Seconds after leaving the car at Robertson House we were already greeted by a great - if not THE greatest host we ever had at a B&B, named John. He showed us around and even took his time for painting and handcrafting our route on a small map (go there, you will love it here, avoid this and consider eating here). After unpacking our stuff in our cosy room, with a lovely private woodden patio in colonial style, off we went. Every hint he gave us was a gold. The small Maori village at lake Rotorua, where the local shaman even took us around by car (after his tour for another tourist group) to get us an original Tiki, or the stroll in the redwoods and the small lakes, or the buried village, or the park with it's geothermal wonders and interesting „odour“- He certainly knows his way around and you just can feel he loves what he does! Great breakfast, 110% hospitality and don't you forget to ask about Loki if you want to hear a lovely, life-changing story about a dog with Maori spirit! His story will be spread =)

We’ve had the best time there. Incredible bed and breakfast in a 19th century house, beautifully decorated and with antiques furnitures for the full decorum. Absolutely lovely! The food is also very good!! (Especially thé home made muesli and yogurt) But the best is yet to come, the host. John has made our stay in the b&b and moreover in the city memorable. He has taken the time every morning to guide us through the city and the surroundings and has given us a bespoke itinerary. If it was not for him, we would not have had the amazing experience in Rotorua. Thanks again!!!

The house is beautiful and the room was a good size with very comfortable bed. The best bit about our stay was the host John, the best B&B host we've ever met and a truly wonderful man. Would recommend to everyone.

The Robertson House is one of the best B&B (Bad and Breakfast) of New Zealand. It's a beautiful old house build in 1905 in central Rotorua, protected. All ensuite rooms are wonderful decorated, unique and very clean. John is the host of the Robertson House and everybody's darling. He really cares about every single guest all day long. He loves to give inside tips out of touristic paths. If you every come to New Zealand, visit John and the Robertson House. It's unforgettable.

Cannot recommend Robertson House and my wonderful host John highly enough. Free WiFi, great local knowledge, large, comfortable, spotless ensuite rooms in a quiet location, easy walking distance from Rotorua CBD.

Nice place to stay. Host John is very friendly and full af good advices visiting places in Roturoa. 20 min walk to the city centre.

(Translated) The Robertson House is one of the oldest houses far and wide. It is just beautiful and very authentic. We felt very comfortable. What we also owe to the host, he lives and loves the B&B completely, he was very polite, warm, gave us many tips for sightseeing that didn't cost anything and we were happy to meet John. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Was wir auch dem Gastgeber zu verdanken haben, er lebt und liebt das B&B voll und ganz, er war sehr höflich, herzlich, hat uns viele Tipps für Sehenswürdigkeiten, die nichts kosten gegeben und uns hat es gefreut John kennenzulernen. Wirklich ein tolles Erlebnis dort! Danke!

(Translated) "Uncle John" immediately creates a relaxed feeling on arrival. The accommodation seemed a bit boring to us, we don't like the atmosphere very much. Once arrived here it was a warm welcome, cozy atmosphere and the large corridor with characteristic rooms is really cozy. The bed slept wonderfully and everything was clean.
