Homey vibes in the common area, clean rooms, not too crowded, all the facilities I need and a jacuzzi, great!

Was not busy so it was lovely time to stay! Good location with backyard parking and clean. I like this old style building. Friendly staff. Its not the cheapest hostel in QT at that moment (some others even with better conditions ) so idk why here they ask guests to bring sheet and cases after to reception...

Great value for Queenstown! Cute place with all the amenities I needed, good shower pressure and fun decor. They do well to fit a lot into a small space.

Actually fairly decent accommodation, but it really depends on who happens to be here at the same time. We were fortunate to have quiet neighbours but the common room was always full of this one group of mean guests. Pretty good kitchen and the beds are comfy, 4 stars.

Highly recommend the 3 person room. Got a kitchen, living area, shower and toilet to share between 4 people! On the pricier side but definitely worth it for a more homely feel and a good nights sleep! Staff clean the place up regularly and overall is one of my better stays. Thanks southern laughters!

Pros: great location, large hostel, very friendly laid back staff, nice vibe and decor. Room was nice and warm with the heater. There is a spa pool but I didn’t see anyone use it. They offer off street parking, which is rare in queenstown so definitely a huge plus. Please note I’ve included a warning about the parking below. Cons: WiFi was a disaster, very slow and cut in and out dozens and dozens of times. Walls are paper thin and the bunk beds are more shaky than other hostels I’ve stayed at. On my last day I walked in on the cleaning lady and she didn’t bring any linens in or out of the room so I don’t see how she possibly could have changed them, that really confused me. Plus, the floors, couch (especially) and surfaces of the room didn’t seem clean. A note on parking: the lot is quite small and there are not enough spots for everyone in the hostel. If you want to guarantee yourself a spot, you must come in the morning as people leave. After lunch, spots fill up quickly and they’re all taken by mid to late afternoon. Another warning - the lot is GNARLY. Very very small and tight. To top it off, people squeeze in any little hole, which sometimes makes it impossible to get in or out. If you’re driving a big car or you’re not the best at parking, it may stress you out.

This hostel is what you would expect from a hostel. It's unpretentious and provides the essentials. I was surprised when I found that the mixed 4 person room I stayed in had a couch and kitchenette. This was a bit of a perk, as I've never stayed in a hostel that has had that for a dorm room. The biggest downside was parking. The hostel has a few spaces down a steep drive. These quickly fill and wouldn't suit a vehicle that is larger than compact. Street parking is a nightmare in most parts of Queenstown, and the street this hostel is on is no different. Besides that, the upstairs kitchen was a bit cluttered. It also would have been nice to have outlets by the beds in my room. Overall, this hostel gives you a decent place to sleep for a decent price.

Clean rooms and facilities. The staff are very friendly and they have unlimited free wifi. The view from our room was fantastic too. It's a short walk to everything in town so you definitely don't need a car while you're staying here but there is plenty of parking if you have one. To top it all of its very affordable. This was my first time staying at a backpackers and I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be staying again next time im in Queenstown.

Such a great surprise of a place. We had no idea but there was a) free soup for dinner and b) a hot tub!!! Fantastic location. The ONLY downside for my light-sleeping friends was that, despite quiet hours starting at 10 pm at this backpackers, the place across the way was a bit rowdy until late in the night (early morning). I am lucky enough to be a heavy sleeper and so I still give this place five stars.

Great budget accomodation! Spa was working great, communal cooking facilities. We had a group of 4 singles and 2 couples. We ended up with our own section which suited us perfectly. Great laundry facilities and atmosphere. Perfect for a budget holiday!

Overall a great little hostel, good price, the free soup everyday is really nice, the internet could be better but it's free so no complaints really. Staff are really handy and relaxed. The rooms are a little dated but again for the price no complaints.

Friendly staff and laid back hostel. Beds are too soft, not the most comfortable and definitely need replacement. However I would recommend to stay. If you are lucky, you can park your car on the premises for free. The girl at the reception was super friendly and we were allowed to stick around and charge our phone to find accomodation since they were fully booked. The kitchen was as clean as you get in a hostel and they provided ebt and sugar. Big TV in the common room and heaps of older dvds to choose from. Outside area to sit and enjoy a drink. Edit : Forgot to mention the location is super convenient and heaps of shops, bars & cafes are in walking distance !

The best point about this is its location: you the access to all touristic sites in Queenstown within 15 minutes walking. The beds are ok, one bathroom and shower per 8 people and nice hosts. And it's quiet!

Kind staff and competent management. Good room for the price. I would love to see an update to the buildings. Even an improvement on the siding and color of the building would be a big improvement. We frequented Bespoke Kitchen just across the road. I liked the vibe here as it was away from the main street in Queenstown.

hostel is good. Room is fine for 4 adults. the wifi is pointless, virtually non existent, unless your the only one on it at about 4am! Hot tub is a nice touch, BUT.....it's really really hot! Needs turning down a few degrees!

Friendly atmosphere but not the best facilities. For example, the shower had no real control, just burning hot or cold. The kitchen had quite a few broken stovetops. Free soup was nice to help budget dinners. Wifi was spotty and generally only worked when using Facebook applications. Beds were clean and comfy enough.

Far from being the best hostel I've stayed at. It's just ok, but it's a bit expensive for what they offer. The best thing is that it's just 3 blocks away from the city center and the gondola of the skyline. It's bit noisy, not so clean and very tiny. I would not recommend it except for the excellent location.

Hot tub and friendly atmosphere. Only 2 stories so feels more comfortable than the skyscraper backpackers that are in the centre and it's very close to restaurants/bars/shops etc.

The 8-bed dorms are spacious and are equipped with a small kitchen. The free WiFi only works in the morning, the rest of the day it's basically unusable. In addition to that the lounge and kitchen are dirty. The tables in the kitchen have a layer of dust on them even though the rest of the kitchen is being cleaned.

Really enjoyed staying at this hostel! Compared to other places, this one just has a really inviting atmosphere in general. We'll kept, good amenities - would recommend.

Perfect hostel, large rooms. we had an 8 person room, all with own ski gear and luggage and still had room to move around. spa was always on and people are happy to squeeze in. close to the centre of queenstown as well which makes it easier to get to the bus in a rush, definetly will stay here again next year.

Favourite backpackers for our trip! Rooms clean and cosy, staff are helpful, friendly and very accommodating. 2 minute walk to town but in a quieter street so no noisy foot traffic. 1000% recommend

Perfectly solid hostel, nice staff, but the room we had was a bit musty and the bathroom light was more like a strobe light. Really comfy beds though and epic views when you wake up.

It's ok. No bunk beds in my room so it was good. Lacking spots to plug your phone charger, just 2 for a 5-people bedroom. They give you free soup. Clean enough. Close to everything.

Not too bad. Close to the centre, and not bad to socialize in. But if you're there to relax between hikes, then this might not be the place for you. The showers flood easily, and the rooms are small and stuffy, especially when you have lots of gear.

A nice place to stay when visiting Queenstown. Just a walking distance for food or just getting around the beautiful town. The room is quite small for two but worth the price you pay.

Its an ok place to stay for a couple nights i didnt like the shared little kitchen with 2 dorms the hobs didnt work but having a fridge is good. One toilet between 2 dorms im not keen on either felt run down but if you just need a place to stay like me then it will suffice. Wifi wasnt working

Great location and friendly staff. Only downside was that the heaters ate centrally managed, so you can't set the temperature of your room. The heaters also switch off after a while by themselves, which is a nightmare in winter.

Good price for night stays. The building is quite old though. Bed might be uncomfortable for some, but you can't complain for the price you paid. Strategic location in the town, all the attractions are a few mins walk.

A good hostel with charachter. It's not spotless, but I never expected it to be. The 4 bed dorm I was in shared a small kitchen, bathroom and shower with another 4 bed dorm. It was more like living in a small appartment then staying at a hostel.

A great inexpensive place to stay for several nights. Private rooms are available as well as traditional backpackers bunks. There's a hot tub on site! Helpful and friendly staff.

After staying at three different hostels in Queenstown, I must say that Southern Laughter was the best. Cool people, nice house, warm jacuzzi/spa. All in all a great place to hang out.

Love the stay(double room). The bedroom was clean and kept clean all the times and cosy and the staffs were welcoming. Highly recommended!!!!

Great hostel, best one so far! We had a private room and it shared a bathroom and a kitchen with only another private room. Very convenient.

It's a party hostel. It contains a great hot jacuzzi and the service is good. It's small but it's a friendly place. The decoration is original

Great hostel! Good place to start hikes from and to chill out in the free jacuzzi after a hike!

It was a bit expensive for the accommodations, but it was still a nice place. It is right downtown which is nice because you can walk to everything.
