Y.Pretty decent spot if you're on a budget friendly travel to Rotorua. Ample parking for 5-7 cars at the back, more off street parking.. wifi speed was good.. the beds were super comfy
S.Very friendly guy in charge, had a great conversation with him exchanging stories etc. The facilities were also great, very comfy beds (no bunks), solid showers, safice parking. Highly recommend.

Owners: beautiful family who make a huge effort to make you feel at home. Great advice on the local attractions.
The place: kept very clean, it’s great for showering and cooking. Many comfortable chilling options in two separate rooms (quiet or TV room). The TV had a great movie selection on USB drive. It all lends itself to friendly socializing (guitar 🤘) but quiet corners too. Big hot tub fits many people!
Dorm room: spacious and no bunks. Mattress good, a little soft for me. Night lights would be cool to allow some less aggressive evening lighting in room (but then we’d socialize less 😉).
Heaters: beautiful geothermal heat, great feeling for the colder winter evenings.
I would make a point of returning here, thanks for having me!

B.Amazing warm welcome and very friendly and helpful hostess. Would definitely go here again when i am in the vicinity. Very clean and good facilities. The free hot bath in the back is a nice luxury add-on, just what you need after all these long hikes. Thank you Moose! ;)
M.As far as Backpackers hostels go Rotorua Central is top of the list.
Hotel quality beds (no bunks!) ensure a good nights rest.
Most of the guests that stay here seem to respect this too.
(Quieter than some the other 'party' venues)
Stayed here for several nights over a month when I had to attend to our business in Rotorua and definitely enjoyed my stays.
Very well located close to all of the central attractions and to transport to others further afield.
The bus station is a short walk away and a rental car depot is nearby. Supermarket is fairly close too.
Highly recommended to all with or without transport who value a good nights sleep.
J.I really liked this backpackers. I arrived late in the evening and the person at the desk was friendly and helpful I stayed in a single room with a king bed. The bathroom was across the hall. Everything was clean and well taken care of. There was room in the fridge for my food, the shower was hot and the heating worked well. It is close to everything and reasonably priced (a dorm room share was $22 and the single was $50) I felt like the staff cared about my experience staying there and so I enjoyed it that much more.

The whole place is extremely warm. Great radiators.
Parking is good and walking distance to the town center. I recommend staying here.
A.The hostel is conveniently placed between the lake and city center. The kitchen is spacious and the entire place is clean and tidy. The rooms are decent and bathrooms are sufficient. The single beds are great but come with a lack of lockers/place to put your stuff. Otherwise the kitchen could do with one more fridge.

Z.Cute for a hostel. Good location and decent facilities. Not a good place to stay if you want to sleep in past 9am as you can hear everything through the walls. At least once daily there’s no toilet paper in the toilet.
c.What makes this hostel is the people staying here and the hosts! The hosts are friendly and very helpful. They want to make sure you enjoy your stay, feel welcomed and get to know Rotorua. The facilities are older and dated but clean and in working condition. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, pots/pans, etc and it big so multiple people can be preparing and cooking at the same time. The location was great! Close to busing, iSITE, downtown and the gardens. I found it quiet and easy to relax here both in my room and in the common rooms. The only T.V is in a common room. I would stay here again.

- No deals for long term stays which means most people you meet will be people who just arrived or will soon leave.
- No security in rooms for your belongings, you can only store anything valuable away in storage rooms.
- You can't stick your belongings under your bed. (stuff just ends up piled next to beds)
All in all this hostel has lots of potential to be the best in Rotorua , lots of room for improvement but it's not bad either. The beds and location with a respectable kitchen and hot tub is what makes this hostel really good. I would have stayed in this hostel longer than the 10 nights if they was willing to offer up a deal to support longer stays. 👍 4/5
H.The best hostel I have stayed in anywhere in New Zealand. The location is central and within easy walking distance to the government gardens, the lakeside, the main street, the restuarant sector and other significant tourist spots. Off street parking was convenient. This was a very tidy, quiet and spacious hostel, with comfortable beds in secure rooms. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The kitchen, dining room, shower and laundry facilities were excellent. To top it all off it has its own free hotpool!! Very reasonably priced too. Definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Rotorua.
T.Great hostel for families and backpackers who need a relaxing home!
- Free and fast WiFi
- Hot tub and laundry (open till 11pm and laundry is $4 each machine and there's lines for drying if you don't want to use the dryer)
- Stocked kitchen (always open but for 11-12pm for cleaning)
- Quite hours at 11pm (be respectful of families and tired travelers!)
- Loads of toilets and hot showers (there's also a bath tub upstairs)
- Clean!
- Dorms are a good size and beds are comfortable
- TV room with tons of movies (TV shuts down at 11pm)
- Free parking (8 spots and a section in the middle of the road that's free to the public. Otherwise, parking is $2 a day.)

L.As a solo female traveller - I felt very comfortable and relaxed in this backpackers. I took a single room - bed and pillows were perfect. Slept like a baby. Right in town and close to shops/grocery/restaurant/i-site.
They offer some discounts/specials on attractions around town and tours. When I checked in - I was given a great map w highlighted walking tour around town. Very helpful. Thanks for the great stay!
S.Literally the best hostel in New Zealand, really chilled and beautiful! Staff are super nice and the bed is comfy (they have single beds instead of bunk beds!!). WiFi is fast and kitchen is clean. The location is also great, 3 mins walk from I-site and the bus stop. I would highly recommend Rotorua Central Backpackers to all the travelers in New Zealand and would love to stay here again if I come back!
神.I stayed two times,and second time they remembered me. I am japanese and could not speak english well, but they are so nice to me.
Cozy, clean room ,close to main street. They also have single bed! Owner is really kind and nice person. I truly recommend.
R.The location is decent (the only downside of sleeping across a police station is sirens wailing regularly), the kitchen was efficient and the beds are well ... they are not bunk beds so that is a plus. The restroom facilities are well maintained. I won't mention the paid wifi since it was much cheaper and apparently charging for this service (which many of us take for granted) is pretty much the norm in this island. In the end, I felt like staying with some relatives, which was great.

Não tem beliche. Só por isso já merece as 5 estrelas. São vários banheiros, dois com banheira (infelizmente não tive tempo de aproveitar), a cozinha é enorme. Contra somente que não tem café da manhã. Mas facilmente se compra algo nos supermercados perto. A localização é perfeita, perto do ponto do ônibus intercity e do i-site, de onde saem os passeios e onde pode agendar os tours. Também fica perto do escritorio Tamaki Maori, sendo fácil agendar e ir para a atração. Além disso o Neil é super simpático e te faz se sentir em casa, na casa de amigos. E eles moram mesmo lá, então é bem familiar.
Muitas meninas moram lá.
A dica é ficar nos quartos de 4 pessoas, pq se der a sorte que eu dei, capaz de não ter mais ninguém e o quarto ficar pra vc sozinho/a.
