I love this hostel! Second time visiting and it is just as awesome. It's so close to town, walking distance to all the good stuff and bus routes to the airport. The pods are super comfortable and private. The curtains block the light so well I was able to enjoy sleeping in. It's so cosy I wish my own bed was like this 🤣 Bathrooms are nice and clean. You also get some cool discounts at local places on your room key. The staff are great as well, I had a late flight and they let me store my bags and hang out in the common area after checkout to keep out of the cold. The single dorm beds are bunks, so probably best to check in early if you want to nab a bottom bunk! Thanks for the awesome stay, I always recommend this place and will be back.

We stayed for the week and had a blast! Probably the comfiest hostel bed I've ever slept in! Everyone is so nice and helpful. The kitchen is huge and the hostel is amazingly clean! Would 100% recommend if you're looking for a great place to stay in Queenstown. Plus very affordable!

We had a great time at the tahuna pod hostel, it is in a great location walkable from central queenstown, the pods were great and all of the facilities were clean. Our room was a 4 side entry pod room which our group filled however i don't think there would be a problem with sharing with other people as the pods are very private compared to a typical hostel bunk. We had no problem getting one of the free parks but it didn't seem like it was very full at the hostel. It worked great for us though. The soup and waffles mentioned on the website weren't there that we saw maybe due to covid, but there are many food places around with many delicious and some cheap options. The free ice bar entry was great though because it made it the same price as going to a normal bar for drinks but you get an awesome and different experience. Overall a very tidy hostel and friendly atmosphere. I would definitely stay again, thanks!!

The price is at the lower end but the facility is top notch. It's always so clean here and the customer service is excellent. Bed is very spacious ( 120cm×200cm ish). It has curtain, a shelf on top of the bed to put your stuff, light and plugs at Ur own bed, a big cabinet to leave Ur luggage and stuffs and the bed quality is excellent. I have always had such good sleep here. Everyone here, from staffs to guests, are so friendly and especially Emily. I lost my key somewhere in the trash bin by accident and Emily went out of her way to look through different bins with me to find it and she found it!! She definitely needs a reward for that.

Clean, comfortable, and well-resourced backpackers a 2 min walk from town! Super friendly staff on hand, alongside a clean kitchen and comfy lounge. Found it to be the perfect place to stay on a solo trip and felt very safe. The beds were very comfortable and pods well designed.

Very happy with my stay here, well managed and clean. Easy check in. Beds are comfortable and have a curtain for privacy. Spacious kitchen and decent bathrooms too. We stayed three nights. Reasonable price for the product I think.

Very nice hostel, right prices for the quality, good location and really clean. Team and guests are friendly, the beds are really comfortable and i like pods concept ! Just i missed some spaces to put my stuff. Free coffee/tea and bath towel

Love the concept of the pods. They were sufficiently spacious and the beds were super comfy. The curtain was great at keeping the light out of our pod and the convenience of having usb plugs was great. Only one minor downside was that the pods can get quite hot and stuffy. But otherwise was a pleasant stay. Very convenient location with free parking.

Despite the comfy mattress and the blackout curtains, I have barely slept. I could hear water running through the pipes above our pod all night and the circulation is very bad, which made it very hot and humid in our pod and the room. The bathrooms and toilets were clean but very small, I really missed some space (a shelf whatsoever) to put my stuff on, instead of the floor. We noticed many long term guests in this hostel, which probably causes the small parking area to be full all the time.

Pods instead of bunks is the perfect design for a hostel. Surprised it isn't more common. Price was super cheap too. Highly recommended.

Great stay in tahuna lodge as always. Lovely staff, really clean hostel with great facilities and really comfortable bed. So close to everything in queenstown and some free parking spaces available are a real bonus , will definitely be staying again!

Really good place to stay for a few nights. Pods are cozy, people staying were super friendly. Can be a bit noisy and pods are paper thin, so I could hear the guy below me snoring really loud. Earbuds sorted that though. Parking is terrible, would have been nice to be able to pay extra and book a spot.

Very nice place with a welcoming staff. It is a good concept the pods with ample storage option and a separate locker for each person. Definitely suited a group of 4 friends for 6 nights. Amenities are nice like free towel. Kitchen and lounge super tidy and stocked. Highly recommend!

One of the best hostels I stayed in NZ. Clean, doesn't look dated and mostly very good vibe! Friendly staff, Alberto is great! I like the pod idea, where you have some sort of privacy and definitely more comfortable than regular bunk beds. Centrally located, there is bikes to use for free, parking, couch, board games and more. Very cool.

Absolutely the BEST hostel in town!! We stayed at Tahuna Pod Hostel for almost three weeks and loved the place as if it were our home. As we were looking for long-term apartments to spend 3/4 months in Queenstown we kept comparing the quality and comfort of the hostel and honestly, the other guests, the team and the facilities are at such high standards that we really struggled to find a match! You can really feel that both staff and guests care about the hostel and each other, and that made it the hardest part to leave... never stayed at such a clean and comfortable place. Highly recommend!

Absolutely my favourite place to stay in Queenstown! The pods are so so so much better than a regular hostel, friendly staff and clean and tidy spaces.

Pods are good size and comfortable mattresses, plenty of power sockets and showers good condition. The communal area is pretty good too, staff are nice and it's a good location too. Unfortunately it loses 2 stars for the noise. It's a hostel, so we're used to hearing people in the common areas etc but we stayed 3 nights and every night at 11pm somebody began to vacuum the hall and I believe common area's. Went on for around 30 minutes each nights and really echoed through our dorm! For us, we like to sleep around half 10 so this kept us up and stopped us sleeping a lot. For people who go to bed later I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue

Nice place but really really really hot inside the pods in summer. Booked for 3 nights but spent the last two in my van. I guess its better in winter cause the beds are really good ! Also yesterday vacuum cleaning at 11pm was a bit odd, i would have been annoyed if i had some plans and was leaving early next morning. Showers, toilets are good and clean. Very very limited parking like less than 15 spots. Overall i recommend this place, i enjoyed my stay.

Tahuna Pod Hostel is a very clean, cozy backpackers right by downtown Queenstown. The lounge has lots of tables and games, movies with a big screen tv, and a gorgeous balcony. The kitchen has tons of prep and cooking space. The private double room was ultra comfortable, with a heater, a tv with Netflix, a full length mirror, hangers, and a bed I wanted to melt into. The bathrooms were close by and very clean. The only thing that spoiled our visit is that the people staying did not adhere to the dry hostel after 10pm policy. They partied in the lounge, which was just under our room and we could hear them until the wee hours of the morning, even through earplugs and with the tv on to try to drown them out. So, if you're someone who'd be out partying, this is a great place and I'd totally recommend it, but if you're wanting an early night, maybe look elsewhere.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, pods provide great privacy and blackout curtains made for the best sleep I've ever had in a hostel. Showers had great water pressure, also the best shower I've had in a hostel. There are heaps of Māori art pieces and info which also gave the hostel a lot of Aotearoa personality. Really nice architecture also gave the place a more personalized feel.

I find it relaxing and placed well in town. Nice staff member. Helpful. Wonderful size kitchen lounge.

Definitely one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever been in, stayed two weeks in the “penthouse” room which was not only huge and had a great view but also very affordable. Kitchen is both very clean and great quality pots/pans

This is an excellent to stay in. I have been staying here long term for a couple months and I have thoroughly enjoyed it Everything is always kept clean and tidy, and the staff are absolutely amazing and super helpful. It has such a nice friendly and social atmosphere, and the views from the deck are amazing

Very clean hostel. The staff here keep cleaning every morning and night and made the kitchen clean and tidy, highly recommend to stay here. It's located in the central, therefore make u very convinence.

A hostel with a great location and very private bedding. Very convenient to get into town. The capsule was very private for a hostel. However, this place has practically no air conditioning in the rooms so was extremely stuffy on a hot night and forget about finding a park near this place when an event is on in town. Overall not bad for the price and location

We stayed in a private room with my partner. The room was super clean and tidy. The hostel itself has a nice style. Everything was new. The room had a heater. Worked perfectly for us. Toilets and bathrooms were clean. Cannot blame the hostel for other guests’ inappropriate use. The staff was friendly. It is in a central location but has limited free-parking area. We parked at Wilson which is 2 minutes’ walk from the hostel. We paid NZD14 for 24 hours’ parking.

Stayed here last year July 2019 - I enjoyed my stay. During my time it wasn't super social, but it's in a quieter area compared to the downtown hostels and is just a quick 5 minute walk to everywhere. Staff were helpful and everyone in the hostel was respectful.

An excellent place that never made me think I am away from home. Toilets and shower were clean and rooms were fresh smelling unlike so e other hostels in Queenstown. I love the lounge area where we gathered for board gamnes and have drinks. The kitchen was equipped more than sufficient and was clean every morning just like I do at home:) In short Tahuna is our wharenui, a home away from home.

The reception which name is Alberto, he helped me to solve lot of problems and really glad that the customer service is satisfied. Enjoy this staying!

We have an amazing time staying in Tahuna pod hostel with my friends. Anita is very pro-active and accomodating with my request and the other lady (sorry forgot the name) is amazing maintaining all rooms and facilities are clean and tidy. I would highly recommend Tahuna Hostel to my friends and tramping communities. I will definitely be coming back to stay in this hostel again with my friends and family.

I've stayed here a number of times now - in both private rooms and single pods - and it's always an excellent place to stay. Very close to town, good facilities and the rooms/pods are comfortable and private. Would definitely recommend over a bunk in a dorm elsewhere.

We had an amazing experience during our stay in this place. The place was tidy and we could change our towels everyday. What I loved the most is there's a curtain in my bed, and lights on the head rest.

We stayed here at two occasions and on both time we didn't get any sleep. The top bunks we were staying in was right under a water pipe and all night long we could hear water running straight above our head. The other downside is the people staying there, if you want a great night of sleep and are not a "party" person this is not the place for you, you will get waken up by people coming back from the bars all throughout the night. It's unfortunate because the facilities and the easy parking are really enjoyable and the staff is really friendly.

We stayed here for two nights and ended up extending our stay for another night as we didn’t want to leave! The mattresses are super comfy, the lockers are big and the room never felt crowded. They ended up giving us a complimentary upgrade to a private room for the last night and we both had a solid ten hour sleep. The waffles, soup and free popcorn were a great addition as well. Location is absolutely perfect, staff was amazing and would 100% stay here again.

Very nice and clean hostel. We staid a night in the dorm room, in our own "pod" which brings you some privacy. Right by the center, the view from the balcony is very nice too!

We loved staying at Tahuna Pods, the rates are affordable and your right in town. It’s really hard finding accommodation this close into town that offers free parking. The pod (double) was comfy and clean and the female staff memeber that checked us in was politeand professional, she answered any questions we had. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit QT and it is such a steal for the price and service. (booked through Bookings.com)

This hostel is top notch. Everything is clean and organized. The beds were comfortable and provided plenty of privacy thanks to the pods and the curtains. Love that the beds came with outlets for charging. My room had a bathroom and shower attached, which was so useful. But the hallway bathroom was clean too. The kitchen was clean and well organized. Free breakfast was a plus. Couches were comfortable. No complaints!

Small hostel, with an interesting sleeping situation. Each of the beds are self contained areas which adds some extra privacy to your standard hostel. Also feels a bit weird waking up in a box basically but overall the added privacy is worth it. Small kitchen area, dining room are a good place to talk and meet with people. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained as well. Staff is also super nice and friendly!

I think this is the best hostel I've stayed at. The staff were so calm and patient and friendly, the facilities and rooms were comfortable and modern and they won my heart with complimentary food. Fast WiFi, clean bathrooms, huge lockers and a car space too! What a generous place! Hope I'll one day be back!

Great staff, friendly and welcoming. Cleanest hostel I've stayed in, whilst in NZ. Option for a free breakfast (waffles) however they are really hard to get out of the waffle maker so not sure if it's worth the hassle.

Best hostel I’ve ever been to! Pods are big and comfy. Hostel is clean and modern with nice kitchen. Every room have private toilet and you have free breakfast and soup everyday. It’s really good deal for this price.

Great place to stay with a partner! The loft with 4 double pods is huge, has a nice kitchen area (unfortunately no oven/stove though) and a nice balcony. It’s clean, comfortable and the staff is super nice. Lots of stuff is for free too.

My stay at the hostel was pretty good. The room was more spacious than I thought excluding the pods. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, which I liked a lot. Parking is very limited, so keep that in mind. Breakfast is provided, but I did not like the limited and poor selection they had. Overall, I would definetely recommend.

Awesome hostel. The hostel is in a great spot, only a couple minutes walk from the city centre and the waterfront. The hostel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff are super friendly, and there is free soup at night and free breakfast in the mornings. The car parks were also handy for our rental. The only reason for not giving the hostel 5 stars is that the showers were a bit temperamental at times. Would happily stay again any time

Let's start out with the good: the pods concept is great - I was able to sleep and chill my entire stay, interacting with other guests at my own choice. The mattress was good, as was the feather pillow. The pods was pitch black at night and I slept well. It was difficult getting up in the morning. The room was very warm; there will be no issues here in winter. Check in staff were friendly and helpful. Now the not so good: cleanliness. The showers and toilets were worse than some of the student flats I've been in in Dunedin. Admittedly, I did use the facilities on a Sunday evening, but I find it hard to believe that the amount of accumulated grime and hair and piss on the floor got there in just one day. If you stay here, remember to bring your flip flops. Duvet was slightly too short, but again the room was warm and I slept in my clothes. No reason not to be cautious about hygiene after using the showers. I did feel a wee bit uncomfortable during my stay here.

The pods are amazing!! So much privacy for each person, and you get your own locker and ledge space to put your phone, water bottle, glasses, etc.while you sleep. They even have an AC unit in each room so you don't have to open the windows if it's too hot. Showers and bathrooms are nice and the kitchen is clean and we'll supplied. The free breakfast is pretty minimum but it's free so can't complain. The free evening veggie soup is delicious. Overall, the staff treat you very well and the hospitality is great.

Great, clean hostel. The pods provided privacy and with individual charging stations it’s perfect for a relaxing after a hectic day out! Great location, just on the outskirt of the main street so it’s quieter but still close to everything. The rooms don’t feel crammed and large bathrooms. Recommend 👍

Great price for couples and always super clean. The only downside is that it gets way too hot during the night in the rooms, making it impossible to sleep even.

This is the cleanest hostel I have stayed in, the staff are SO friendly, the beds are extremely comfy, and the location couldn't be better! I would recommend this hostel to anyone and I will definitely be coming back!

No seating facilities without kitchen lounge. No place inside the room of six to keep single chair. We can't sit in the bed of our pod also because it is 3.5 ft high. Wheel chair accessibly is not available. But the facilities they are providing is very good according to price. They have sufficient clean bathrooms with bathtub and shower facilities. Lounge with beautiful view and common kitchen facilities are excellent. Breakfast, any time tea or coffee with popcorn and evening soups are free for all. Cooking instruments are also very modern and available sufficient numbers. Position of this property is also nice.

Easy to check in, easy to check out. Held our luggage for the day as we arrived before check in time. Bed was comfy, hostel was super clean. Highly recommend.

Stayed an awesome 3 nights. Clean and comfortable shared space. I enjoyed my pod, stayed in a 4 people shared room, the curtain in your pod provides you privacy. Shared facilities, every morning after 10am; the facilities are cleaned and the bins are emptied. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. The Tahuna provides a simple free breakfast in the morning from 6:30am to 9am and free soup night time from 6pm. They provide you with a towel for showers upon check in. Rooms are equipped with a heat pump so prepare yourself to walk into a warm comfortable room in the evenings. Soap and shampoo it is for you to provide your own. It is well located, about one minute walk to the 4 square food shop and 3 minute walk to the Ferg Burger and bus stop. The Wi-Fi is decent and was fine for me. I recommend this place and will definitely stay there again. AAA+++

We loved this place so much we came back twice! The free towels, soup and free breakfast are definitely a differentiating factor from all the other places we stayed in in South Island. All the facilities are great and the location is pretty good (10min drive from airport and walking distance to the town centre). Highly recommend !

Amazing hostel with all the amenities. Super helpful staff. You get free breakfast in the morning, free soup in the evening and free popcorn all day! Worth the money. Only drawback was that there is no elevator inside the hostel so you have to carry your luggage all the way up.

We had a lovely stay over 8 nights of skiing and enjoying Queenstown. Unfortunately the ensuite bathroom of our 6 person dorm was being renovated, which was inconvenient but we managed with sharing the other facilities. The waffles every morning are great, as are the board games in the common room.

Liked the interior layout of the building. Looks cozy. Clean bathroom and toilet. Comfortable bed. Curtains in each pod gave more privacy. Free breakfast provided but that's just a simple one (bread, cornflakes, instant coffee, etc) nothing special. It's offered only after 7.30 so if you are planning to leave early there's nothing for you. Booked a month ahead and paid $46 only to realise that the price had dropped to $33 if I had booked the same day.

Situated a few minutes away from downtown Queenstown, this remarkable hostel offer everything you need : spacious bedrooms with very confortable bed (the 'pod' style gives you privacy like I never saw before). The staff always welcomes you with a smile and are always willing to help you. Being a small hostel gives you the opportunity to meet people and create a bond. You can easily make friends. On a rainy day, you can stay at the hostel and entertain yourself watching a movie in the loung or play boardgames with your new friends. Pod Tahuna is cheap but only on the prices. The hostel offers the perfect 'pied à terre' to explore and enjoy what Queenstown has to offer.

Wonderful place to stay for the night. Even though is a bunk bed room, you will have full privacy as a curtain is provided for each bed. Free soup provided in evening too.

This was my first stay at the hostel and I was very happy. Staff is absolutely fantastic, very helpful and they go out of their way to help the customers. The hostel is close to everything, their internet is working well, there is a Netflix for those interested, laundry and they provide free breakfast and free soup for diner. It caters for younger generation as well as more mature people who need more peaceful environment. I would gladly stay here again and would highly recomend it!

Pretty nice hostel right in the middle of Queenstown. Great location with lots of restaurants and the beach within easy walking distance. Private, curtained areas for each guest with outlets and lockers to store your belongings. Free WiFi. Free breakfast. Free vegetable soup at night. Towel for showers provided at no cost. I was only there one night, but I rather enjoyed it.

Great location (in the town centre) and excellent value for money. Plenty of facilities are available and it's always well kept. Our room had 4 pods, a kitchen area, a balcony and a TV n couch. The added bonuses are the free popcorn, soup and breakfast as well as the comfortable beds and the high pressure shower heads - I highly recommend this place as a budget friendly accommodation option!

Everything is good. Clean bathroom and good kitchen. They prepared free vegetable soup at 6.30 pm. You can park your vehicle behind the hostel but limited space. If not you can just park along the street. We stay in Private Doulble with shared facilities. Room is small but is ok since we don’t always stay in the room.

The pod hostel is a nice place to stay, which is quite close to the water front, food & market place. My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Queenstown - we really liked this place and the character this place offers. You can literally walk to all the major attractions from here. Parking can become tricky if you plan to check in late. The pod beds were comfy, communal kitchen was well furnished with fridge and storage space & shower/toilets were clean. It's just that the shower rooms and toilets need more hooks to hang our stuffs. The free soup in the evening is good, not so much with the free breakfast provided in the mornings. If possible cook something like eggs to go with the free breakfast.

Great hostel, and friendly staff members.

This hostel has a great location in Queenstown, just step out in the city center, so it is very convenient for those who don't have a car. If you travel with a car, they have a car park free, anyway it depends on your luck. We arrived there about 7pm, the car park was full, we parked on the front Street, that is 120 mins free from 8am - 6pm. They have a large kitchen and dining room equipped with utensils, cutlery, stoves, oven and fridges that you can store your food. The toilet & shower rooms are quite small, and about 10-15 people sharing one, we have to go around the house to look for an available toilet or shower room. The cleanness is good.

Incredible. Clean and tidy, busy but doesn't feel like it. Staff are friendly and helpful, they can book your adventures and offer handy advice about the local area. Includes WiFi and breakfast and soup in a pot for all to enjoy. Beds are so comfortable, my Fitbit told me it's the best night sleep I've had this week. All for only $50 Thanks Tahuna Pod for a great night away from home.

We stayed in a double pod and it's great, 2 plugs and USB sockets, good locker space, great clean facilities, quiet location. There's free breakfast and soup in the evening. Very quiet at night but lots of nice places to socialise in the day. Very close to the main bus stop and snow centre for ski buses.

I don't normally stay in hostel type accommodation, but there wasn't much available in Queenstown at the time of booking. This place has helpful staff and the bed was comfortable and private. If you're stuck for somewhere to stay, you could do far worse than stay here.

I stayed at tuhuna for around 2 months, I originally only planned for a single month but enjoyed it so much I had to extend. I booked the hostel far in advance as the ratings were so high, upon arrival Holleh the manager greeted me with a huge smile and informed me of all the amenities close by and made me feel so welcome. Having the breakfast in the morning was a Godsend when looking to go out for a day of adventuring, in addition to this the super powerful a very hot showers were all the more welcome at the end of a days snowboarding. Rooms/beds were kept incredibly clean by the lovely staff, the kitchen included. You could never expect more from any hostel ever, after years of travelling I would happily put Sir Cedrics at the top of my list. This is influenced by the great atmosphere, location(couldn't be better), Staff and overall package provided. This had been the best 2 months of my life and wouldn't have been anyway near as carefree and enjoyable had it's not been for the great Tahuna Pod hostel. The staff here are second to none, Holleh the manager has every single little thing in check but still remains super easy to talk to and every employee can't speak highly enough of her. Hervè the Night Porter was such an awesome guy, spent days chilling together and really do love time spent with this guy. Danielle, Taylor, Kylie also work hard as hell and still manage to be great happy people all day long. BEST HOSTEL GOING ! No question I will recommend to others and stay myself here every time I'm visiting.

What can i say..?👌10/10👌Let me break it down for you; having your own "little" pod (they are pretty big actually) is a real treat; you have your own little world when you shut your curtain. Pretty dark when curtain is closed👌 The beds are SUPERCOMFY👌, the hostel is nice&quiet👌for 90% of my stay slept like a baby because everyone was very relaxed and respectfull considering you're all sharing the room. Shared a 6person room. Number 10 to be exact. No (big) hostel-parties allowed👌 The location is sweet as 👌aswell, because it's superclose to centre, but far away enough to not hear the many, many bars that Qt entails. One of the best hostels I've been in. Beds are in private pods with lights, plugs for charging your stuff, USB charging ports. WiFi with OK speed (around 6 mbps). Showers and everything is tidy and clean.
