Rooms clean and Tidy, beautiful Pool. But unfortunately the food was low standard. Got the fish n chip meal. Over cooked and burnt. No steak was available. Waited for 45 minutes for my meal including the garlic Bread. That was the only tasty thing I enjoyed was the garlic Bread

A really nice Hotel with that slightly old fashioned look giving it character. Very good restaurant and they make the best garlic bread I've ever had. Friendly, polite and easygoing staff. I love this Hotel. Cozy.

Love the place. Been going there for many years, when it was owned by previous owners and now. Great service from the staff. Very welcoming vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Great place for a family holiday. Kids loved the pool. Would highly recomend it. Thanks

Room was lovely but very noisy! We deliberately booked a room with a balcony so we could enjoy sitting outside but instead opened the doors to find a massive scaffold up right in front of our view. On arrival there was no greeting and we walked up and said hi and she asked us to giver her a minute after waiting she asked for my car number plate and asked me to sign a piece of paper when I asked for a copy of what I just signed she said no and would give me a invoice at the end of my stay… I insisted I wanted a copy of what I just signed as there was information of things I would be fined for if anything were to happen in the room etc. luckily the lady next to her told her no and she would print me a copy! Aircon in the room didn’t work the first night so had the door open as was so hot but was very noisy from the room above us partying outside. Aircon was fixed the next day. Overall room was nice looking but service lacked. Paid $490 for 3 nights but card was charged $500 sent a email about that and no one ever responded. Toilet didn’t flush properly toilet paper swirled around in the bowl. Also didn’t state when we booked that we had to use our card again to go into their system and 100$ would be taken if anything happened in the room.

Very comfortable stay here, the rooms are nice and updated. Large comfy bed and aircon. Just wish they had sky channels. Room service, pool, handy location, and onsite restaurant and bar. Would stay here again.

Location to centre of town and motorway was excellent. Rooms spacious and very clean. Just as good as many higher rated hotels.

Outside of building looking very tired but rooms inside are spacious and clean and glad air con worked well with the humidity. Have stayed here before

Look it’s a very old place, run down , carpets frayed and paint peeling. So set your expectations low. But the front desk staff are so amazing I kinda didn’t care. Well maybe the bed ( two singles pushed together with a ridge in middle) still kinda annoyed me. But it was reasonable price too…

Bathrooms a bit dated, terrible shower and refilled shower products/shower curtain? Yuk! But rest is clean and refreshing

Rooms good. Nice big bed. Was a party going on so a little noisy but finished around 1030. Had a meal downstairs -burgers. Was slow but when it came out very nice. Great staff.

i liked that we had our own balcony where we could vape/smoke. and not have to go all the way outside for a smoke/vape. the beds were comfy.. the hotel was hiding away .. never even seen it til now, the shower sucked it was just dribbling out pretty much. everytime you tried to change from shower to bath (the water wasnt even on btw) the shower head was spitting at you.. we had to walk from one end of the hotel to the other just to go to the car, because the door closest to our room was locked..

It was a decent stay. However, the sheets were too thin for winter and had to sleep with the heater on all night to keep warm.

Could do with an internal upgrade. You could hear the other guests coming in at 2am. Other than that it was ok.

A beautiful hotel with very attractive rooms and a historic interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful and well organized. The bed was very large and comfortable and clean. The only suggestion would be to improve the balconys as they were a little rundown and did not reflect the high standards of the rest of the hotel.

Undergoing renovation build while I was here. Pretty average for a hotel of this type I reckon. The steak I ordered in the restaurant was awesome tasty.

Pretty average to be honest. A lot of renovations underway. My headboard had duct tape on it and the bed was horribly uncomfortable. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

A very retro place undergoing modern renovation. It was very comfortable and clean - just a bit dated. The bar and snooker area looked very vogue and gentlemen club like. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was very average but convenient and coffee could do with some improvement. Nice looking swimming pool and spa area.

Hotel decor is a bit tired and room cleaning is not every day. King bed in our room. Nice and comfortable unless you tried to cross the divide in the middle. Both room key cards got disabled after the first day for some reason. Staff nice and friendly.

Hotel was cheap and cheerful. Breakfast is served in the rooms in the morning which makes it slightly challenging to meet with colleagues for morning briefing for the day ahead but not a show stopper. Hotel served it's purpose - clean accommodation, basic amenities. Overall good experience.

Stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed. The pool was clean and heated. Beds were supercomfy. The room was clean and tidy and soundproof which is great ! Staff is very friendly. Very nice place and I would like to return. It's good value for money.

Was ok...felt abit dusty loads of carpet. Cushion on bed smelt musty. Fridge was not on in room but milk inside the fridge. Dark hallways was creepy. Toilet was stuck right next to the wall in bathroom so had to sit sideways while using it. Room was spacious and lovely. Had a sliding door which was good for natural light and air.

Very quaint place to stay. The bathroom is a bit outdated but the rooms are tidy and modern looking. It's close to the waterfront and eateries and the staff are amazing. Have stayed here before and not had a bad thing to say about it yet... apart from the bathroom. They have sky channels and its quiet. A restaurant and bar downstairs with food that looks amazing. May try it tonight and add to this review... happy hour at 5pm 😜

Decent accommodation for the price. However place could do with a revamp to the outdated carpets. Awesome room had a heat pump and room was tidy and clean. Bed was comfy however the room could have done with a microwave in it.

This old hotel has hallways like the shining movie. However the rooms are a comfortable size, they have a spa bath and aircon so for the price they are great. We did had a few issues with the circuit blowing when the hair dryer was on but a quick call to reception and they sorted it straight away.

A great place for our AGM. The food was pretty average though and cold, but the people were very nice. The place just needs some TLC as its getting tired looking..

Hotel was beautiful however was disappointed that after I had already paid online, when we went to checkin I had to put another $100 down. This was not stated anywhere and I read everything. It sucked as you took away from my budget for the weekend so thanks alot. Not sure if this is legal for you to do, but it is very unacceptable.

A great old and new only hotel experience to have in Tauranga. Wonderful reception staff. New Zealanders need to support these accommodations during the covid-19 period.

Very friendly staff at check-in. Room was very nice. The whole place has a vintage and comfortable feel to it, with lots of darker wood paneling. The food was good, only ordered a quick salad as room service but it was perfect - light, fresh and tasty. The check out staff were a little brusque, but still very polite and efficient. Location is great because it's a short walk from the Tauranga CBD, yet just far enough to feel fairly quiet and peaceful.

Clean and tidy room. Friendly and helpful service front of house. Fast and easy check in and out. Ample parking, nice and quiet location yet close to the city. Only issue was they were renovating surrounding rooms and work started a little early. Also would've been cool if the outside pool was heated. Overall enjoyed the stay and would stay ther again.

Average hotel. Mould on bathroom mirror and blood stain on duvet. Apart from that, it's clean and staff were friendly. We really appreciated that we were allowed to check in 2 hrs earlier as our room was ready.

Very tidy rooms, friendly staff. 6km away from Mt manganui and walking distance to wharf street. Has a pool and in house Cafe with limited 24 hours food choices. Parking at the back.

Was excellent value for money. Clean and very comfortable. In the process of being renovated to modernise which I think is a shame. The old decor is priceless however unfortunately not to everyone's taste. Staff were great and very friendly. I asked for a late check out and was no problem for a very small charge. We also ate in the restaurant and again was excellent. Only thing I would fault was the breakfast. Did not enjoy but hey that was not a show stopper. Will definitely go back.

i dunno why the rating on google map for this hotel is so low, it actually is one of my favorite place during my nz trip. the room is very spacious and brand new ( just after refurbishing). the staff r very friendly and helpful, Michele (the staff name) even help me book bus ticket, give many nice suggestion about my trip planning, the breakfast is good too.

Great location but disappointed with room I.e. had a double bed instead of a queen (not used to sharing such a small bed). Food not up to standard- very disappointing at well. Staff were friendly as were the housekeepers . They apparently are revamping hotel rooms so hopefully will improve ambience

This place was great, they upgraded us for free on xmas. The room also had a wide open feel to it, very breezy and bright. One of my favorite stays in NZ.

Good 'all-round' venue. Nice to stay at, nice for a small conference; nothing too special, but nothing negative either! The food is pretty good, and the staff are helpful. The whole place has quite a dated feel to it, but is in good condition (just looks old!).

Rooms clean and tidy and well appointed. Hotel appearance a bit dated. Breakfast is Ok, no croissants or pastries with continental breakfast only toast and pancakes and choice of 4 cereals, tinned fruits and 2 types of yogurt.

Good place to stay for a night. Quiet and peaceful. It would be better if the rooms could get some upgrade done.

The room was nice, I didn't really try eating there and my room was sadly right above the conference room. So some night you can hear it till late at night, though you can muzzle it out with music or watching a movie.

3 weeks stay here over lock down for work. Great staff, great services.

In the process of being renovated but I got one of the old rooms with a very uncomfortable bed. Will wait awhile before I stay here again. Dinner was good though and the staff was very friendly.

My special thanks to Ms Michelle from front office, Mr Dwight (restaurant) and Ms Freda an intern who made my stay comfortable . Very friendly and courteous staff with great hospitality. Especially Ms Freda who often met me during breakfast and dinner and asked me how I was doing and suggested what I should try from the menu. Also managing a busy breakfast buffet on sunday morning quite well by herself. People like this create an experience.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times and it's a nice place to rest when you're in Tauranga. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. On this occasion, the hotel was full and with a large sports group, so the walls proved to be a little thin, but manageable. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, but will most likely stay here again so the oportunity is likely to arise then. The hotel seems to be in a perpetual state of renovation but hopefully it will only improve what is already a nice place to stay.

(Food review) Stayed here as we were performing at the jazz festival. As musicians you stay in a lot of places and I’ve discovered that hotel meals can be hit-or-miss. We sat in the bar area to watch friends playing jazz, ordered our meals from the bar. A bit of a wait but was so worth it! Flavoursome Polenta “fries” (they’re chunky and you get about 6 - perfect entree size) had the chicken burger with beer deal - burger was mouth-watering. Also had chicken breast which was amazingly juicy served with a delish sauce and veges! All beautifully presented and so much flavour! Found out the chefs name was Lucy. Thank you and I hope others have an equally delicious experience : )

Lovely hotel but a little bit old. Our bathroom door knob just popped out. Beds are very soft. Besides that, nothing much to complain about.

The hotel was going through some renovations. The room I had was good. The TV reception and Internet wifi was patchy. The staff were helpful and friendly.

The bed was comfortable. The location was great for our requirements. The staff were polite and friendly. It was clean. Found the tv hard to drive. Otherwise, all good.

Fantastic staff make sure that you are never going to be disappointed here. This is my favorite Tauranga hotel. An hilariously good place to stay. Like visiting 1970s Tauranga in the present. I often stay here. The decor is retro real and totally enjoyable because of this fact. Without question the best hotel to stay in at Tauranga. Forget some of the dated decor and start to cherish it. This place has super staff and a truly memorable personality. I recommend Armitage as it is true blue kiwi! Much recommended.

Fantastic hidden gem of a hotel, reminds me very much of the British hotel chain “Britannia” in terms of decor, carpet, furnishings etc. First of all the bad: 1: there were various stains on every surface from the carpets, the walls (including bathroom) and even the ceiling. 2: the ceiling fan mechanism was there and working but no blades. The circle of dust it blew into the artex ceiling was still there. 3: the air conditioner smelled horrible when turned on so we just slept with the windows open The good: 1: spa bath was great 2: bathroom was huge and had 2 sinks 3: 4th floor was nice and quiet and felt secure 4: friendly staff 5: balcony was spacious (two chairs but sadly no table) 6: spinning couch chairs very comfy All in all I’d recommend this place to anyone. Get a cheap deal on internet and you’re laughing

Very pleasant staff. Room was pretty old with a number of stains in carpet. God knows what came out of spa bath jets. Lift was dubious at best.

Good times... if you like peace and quiet avoid during music festival season... its usually me and 100 other patrons running a muck.

We used Hotel Armitage for our wedding reception and we were very pleased. The newly renovated event room was well presented which was a great base to create our ideal setting. Sarah was a great help and was quick to attend to our needs. The process of planning and the running of the actual event was all made much easier than we imagined by Sarah and her team. Our guests loved the food and service and we had nothing but good memories at the end of the night.

Spend one night. Great location and very handy if in town for business. Clean, tidy, quiet hotel. Comfortable beds. Not a fancy place, but a great place to stay a night.

Fred Karno's circus is the best way to describe the place. Staff are lovely. The building needs pulling down.

The room upgrades have been a wecome change, though i recommend you select a north facing room awag from the road.

All good but the wifi signal which may result from the position of the room. Because we are arranged in the edge of the point. I like the receptant's smile.

The facility looks tired and out of date. The stay was average. For example, the water kettle didn't quite fit the sink and I can only get less then 400ml of water at a time...

Great service for our conference ... Some good improvements and the food was good but honestly that place needs to be bulldozed and something worth 21st century to be build in its place.

Room was clean and tidy, the outside and restaurant are looking a bit tired, but otherwise a decent enough place to stay.

The Armitage is perfectly located for a walk into Palmerston shops. So there is a ton of eateries about, if you don't want to use the restaurant. But the food there is well worth trying you won't be disappointed. The hotel is very close to the motorway system for traveling to Mt Manganui, Bethlehem, Auckland, Taupo, Rotorua..

(Translated) This hotel is nice, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, not far from The Wharf (restaurant area by the sea), about 5-10 minutes walk.
