Reviews of Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park
Great camping grounds, you can choose the area you camp rather than given a pitch which I think is more fun. Facilities were clean and everyone on the campsite was happy and kind. The staff were super helpful. The location was great. Pools open till late and beautiful little herb gardens to use whilst cooking
10/10 would recommend to friends and family.
Camping in our boat for a 70th celebration brought many of the family here. All types of accommodation was used. One of the kitchen and dining rooms were very convenient.
Other campers were invited to help them selves to so much food leftover. Nice people. This is a lovely place to stay with hot pools and cold pool.
Perfect for a short overnight visit for us for what we paid. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. The lodge was clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Exactly what we needed. We didn't cook but kettle available for compulsory cuppa in the morning
There's thermal pools for guests to use as well for added bonus
Rotorua town wasn't our favourite place, though
We stayed here for 3 days for my daughter’s birthday in a standard log cabin & all facilities were right across the road. The beautiful sound of birds surrounding us with the abundance of free fruit trees and gardens to help ourselves too. We were welcomed as soon as we got to the reception. The facilities were spotless and cleaned on routine by the amazing workers. I could feel the passion in what they do because like clockwork everything was pristine. We enjoyed the hot pools & the cold pool dips in the morning with crispy Rotorua air. We also enjoyed the lake & made memories that will last forever. Thank you Rotorua thermal for your hospitality, for the care in your work & the love in your thermal park we can’t wait to come back & stay next time.
A Great Choice
I took a group of 21 and we stayed three nights using a motel unit and three self contained units. Fabulous. Clean and comfortable. The hot pools were well used by us and appreciated. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Premium pricing for budget room. Several items required maintenance, including loose tap, missing front cover for grill, and one power point not working. Good size, new fridge. Inside cleaning perfect. Front verandah table, chairs, and hand rail had bird droppings. Great location. Thermal pools with great temperature.
We booked a family room with one double bed and a bunk bed. Unfortunately, the bunk bed was located right next to the toilet, which was very small and emitted an unpleasant odor, making it uncomfortable. The floor had no carpeting, making it quite cold. Overall, the facilities were small, and the toiletries were below average. We stayed for two nights and were relieved when it was time to check out and move to a different accommodation. On a positive note, my children enjoyed swimming in the hot pool, though we wished it had been upgraded to something nicer. Thank you.
Pretty good stay here!
Communal kitchens were generally well-equipped and rooms were clean and kept the sulfur smell of rotorua out. Communal bathrooms were alright.
No real complaints except for the location if you don’t have a car. We were prepared to do the long walk into town, to bus stops, and to the attractions we were planning on going to, but unfortunately it was raining super heavily and was impossible to get anywhere (we ended up having to take an uber).
Also our room was definitely not the cutesy wood cabin-y vibe of lots of the photos; it was very much the metal box vibe.
Stayed for 2 nights, the Thermal pools were definitely a highlight. Great facilities, plenty of camping space allocated. Customer service was exceptional, we will be back.
The location is nice. There is a communal kitchen and bathrooms are nice. The campervan sites are all connected with a porch walkway that is connected to the kitchen and bathroom. The campervan sites are okay, a little uneven. Great location as it’s right next to Te Puia. It’s about a 5 -10 min drive to the town.
Great facilities but an hour and a half wait to get into our cabin after check in time
The room was quite nice and comfortable. Plenty of toilets across the park. The showers were nice and warm and the hot pools were good. Unfortunately basic cooking utensils and items were hard to find and getting these involved a trip to the main office.
We stopped here for the night, and my partner went for a soak in the hot pools, and he said they were good. Amenities were tidy. The checkout was at 11 a.m.. I'm not sure if it's all year, though.
Small hotwater pools and one cold water pool.
Kids activity area.
Nice family vacation area
Good budget option for staying in Rotorua. The rooms are well heated and the hot pools are popular for a reason as they are available for no extra cost. The kitchen facilities are quite good, but if there are things you are missing, you will need to request them from the reception.
Super nice, modern and comfy cabin 😁 Kids loved the thermal pool. Wiĺl highly recommend, great value even the bed was super comfy. We had 4 cabins booked, different sizes, everyone was very happy with their accommodation.
The room iwe stayed in have 3 double deck which is good for 6 person. The room is clean, with complete beddings, cutlery, electric kettle, ref , microwave oven, stove and cabinet inside the room for only $40 per head it is worrh it. There is also a thermal pool where we swim and you can bbq grill for free. The Toilet and showers are many so you dont have to wait or lined for use, and the kitchen also is very wide
What a team! Everyone from reception to the regulars are so lovely and kind. The facilities are clean, and well kept. Great for smaller and larger families with lots of different room options. |Shared bathrooms are large and you’re never short of a toilet or shower. |3 main hot baths that are well sheltered from weather. ||Cannot thank the staff enough for the smiles, conversation, and consistent warm nature. |We stayed for many days and will be back again! ||Close to main city without being in the hustle. ||Great facilities for children !
This place is great.
Very affordable and still having quite a number of amenities. The best being all guests having access to both the hot and cold pools. Basic pools they are but very much of value for what we paid for. The Cabin we booked was doe 3 couples so we got 3 rooms but there were corridor bu k beds x4 and a sofa bed too. So plenty of sleeping area. Close to city and in terms of safety, you are well protected. An affordable family home
Awesome place to stay, clean & tidy.|nice cosy cabin to stay in with two kids, with everything required for an overnight stay.|Toilets & showers were clean and easy to use.|Hot pool was amazing and throughly enjoyed.||Friendly lady at the front desk was awesome.||Would highly reccomend to everyone to stay here.
Ideal accommodation for low budget vacations or retreats. Located near Roturua's CBD. Very convenient . Highly recommend
Lovely hot pools and close to the trail to the mountain bike park. There's a bike wash too and herb garden to supplement your dinner.
The cabins match the description and a bit cold in winter,
Adequate camp sight, all amenities were clean, including hot pools and outdoor swimming area. The rooms were warm and comfortable, but could use a little TLC. The camp kitchen was not equipped, so I had to pay to rent utensils, which were not in the best condition, but there was a very nice camper's herb garden. The kitchen in the room was a bit too small to use at all. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was fine if you have a vehicle but not in walking distance to stores or areas of interest.
The best place to spend a few nights to get away from normal life! We love staying in the log cabins and even took our dog last time we stayed. Simple rules for bringing a dog (no dogs in buildings, must be on a lead, etc) and the staff were lovely.
We loved it so much that after our first stat we booked another weekend in a month!! Clean updated facilities, spotless rooms with comfy beds and clean linen, good cooking facilities! Best holiday park ever
Great facilities, the bathroom, shower and dining room were all clean and spacious. The kitchen was a bit disappointing as it came with no cookware, crockery or utensils. This was fine because I had my own, but I would have loved to see a coffee plunger at least. The staff were friendly and helpful. I camped and although it was raining, the ground I was on was elevated and didn’t get too soggy. The hot pools are lovely. I suggest going later if you are a solo traveller as families filled up the pools before 6. The price for camping is pretty good considering you have access to the hot pools included.
Great location for biking. Good selection of room types. Amenities were clean.
My second stay at Rotorua Thermal Holiday park. The log cabin was cute! Warm and comfortable with everything I needed.
The hot pool was again fantastic.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Look forward to staying again soon.
We camped in a powered lot. The campsite was really easy to find and only 5/10 min drive from the centre of Rotorua.||Everything was clean and there were plenty of toilets/showers and other facilities.||They also have pools including some hot pools which is a lovely addition. We had a great time camping here and would definitely come back again!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the cabin here. The facilities are spacious & clean. The thermal hot pools are decent. It is cute that they have a herb garden if you cook when camping.
shared a really cute cabin with my parents, was rather warm too. it was a little small and only had one outlet. the playgrounds were nice, the kitchens had a lot of facilities too. the bathrooms were well kept,
the lady in reception was very nice, and the stray kitten they were looking after was the cutest little thing ever. really wish i could have taken them home with me.
overall a very nice place with some thermal mud pools on site visit, good little family getaway spot
Stayed at the log cabin - lovely little room with potential to sleep 4.
Bunk bed mattress felt like a foam one and dipped in the middle from so much use, however, was still comfortable to sleep in.
Good facilities, didn’t use the kitchen but appeared not to be furnished with any cooking equipment so bring your own.
Had really cute herb gardens and spacious, beautiful grounds.
Didn’t use the pools but they appeared fine and was great that they had 3 separate small hot pools for people to use.
Stayed here while in Rotorua… friendly staff helped us at short notice… the cabin was spot on for us… the showers have the best temp and pressure I’ve felt in over 20 years!
The pools they have (4 hot 1 cool) are bliss!
Will be staying here next time I am in Rotorua
I recently stayed here in the dorm bed room/cabin. It was great, very clean, spotless actually and there was hotplates, kettle, cutlery, plates, fridge also. The shared bathroom was also very clean and large. All the staff I spoke with were nice, friendly and helpful. I would happily stay here again. Price affordable too.
Camped in a tent, loved the use of all the hot and cold pools. Great utilities, showers, kitchens and coin operated laundry. Conveniently placed herb gardens to compliment your cooking. Overall great place.
One of the workers has been there too long, won't admit when she's wrong. The workers don't liaise with each other about animals brought in,as it is suppose to be a pet friendly site. Your dog must be on a leash at all times but they have several dogs roaming free and even barking at the kids playing outdoor chess. Because of the grumpy lady with no customer serving skills that likes to talk down to customers without checking the facts with staff,I have changed my answer.
Large family cabin. Clean sheets and comfortable beds. Quiet location, a bit far out of town. Some mould in window corners. Peeling paint inside , a bit tired. Hot pools looked unsanitary. Overall, not too bad for 1 night
When it comes to amenities for the price, as a camper with a tent, it was fantastic. Plenty of space in the kitchen to cook with an abundance of hobs . Wi-Fi for 1gb included. BBQ available also. That’s only talking about all the practical amenities and I haven’t even mentioned the table tennis, great showers and hot pool. As a whole I would totally recommend. Great value.
Edge of Rotorua but still crazy close to everything. Great rooms which are very cosy, pretty and at a great price. Bathrooms are okay, but provide everything you need. Hot tub was closed 😭, but we got to use the family tub. Pool was nice.
Games Room was closed for another group which was a bummer though.
So many extras that are here, makes it a fun stay!
Great spot close to the mountain bike park,
Had our poptop camper out for another holiday unfortunately this time it rained, and our 40 odd year old camper had a few leaks!
Facilities at the camp were good there's plenty of kitchen area for dishes and cooking,
The hot pools are great, 1 family hot pool and 1 family outdoor pool, then 3 other hot pools that are nice and hot
We liked the cabin we were in just right for us bunk beds for my 2 girls plus and bedroom for us very small bathroom but that wasn't really an issue. The running water was dirty. There were ants but hey if there's bug spray use it easy fix spray the buggers an get along with yah day, don't leave food uncovered on the kitchen sink🤷♀️.
But we enjoyed our stay and would stay again👍
For the price, this holiday park was fine. Know what to expect—we had only a cabin with two beds, a table and two chairs, and a space heater. The bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower was in a separate building. If you are used to camping, this is a step up. If not, this may be rough for you. Management should consider adding heaters to shared spaces, like the toilets, kitchen, and laundry. We traveled in winter and it was cold!
The entrances to this holiday park hardly seen due to no light at the entrance when going inside this park. Be aware else you will passby it.
Our cabin with kitchenette and bathroom was at first glance basic but good. Then: only one bed was made up, so we had to make up the bunk bed, which had a terrible mattress that sank in the middle. The curtains were extremely dirty. A lot of dust under the bed ( discovered when searching for dropped earring) and large dollops of dust stuck to the feet of the uncomfortable stools - chairs would be much better. Also - no kettle. It would also help to have safe steps to the cabin - what are there would never pass a health and safety inspection. However, the location and view are beautiful, and the grounds are well kept. Quiet, and serves its purpose.
I've been twice now. I stayed in two different kinds of cabins and loved the experience both times.
The pools and shared spaces are great, and there's so much to do around the area of the park itself as well
Has gone backwards to when I use yo stay quiet a bit
This place was a little tired. Seems as though the owners have let it go. It is close to a busy road yet no effort is made to provide noise cover. The hot pools are badly in need of a make over. On the plus side the staff are friendly and flexible (they allowed us to move to another plot. Having a soak at the end of the day was welcome. It is close to some attractions. Come on owners, sort it out!
Both the kitchen and shower rooms were quite good with a wide size powered site, the staffs are so nice and friendly. The best point was that, it's very near the supermarket, good for us to purchase food for cooking.
Nice place which is close enough to the city and other amenities. The grounds are huge and they have alot of facilities here. Not many showers on site so I would imagine it can get busy when it's full capacity. A lot of choice with cabins for all budgets and overall good parking. Hot pools were a nice addition, there are 4 in total with 1 cold pool.
We usually stay here when in Rotorua. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Short ride to main centre and attractions
Stayed here for 3 nights on an unpowered tent pitch. Facilities were brilliant! Toilets and kitchen kept very clean considering how busy it was, and having dish washing liquid available was a bonus. Showers are clean and hot. Site is in perfect location for all central tourist attractions. The free hot pools were such a treat! The site was super busy with a school mountainbiking trip being there which we didn't expect, so couldn't really use the TV room area or dining room. Nonetheless the place had life and I can't complain for just $22 each per night. Thanks for a great stay :)! Would definitely return.
We had a 3 bed cabin, was a little tight for 3 adult men. Since the only ventilation was in the bathroom, and only running if you had the lights on there, we wanted to keep windows open, but there was not any fly/mosquito nets on the windows, so it was not possible.
We had a family gathering here for a few days to celebrate my brothers birthday, who is not with is anymore. Great location, close to the city, but quiet. Cabins were great and our double bed was soooo comfortable! The pool and hot thermal pools were lovely. Kids had a fun time. Would recommend visiting if you are a couple, group or family 🙂
The most amazing campsite on our roadie so far. Spacious, beautiful grounds make for an uncrowded feel, even in the peak of summer. Everything Is an amazing quality and maintained to a great Standard for a holiday park. Free heated swimming pool, and range of facilities including kitchen/ laundry / dining and lounge make for a very comfortable camping experience. Also the nicest and cleanest bathroom and shower rooms than any camp area I've experienced. It is not central to town or the lake but is a very short and easy drive down the main street to all activities and lakes- the facilities and quality of the park definitely make up for this though.
10/10 will definitely be back!!!!!!!
Comfortable beds in cozy cabin with kitchenette and bathroom. Bench and table outside for breakfast in the sunshine. Hot pools were a hit and miss in terms of being crowded, but even if crowded everyone was considerate of others and made room as well as bring not too noisy. Opening hours of pool and hot pools are great. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Depending on where you're headed - mountain bike tracks, having a car or relying on busses - the property may be more or less suitable for you. Check your needs in advance! No complaints though, would come back anytime.
Decent facilities, but the kitchen does not come with any shared kitchen utensils. Also, some of our drinks got stolen from the community fridge. Nice to have the pools at no extra cost though. Would stay again.
When we booked we were a bit difficult but the staff was so kind and accomodating. Cabin was clean and cozy with comfy bedding included in price. Had showers in the newest block and they were first class as far as campground showers goes: great size, pressure, and heat. Hot pools are standard but excellent and having a graze on the camp herb garden was good fun.
Stayed here for 5days after choosing to leave another motel in Rotorua. This place was great. Office ladies were very nice& helpful. The outdoor thermal pools were great (didn't use til the 3rd day & wish I had taken better advantage of them). The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. Many thanks to my sister for paying for it and thanks to the workers at Rotorua Thermal holiday Park.
UsedvRV powered pitch, was quiet in march. Thermal pools were great way to relax at end of day, good take away an esy. Walk down the street as well.
Great place to relax.
I stay in my van and have all the facilities..
The place is perfect if you want to stay somewhere cheap and central in Rotorua. Just a few meters away from Te Puia and a short drive from everywhere else.
The rooms are compact but we managed to fit seven people in. The grounds are nice and well kept. Pools and games room were great.
If you are looking for a no-frills Rotorua stay, this is a great place.
Good little park to stay for a few days with 3 free hot pools and a cool pool. Just be mindful that this park is really close to a few thermal areas, so the sulphur smell is very strong. The facilities are quite old and run down but there is a sign saying that they are scheduled for an upgrade this year.
This camp is fairly decent. The swimming pool and thermal pools were a particular highlight, they were both very good.
The amenities were a little old, but kept quite clean. The grounds were fairly well maintained, and quite pretty at points. The actual campground quality is mixed, some areas were nice grass, others were just straight hard dirt.
The real lowlight were the reception staff unfortunately. They seemed offended we spoke to them, including straight up ignoring my children's presence at all.
Not bad for the price, but go for a decent swimming pool.
Stayed for the first time here in winter and the cabin we stayed at was clean, cute in size but had everything we needed! Surroundings was also quiet at night. Looking forward to staying here again!
Nice holiday park, friendly staff and good location will be back
Spent two nights here in motorhome. Very helpful reception, very clean toilets / showers and best kitchen facilities seen in a while. Nice hot pools and covered walkway to facilities a bonus considering we were there on very wet windy days.
Well recommended.
Booked via wotiif. Wifi excluded, however can be purchased.
Staff were attentive and fast on arrival. They give you a map of the park and a key for your stay.
Rooms have all bedding, towels soap. I stayed in a unit with an ensuite. No issues with the bathroom or bedding.
The units are very near each other's, house rules says to keep it down past 9.30pm everyone was respectful of that during my stay.
They have a great shared pool area. Kids play areas and a huge grassey space.
I would say that the units are on the small side but sufficient, they managed a mini dining table as well as beds and cooking space. There are no big spaces to lay out clothes or hang them up. I found myself just taking what I need from my bag as I went.
There is no air-conditioning but the room comes with a heater.
Fridge, kettle, toaster, stove top and microwave all in working order and with utensils for cooking and eating.
It was mid. Shower and toilet doors would barely close and needed to be body slammed to get out of. Also the walls were bright green and blue for some reason. Not the best shower experience, but had good water pressure. Cockroach on the bed and the microwave kept beeping through the night. The heater was nice and kept the room warm and also has a nice common room to "engage with other guests".
Cabin could do with some tlc. The mattresses are in need of replacing but apart from that we had a pleasant stay. Our cabin deck overlooked a grassy area spotted with wild flowers. Walking distance to Te Puia.
We had a blast at this park. Front desk check in was a snap, no issues. Ladies were fun and cheery. Hook up’s were easy and spaces are generous. Met some new friends and had a great few night there.
It is a reasonable place. The cabin we got was a smaller one with kitchenette and shared bathroom, the room was clean and sheets fresh, the little heater warmed the room super well. Cutlery clean for use. There was lots of space to walk/bike around, hot pools available and are very nice. The kitchen/dining area we used was extremely cold with no heating, but there was another further away which had heating and was very nice. The bathroom probably needs a bit of TLC and updating and not enough showers, even for low season. But overall a good place to stay.
Lovely hosts, had booked for 8 of us. They were so accommodating. Facilities were great. Will definitely be booking again in the near future. Lovely hot pools and so close to town and sights.
Good option for cheap accommodation, specially when traveling in a group. Small huts are for 5 people and, although small, they have what you need. Kitchen, bathrooms and washers on the common area
This was the perfect spot for my family, it was clean, provided the nesscities an had a great range of ammenties provided. The pools were certainly a highlight of our stay.
The pool is heated an lovely to swim in an the mineral pools divine.
Our only regret was having just the one night as more time was needed just to explore the holiday park.
Highlights were the pools but worthy of mention is the herb garden available for guests to use in their cooking, the outdoor play equipment & the tv room had toys that kept my young ones entertained.
Staff were friendly too.
Loved it! The room was very cozy and dreamy haha.. perfect spot for holidays! Loved the stay thanks guys!!
Great place to stay near bike trails. Rode to the MTB shuttle pick up 3 mins ride via the underpass. Had the 3 Hot pools to ourselves Saturday evening. Showers were nice. Handy sheltered boardwalk from my RV to the bathroom. Dog friendly.
It's been a long time since our family used to holiday here , but there was some good memories. Unfortunately the camp facilities haven't been upgraded for so many years that it's got very tacky . Like parts of Rotorua , there seems to be a bit of neglect until someone steps in and makes a sweeping change .
The camp is like a park with so many trees , but it must take a lot of work to look after such a big place . I believe upgrades are scheduled soon .
This is usually the go to spot when staying in Rotorua. It's rather open so easy to park your car and lock up the bikes. Last time I was in Rotorua accidentally booked this place for the wrong dates and they were happy to isssue me a fully refund which I was very pleased about.
We stayed in the 2 room motel and everything about the room was fine.
Nice hotpools. Childrens playground and other facilities were a little basic and slightly rundown.
Nice quiet location to get around the town but a card is needed here.
well situated just outside of town and close to the red wood forest. Cabins serves four, which meant it was spacious for the two of us. Basic but clean and decent. Curtains were very effective at blocking out light.
Very welcoming and helpful ladies at reception, lovely holiday park great/clean facilities and very safe. Loved the hot pools We had a powered site with our 2 kids. Highly recommended
Came for one night, stayed for three. This place has amazing thermal pools, including a “cold” swimming pool which was heated to a delicious 30 degrees while we were there.
The park is well laid out, with established hedges for privacy and noise protection from the nearby road. It works - we were not disturbed by road noise at all.
The ablutions are older but clean and well maintained, and I defy you to find a better shower 🚿 in any campground!! Hot, intense pressure and FREEEEEEE. Amazing.
Highly recommend this place for a family holiday or a couples escape. It’s lovely.
The cleanest and best campsite for our campervan trip! Kitchen toilet are clean and tidy, space are great! There are only 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms in gents, so might queue for shower. 👍
We loved our stay here, kids loved the pools, tennis, open space etc. The team in reception were very friendly and helpful
Will be looking to stay here again.
The best thing about this caravan park is the showers are very high pressure and very hot, and also there are hot spring baths which are a treat. Everything else is very dirty and/or old. Van sites are big but no privacy. Also no power points in the kitchen?? There’s one in the bathroom and one in the laundry. Expensive for what it is!
Have stayed here several times over the last few years. Good value, helpful staff. And the hot pools included a great incentive to return.
Pools may have been a bit overdue for a vacuum. I'm going to miss the trees, but they needed to come down alright.
The five of us, including three children stayed for two nights and enjoy the unlimited access to hot pools nearly three times a day! The staff is helpful welcoming and friendly. We even forgot to get our discount on our arrival and we got a refound on our way out! Very relaxing, quiet and kids friendly. Highly recommend!
Stayed in a six person dorm. Room was clean as were the bathrooms. They were able to store our luggage in their office for the day. We tried out the thermal pools and they were lovely.
Another great stay. Great location , for me.
Clean and plenty of room on the grounds. Deduct 1 star for the pools going from mineral - oh the joy -to ornery chlorinated pools we can get anywhere.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. The staff are amazing people. Great location and the hot pools are great after a long day on the bike.
Best part of this place is the pool. It's deep (not ok for little ones unless you hold them or they are great swimmers. We stayed in the front section by the pool which had more dirt than grass (everything was covered in dirt by the end of our trip) and the ground was very uneven. It looked like the ground and amenities were nicer towards the back of the facility. The water pressure was great in the first toilet block but the shower area was small and hard to keep your stuff dry while showering. Seeing as the pool was the best part of our stay, it was disappointing when it closed at 8:30, which felt too early at the time.
We have been going camping to this place for years but havnt been for the last 2, 3 years due to covid. There has been so much changes and the cabins have been renewed and upgraded as well as the pool. Always enjoy sitting in the hot pools its one of the highlight of this place. We always enjoyed our stays and we will always go back unless they can't accommodate us. Thanks for having us.
Look it is nothing fancy but it’s all you need its a great place that is affordable, clean rooms, clean showers and kitchen and a great hot pool!
This is a first class park. The dining room facilities were great with at least 8 individual food prep areas (range, sink and counter space) and BBQS. Showers were clean with lots of hot water. A nice touch was a wooden board walk (with lights in the evening) from our site to the communal facilities. And the best part was the thermal pools for a nice relaxing soak!!
Have stayed here 2019 and 2020 over New Years. I really do like this no frills holiday park. Adequate amenities - kitchen, laundry, pool, spa, TV room. Would be good to see a few more shower cubicles or amenities closer to the rugby field where we were tenting but other than that our group of 5 families love this park. The staff are also amazing and friendly to deal with.
Good location for staying if you are mountain biking in the Whakarewarewa Forest. Stayed in a cabin near the back of the campground, it was very dark along the side of the cabin where you parked the car. Also no wifi included in your room fee.
This is more a camping than a hostel. Dorms are in little rooms, too small for 6 beds, but I never be with more than 2 persons even if in high season.
Cooking is not comfortable if you don’t have your necessary items.
But I must say is clean and safe, and for bikers it’s a luxury to have a bike storage for the night and a bike wash area. I also appreciate the free thermal pools, not very clean but it’s a plus for a cheap place like this. 90% of the staff was nice.
The campsite is located close to all main tourist attraction and the city centre. The facilities were clean and we especially liked that there is a sheltered excess to the campsites for when its raining.
Spent a weekend here for a family get together. The motels are well appointed and very clean and tidy.
The abolution block was clean but I found it dated and very cold while I was there.
Some kind of heating would make the showering experience more pleasant
Heating in the huts was very very good.
Very natural and misty places. You will get to see geysers and hot thermal pools. The city itself have steam coming up on the side of the road as Rotorua have volcanoes underneath it. Definitely worth the trip.
I stayed in a 6 bed dorm for $30 pn. The dorm had microwave, toaster and jug, 2 ring hotplate. It had a heater so it was nice and warm in the middle of winter. Free thermal pools. There are 3 pools if different temperatures and a family pool. Laundry takes 2× $2 coins for washer and dryer. Lots of cabins plus park up spots. Great campsite and handy for the city.
Upon arrival the place looks a bit shoddy. We stayed a few nights. The pitches weren't great as the road needs resurfacing. The hot pools were quite nice. Kitchen was pretty clean and easy to use. Bathrooms coukd do with a bit of work. Probably a great place to stay with kids in the summer.
The site is great, lots of open space. Our older kids used the fields for a kick around. Hot pools a bonus. Our older style unit was adequate but in need of a makeover. It could have slept 10 but the living area is really only for 4. Would return to a newer unit.
Nice place, good location, we stayed with our campervan, good distribution of space, common areas are well taken care of, wifi is ok 1Gb per day and you can buy extra if you need.
Myself and two little ones stayed in a log cabin ensuite 2nd time, was a good cabin for us plenty of room good for family. The playground needs a good upgrade and a trampoline would be ideal there. Also a tramp would be ideal on the grass knoll by the pool would be a great place. Bit dark out around at night but besides that good stay.
Good location for exploring the area. Pitches are fairly close to each other with no dividing hedges, etc. The toilet block was clean but only 2 individual and 2 double showers, but a plus was free hot water in the showers which wasn't on a timer. Free thermal hot tubs.
Enjoyed my stay recently ladies on reception when we arrived and when we left were lovely and friendly. Unit was spotless and very comfy. Slightly disappointed that the kitchenette unit only contains a toaster, microwave and kettle with no running water, so not really what id call a kitchenette, but this didn't dampen our stay. The hot pools here more than make up for the kitchenette misunderstanding. Will definitely come back. Great value for money.
We stayed in the cabins, and they were very affordable ($21.50 each/night). The cabins were well maintained, everything was clean and all facilities were available. The holiday park also doubles as a very nice private park for customers to enjoy. The one let down was the poor quality of the bathrooms. They were full of spiders (even saw a white tail in there) and looked like they were cleaned once a week. This was the only major downside to the lovely Holiday Park.
Had the chance to come here this time. Booked the Standard Log Cabin. It has the heater just to keep warm inside. Also we can park our car just beside the cabin.
We managed to use the geothermal heated pool (which is free for use). Enjoyed it!
Highly recommended as this place is clean and facilities are tip top 👍
We spent the night in the studio cabin. Had 2 sets of bunks and a mini kitchenette.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Quiet and close to the shared kitchen and bathrooms. Pools were awesome nice and relaxing. Highly reccomend this holiday park. 👍
Has a small play structure, but there were a lot of kids and my son made a lot of friends.
Kitchen was decent with a lot of cooking stations and a dining room to eat. The kitchen does close from 11pm to 5am. Bathrooms could use some updating. There are herb gardens for the kitchen, and chickens and friendly cats roaming the property.
The camper van spots are small, had very little grass and hard to park into..
Very close (walking distance) to Te Puia. It’s about a 2-3km drive to the restaurants. This is away from the rest of Rotorua, which we liked.
The thermal pools are a nice addition to this camp ground, especially if you're not planning to go to any of the thermal spas in the area. Kitchen, bathrooms, showers all good, camping spot was relatively spacious and level. Lots of happy friendly campers about!
The place is very cozy. I've booked a cabin and was very clean. The shared areas were clean and you can enjoy a hot mineral pool. The only point is that you have to rent kitchen supplies if you don't have your own.
Decent holiday park having a range of accommodation options. Facilities are OK and one needs to understand what one is paying for. The rooms look bigger in the pictures than in reality. The shared toilets and kitchen spaces are OK but can be ill maintained at times. On site manager is available mostly but one have to call them to address any concerns in after hours and availability is not easy. The surroundings can be cold due to the open location. Can be considered if anything better is not available in the area.
Powered sites was good. Good location. Clean facilities.
This is our go to camp in Rotorua. Winter or summer it's magic. Reception is always welcoming. Grounds are lovely spacious and beautiful mature trees give the place a park like look. Our wee dog always loved exploring ...on leash...the extensive grounds.
We look forward to coming again soon.
Really liked tenting here last week. Facilities are clean and tidy. Loads of fridges and cooking space, they provide dishwash and even a hairdryer. Lots of rubbish bins, friendly staff. Lovely herb gardens and mineral pools. One star dropped as one of the mineral pools was disgusting...loads of plant matter and obvious skin particles, other 3 very clean so we stuck to them. Very good value for money as a tenter and will be camping here again. Edited for spelling.
We had a great time at Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park. The staff are so friendly, joyful and informative. Glenys was even so helpful to walk all the way to our Campervan to give us an update on a booking we were trying to make.
There is so much space for camping and Campervans unlike other sites we stayed at.
Thank you to the staff for making our stay so easy :)
This is my second time camping here with family and friends. The environment here is very good and the facilities are complete. The swimming pool and spa pool are very clean. The kitchen and bathroom are also very tidy. Public facilities can be used for free. I have recommended it to my friends and colleagues.
We just got a little log cabin for 2 adults 2 kids for a one night stay fresh linen and towels with basic necessity the room warms up nice with a wall heater free acess to the thermal pools and community kitchen was tidy and convenient with showers and toilets close by
Hi well maintained campsite, lovely hot pools, close to bike trails, Redwood Forest, lakes etc. A good stroll into town, golf course alongside, pohutu geyser, with kiwi viewing etc. Booked two nights, stayed four. Good value. H
Needed a power site but the one I got was really tiny and not flat. Kitchen is nice although you have to bring all your stuffs. Amenities are well maintained but were disgusting in the morning thanks to some selfish campers. Oh and there was no hot water anymore after 11pm... Staff is really friendly though
Lady in reception was kind, proffessional with smile and patience.
A bit dated and not particularly clean.
The family cabin (sleeps 5) was tiny so we had to leave our bags in the car. The bunk bed even covered part of the front door.
One over full fridge only in the kitchen available to us which meant we couldn't even squeeze our bags of food in. This meant selecting a few items to chill scattered around the fridge. Which were then taken by other campers. Sad but true.
It was great to have pools available to the kids, and also great thats its dog friendly but it could have been a better experience for us.
Nice Hot Pools with amazing pressured shower. Close to town .Good for couple days camping. Staff are amazing. Well kept Clean site for its age. Will highly recommend. 👍
Lovely holiday park. Great for family and for camping. I stayed on their dorm room and it has fridge, microwave, toaster and hob. Beds are ok but best to bring your own sheets. They have bike wash and storage and location is close to Waipa MTB park.
Cabins were very clean and comfortable. Great quality beds and pillows. Shower had great pressure. Hot pools were great..look forward to a 4th stay in the future.
Why have we only just found out about this gem?! A cute log cabin, complete with a queen bed, bunks, bathroom, kitchenette, dining table, plenty of space for luggage, cosy bedding, ample parking, thermal heated pools, tranquil surroundings and no road noise - all for $110 per night! Wonderful.
Absolutely lovely facilities, the cold pool is a beautiful addition to the muscle relaxing hot pools. You have many activities that are a quick 5 minute drive away from as well, allowing you to romp around and come back and cool down or soak the aches away.
Been here before many years back great to see they have expanded and still looking clean and tidy. Prices are also very good. They have 4 hot pools, fun park for the children, cafe when it's open! And a large outdoors Chess game.
The staff is excellent, the room is amazing. The geothermal hot pool hit the spot! However, all of the facilities are quite outdated. They function to a degree but could use some 21st century touches.
Great little room, should have booked one with bathroom in it but they weren't far away.
Could use a few updates, but all is forgiven given the lack of international tourists these days. We really enjoyed our stay. Being right off the main highway if you're close to the road you'll probably have early mornings due to trucks rolling by, but I would definitely stay here again.
Not related to the campground, but be aware dogs are banned from the Rotorua CBD which really impacted our holiday.
Excellent accommodation, lots of range of rooms and facilities. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I'd say the place is a 4 star overall. But I'm gonna give it a 5 because currently the camp cat is snuggled up on my bunk ❤
Had a wonderful night stay at their tent site. Polite staff and price is just about right. One thing that didn't go well was the condition of swimming pool in the evening. My wife wanted a swim but pool water didn't look tidy so decided not to. All in all a good stay though.
Very nice Holiday park, cabin was just the right size for two adults and two kids, heater was perfect. Pool was awesome, kids enjoyed it in the evening and first thing in the morning.
Pleasant place to stay!
Couple of not so good things, between website and reception, we werent exactly sure what we were paying for?
And as small as no wine glasses in our cabin, which had an ensuite and kitchenette.
We did enquire, but got a flat no that cabin doesnt have wine glasses!
Would have been nice to sip our wine out of a wine glass rather than a normal glass!
Ensure you know what you are paying for :))
Stayed here a few times in a non-powered camp site. Facilities are clean, staff are friendly, showers are hot and included, hot pools are a huge bonus and location is great.
The sliding doors of the dining room are worn out to the point there are big gaps in between them and they let the breeze in, gets super cold in winter, no free wifi is annoying. other than that decent holiday park
Good cabin and well organized park. Our only issue was it was very hot inside, no air con (not surprising), and no insect screens on windows. Cool thermal pool - free!
Nice place but the pool is tiny. Play gound is very basic and wifi 20G $40 wow. Handy to everything get if u hav bikes. Big ground lots of space bummer the Flora and fauna triggered my asthma 🤧 and had to leave.
Love this holiday camp. Yes, it is older, but it's extremely clean and close to everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent amenities, and the hot pools are great after a busy day sightseeing. Will be back.
Stayed on a powered site with campervan . Friendly and helpful staff . Clean toilets, shower, kitchen and lounge . Easy to get in and out of town
Stopped overnight in the motorhome, awesome stay, friendly service, clean, very good facilities, quiet green outlook, dogs allowed, will stay again. Thanks 😊
Great holiday park option. They utilize the natural hot springs, though the water is placed inside of 3 communal tubs. One of the microwaves did not work, but other than that we enjoyed our stay.
My rating is for the camping part. Facilities are cleaned often, fridges and freezers available and they have a little herb garden for you to use while cooking. Pools are nice but can be crowded, pick the right time!
Excellent extra massive holiday park. Great staff and awesome facilities. The hot pools are amazing and the outdoor pool is really nice too.
Best camping ground iv been to yet.
Service was great and room was good but the bunks were extremely squeaky so our kids ending up putting the mattresses on the ground to sleep and some things may need a bit of an update but overall was a great place to stay. We would come back definitely
Awesome place to stay for a night or few.
$20 per adult to camp $15 per child per night. Access to showers, toilets, cooking facilities and even a TV room for the kids.
Open space and good facilities.
You even get access to the hotpools too👌👌
This is our first experience with holiday park 😊
Good to know to stay one night to understand the way the holiday park run.
Nice experience ✌️
The only problem is the heater, it stop after working about half an hour and all night long even the power is on, not working.
It was 2degrees celcius, lucky we have double blanket in the room.
When we checked out and told about the heater, the staff explained that it will automatically off in certain conditions, I have to turn it off then turn it on while after, sadly this info I had after check out 😅
Just what you need at a holiday park, the swimming pool and spas are nice. Kitchens were in good order and the shower pressure was great. Short drive to the main town. It's close to the mountain bike park too.
The campsites near the pool are very small / cramped and the building there is old and not maintained. Building near the campervan and non powered camp sites is much nicer. Choose your campsites carefully. Pools are good, location good.
We had a cabin and it was lovely and clean. Had everything we needed. Nice spacious place. Would go back for sure.
Have Kids and want a place to stay where you can be entertained? Best Holiday Park in the North Island. Have been coming here since i was a teenager and the new renovations are brilliant. The outside heated pools are great on the wintery days especially if you have been out for a tramp or a bike ride.
Perfectly serviceable 'municipal' camp ground. Bit rough and ready but facilities generally clean. Friendly, allsorts kinda place. Bit noisy at weekend, even off season so may be full on during summer. Handy by car to town center. Good stretch if you plan to walk.
Have camped here a few times and stayed in their cabins. The facilities are a little old and most things could do with a reno. Great place to stay though.
Kids enjoyed the playground and it's a nice walk around the site in the mornings.
Great spot to pull in and spend the night. Room was basic but that's all I needed. Toilets and kitchen were great. Lovely area to walk around. Hot pool was great at night. Would stay again if ever in rotorua.
Close to town. Showers were nice and hot. Camp sites were nice, ground could do some work to make it more flat for tents and campervans. The mineral pool is really good though, would highly recommend you check it out
Definitely recommend, WiFi had issues connecting but not an issue if you have plenty of data. Great for kids and pools
Booked a powered site--bathroom was outdated and a bit dirty but shower pressure and hot water was good. Was quiet and the rooms look decent despite not staying in them. Short drive to town.
Amazing, friendly staff. Familial atmosphere. Unique thermal sulphate pools. Idyllic location. WiFi. Comfort personified. An absolute must visit and stay for Kiwi tourists and especially overseas visitors. Unequalled, anywhere I've stayed.
What a great holiday park. The room had everything we needed, even a chromecast.
They offer wifi bundles, and wifi is accessible all over the place, even at the pool.
There are bbq facilities, and a communal kitchen area.
The hot water pools were great to warm up our girls after swimming in the cold pool for hours.
10/10 would go there again
Great place to stay, Staff were so pleasant and helpful it made our holiday.
Would defiantly recommend the motel room if you can stretch to it, but the cabin was lovely and snug too.
We stayed in a log cabin which was lovely and clean, sheets/ bedding were fresh etc, had a heater with a thermostat which kept the room nice and warm overnight, had everything we needed and the bonus was we were allowed to bring our 2 small dogs! Staff are great and it's not over priced for families!
This place was such a great find for the price! $20NZ for an unpowered tent site that includes access to nice shower facilities and thermal pools on property! You can also purchase very fast and dependable wifi which is accessible anywhere on the property for $5 24hr access and a generous GB usage cap. It was great to find a spot near a picnic table to enjoy a meal w/a btl of wine in pretty much my own solitude and then venture to the thermal pools for an after-dinner soak under the stars!
It was a nice quiet stay and the check-in process was very expedient. The staff was also very nice. I did not have a res here, just popped in and they were able to accommodate me immediately. They even recommended a place nearby for me to grab a burger and explained how to navigate the grounds and the hours of the pools.
Very nice and affordable stay in Rotorua!
Always a great place to stay, close to the Whakarewarewa forest (close enough to ride to, which is a major bonus!) We had a powered campervan spot which was nice and close to the toilet and shower facilities and the hotpools. The facilities are a little tired, but are clean and tidy. Will be back 👍🏻
A nice camp ground somewhat spoiled by a very abrupt woman on reception who seemed very put out that she had to interrupt doing nothing to serve me. Due to lockdown, I asked if I could pay for ten days but if we had to leave to get home due to a change in alert levels, receive a refund for the night's outstanding. NO. So, every three days I went back and paid again. Very inflexible. All the other staff seemed like nice folk, but it only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bag. Still enjoyed our stay but I think in future, would look for other options.
Awesome place! Especially if you are visiting for MTBing, short ride to Redwoods on cyclepath. Good facilities, everything was clean and we'll kept. Friendly staff. Hot pools were great after a hard day on the trails.
They have also a bunch of 6 people dorm rooms with parking just upfront, including a kitchenette. Free hot pools, close to Roturoa and all the main sights. Showers and toilets are functional, hairdryer available. Also have BBQ and outdoor swimming pool. Spend great two nights there!
The log cabin was warm and had basic amenities. The hot pool was good and enjoyed by all our family. Location is perfect for access to mountain bike park.
The grounds are very well maintained as well as the cabins. Good stuff. Facilities are out dated, I think adds the kiwi camping experience! Good value for money
Awesome place to stay. Very comfortable and also they’ve got heated swimming pools and hot mineral pools man just awesome. Not to forget good scenic views too. 😍😍😍
Great holiday park, ample space and friendly people. Kids had a ball and we will be back again.
Thermal pools are just the thing after a day of activities. Close to redwoods forest for those wishing to get amongst nature.
We will be there again for sure. Impecable facilities, quiet, nice camping grounds. Yeah, it's a bit pricey but it's worth. They even have a place to clean your bike yourself.
Thanks a lot.
Stayed 1 night, 3 adults in the standard cabin. Did us fine. Warm and clean facilities. The pools were closed that was a bummer.
My husband & I have recently stayed in an ensuite cabin. We have stayed at the park on several occasions & obviously kept returning as it is a lovely camp. We had an unusual experience this last time. A cherry picker was being driven through the camp at about 11.30pm,evidently by the security officer who, by the sound of it, was unaccustomed to driving same by the din he made.
It can be expensive but its near to a lot of tourism place. Well saying that most of the motel / hotel / accomodation here near to everything but its near to the pohutu geyser and not so far from luge. Bicycle rent and can cycle around the area. Got a rugby field, bbq place, place to wash your biki etc. Stay there for 1 night but the ambient was nice. Can stargaze at night, quiet and chill. Just ignore the smelly 'rotten egg'...its normal on this area. Have a look on other reviewer but this is mine.
Took my son and cousin on holiday there and we had an absolute blast. The staff were very accommodating and lovely. The holiday park it self is lovely. Carters to all kids ages. Loved the play ground too.
RTHP was a good venue. Nice and clean. Pools were great. Best showers eva! Close to activities that we did. Rainbow Mt and Waimangu volcanic valley. Nice with big trees. Went after school holidays. Not too busy.
Units are very small with absolute minimal supplies but fine for a short stay. Probably bring some cleaning stuff for the bbq. It wasn't clean at all.
Was a well kept place even though I did not go camping myself the camp grounds had each a power/electrical point were people can set up a power lights and other things I stayed in the cabins there they weren't quite as roomy as I hoped for but it was big enough of place for me to sleep and I was happy to sleep there
Nice people, beautiful location and thermal sights are memorable for
me and my wife Clera .India Pathankot.
My family love this park. We've stayed in almost all the different types of accommodation, and found that we got exactly what we wanted. Great atmosphere too
You get what you paid for. Staff at reception didn't seem very hospitable. Glad to see the communal bathrooms were renovated recently.
In a good location for sites around Rotorua especially the southern side. Park has thermal bath to relax in for free. An older park, it seems to be well maintained with an excellent communal kitchen and laundry area. Showers and dunnies good.
I very much enjoyed staying at this holiday park.
The staff are extremely nice and the hot pools are excellent.
I stay here on two different occasions and enjoyed the experience both times.
I would definitely stay here again if I had the chance.
Great place to stay. We spent 2 night's in one of the log cabins. Also used the heated pool.
Great for facilities for campers and in a great location for visiting the area.
Hot springs are a great bonus.
Good place for a quick relaxing time. Fairly priced. Camping ground was clean and neat. Ablution facility was good but they need some maintenance.
Nice little holiday park, good amenities and warm hot pools. The staff were friendly staff and is well priced. Will definitely return.
Great place to stay with a campvan great hot pool and it's included in your camp fees. It it's also a great place to stay as the park is set up with large hedges that help filter out the rotton egg smell that is everywhere in rotorua
We were attending a wedding in Rotorua and had a group of 18 that spanned 5 different families. The team at Rotorua Thermal were extremely helpful sorting all the requirements for us. There was plenty of variety of accommodation to meet everyone's needs
Came with 2 preschoolers. They loved it. Big outdoor pool warm enough in winter even and then several mineral pools with different heat. Great fun.
Really friendly and helpful staff. And the price ist ok, because you can use HotPools for free. Only bad thing is, there are no power plugs in the kitchen
Great spot, facilities clean and tidy and handy for bike rides
Having 16 shaver mirrors yet 4 showers in one male ablution block seems a little odd, but the park is amazing and thermal pools are great.
Great, spacious, clean and everything you would need in the cabin. Was unable to see what else they had as it was a pit stop for the night.
location and facilities were fantastic. Located near enough to everything you want and with well maintained facilities including hot and cold pools, fantastic.
It is a really organised, tidy and beautiful place, not too close not too far from the city centre is perfect. we have a great time here. I truly recommend it.
Had a beaut time. Friendly staff.
Kitchen was always clean.
Bathrooms and showers well lit.
Cat friendly.
very peaceful spot in Rotorua city. or very close to city. spacious and nice big old trees everywhere. the pools are excellent. seems well managed :)
Very simple park. Not a lot of room for each site. Good location. A fine thermal pool (which basically every place has in rotorua)
Free hot thermal baths, swimming pool, lots of kitchens and bathrooms across the park. It even has a TV room. Close to everything and great amenities.
Nice large area for groups. Shower and toilet area clean and tidy but needs to be freshened up. Paint etc
Great place to stay. Very nice welcoming by staff, really helpful to choose plans and activities. Good location for visiting Te Puia and Rotorua area.
Heater was not very efficient. Bed was great. Pools awesome to be able to have a soak late at night.
Caters for everyone and we even took the dog. Lots of fun and exciting things to do with the family. Cant wait to book our next holiday
comfortable and cozy, good playing place for childrenI am satisfied with its hot poop
we had a wonderful relaxing experience here at the park. no noice and plenty of area to walk around.
They are so helpful and on not far from main city for restaurants and they have everything you need in the holiday park
Friendly campsite at the entrance to the town. Proximity to the road which is not annoying however. Pleasant staff. Old but clean sanitary facilities. A little far from the city center..Ideal when you are passing through for a few days
The dormitory is basic but with a water point, an electric hob and a fridge.
The microwave doesn't work.
The plus is access to the hot water thermal pool.
3-4km from the center... A good walk!
The smell of sulfur is omnipresent.
When you arrive everything is fine, the staff friendly as expected. Although as soon as you enter they tell you that the Wi-Fi is 1 GB per day. In addition to it being limited, the quality of the Wi-Fi is questionable, and you have to go to reception every day to get a new code. It's tiring. I stayed in a shared dormitory, it is good with a refrigerator, microwave and some stoves to cook. The beds are uncomfortable, or I had the deepest mattress in the campsite (although it seems that the other kid who was there also had it). They do not include a towel 😒. It's a family place, so expect teenagers/children making a fuss in the morning (my last night at 6:00 there was already a loud group outside). The laundry costs 8 NZD (plus detergent), the bathrooms that way... It's okay, but details like the towels, the wifi and the cost of the laundry leave you a little looking stupid.
Nice campsite with clean bathrooms (even if a little basic), free Wi Fi (1 GB per day for each smartphone or tablet), functional showers, laundry and a nice communal kitchen where you can also have a meal.
Extremely friendly staff remains a great location to visit the Rotorua district
Excellent Cabin in Rotorua
We took the Cabin without the bathroom for four people and had a very good time. Even though we started out skeptical, the cabin was very clean and welcoming and the heating worked very well. The bathrooms were very clean and close to our accommodation. The property also offers several heated pools, a game room with ping pong, and a community room with kitchenettes and microwaves and dining tables.
There is a supermarket not too far away but don't make the same mistake as us and don't leave food there too long otherwise the ants will come!
The area is populated by numerous and very different birds.
Very recommended!
It's always great to stay here, there are options for all tastes and budgets. There are chalets, rooms, options for camping in tents or in your own car. There are thermal water pools, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and much more. I highly recommend it.
You need your own dishes. In the kitchen only every other tap works. Facilities are very basic. Okay for one night, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.
We took a log cabin here. It had a double bed and two bunk beds with a kitchenette that had a microwave. The hotel had a sauna. The only downside is that the bathroom was very small. It was on the outskirts of Rotorua but everything was very close to drive
Kind of well organized campsite. It also has houses with private bathrooms. Coin-operated laundry service and shared kitchen. Everything very clean
Nice place to spend a few days in Rotorua.
The employees were all very friendly. The toilets and showers were clean. There is a hairdryer for the women and also for the men. The showers have warm water. There are 4 hot pools that invite you to relax. Very pleasant especially at night with the starry sky.
The kitchen was also clean during our stay.
Pleasant campsite with several small hot water swimming pools.
Lots of traffic, but quiet together; clean and fairly well equipped kitchen, numerous bathrooms. Laundry. Very well organized waste sorting. Efficient welcome. I went there twice (beginning and end of stay).
Good location. I recommend.
Development work is underway. New swimming pool almost finished at the end of November 2018.
The Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park is just a few hundred metres from "Te Puia". Every now and then you can smell the sulphurous smell that is so typical in Rotorua and the surrounding area. But we didn't find it particularly disturbing.||||We had an en-suite log cabin for 70 NZD plus 5 NZD for bedding and towels. The cabin was very simply furnished and quite dark due to the wood panelling. A fairly narrow double bed and a bunk bed were in the main room, behind which was the small bathroom. A fridge, kettle and toaster as well as a few mugs were the only kitchen items; there was no cutlery.||||A few metres away we were able to use the free gas grill, which wasn't particularly clean but worked. Aluminium foil or something similar is recommended. Tables and washing up facilities in the communal kitchen were tidy and quite spacious. ||||The hot springs on site are free to use and are in good condition.||||For the price, it is certainly an acceptable place to stay in touristy Rotorua, but definitely not an accommodation worth highlighting.
We discovered this campsite the day we went to visit Te Puia to see the night show. When we left we found this campsite 500 meters from the entrance. ||||As we arrived after 20:30 they had already left the office, but there was a sign saying where we could park the caravan and pay the next day. ||||The common areas were clean and relatively new. ||||As we saw that there were thermal pools, when I went to pay in the morning I asked if we could stay a little longer because we arrived late and couldn't swim. They told us that we could stay until 11 without any problem. They were kind and pleasant in their treatment. ||||The pools are amazing, they have different temperatures so you can go from one to another. They are very nice and are perfect for chatting with other users
Lots of space, offers thermal bath, but the services, especially sanitary facilities, are really average. Very quiet, very pleasant for a short stay. Suitable for a non-demanding request, very good reception at reception
Campsite in Rotorua, one of the advantages of which is having a hot pool. When it works unfortunately. Lots of space in the off-season. Really gloomy kitchen and toilets, despite a rather nice social area otherwise (special mention to the campsite cat, very affectionate). Very reasonable price for Rotorua. Management a bit weak on the other hand: we, foreigners and tourists in New Zealand, had to take care of repairing the wifi ourselves, which was out of order with the local internet service provider...
Overall, the campsite is disappointing, even if it does have some positive points:||- Reception: cold and impersonal welcome. ||- cabin: the cabin is spacious. A double bed and a bunk bed (4 beds in total). The bedding in the double bed was very good. A small table and silent radiator.|The cabin is raised on stilts, it is very dirty underneath (cans, plastic waste, cigarette butts, etc.). ||- kitchen: the kitchen is too small (only 4 tables) and overloaded. The fridges are stormed. They are dirty and full of food lying around in disarray. Approximate cleaning.|No tables outside to eat. Only one small BBQ next to the dining room. ||- bathroom: bathroom too small (2 showers and 3 toilets for women). It is dirty and old. Hot water is unlimited.||- the pool was under construction but there are thermal water baths.||Overall expensive and disappointing ($80/night). The common areas are undersized, poorly equipped and aging. On the other hand, the cabin and the location close to the city are satisfactory. There is hot water.
Campsite very well located in relation to the Te Puia site (you can get there on foot), also well placed in relation to the magnificent Waimangu Volcanic Valley (which I highly recommend, to be preferred by far to Te Puia) as well as to the very beautiful site of Wai o Tapu. Also close to Redhoods forest and blue and green lake. Splendid sites.||The campsite could do with a good refresh because the style of the facilities and chalet in particular in which we stayed is a little old but everything is functional. Correct cleanliness in shared toilets but nothing more.||A lot of facilities in this campsite, heated swimming pool and hotpool appreciable.||So to summarize, a campsite a little old but well located.||Good welcome.
Move on... |The staff is really unpleasant, the common areas are dirty, the same for the toilets.... you have to pay extra for wifi, no towels, dirty carpet in the cabin... ||In addition, we had booked a cabin with a kitchen (sink, hob and fridge) but when we arrived the cabin did not correspond to what we had booked on the Internet. |No kitchen, just a kettle and a microwave. |The staff told us that they no longer had a cabin available with a kitchen. We asked for a refund of the difference, because we had a room lower than what we had booked. They refused because we had booked online.|No friendliness, no service, they even looked down on us... |It's a shame, I've been traveling around the world for 10 months and we have never been so badly received!|
