R.Very welcoming and accommodating owners who are super easy-going and approachable. Really big lounging and dining area which was great for our big group to hang out together. A nice outdoor area, really nicely kept with plenty of room to chill out with friends. Nice and comfortable sleeping set up, meets all your needs and more. I highly recommend staying at the Pickled Parrot.
R.The BEST hostel I have ever stayed in! Once you come, you'll never want to leave. A peaceful slice of heaven. The owner, Cherry, literally saved my life. She's a real life angel... just such a kind, real, empathetic human who genuinely cares about people. She and her partner, Jay, are just lovely. They do all they can to make sure you're comfortable and have what you need. They really put their all into this place, and it shows. Every little detail is looked after with care. Great vibes, immaculately maintained, ample facilities, and just a serene atmosphere. Lots of gardens on the property with hammocks and chill spots all around. Fantastic location just minutes from central Paihia, a 5-minute walk to the beach, shops, etc. There's even a friendly hostel kitty, Bella! And you can help yourself to the fresh veggie garden too. I am totally in love with this place. I could literally write a novel about how awesome it is.

Facilities are clean and well maintained. Cute vegetable garden and great outdoor dining area. Showers and toilets are just like home (not the typical backpacker style). They have to be the friendliest hosts we've met. Thabknyou.
L.The Pickled Parrot is by far the nicest hostel I've stayed in! The place is so beautiful with a lot of places to relax and to calm down. It's really near to the beach and to the other hostels, but it's calmer there than in the other hostels. The kitchen was really nice and the bathrooms too, everything was well equipped and clean!
I can really recommend this place to everyone who doesn't want to stay in one of the 'Party-hostels'.
F.I stayed three nights here and had a wonderful experience! I think this is the best hostel I ever stayed in! So clean and tidy and chilled out at the same time, no party hostel as there’s quiet time from 10pm on :) The kitchen has everything you need, there’s even coffee/tea and milk for free. The lady who owns the place is super nice, always there if you have questions but never too obtruding.
She let me camp in the garden for cheap and even offered her verandah to dry out my stuff after a rainy night. Oh and she provided a safe storage for my bike - thanks so much!

a.Lovely place and warm atmosphere with a convenient 2min walk to the beach. Great idea with named baskets in fridge and dry foods. Our hostess was charming, friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

K.I very much enjoyed this Hostel. My Girlfriend and myself had a tent so we slept on the lawn just outside the main hang out area. Basically just set up where there is room.
This is a first come, first served Hostel so be prepared if space fills up.
We had a great time here. The people who were also staying here were awesome and we had a GREAT time. We went to the beach and partied all night.
One thing to consider is they do have a curfew so no noise past 9pm or 10pm, can't remember. We were there on a Saturday night so we all were told to go elsewhere which is totally understandable.
Overall a GREAT place to stay. I would definitely stay again if I had the chance.

Friendly staff and meet some cool people. I highly recommend staying at this hostel and i would be back myself when I'm in Piahia next.
P.Stayed here for a few nights and the stay was lovely! The room was tidy and clean and the bathrooms were too. There's plenty of spots for relaxing here too with a deck, lounge, outdoor seating and a few hammocks! I'll be staying here again the next time I'm in town.

The place is just paradise. Hot showers, comfy living room, beautiful garden with all the veg that u can use for cooking. Hamac to sit and chill, little chairs and tables with umbrellas. Quiet spot, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and as a TA hiker, i appreciate all the free stuff that you could refill, use or eat. When I was injured you took care of me, you are just wonderful. I am coming back and going to prepare vegetarian dinner for you that I owe you!

H.Owner is very friendly. Kitchen is a good size and is well equipped and very clean. Rooms are clean and comfortable. It has to be quiet time after 10pm which is perfect for a good nights sleep. Outdoor space is inviting all in all a brilliant place to stay!!

J.One of the best hostels i've ever visited. Coming in the winter season it was very quiet, but the amazing staff and charm of the place still made my experience fantastic. Free breakfast, bike hire and fishing rods was definitely a bonus!
R.We had been over to pickled parrot for my husband's birthday..we had a fantastic stay.. the hotel was clean the first night was a little crowded but the second one was calm. They also allow tent camping. The breakfast also has some options to look for.. all in all was a lovely stay

The group of people were so friendly and I just got the vibe this is the kinda crowd that's always attracted to the Pickled Parrot.
K.Great spot to stay in Paihia. The staff takes good care of everything and the rooms are nice and cosy (at least those triangular shaped huts on top). The Wi-Fi is limited to the kitchen and the community room. After 10 p.m. It's a quiet hostel which makes it very pleasant to stay because you can sleep well. Breakfast is nothing special but yummi.

P.(Translated) The interior areas are clean, many cobwebs outside. There are two laundry areas, a kitchen and a lounge. A barbecue is available for general use. A bit off the center, which makes it fairly quiet. The night's sleep from 10 guarantees a restful sleep. The dorms each contain 3 bunk beds and were pleasantly warm despite the cold weather. The price includes a very simple breakfast (toast with jam and cereal).

Etwas abseits des Zentrums gelegen, wodurch es ziemlich ruhig ist. Die Nachtruhe ab 10 garantiert einen erholsamen Schlaf.
