. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is an old place, not family friendly. Nothing to do for children, no playground or trampoline, eve though there is ample space, only 100 Mb wifi and we didnt get signal in our room anyway. The place smells of humidity and is quite dark and gloomy. Mattresses are old and quite uncomfortable. NOT for a family with children. Showers and toilets ( in sheds) do not feature in ads so attaching pictures so that you know what you are getting yourself into.

Nice place to stay, I arrived for 2 nights and finally stayed more than 1week. Beds and dorms are very basic, but everything is very clean. The garden is great with many trees and tuis! The manager was at the same time friendly and professional, I really enjoyed staying there.

Very nice place to stay. The owner was super nice, was waiting for us for the check in because of our late arrival, and helped us with everything! She even filled hot bottles for us. The place is small, clean and cheap. It felt very warm and welcoming. Highly recommended

A little bit far from the city center but if you have your own car that's good. The lady at the reception was nice. I ve got the room clean. And only sharing with one other girl . Really good place if you don't like partying because that's a long walk to go there haha

Owner was nice, friendly and helpull in providing lots of informations. Room were clean, confortable and warm with lots of plugs to use to charge electronical devices. Big back yard suitable for tents and camping and massive parking area. Kitchen was clean just a bit cosy with a big socialising area. Just one shower and one toilette but manageable. Laundry service available. Only down side: need to pay for the wifi. Plus side: nice friendly kitty looking for cuddles!!

We called late and asked if we could book rooms for 4 and also check in after the front desk closed. There was no problem with that. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. Our room and bathroom that were shared were clean and tidy.

We booked this hostel for a weekend to climb mount taranaki. It's was a good price quality service, 100 mb free WiFi and the showers were good, fully furnished kitchen. Beds could be improved a bid, the bunk beds in our room made a lot of noise when some one moved. All in all a good place.

A lovely cottage-like camping lodge owned & run by Lynnette, who is very friendly and talkative. She'll quickly make you feel like at home. She's also very friendly and talkative, and will go above and beyond to help you and to make your stay very enjoyable. The facilities are of good quality. If you look for a fancy lodge with modern facilities such as tv in each rooms, then this is not for you; however, if you look for a lodge to help you connects with nature, your surroundings, other people, and make you feel peaceful, then this is one of the best place to be in.

Good for very very basic accommodation. Beds with nice fresh linens but bring your own towels and tea bags. Great central location and friendly service

I stayed in a dorm over the Womad weekend and I felt it was a most wonderful place!!! After a very busy day with thousands of people around it was a beautiful quiet haven. Beatiful bush and gardens! Managed by a lovely person, helpful and considerate! Kitchen is very well decked out and the facilities adequate. I will definitely go there again . Liesbeth

Lovely place, very helpfull and interesting lady at the reception. Feels like we were at home ! The kitchen is big, clean and very well equiped. Hot water and clean showers/toilets. I'll definitely go back there if i could ! :)

Great location. Friendly staff who seem to be run off their feet which may explain the less than ideal amenity cleanliness and availability of essential bathroom supplies. In saying that I would come back.

Nice hostel,with chilled and quiet atmosphere. Tue management is always there to help or open for a good chat. The kitchen facilities are in good quality and some Nice pets make this place really cozy

Wooden cabins and an old school hostel vibe from the separate large kitchen and eating area. Big open space, more or less a field, for parking cars and throwing a frisbee around. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We had a very pleasant day in the eco lodge, welcoming staff and beautiful place. They did everything they could to makes feel at home and solve all our problems giving us a nice cozy bigger room to spend a quiet beautiful evening. Highly recommend it!

Stayed there for a night over and really enjoyed it. It's nestled in a cool part of the city where you wouldn't think and feel like you're in a big city. Enjoyed waking up to rain falling through the trees and chickens clucking about!! I'd definitely go back there when I'm visiting the area.

Cozy seperate large cabins, good for teams to stay when travelling. Wifi is bad, showers are bad. Make sure you bring bedding because thiers is very itchy

I stayed there in November with a large group of friends and it was a fantastic choice. Clean, good facilities, great location and a friendly manager! Would recommend :)

theres a lady who manages there called Tina, and she is awesome! made the stay so much more enjoyable, her enthusiasm and attitude made us very cheerful.. will stay here again in a heart beat because of her!.... and the cat peanutnutnut

Very nice manager Lynn helped us with our stay in New Plymouth. They have a friendly cat that loves following people even down to the steam to 'help' feed the eels!

Host was very friendly and helpful. Made good recommendations for food and activities. Clean kitchen and shared facilities. 100mb wifi free then pay for wifi. Would stay again!

loved it..the lady there was helpfull and cared about our stay..yes accommadation is a little bit older..but loved it the same...ow and the ell there..lol..hes cool..

Great place, felt homely and welcoming. The staff were exceptional.

Had a really great 'Ground Based Rescue' training here. The meals were delicious & catered for all dietary requirements.

Beautiful hostel completely surrounded by flora and fauna as well as a water stream. Very affordable price. Hugely underrated!

The place is decent, I only stayed here to do the mount eggmont and the manager was really nice and even helped organise a shuttle to the track for me

I tried to put a low rating but this automatically gave it a 5 . Personally I would have rated this visit as a 1 star. Absolutely shocking service re:booking. When first booking an answer with in minutes of sending email. Tried to cancel booking by email no response 2 days later so I rang only got answer phone left a message again no response . So the next week sent an email asking to confirm booking as a change of circumstances so was now able to go . Got an email back within minutes saying they had no booking for me. It had been booked and paid for in Early March. So I let them know the details. Then received a confirmation of booking. However when I turned up today I had no booking. The receptionist was lovely and got me a room but I will never come again. The shower block was outside around the outside of the building. Two cubicles with shower curtains but no privacy for undressing and dressing. Very disappointed with this experience 4 years ago I was in a better block but this visit has soured my whole weekend. Had a very bad night with young guests partying then arguing at midnight and sounded like the room being smashed. Then woke this morning to water dripping onto the bed and in the room from the I assume a sunroof with very discoloredcorrugated novalight. My recommendation is book else where as i will be doing in the future.

(Translated) Lovely hostel! Cute decoration in the rustic style. The receptionist was a sweetheart. The dormitory I stayed in was spacious and comfortable. A quiet place surrounded by green. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to take a break and relax in the middle of a busy backpacking. The only downside is that it's a little way out of the center. You can walk, the only problem is to get there with your backpacks. It can be tiring for some because it is in a steep location. But if you make sure, it's well worth it! (Original) Hostel adorável! Definitivamente recomendável para quem quer dar uma pausa e relaxar no meio de um mochilão agitado. O único ponto negativo é que fica um pouquinho afastado do centro. Dá pra caminhar, o único problema é chegar lá com as mochilas. Pode ser cansativo para alguns por se tratar de uma localização íngreme. Mas se você se garante, supr vale a pena!
