J.Review for restaurant only, didn't stay.
Food I'd score 2 stars, very average, and 2/3meals small portion for the price. Small menu, and several items not available or not available as on menu (including blackboard menu, seriously just rub it off! lol) Bread&Butter pudding dry and well past its best.
Service however was impeccable, 5 stars. Our server knew the menu (and changes), and the drinks. Was pleasant, friendly, chatty but not intrusive.
B.Paekakariki's secret. More than a pub, it's a great place for lunch and a cleansing beverage. Some nice NZ craft beers on tap and a good selection of wines.
M.Great food, lovely spot.
Have to say though, having only one waitress serving, taking orders, running the bar, running the bottle shop, taking orders to the hotel is a bit absurd. We truly felt sorry for her as she was totally run off her feet.
Hopefully this can be sorted out.

J.Jan2021: Seafood on a menu, I have to give it a go. Creamy and tasty, slightly too salty for me though. A good quota of mussels, some slightly too small. Bread was toasted, I would have liked a fresh cut no toast. Still enjoyable.
Couldn't go past the Sticky Date pud. So glad I shared. Enough for 2 💜💚 it was Devine. I wanted more sauce for the pud... I am a saucy gal. It is actually sufficient for the plate.

Water cold. Gin, just enough ice.
Nice outdoor area to sit in the sun or under shade.. 2min walk to the train.
S.Great atmosphere this time round. Happy Fun Vibe!. All Great staff!!! Perfectly cooked food. Another surprise as I was leaving ... a great little bottle store! Couldnt go past a Bottle of Single malt whiskey. Thank you Finns, Im bringing my team back next time!!!
G.Stopped in and had the main course of Ribs. Very nice and meat was tender and tasty. Some of the best Ribs I have had and I didn't expect to find it in Paekakariki.
B.What a wonderful spot! We found this little gem, as we were driving through on our way south to Wellington, and what a gem it is! The little hip town that this is in is worth taking a look around! We were greater with smiles and offered to make us a snack because we can in so late! The owners and staff were wonderful and helpful about food in the area, and the rooms were clean, and well appointed! Thank you for everything! And breakfast across the street was amazing!! And it was quite:)
G.Best meal I had in any Restaurant in NZ so far. Well balanced on meats, sides and veggies. Lovely decorated. Super friendly staff. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely go eat here on a regular basis.

J.Finns restaurant, the food is absolutely divine - the chef superb accommodating for gluten free. The restaurant staff are always helpful and keen to accommodate. Perfect half way client meeting point for between Wellington and up the line.

H.Welcoming motel with large, modern and comfortable rooms. This place exceeded our expectations on all fronts. A good bar and restaurant on site with a varied menu; everything was well cooked and tasty. Handy for Paekakariki station.
D.We booked a table for Saturday evening and were glad we did, as this restaurant is very popular. The menu has a wide selection, including the standard menu and a blackboard menu. We each had different mains, all attractively-presented and delicious. Despite it being busy, we received excellent service. It's a good place if you're hungry as the portion sizes are generous. We'll definitely be returning.

K.What a fabulous place. Best friendliest owners ever. So helpful and funny too. Room was super clean, very roomy with an fabulously comfy bed. Spa bath tops it off. With some wee choccies, bikkies complementary wit tea and coffee. So close to the beach for a walk. Deli, Grocer and Fruit and Veggies shops across street. We had dinner in the restaurant, fish was sublime, lots of veggies and a lovely caper lemon sauce. You've got to eat here!!

The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Very quiet also. When we arrived there were bubbles and flowers on the bed which my partner had arranged and they happily accommodated.
The staff and owners are absolutely lovely and the service was excellent. Thank you Finns for making my 40th a special night.
If you book your accommodation here you won't be disappointed. And the spa bath is an added bonus!

B.The rooms are large. The young man, Toby who checked us in was very nice and helpful. The mini ac unit on the wall shouldn’t count as ac as it didn’t really put out any cool air and made a lot of noise. There was a fan in the room we used but so much noise from the hwy that we had to keep windows shut. Mosquitoes in room.

R.The big breakfast was HUGE and delicious, the mushroom on toast was probably closer to a stroganoff or a creamy mushroom stew, but they were just so yummy. Also I think you probably need to be able to dislocate your jaw to eat the bacon sandwich in one go, so definitely needs to be cut into more manageable pieces. Personally I think all of those are very positive comments! We will be back to sample the lunch and dinner menus.

Tonight I was blown away , on Mondaysthey do not offer food however they were planning a family dinner and put one up for me brought it to my room with a glass of wine and fruit ... service with a smile !

l.For my brothers wedding what a place you have to go there Finn's awesome the rooms are wonderful I had one facing the street it's 10 minutes to the beach I'm a slow Walker so less than that there was a market day when I stayed one place I would really like to go back and stay oh yes breakfast was great and the owners lovely couple

Highly highly recommend Finn's, esp as a vego, the veggie food, my friends had the fish n chips and thought it was excellent and cooked to perfection too...oh and desserts!!...

R.I stayed here last year, arriving very late but being greeted by the manager who also arranged food for me considering the kitchen was closed. I had a very spacious room, clean and well serviced. The staff were very nice and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Am looking forward to staying this year.
H.Paekakariki has the most amazing restaurant called Finns and I mean an amazing restaurant we enjoyed the meal so much we went back the next night with another person to prove it honestly the meals were more then delicious the service was the best and the restaurant was so cosey so go see for yourself wonderful people the service was the best
M.Have had a couple of unpleasant experiences lunching on the Coast recently, so approached Finn's with caution. No worries. Friendly staff, good choices from the menu, and the food was lovely. My husband lifted his head from his mussels in garlic, cream and wine sauce long enough to say "bloody marvellous", while I was happily surprised to receive scallops with the coral attached, instead of the usual little offerings. Nice glass of Spy Valley sav, and coffee for a reasonable $60 means we'll be back. Air conditioning was also appreciated.

B.Always nice to come out to Finns Bar at Paekak. Mine hosts Kevin and Nancy are great and run a tight ship. And Barlady Catherine is spot on too. Seafood Chowder is to die for. Come out and see for yourselves.
