We enjoyed our stay at the Copthorne. Rooms were nice and very quiet. Could not hear noise from road or other guests. Beds were really comfortable. Aircon was great! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool and spa were enjoyed several times. Happily accommodated extra night and ensured our two rooms were next to each other.

The beds are to die for. For the first time in who knows how long - I had to wake my smallest person up so we could get to our 9am breakfast on time. The staff are genuinely lovely. I rate them highly! Unfortunately, you can tell that Covid has done a number on the place and impacted it's services. You can tell pre- Covid this would be the coolest place to stay

Had the whole place to ourselves it seemed, only 6 rooms were being used in the whole place. Alone at Breakfast twice during our stay. Only a couple of kids in the pool... Quiet as

Our room was nice enough, a little run down, and the door had clearly been kicked in at some stage.. but the bed was very comfortable, and all amenities were good. Covid has made alit of services unavailable.

Stayed there twice now, over the last 2 school holidays, nice hotel, great reception staff, and awesome cleaning staff, my girls enjoyed the heated pool an spa

Nothing to complaint.. except no food was available..kitchen , bar, restaurant closed ...but to my surprise pool was open ...even in COVID ...guy on reception was very generous..

It's one of the largest and oldest Hotels in Rotorua. Staff polite, but hotel on skeleton crew due to fewer overseas visitors. Beds super comfortable, but check room as housekeeping can miss things. Restaurant closed for evening meals, use Uber Eats. Breakfast on offer, Sunil managing the breakfast service was really professional and attentive. Breakfasts are great! I recommend the omelets.

Fantastic hotel with a small but beautiful team. Sulin the duty manager could not have been better and with great local knowledge and advice. our lady who welcomed us at check in was just amazing also. Awesome pool and spa and garden area for an afternoon beverage. Super comfy bed. Great location. Ample parking. And breakfast was one of the best we have had. We have left feeling so so so relaxed and regretful we arent staying for longer. Definitely comimg back!

It's ok, but place does feel dated. Rooms are clean and tidy, air conditioning works great, and there is a heated pool and 2 spas in the middle of the complex. Looking around you can see much maintenance they needs to be done. We were also short of towels each night, spoke to the staff and they don't do washing on sure as apparently was to expensive... But now washing done of site they are constantly short of towels etc. But for the price, I say it's fine.

Has a spacious parking. Lounge area was quite warm and decorated with Maori wooden carvings. The pool was a moderate size and has two jacuzzi. It was situated in the middle part of the hotel. The gym was a bit underwhelming since the equipments were old and rusty. Nevertheless, the room was quite stunning, elegant and inviting. Mixed comments with the staff as some are really nice and hospitable while others doesn’t seem to care to say hi or even hello to their guests.

Ok hotel. Smelly pillows. Need to wash pillow or change them. They just wash sheets

A hotel that still shows it's few decades old age, but for the unbeatable price, would be one we'd come to again here. The double queen rooms were overall clean, spacious, and looked nice, but there's just some aspects like bathroom ceiling vents missing, hallways showing lots of wires in the roof, and patio furniture having old, flat and stained pillows. The wifi also never worked. But else, we liked the Māori statues, the AC in the rooms, having a pool, and the reception staff.

Not too bad for the price, it's cheap so nothing flash. Only downers were our fridge was overheating so counteracted it's use and the keys to the doors are quite hard to use

The staff were awesome to deal with we had a large group of us for 2 nights, <br/>They allowed us to drink out on the patio area and bring in outside food, <br/>Breakfast was wonderful fresh no matter the time you went in, <br/>Bedrooms were a little tired looking and could do with a fresh coat of paint but beds were comfortable and clean. <br/>Dinner buffet was a little sad looking but good selection as we had vegetarians in our group and it offered something for everyone

I must admit we didn't spend much time in the hotel itself other than sleeping. The beds are comfy and the room and bathroom was cleanish. I think the issue with cleanliness is more to do with the age of some of the bathrooms rather than anything else. The shower heads need a good scrub/treatment with bicarbonate. Quite quiet and no difficulty parking.

The hotel was decently clean, save for finding one earwig on the wall which was promptly disposed of. The lobby was recently renovated but the rest of the hotel was incredibly dated. The hotel was convenient for the town centre as it is situated on what is known as 'motel mile' which is close to 'eat street', an area full of restaurants. The hotel couldn't escape the sulphur smell which is present in the whole town (as it is in a well known geothermal area). The room we were given had a door to an adjoining room with no lock. We were not made aware of this when booking and did not know the occupants next door so this was an unhappy surprise. This also allowed sound to travel easily from the next room which was not ideal. On the positive side, the staff were attentive and the bed was very comfortable and soft.

Had a pleasant stay for my short trip to Rotorua. Copthorne is a large hotel on the main hotel strip in Rotroua. The buildings are a little on the old side but it is clear that the place has been well looked after and maintained. There was a little bit of a line when we arrived to check in with only one person on the front but the line quickly disappeared when another staff member came to help check in guests. Our room was on the third floor. The day that we checked in was especially hot so it was a very nice touch that the AC was running to keep the room cool for us. The room was very clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. Amenities included the standard toiletries and complimentary milk. We weren't advised of any wifi details (though this wasn't a problem for a short stay), nor were we given carpark instructions. We did overhear that the carpark is first come, first served basis which seemed reasonable. As we were out for a late dinner we did have to park on the street upon our return at night. This wasn't too much of an issue however. Facilities include a swimming pool and a typical hotel gym (don't expect all the equipment that a gym has). Hotel location is nice, however is a little too far to walk to and from town, so a car is recommended if staying here. Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is a little old, but has been well maintained and has the facilities you would expect. I look forward to staying here again in the future. Note: There is a 2% credit card surcharge if paying at the property, best to pay online if possible.

Rooms were great; clean and tidy, very well worth their price. Very comfy beds. Service was excellent and friendly. Didn't get to try the food but the menu looked very good, with great late-night room service options.

Skeleton staff due to COVID and complex needing some TLC but friendly staff, comfortable beds and very quiet considering next to busy Fenton St so would recommend staying here

Been here several times over the years and would still recommend this place. It's not what it use to be but that's Covids fault not theirs. 5 stars

Comfortable accommodation nice spa and good breakfast. Very helpful staff.

Room was acceptable and outside ground floor access made our life easy. The service was great, the staff were very user friendly. Sitting on our balcony that's when we noticed that the flash building you see at the front is for top dollar accommodation and the rest is tucked away at the back and really needs renovating.

Room was clean and bed very comfortable, but overall the rest of the place feels tired and in need of an update, worn carpets as an example. Also felt it was expensive and didn't offer value for money. Night 2 we were kept awake by party on the balcony below and they must have been smoking inside as the smell found it's way into the room.

Both my partner & I thoroughly njoyed the drinks & the meals very gd will recommend people go & njoy dine out at Copthorne Hotel.

Great accommodation and helpful staff

The hotel itself was pretty good. The room was very clean. Sliding door was handy for letting fresh air in. Breakfast was aimed at Asian tourists and was not hood value for money for us It was clean and the staff were good. Breakfast was good with the special deal.

Went to a wedding here last night, booked my room months ago and was quite disappointed considering the price, no wifi, got sent to a very old part of the hotel which I didn't know existed as I had only seen the tidy and more modern reception and bar area I felt like I was in a prison. The bed was comfortable though and the room was clean. Really good service and friendly staff.

Always a pleasure catching uo with friends for a wine or two. Service is impeccable. .staff always friendly and welcoming ..and so attentive. .we are regulars and they know before we get up to to the bar what we like to drink and have it poured. Now that's what I call exceptional service

Big thank you to all the team. I pleased by the cleanliness of the room and toilet. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to town but 510 mins in a taxi. Value for money good. We didn't go try the spa, but we think we may gonna try it next time.

Nice, rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were courteous. Breakfast was very fresh, my daughter loved the pancakes. Would stay again.

The staff were very friendly especially the staff in the bar. After a truly ghastly meal in the hotel restaurant (see seperate review) we took a quick dip in the heated pool-which I have to say was very nice. The overall experience was awesome and I would strongly recommend sports teams to use this hotel.

Standard rooms having a face lift and looking fresh. The staff was cordial and helpful. Presumably they don't because they need to have the tariff advertised at the most competitive rate. Location is a 20-30 minute walk from the centre of town. Free shuttle buses to take you into town and back.

Staff is nice. Location is okay. Hotel is abit old. Room is just like a normal old hotel. Size is okay, flexible for family. Parking space is okay. We never having meals in this hotel so can not tell. Security is okay.

Lovely staff. Delicious dinner in hotel restaurant, but breakfast was only average. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable.

Jimmy Cooks buffet was well priced and excellent including the staff the roast beef and pork was divine recommend will return. Thank you. Suggest you do the Asay2Go deal well worth it.

Outdated, tired decor and old smell. The shower ***aged to spray 360 degrees with very little focused on the person standing there. I should mention at this stage that our room was not cheap at $125 per night. Location is a 20-30 minute walk from the centre of town.

Was in Rotorua for my daughter's netball tournament. Prize giving was held at the Copthorne Hotel we were treated very well we gathered in the foyer through the main entrance it was nice and warm inside where we waited for the other netball teams from our club to arrive. Over 50 of of us were taken through to a hall where we conducted our prize giving and then we went to the buffet where we spent the rest of our night the food was amazing well cooked and fresh the staff were very helpful we all enjoyed our time spent at the Copthorne hotel

Had our breakfasts at this place wonderful set up full continental breakfast as well as hot breakfast and also plenty of fruits, juices, coffee and tea also a full Asian breakfast cuisine All staff were great and very respectful regardless of culture would recommend this place for a great hearty breakfast.....

Staff was lovely, hotel was clean, bed and sheets were clean and comfortable. Didn't get to check out any of the facilities e.g. pool & jacuzzi, restaurants at the hotel, 100% would return.

Their wifi cost is way too expensive for a hotel of this caliber. Also our bed was way too soft to be comfortable

For an older hotel it is still a nice stay. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast set up and service.

Came here for an evening conference. The restaurant and conference facilities are clean and well run. Food was good quality.

The receptionist is a funny lady who didn't know about Skyline Gondola in Rotorua. The engineering guy is efficient to fix things right as all our sockets in room are out of order.

Looking for a motel in Rotorua and after looking at a couple of these tried the Copthorne and was delighted to find for not much more an excellent place to stay with very friendly staff and every thing you could need very clean and good food highly recommended

I travel on my own so the room and facilities were adequate.

Service was good. Staff were very respectful, courteous and genuinely friendly. Good solid meals.

There is also a pool, hot tubes, spa and sauna, as well as a fitness area. The rooms are well furnished and clean. As usual in NZ, there is a tea maker in every room. There is also a TV, which is a bit outdated. Unfortunately not a large selection of channels. Wifi: yes, there is free WiFi, but with a time limit. You just make a few compromises with the price. (Original) Das Copthorne ist ein schönes, preiswertes Hotel. Es liegt zwar ein wenig abgelegen vom Zentrum, doch dafür kann es mit einem excellenten Buffet aufwarten. Ausserdem gibt es hier einen Pool, Hot tubes, spa und sauna, sowie einen Fitness bereich. Die Zimmer sind gut eingerichtet und sauber. In jedem Zimmer steht, wie in NZ üblich, ein Teekocher. Ausserdem gibt es einen Fernseher, der allerdings ein wenig veraltet ist. Leider keine große Senderauswahl. Wifi: ja, es gibt free WiFi, allerdings Zeitlimitiert. Ein paar Abstriche macht man einfach bei dem Preis.
