B. M.Very warm welcome by Nicky when we checked in, and shortly after we found our room I had to go back and speak to her regarding a minor issue with the oven, which she helped with immediately.
Very comfortable, warm, well-appointed suite, we loved our 4 nights here. Full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. We were right at the back of the property, but even from there we had beautiful views of the lake. Easy walk to the town centre, and we felt safe walking back from a restaurant at night.
Parking was a bit tight at times, but we always managed to find one.
Lovely lush gardens through the property. The Daphne smelled so good.
Laundry was handy, washing machine was free to use, dryer was $3 coin-operated which would be fine but it left my towels still wet. But the weather was great the day I did laundry, so I was able to make good use of the large washing line area on the rooftop outside the laundry.
We would love to stay at Ika Nui if we ever holiday in Taupō again, it was an absolute pleasure.
P. P. B.Great time even though the unlucky wet weather in Taupo during our stay. The room facilities are perfect to us with fully function kitchen and dishwasher. There is also laundry area in the compound. Kids love the indoor heated pool so much that they said can leave here forever 😭. Game room has table tennis. TV has some kid channels.
A. M.One of the only Motels booked out in Taupo on a Tuesday...I wonder why !! Great location, rooms where absolutely spectacular, very spacious, cleaned and smelling fresh, ample towels, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful courtyard gardens, someone obviously spends a lot of time up keeping. Excellent value for money in these times... $144 for 2 people in a decent sized one bedroom studio. Spa and a neat pool with super friendly staff and patrons.
I'm impressed. We stop in Taupo 2-3x per year and have had some not so good experiences also, pays to check your reviews like we did this time before booking !

C.Stayed for two days with family. Pool was clean, receptionist was nice and lovely to guest, room was also nice, clean. We had a nice view from our room as well. I'm sure the bed, pillows and sheets are clean since I did not end up getting any itch or bug bites compare to other places I have stayed. Location is great and walkkng distance to shops. Would love to go back and stay there again if I have the time again to visit Taupo.

J. L.Ika Nui Taupo is a great spot by Lake Taupō with amazing views. You can see the calm water and big mountains, which makes it really peaceful. There are pretty gardens and lots of things to do nearby, so guests have a really good time.
You can take a nice walk by the lake or try some exciting activities. The motel rooms are comfy, and the staff is friendly, which makes your stay feel top-notch. Whether you want to relax or have some fun, Ika Nui Taupo has it all, making guests want to come back again and again.

C. H.Spent four nights here during our trip and would definitely stay again. Beautiful facility with apartment style accommodations. Walking distance to the lake and plenty of restaurants. Laundry facilities were a nice plus.
H. H.Lovely place to stay with generously sized rooms. Comfortable, and have a fairly full kitchen with oven and dishwasher! This would be an excellent longer-term stay if you're in Taupo for any length of time. Beds very firm and comfy, lovely and warm.
The only letdown is the state of the spa pool in the pool area. It could really do with updating. The jets have a mind of their own, no knobs seemed in control, seating was a bit weird, and the decor looks like it needs an overhaul.
Otherwise a very good place to stay near everything and the staff are very friendly and helpful!
l. l.An excellent stay at the Ika Nui motel. Rooms were extremely spacious with good amenities, each with their own personal balcony with a view of the lake. Staff were helpful and friendly and the location was perfect. Only thing was that we had no towels on arrival which I’m sure was just a small oversight.
L.Ika Nui is the only motel I will stay at in Taupo.
1. Excellent professional friendly service from Loretta and her staff.
2. Very spacious clean rooms that offer over and above to make your stay perfect. Beds are so comfortable and with a TV in your bedroom.
3. Location is with a view to the Lake across the road. There is an amazing walk/bike path along the lake
4. Very close walking distance to the CBD, where cafes, bars and restaurants are on the water front. So like me if you want to drink alcohol and not drive, this is the perfect spot.
5. Price is affordable, extremely reasonable for what it has to offer.
This motel is a Gem., it is slightly dated from the outside but that is overlooked once you enter

L. M.Loretta went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we had a great stay. The kitchen was well equipped, our apartment was clean, spacious and warm. I can’t fault our stay in anyway and highly recommend Ika Nui as a fantastic, family friendly home away from home.
K. W.This is an older property with large rooms, well maintained and very close to town. Stayed overnight on way back to Auckland. Huge room, was originally a timeshare motel now solely motel. ||Very helpful receptionists. The key to this motel is it's proximity to the town and eateries etc. ie 3 minute walk to town and also across the road from the lake which is nice for a morning walk. Some motels in Taupo are far from town and you need a car. ||This is not the case with this one. Got a decent rate on Booking.|Would stay here again based on the size of the room and it's central location.|Enjoyed a nice dip in the Wairakei Terraces hotpools (age 14 years and over), got a decent discount voucher for entry on the grabone site.
J. H.Visited Ika Nui late May, worth every dollar. Stayed with 2 other couples and the room was warm, clean and comfortable. We booked the 2 bed with views and everyone had room enough to do there own thing without tripping over each other. Unfortunately, we didn't the greatest view as it was foggy and cloudy, not Ika Nuis fault though. Great affordable place to stay in an awesome handy location - highly recommend

The room was clean and tidy with everything you need and more. The beds were even comfortable which is a rare treat when staying away from home. Personally a dip in the spa was my highlight. The room was the best hotel room I’ve stayed in for ages. Clean tidy comfortable bed. And had everything I needed. The lounge was very spacious and could spread out. Great having a beautiful deck over looking the jane nestled amounts the beautiful fully homeowner garden. The pool spa and plunge pool were an absolute bonus. Will be staying here every time I come to Taupo! Cannot fault the accommodation and service.

A. S.Was a great little stop over, the second bed in our place didn't even have a sheet on it. I had to make the bed myself. But the only reason I gave it a 3 star is it is not child friendly. The front gate doesn't get closed so the children can get out to the road. Best they get a children gate out front. Keep the little ones safe

B.We spent a night here with family - group of 10 adults and 4 children, had a paid reservation for 3 apartments but because we checked in after hours, we had 6 keys on the safety box for 6 apartments for us all which we did take as we don’t know what is happening and no one to ask. Area is so clean and welcoming view as well as lake view at the front. To my surprise, I did pay for the additional 3 apartments which I disputed with Booking.com which I used to book our accommodation. The manager was spectacular by explaining to me they received 6 apartments booked under me. Booking.com came back to me that I should be reimbursed as it was not my fault, as of this moment still awaiting for one apartment left unpaid yet to my bank account. Overall the place is extraordinary, will definitely be back when we are in Taupo, highly recommended 👍
V.Room was very clean and had the most utilities I've ever seen. Usually you get the basic stuff 4 plates, 4 cups and so on. Not this place it had everything you think of, Real knives lol and decent size coffee cups, Swimming towels.
I particularly loved the He Whakaputanga Flag( Flag of United Tribes of Aotearoa) that was flying in the front.

K. K.Jacs was lovely to deal with and ever so helpful. Had some unexpected changes to our booking but wasn't a problem so saved us from lots what could have been really stressful! Had a large family staying so using two rooms. Rooms were comfortable and clean and kids enjoyed using pool and other facilities. Wouldn't hesitate to use this facility again.

H. J. V.We had a great stay here, room was immaculately clean and stocked with everything we needed. However, the main reason we booked was for the spa and pool, but they were closed for maintenance, which no one had communicated to us. We also went to use the built in hairdryer which caught on fire from the inside. When we let the reception know they just said they’d look into it. Other than that, great value for money.

We had the one bedroom unit as there was only 2 of us. The overall outside look just doesn't do it justice. It is a lovely place to stay and all self contained with everything you need. We have stayed there twice and will stay there again next time.

L. F.What can I say. I have been going there for 14 years and have loved every minute of it. My Grandparents and Mum have been going there for 30+ years and still aren't sick of it. It has beautiful views of sunsets at night and amazing views of the mountains during the day (if the weather complies). It is located in a prime location as it is only a 5 minute stroll to the center of town. The facilities are very good and well maintained. The units are very clean and tidy and the beds and couches are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and constantly keep the mint bowl full =)

R. S.My husband and I stayed a few days at the Ika Nui Taupō in room 14, which is directly across from the check in office.
Our living room view was of the lake and it was gorgeous.
There is a full kitchen, as well as living room, dining table, bathroom with a shower and a queen sized bed in a separate bedroom.
The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you could possibly need on a trip to cook.
Walls were thick and we didn't hear anyone except for people in the parking lot one night.
PROBLEMS:
Parking is a nightmare and much too snug for comfort. One night we came home and every slot was filled so we had to park at a different hotel and pray we didn't get towed.
The major downside is the internet doesn't work here. That's a problem if you're a foreigner and you're on data roaming. You won't be able to upload photos to the cloud, post on social media or make WiFi calls because unless we stood at the front door, holding our phone out to get the initial signal, the WiFi wouldn't stay connected anywhere in the entire unit.
Overall I was happy with our stay, except for the WiFi issue.

T. A.Definitely would recommend this motel to any family or single person. Walking distance to the township. Friendly staff, pool facilities with 2 spa pools main pool. Games room with Pool table an Table tennis.
J. G.Having stayed here for a number of days we found the staff helpful with requests.
One thing to note is there is no daily servicing of apartments which isn’t a big thing, just to be aware of. Towels, sheets etc if required available on request at the office.
We did have a couple of other issues which were really only minor overall.
Apartments are large, medium sized fridge, full cooking facilities, implements and cutlery are available. Other items also include iron and board if you are needing those, brooms, brushes etc stored in cupboards.
Noise is very little and we were near the main thoroughfare.
VERY close to town and lake front - lake is just across the road and town a short 2-5 min walk depending on where you’re going.
Parking is allocated so please park in your spot 😊
E. H.From the time of booking to leaving the unit my wife and I found Ika Nui Taupo absolutely great. The service, location and quality internal finishes were out of the top drawer. P. H.Next to the main busy road so not overly quiet . The rooms are a really decent size and you can walk to shops cafes super close..ideal for business overnight stay .Shower tile floor could of been cleaner.
H. 4.Please get your room at this hotel. It so comfy. Nearest with chris jolly adventure and there so many place to eat and get souvenir.

S.What an awesome place to stay, couldn't fault the service at all Lorretta the Manager couldn't do enough for us, even picked us up from where we were stranded late at night instead of getting a taxi, what a trooper lady she was, went above an beyond her duties to help us out. T. M.Apart from a hiccup at check-in where staff were absent and the phone number went to voicemail, the visit was good. The room was large, the bed softer than usual, and the bathroom/shower spotless. Would stay again.

Ika Nui used to be a Time Share so apartments are far better equipped than an average motel unit. Exceptionally clean & spacious & generous with towel supply! Contrary to a couple of other reviews as these comments concerned us before we made our booking - Ika Nui ONLY takes genuine paying guests. There are no Government Emergency housing tenants here & no contract to take them. The pool & spa are simply closed because they are indoors & covid restrictions require them to be closed. This should change very soon. There is also no insistence on paying by credit card & we had no problems paying by cash for our stay. Highly recommend & we would most definitely stay here again.

We had a two bed, two bath unit: one had a teeny tiny en suite and the other had a giant bathroom that opened to the living room. Full kitchen, decently equipped. Also has a sofa bed. TV in living room and master bedroom. Ours had a covered patio and table seating.

G. H.This resort is fabulous. I recommend it for a friendly and relaxing stay. Although on the main road on the lakefront, you do not hear any traffic noise. Sit and enjoy the balcony and view of the lake. Pleasant staff. Very friendly. Unit was very clean and comfortable.

Nice friendly managers with a very good reception area providing local information on tours & tourist attractions. Located right next to Mini Putt Putt and across the road from Hole in One Golf. Only negative was the small carpark for our unit meant our ute was too big & we had to park out on the street. We weren't very happy about that.

A. P.Apartment is vey clean. Kitchen has everything that you need. The bedroom for our downstairs unit attached to car park, very noisy with cars going all the time. Inconsiderate people talking just outside your bedroom loudly at 1am then again at 7am. Lack of privacy as BBQ area right in front of our unit. People not using assigned parking spots. The Wifi also is poor keeps disconnecting.

K. R.On arrival greeted by friendly staff. The room was clean and tidy and we were within walking distance to Taupo shopping centre, restaurants cafes and local attractions. We only had one minor issue the parking and trying to manouvre around other vehicles on the corner of your establishment coming down the back of Briscoes. Otherwise ok place to stay.
V. S.I had a lovely time at Taupo Ika Nui. It is really well managed, everything runs like clockwork and nothing seemed to be a problem with the staff. Even the cleaning staff appeared to be happy! It is close to town and close to the lake. Perfect! The only thing that was disappointing was no Happy hour any more. I thought that the sound-proofing was good. The units were very clean and well equipped.

T. T. L.Classic style for retired couple, face to the lake, comfortable bed, all you need to bring with you is your luggage and food. They offer fully furnished kitchen. Perhaps family would enjoy the stay too

G. H.My husband and I visit Taupo almost every year and have stayed at TIN on many occasions. Every time we have stayed, the management have been very hospitable and caring about our time in Taupo. This year we took my elderly mother who has never been before . she had a wonderful time in the pool and spa area .As we were not always around during the day, I was assured that should she need anything , staff would meet her needs should the occassion arise. We were booked into a ground floor unit for ease of access ,which also had been newly renovated.The rooms at TIN are small but the standard is high and even with 6 suitcases, thanks to Air New Zealand, we were able to put them in storage cupboards with a little reshuffling , there was ample room for our relaxation.We have already put in our request for 2014 to stay again.

T. &. J. C.Great timeshare resort, we have just return from spending two weeks at Taupo Ika Nui. This was the first time in the North Island of New Zealand and Taupo is a great location, very central to all tourist spots, 1.5 hours to the Hawkes Bay, 1 hours to Rotorua and 1.5 hours to the mountains plus Taupo itself has a huge number of attractions - Huka Falls was great, Craters of the Moon, Lake Cruises etc etc etc. Taupo Ika Nui is 500m from the middle of town making it very easy to walk in each day for a coffee, we had an upstairs unit at Ika Nui with great views of Lake Taupo and the Mountains, while at Ika Nui, Taupo had a good dumping of snow, first time in a number of years I believe. Our unit was very well appointed with everything we needed and very very clean, plus we had a service after the first week and we were very pleased to be able to change our towels midweek (nice touch guys), lover the heated pool. Thanks Loretta, Paske and Dave for looking after us - we would love to come back someday.
