A.We loved our stay at Terume, such nice and friendly owners, the hot spring is so relaxing even on a summer evening! It just relaxes your body before you head off to relax some more in your recently renovated rooms! The facilities are impeccable and location is central! Highly recommended!

The front gate was locked at night for security reasons, which I think was a pretty smart idea and made us feel safer and more relaxed. Entry was still accessible for us when we came back late as the gate key was provided at check-in.
Would recommend to everyone looking for accommodations in Rotorua.
O.What a great find this hotel was! The hot pools were really just like Japanese onsen. So relaxing and your skin will feel lovely and smooth after bathing. The room we stayed in was lovely and clean with modern style, and had everything we needed. I really liked the extra two chairs and small table in the room. The room was also nice and warm which is important on chilly winter nights after bathing. My only wish is that we could stay in each onsen longer than 30 minutes because I didn't want to leave them, but you can enter the onsen 3 times a day which is good. I would definitely like to stay here again!
Y.The motel is Cozy and clean inside, with a new reno. Nice towels, good tv, good bedding. Japanese simplicity in a good way. The hot pool was nice, but from 3 tubes only one is actually opened. From outside it looks very ugly, so don’t be surprised.

K.Best onsen / Ryokan experience in Australia / New Zealand. This feels as close to a Ryokan in Japan anywhere in the region. I was blown away by how silky our skin felt after soaking in the hot springs. For each over night stay you can book 1 afternoon (4-7pm), 1 evening (7.30-10.30pm) and 1 morning (7-10am), half hour bookings each time. Our deluxe studio was very spacious and recently renovated (it was very very clean), wifi was good enough for browsing or watching streaming services.
To the customer who gave a bad review recently, at any Ryokan, keep noise to an acceptable level (other guests do not like loud or boisterous behaviour) and don't invite friends around - this is a typical condition of any Ryokan.
Gates are locked around 9pm, and your room key has access to open and close the gate. This is done to keep guests safe and stop non-guests from accessing the facilities.
We are definitely coming back on our next trip to NZ.
G.Friendly staff and easy place to relax at. Outdoor pool is worth the stay and very close to town for walking about. Front gate locks at night so security in mind also.

H.Me and my partner, we went to this onsen (hot spring )motel on 1th of August 2020.
The room was very clean and comfortable. also, toilet and shower room was very clean as well. the onsen was so nice! there are indoor and outdoor onsen which has a white and yellow green colour water of the indoor onsen. it is a very hot water. I loved it!!! keep your body all day warm :)))
One thing that I didn't like. it was a people's noise from the up stair.
The owner has change to new owner now. he was very polite and good customer service.
I recommend to everybody who want to go to real mineral onsen for having a relax of your body. Cheers!!!
M.Very nice hot spring experience as if you were in Japan, but at the same time you're aware that you're in Rotorua (if that makes sense). The room was super clean and nice. The hotel owner was very friendly. Highly recommended.

E.Such a good winter escape! The onsen were really well heated, and the outdoor one in particular was perfect under the stars at night. I did find it would have leaves from the tree falling in quite often, but that will be due to the time of year. There are also two smaller indoor onsen which can be booked privately.
Location is good, walking distance to the city centre, and parking available. Would definitely come back.
Couple of notes, if you go into this expecting a full resort you may be disappointed. This is a decent motorinn with two types of onsen available to use. Some reviews have commented that the rooms are bad - there are some that have been renovated and some that are old style. You will be given the option, and the old style is cheaper. So don't worry about those reviews!
If I could suggest one improvement to the owners, I would have loved a bathrobe and/or bath slippers to get to and from the onsen. I think that would help with the "resort" vibe more too.

M.We stayed here for two nights and loved it. I am absolutely going to be coming here again in the future. The proprietor (Raymond) is extremely helpful and polite, and the onsen baths--oh my god the onsen baths. I don't want to sound like a gaijin but it was beyond amazing for me and I spent as much time in them as my wife would allow. The entire environs are excellent and of the many places we stayed in New Zealand, the rooms here were some of the most spacious and comfortable.
A+++(++++++). We will definitely be staying here again, many times.
If you are going to Rotorua, stay here!
C.Raymond and his wife made our stay very special especially when we just turned up without any reservation. They are fair people with a good heart, only if I had a house next to them they'd be my good neighbours for sure. Cheers for the good memories.

The room is not a Japanese-style room, but it is clean. My husband is not Japanese but it is friendly and helpful. It seems to be a popular inn, so if you stay here, you will be lucky.
