A.Check in was easy. The place was very pleasant and conveniently located. Our small fridge inside our room didn’t work and the shower drained slowly but I can’t ask for much because I paid so little to be at this cute place. They have a nice grill, a small garden that you can help yourself to. The comunal areas were spacious with everything you need in the kitchen. The bedrooms room were clean. The gentleman that runs the place was helpful and nice. I would stay here again. He had bikes that you can borrow. The property was surrounded with grapes. I enjoyed my stay. Free WiFi. Great views of the ocean and the mountains. The shower was nice and strong as well. I am told the fridge was a user error - that there was a special switch for it. I asked for a late checkout. Ben was so courteous and allowed us to checkout at noon. Sweet!!!!!
The location is close to the beach, the wharf, parks, markets, shops, restaurants, everything you need to make your visit exciting.
D.Clean, large double room but the double bed was actually two mattresses put together which was not very comfortable as you can feel where they join.
Had a late check in, and had not problem.
They advertise as being part of a group of hostel around nz and you supposed to get a 10% voucher to stay in any of the others but when asked reception upon checkout they did not nothing bout it, lack of communication
J.Pretty good overall. Pros: hot showers with lots of pressure, mostly clean, good luggage storage, car parking, good location. Cons: expensive for what you get, bathrooms flood, need more shelves and power sockets.
E.Very nice place to stay in Paihia. Spacious rooms and comfy beds. The bathrooms are big and offer a lot of space as well. The showers are hot but could use a little more pressure. After hour check-in was possible and the key was left in an outdoor safe for us.
F.This is a great budget friendly hotel. The reception manager was very kind, generous and knowledgeable. 8 I definitely recommend this place!
- Rooms: Were nearly cleaned by hardworking friendly staff. Bed was comfortable. Nice comfy carpets.
- Kitchen: Was well equipped for cooking anything, and they also had tea pots and coffee gadget (the Moka Express was mistreated...someone put milk the water compartment and it wasn't cleaned for a while...that is just wrong). Besides that, well maintained fridges and many dry food storage compartments. A LOT of sitting places, whole bunch of nice tables on a big terraces on each floor.
- Bathroom/toilets: Clean, simple and private (each room had an in-room private toilet and shower)
- Location: Great. 2 min walk to main beach and city center. Go try the El Café restaurant next door!
L.I'm loving Saltwater Lodge! Great location 3 blocks from shopping area so quiet, but on a street with several cafes and restaurants, and quick Mart. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable, showers are great. It is nice to have the communal kitchen and laundry facilities. It is 1/2 a block to the beach and swimming! Nice staff.
S.I stayed in this place during my Northland trip. My bed was comfortable, room was clean and so was the bathroom. Room service was fine everyday. I must say Ben and Nachiket were good hosts and had some great customer service skills. There are few restaurants and bar also next door. Would highly recommend this place! Cheers
r.One of mine favorite hostel. Room and bathrooms always tidy and perfect. Rooms minimalist but with not so many beds each and enoght storage. Huge common area with clean and usefull kitchen and comfortable sofa. Staff friendly and helpful.
T.Good sized room with an ensuite. 4 people bunk beds in a room. It was very nice to have your own shower and bathroom. Good kitchen if a little small and a nice balcony area to socialize. The games room was locked and the WiFi was poor. Also reception closed early. Right next to some good bars/cafe/pubs including a poolhall that was free from 5pm til 7
T.I liked it. Cheap and right in the middle of 2 pubs. We had the room furthest from the bars so could not hear much of the noise. Bed was comfortable. Shower was fast and full. Not too far from the Main shops... within walking distance and i dont usually walk lol.
Would come back here.
A.Rooms were very tidy when we first arrived, facilities provided were better than what I had expected. Service was good, rooms were kept tidy by staff. Location of the lodge was also very convenient, and also near the beach.
M.It was okay but not as good as Haka Lodge Paihia claimed it to be. It was very cold in the living room and the hot water for showering lasted so long that I couldn't wait for that so I don't know if there was any. Bed curtains and power point could have made it better. It is a bit outdated.

S.Great place to stay in Paihia. Right down the street from the beach and only about a 5 minute walk to the wharf. It's a very lovely place so it gets a little noisy at night, but the staff and amenities are great.
N.Its Awesome place. Big clean rooms. Great kitchen facilties. Staff members are really helpfull. Closest to the beach. Got a good deal for what i paid.

k.Very nice place to stay very clean and very Central to the closest food place it is very nice and the customer service is very good they gave me whatever I asked and the mates day was wonderful the bed is really big so you can have a really good night sleep you also have coffee and it drinks available and you don't have to pay for it you can also buy readily available stuff at saltwater Lodge
S.Comfortable stay and clean beds. Friendly staff with promt service. They can help you get deals on activities around Paihia if you book through them.
R.Cheap dorm bed. Location 10min walk to main Street. Clean room. Bathroom is inside dorm. No hairdryer. Laundry services costs extra. Had mosquito fly into room because no net on windows.
