I have been to this lodge a couple of times,and met the lovely lady that owns the lodge,she was absolutely wonderful,kind and caring.plus the view is absolutely beautiful.

I stayed for a length of time as I and my son felt so welcome here the environment is warm and friendly and family friendly. The place was always very clean and tidy. The staff and owners are welcoming and friendly as well as very helpful. I will be back again and again I absolutely loved this place and fully recommend it

I used to work here so maybe I‘m biased but this is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in my one year New Zealand trip. The sunsets are incredibly beautiful, the beach is right in front of the Hostel. Danny (the owner) is super nice and kind, the rooms and bathrooms are clean. Love it!

I loved our stay at Moana Lodge. It is a very clean place and with the homely atmosphere. The owner allowed us to check in after 10 pm and was accommodating with leaving the keys for us at the reception. The amazing electric blanket in the rooms. I loved the place and wish I could stay longer than 1 night

Stayed one night very clean facilities and Management polite and courteous. Couple longstay residents are friendly and unlimited wifi vouchers which is handy. A bit to pricey in Winter for a Room on your own I paid $90 for a Double bed and shared Facilities I think if you are a Backpacker or Single Traveller I would recommend this place but for the price I paid I think I will pay same amount for a motel room with own w/c etc. All in all a short walk to a picturesque beach and walks along the foreshore very beautiful spot with cafes just up the road.

Really lovely place that feels more like a house than a hostel. The owner is really friendly and the rooms are nice. A bit pricey but it's worth it if you have a car and don't want to park in Wellington.

I was a little surprised to find out this was a backpackers. However, this gem of a place was enchanting. We were spoiled having a room overlooking the bay, but the establishment was so well managed and cared for that the complete visit was a delight. I loved the finishing touches such as the tiles above the hand basins echoing the view across the bay. The kitchen was spotless and had everything necessary to create first class meals should you wish. Thank you so much guys. Keep up the good work!

Moana Lodge is easily in the top 3 places I've stayed yet. It's likely first on that short list too. The view from my room out over the shore is great and with it being the end of the off season they upgraded me to a private room. There was another discount on top of that that was substantial due to the walk I'm on. The facilities are clean and really good. Full kitchen, huge fridge & freezer. Good sized dinning area and a public lounge that is better than most of the flats I've lived in. John and Helen are easy to talk to and seem quite friendly. John also used to be a member of the local Alpine Club and knows a lot about the tramping in the area.

Cheap, comfy nice lounge area big kitchen! Loads of space to keep your own food. Nice relaxing are. Wasnt many people when i stayed which was a shame but still a great place to stay! Danny the owner is bril

Very cosy backpackers out of the city in Wellington/Porirua. They call themselves a 5 star backpacker and deserve the title. Well stocked kitchen with everything you need and more, including free tea and coffee. Very clean and tidy, and the dining room and lounge are presented well. Nice views from the lounge and our room overlooking the bay. Owner is very helpful and happy to have a chat! 5 stars as a backpackers

There was a sign asking to remove shoes but the place was pretty dirty. Also the bed was not very comfortable. However, the lodge is located just in front of the beach and the view is fantastic.

I slept 4 nights in this hostel. Very friendly team, and a very beautiful location ! I regret the 200Mb tickets for internet. Ok it's free, but unpleasant to ask an other ticket every time. And the matress was ok, but a little bit old. I recommand this hostel !

Awesome view, clean & quiet but mis-advertised as a 5 star hotel. This is a backpackers and it should be made clear in the advertisements - misrepresentation is unethical, especially if you are making money off it.

Great place to stay for a family. We really enjoyed it. Nice staff and excellent spot on the beach! Free wifi too!

Unfortunately, the dormitory does not have lockers, and I had my camera and other things stolen while I was taking a shower. Malheureusement, le dortoir ne dispose pas de casiers, et je me suis fait voler mon appareil photo et d'autres affaires le temps de prendre une douche.

(Translated) Great (luxury) backpackers hostel. Rooms are clean and the owner is very friendly. The kitchen is great for your breakfast or dinner. The atmosphere is not overly cozy, perhaps this is also due to the cold wind. Wellington can be easily reached by train or car. So a great (budget) choice! (Original) Prima (luxe) backpackers-hostel. Kamers zijn schoon en de eigenaar is erg vriendelijk. De keuken is prima voor je ontbijt of avondeten. De sfeer is niet overdreven gezellig, wellicht komt dit ook door de koude wind. Met de trein of auto is Wellington makkelijk te bereiken. Dus een prima (budget)keuze!
