J.Really cool place, felt like a cool hangout for young people rather then a hotel service minded kind of place. The staff is super friendly and like to chat with you, helpful when I wanted to book things and good with information. The common areas are just great with the outside seating, pool table, bar, hot tub, etc. It is surprisingly clean as well for such a cool place. Kitchen a bit small perhaps but I did not use it terribly much while there. Decent beds and facilities.
e.Our experience and Crash Palace was by far the best experience we’ve had at a hostel.
We were immediately welcomed at the front desk by an awesome staff member who made conversation with us, explained everything really well, and gave us good suggestions on things to do.
I felt very secure there as they have a key card system to get past the front desk.
The hostel had many bonuses, like a free hot tub, pool table, extremely cool artwork, spices and oil in a well equipped kitchen, lots of movies to choose from, etc.
Our bunk rooms were very comfortable and we met some awesome people there.
The owner is a really cool guy, and as long as you’re okay with some colorful language, you should definitely find the time to chat with him!
We loved our stay there and would definitely recommend it to anyone!
M.As a backpackers hostel, it is very good! We got the ensuite room. It was a double bed. Very comfortable. There is a hot tub available for use. The sink was a little small. But otherwise the toilets are clean and sufficiently spacious. WiFi is fast. The walls are pretty thin though. So expect to be able to hear your neighbours. Supermarket is about a 3 min walk.
K.It's our second time here and we still liked our stay. They have a billiards table that you can play and a hot tub both outside. The place is secured with a lock on the door going to the rooms. They have working heater during winter even in the common areas. The rooms are spacious and it's good if you are travelling in big groups.
S.This hostel was so great to sleep in! One of the best sleeps I've had my whole trip in a dorm! It was spacious with a fan and nice and quiet with a comfy bed. The kitchen is quite gross at night when all the moths come... 1000's of moths!! They should get some screens for the windows. Great location, friendly staff and would definitely recommend!

They organise activities every nights, and they offer their own alcohol on sale at the bar inside the hostel (which means you can drink your own).
The dorm are clean, there are multiples bathrooms available. However, I was in the 6 bed dorms and we were in a building outside the main one. We had to go outside into the main building at night if we wanted to use the bathroom. Not that convinient when raining or cold.
The kitchen was clean every morning however it was so dirty sometimes. It's not the staff fault but the guest. However, maybe have someone do a quick clean after dinner or something..
Comfy beds, nice sheet and no money deposit for the keys.
F.Awesome hostel environment conducive to meeting other people and having a good time. The hostel bar is well stocked, hot tub nice and warm, and the rooms are well kept. Only issue is that the Rotorua sulphuric smell seems to be particularly present, however you get accustomed to it relatively quickly.
J.amazing and cheap place to crash. it is very clean and showers toilet and washing area are cleaned frequently.
the kitchen has everything you need. the eating area is quite small but you have the opportunity to go downstairs and eat and drink outside in comfortable chairs.

M.We stayed in a private room with one bunk bed. Was clean and roomy along with a small desk and two chairs. Shared bathroom down the hall was okay, not too dirty, but not amazing either. But this is a hostel, so that's what you get! We would stay here again.
C.Centrally located hostel with daily free activities and competitions. Excellent facilities including hot showers, kitchens, spa pool and bbq. All areas were very clean and well decorated.
Be aware they usually have loud music playing until around 11pm most nights, and even later at weekends. In addition, rooms next to the bathrooms will hear the electric hand-dryers going all the time.
Most of the staff are friendly and fun however there is one person who we found to be rude and unhelpful.
B.Good location. Beds were really comfortable. Bathroom was constantly out of toilet paper and hand soap. Kitchen was constantly out of dish soap. Guests either left their dishes by the sink or just rinsed then with water and put them back on the shelf.
R.Very friendly staff. The WiFi is very good but on some evenings you have no WiFi at all. The kitchen is very cleaned up and they provide a lot of spices even oil. Unfortunately only half of the hotplates are working. The dining room is a little small. Bathrooms are ok. Bedrooms are very nice but you really don't want to sleep in the upper bed (scared to fall off). Lockers are very nice too just like mirrors in the bedrooms and a chair for every bed (4 in the 4 beds room).
C.I've been staying at different backpackers in rotorua for 3 years and this one seems to be the best so far. Great atmosphere. Bar prices are pretty good. Kitchen is a shade small but facilities are all in good working order. Going back for another week and looking forwards to it.
A.Best cheap-accomodation in Rotorua. It’s quite small but cozy. The receptionist went beyond expectations when ask for help, recommendation or anything in general. The rooms were clean and spacious. Also, the common areas such toilets and kitchen were clean and there was some free essentials (oil, tea, coffee, bread, sugar, salt). Location-wise was close to the city Center and although it didn’t have parking there were many free parking spaces around. Highly recommended.
M.The best hostel I've stayed during my 13 months of travelling. Good location and helpful staff. Only bad thing was that you can't bring your own alcohol there, have to buy from hostel bar (7,5$ beer).
D.It's really cheap at $20 a night, there's always music playing downstairs, there's a tv and dvds, a bar, hot tub, beds are comfy, there are activities most nights, like poker, beer pong, a free meal. The staff are super friendly, and can help you with any problems/enquiries. My only concern is that the toilet seats don't stay up, so you'll occaisionally have to wipe the toilet seat in the men's room :(
I.Comfy bed in a spacious dorm, outdoor hot pool, big and well equiped kitchen, good prices in the bar and super friendly staff, all in a really good location, just a few blocks away from the bus station and the polynesian spa. What else could anyone possibly ask for?!
We stayed only for a night, but we'd definitely stayed longer if we could 👌
L.Great accomodation at a low price. The music through the walls is pretty loud late at night, and my mattress had a stain on it, but hey, that's not bad for $50 considering that the room was clean and had a heater. Recommended.
N.Definitely a party hostel, beer pong and much drunken yahooing til late. Was put off by a few things- lack of recycling facilities, key was very sticky, unable to bring outside booze onto premises (fair enough, but missed this vital info when booking), and had to strip your own bed in the AM, weird. Gf and I enjoyed the spa pool, but were split on the colour of paint used in the room. Staff were generally friendly and engaging.
S.Very nice hostel! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the people staying there as well. They have two kitchens which makes it easy and not too crowded when you cook. The room was clean, and you got free wifi!
B.Great staff. Well structured schedule for people staying to interact. BBQ night, pool competition, etc. Very good quality for the price and one of the cleaner hostiles I have stayed in. Kitchen is cleaned twice a day by the staff.

You know when you travel around and you drunkingly think about what you would you would do if you ran a hostel? it feels like this is what has happened. Cheap rooms, free quick wi-fi, free rice and pasta, free pool table, free jacuzzi. A free bbq on friday.
There is 2 kitchens upstairs and down and staff are completely approachable. It broaches that gap in between party hostel and quiet one. Just a well run backpacker friendly hostel.

A.This was one of the best backpackers i stayed at. its very hippy people around are friendly. rates are pretty reasonable. they have game nights where one can win some free beer. on the whole this backpacker is clean.
L.One of the best hostels I have visited during my stay in New Zealand. The hostel is a bit hipster 'ish with all the art work. Especially liked the colourfull map of new zealand on the wooden table outside together with the stilisch lighted jars hanging on a platform above this table! looked really adorable! (forgot to make a picture, so if one is able to please send it through ;))
Free parking spaces, free and good running WiFi. City center within walking distance and a lovely staff. We were there on saturday and got free pancakes sunday morning. This really made my day haha. Only thing was that our room was a little cold but when we putted the heater on all was fine and the next morning it was almost contrary, sooo warm.

L.I'm in my 40's so opted for a private room which was nicely decorated with showers and toilets just along from the room. A lot of ammenities on offer at this place too. A tad noisy in the evening but nothing some ear plugs couldn't sort out.

C.Crash Palace Backpackers is a great hostel. It is clean (they have a cleaners for the kitchen, toilets, common areas and rooms), organised and the staff is friendly.
It is located close to the Hobbiton, buses and main turistic places in Rotorua by walking distance or buses.
The bedsheets, pillows and mattresses are comfy and clean.

c.The cleanest and coolest hostel you'll find in Rotorua. Wifi is the best!! Great location, just 2 mins walk to a big supermarket (Pak n Save), right in the center of Rotorua. Friday nights are BBQ nights! They give free nz sausages and salad for free and free puncakes on Sunday morning! There are free activities everyday, the vibe is really cool throughout the hostel and staff.
A.Nice hostel with good facilities, the manager Chris was very helpful and accommodating. Good wifi and the hostel was clean and cheap to a good standard.
C.Nice Stuff, but it was a bit cold during the night and the kitchen was also very small and without much space to put your stuff. But the hotpot was really nice and indeed really warm.

Ho preso una stanza singola con bagno in comune, tutto molto pulito e piacevole. In stanza, oltre al letto (comodo), c'è anche un tavolino e lo specchio. Ci sono due cucine ben attrezzate e ogni sera vengono organizzati giochi o altre attività. La sera che sono arrivato c'era un barbecue gratis! Ogni ospite ha diritto ogni giorno ad una ciotola di pasta o di riso gratis, in cucina vengono fornite le spezie di base e olio di semi e aceto. Eins der besten hostels. Jeden Abend finden Aktivitäten statt, z.b. beer pong oder free bbq. Zudem gibt es free herbs and spices, sowie frei Nudeln und Reis Vor kurzem haben sie auch neue gemütliche Matratzen bekommen ;) es herrscht immer eine gute Atmosphäre durch die Musik.
Allerdings ist der Pool Tisch nicht der beste, macht das Spiel aber umso interessanter und lustiger

배낭여행을 하시는 분들께 추천드립니다. 로토루아 시내가 워낙 좁긴하지만 위치가 아주좋습니다. 폴리네시안 스파도 바로 옆이고 거버먼트가든도 가깝고 아이사이트도 별로 멀지 않고 위치는 아주 좋습니다. 직원도 친절하고 샤워시설도 나쁘지 않고 빨래는 세탁기는 따로 없고 직원한테 가서 옷 주면 세탁을 해서 다음날 줍니다. 단점이라면 침대소리가 좀 많이 납니다. 잘때 조금만 뒤쳑여도 삐걱거려서 신경 예민한 사람은 조금 불편 할 수도 있습니다. 그것빼면 아주 준수한 백팩커스입니다.
