One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. The place is beautiful and aesthetically pleasant with a really cool vibe. The facilities are modern and super comfortable. The kitchen is spacious and really up to date. The showers are amazing with really good pressure. There is a beautiful balcony on the 2nd floor which is great to have a meal with a good view of just to sit down and relax reading a book. The staff are incredibly friendly and easy going and the manager Davide does an amazing job making sure you are having a great stay. Can’t wait to come back to this place soon.

I had stayed at Wanderlust over a one month period while I was doing orchard work in the Tauranga area. During my stay, I thoroughly enjoyed my time and what Wanderlust had to offer. The service at the front desk was hassle free and I, as well as friends whom I stayed with all found communicating to the front desk as a hassle free experience. In addition to this, the stay itself was enjoyable. Rooms were kept tidy upon entry and were spacious with good noise cancellation of the outside. For short and long term stays, I can not recommend Wanderlust enough.

Great Accommodation in the Heart of Tauranga - Good Value for Money for those on a Budget. Clean and tidy with really good and helpful Staff. Cooking Facilities in a Large Kitchen. Excellent Views from the top story adjoining the kitchen of Tauranga Harbour with an area to relax talk to fellow travellers and take in the Views Day and Night. Located on the Strand which has restaurants bars and nightclubs. Recommended for Everyone 👍

The staff was really really nice and friendly. Congrats for that! You’re doing great. The beds were not the most comfortable but good enough and there’s a nice kitchen with all you may need and an amazing balcony on the top that has a great view. The only detail I would suggest is the hygiene in the toilets and showers, cause when I was there, they were not very clean.

Great backpack well situated. The building is old in a very charming way (the wood stairs!), but the facilities are new or recently renovated, well equipped and well maintained. The cleanliness is top notch, I was really impressed! It was my second stay (first one two years ago in a private room with private facilities, this time in a 6beds dorm with shared facilities) and both time I had a great experience for a very competitive price

Amazing place! I stayed twice recently, once on a busy Sat night and again on a quiet midweek too. I had a great sleep in a comfy private room both times, and the fan was much appreciated since we’d been having some humidity! The whole place and views are gorgeous, and was kept so clean and tidy by the awesome manager and staff. Had a great stay and hope to go back soon :)

I stayed here for a weekend and it was a beautiful spot. The communal area was large, light and open to the amazing deck overlooking the water. The kitchen was clean and tidy and the staff were all really lovely and helpful. I enjoyed the old architecture of the building, the staircase was beautiful and I can tell a lot of effort has been put into the building to keep it original. I especially liked the doors (original and slightly smaller than a normal door) and the bathrooms which are really cool. There was a band playing at a bar nearby which could have bothered some people, but I just slept through it all (the other option was to join in the dancing). If I shut my window it would have blocked the sound anyway. This is a mid-town location so it’s perfect for being able to walk to cafe’s, restaurants, bars and supermarkets.

Such a sick hostel! So much space to live in. People aren't on top of each other. Super clean, staff are freaking awesome. Had a great stay here. Stayed for 7 months and didn't wanna leave but needed to see the rest 9f the country. 11/10 recommend. The views from the balcony are amazing. Great kitchen to cook in. Super comfy beds Downside.. it's hard to leave! Thanks for everything and all the wonderful staff

Amazing stay!!! Wanderlust has the perfect location right in the centre of Tauranga on the waterfront. Staff were welcoming and all facilities very clean. Definitely recommend Wanderlust Hostel. Thanks to all the amazing staff that made us feel welcome to stay here.

Wanderlust is right at The Strand, in the heart of the CBD, and its 3-stories beautiful building shows a magnificent view of the estuaries, Harbour Bridge and the hills on the other side of town. Location cannot be better. Right next to all cafes, bars and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and comfy, nice beds and linen and everything is always clean and tidy. Most of private rooms have their bathrooms ensuite as well. Great common areas, kitchen is huge and well equipped, and it's right next to the gorgeous balcony. Perfect for a meal and a beer with fellow backpackers. All in all, great value for money, friendly and knowledgeable staff, spotless facilities and unbeatable location make Wanderlust one of the best hostels in New Zealand, in fact one of the best I have stayed during my travels.

David at the reception was amazing! He assisted me with few bed cancellation process on the last moment. Very reliable and efficient service by David and his team(Judith). It was my first backpackers experience and he was the saviour.

Great place, awesome location, but not happy with guest bringing in visitors after reception leaving, glad this was sorted accordingly. Great views from kitchen dinning area, clean room and ensuite Gladly stay again and would highly recommend to other travelers.

Brilliant location right in the centre of Tauranga, clean new rooms, and phenomenal professional staff! I had accidentally mixed up my room bookings and the manager was super quick in getting things sorted for me. They were also super helpful when I had to get groceries delivered while away from my room! All in all a great stay, one of the best hostel experiences I've had in NZ.

Probably one of the nicest hostels i've stayed in in new zealand. Great balcony and views of the waterfront and perfect location on the strand.

Couldn't open my room door with my key. New locks and keys, not fully worn in yet. Too polite to wake the night staff so I walked 3kms back to my car :) Check my booking 2/10/21 the key that was returned. Probably Murphy's law will work when you check it.. Whatever :') 5 Stars because I've had good stays here before and the reno was great in common areas, although i didn't get to see the room 😆🙈 Not gonna ask for refund but if you wanna give one that's cool too 😂

Awesome hostel :) I stayed for a long term, the staff were always welcoming and friendly. The place was clean, tidy and felt very safe. There is always someone to have a chat, or just enjoy your own time in the lounge. I also loved to watch the sunrise in the mornings :)

Great place to stay! Had last minute plans and need somewhere cheap to stay. Staff were helpful and answered all questions. Great facilities. Comfy bed. Met a bunch of seasonal workers who invited me to join them. Couldn’t have had a better experience. Highly recommended.

I'm a lucky girl because everyone in the hostel was lovely to me. I wanted to stay here short term but I fall in love with my room = long term accommodation. The hostel is in CBD, it isn't bad with parking - you can stay in the library or close to the bridge. The hostel is open to looking for a job for you. Everything is new and clean and the best is the view - especially with the coffee. I lived last year in share houses but this hostel is awesome. The staff cares about my happiness a lot.

I am a 36 year old English girl and I have been staying long term here at Wanderlust for over two months now. Without a doubt, I would say it was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Huge kitchen with everything that you need to cook and bake. Free tea, coffee and sugar. They have provided brand new heaters for every single room for the cold winter nights which are fab! The WiFi is amazing! Best WiFi I’ve ever had in a hostel. They clean the rooms/hostel around 9/10am not waking you up early like 7am like a lot of other hostels do. The best thing about this place is the view from the balcony, and the social aspect if you wish to join. It’s so much fun, but at the same time, the nights are so quiet so you get a great nights sleep! Everyone, including the staff (especially Joyce) are so friendly so it makes this place very welcoming. Me and my fiancé share a private room. The hostel is so clean, modern, and I feel so comfortable here that it feels like home and we don’t want to leave :)

This is a very modern and comfortable hostel with excellent, professional and friendly staff. WIFI is excellent, shower water and pressure was excellent, the mattress was super comfortable the kitchen is fully equipped and has a lovely roof deck. The location is amazing if if yo are driving and need parking then there is free street parking on Sunday everywhere and for long term all day free parking you can park near the police station, a 5/10 minute walk.

Stayed here with my partner over the weekend in one of the private room. The mattress was very comfortable, we slept like babies. Everything seems so new and clean. It is very pleasant. The balcony with the water views is just wow. The staff was so friendly, Renee always available for a chit chat to make you feel welcome. ☺️ We definitely recommend and will be back!

Such a great hostel to spend one or more days. The hostel is only a 10 min drive from one of the best beaches in New Zealand. The view of the balcony is awesome and the spacious kitchen and communal area are great to meet other people. The showers and mattresses are the best and the staff is there to make you feel at home and they know how to turn important moments into memorable experiences. You find yourself in the heart of the city with plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants nearby. I ended up staying there for over 3 months so I consider myself family now. Thanks Wanderlust owners and staff for one of the best experiences on the north island.

THIS HOSTEL WAS AMAZING! The view is incredible and the balcony is the perfect spot to catch some rays, chill in a hammock and make friends :) Each staff member was so kind and very helpful! They really took the time to make you feel welcome and answer any questions. The cleanest accommodation I have been in and we loved the open floor plan for the kitchen and lounge. The wall paintings of sea life is perfect as this is right by the ocean. It's in a hot spot of town, lots of diverse food and pubs right below. The street art is beautiful and you can walk around the area feeling safe. We will definitely be back!

Wanderlust was brilliantly central city located. In amongst it all. The renovated historic building had beautiful harbour views with breath taking sunrises and glistening water. The open plan shared living areas were fresh, roomy, bright and clean. The beds were new and comfortable and the other facilities were all a treat. The staff were welcoming and their friendly smiling faces put a smile on my dial. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely come again.

This hostel is a real hidden gem in the vibrant Tauranga town centre right in front of the water and sorrounded by some of the best restaurant and shops in town. The facilities and rooms are spotless and the staff clean every single day with a smile :) The building was recently renovated so everything is brand new. The reception staff was AMAZING ready to help me finding and booking the best activities in the area and doing anything to make my stay more pleasant as possible! Wi fi superfast, free parking at 5 minutes distance and stunning views from the big balcony!! This place is simply the best hostel I've ever been. I'll definitely go back! :)

I have stayed in countries all over the world and travelled New Zealand from top of the north to the bottom of the south for both work and leisure. In my travels i have encountered 2 varying degrees of quality service. Wanderlust is streets ahead of the game in all positive ways. Their frontline staff are welcoming and conversive, their cleaning staff are vigilant and productive while maintaining respect and care for guests and their stay, and support staff do their jobs with an efficiency and dedication i have mostly only observed in upper end motels and hotels. We have been guests here often and hope to return in whichever or whatever room they may have available. It has been a pleasure and i recommend them whole-heartedly as an amazing place to include in your journey

Very clean and friendly hostel smack-dab along the trendy "Strand" in Tauranga. Lovely hostess (Joyce) made us feel very welcome, and gave us a guided tour of the complex when we checked in. Communal kitchen/dining area was very clean, and other guests were friendly and respectful. Room was basic, but very clean and had all the bedding we required for our one nights stay. Overall a really nice experience, and I would definitely recommend the Wanderlust Hostel!

My family and I loved our stay. Everything has been recently renovated, great central location, amazing 180 degree view of the harbour, comfy beds, good showers, super clean. We don't know the city very well, but the hosts were amazing and gave us the inside word on fun things for us to see and do - plus recommendations for best cafes that are kid-friendly. Great value for money - especially if you're a family of 5.

Such a pleasant place to stay in Tauranga! The hostel was renovated and I was one of the first guests after opening again. Everything is clean and new, the kitchen is huge and has got new pans. The painting on the walls is amazing. You can feel the love they've put in it in each detail. The rooftop has got a glass wall and you can sit down there and relax enjoying the viewing. If you are lucky, you may see the orcas swimming in the bay right in front of you from there. Very well located with pubs, restaurants, and groceries within a walk distance. Finally, the staff is friendly and very helpful with all your doubts

The hostel is stunning. Everything is brand new, the views from the room and the deck are amazing, I had my best sleeping night with the awesome mattress that they have. Staff were super nice and helpful, I would definitely come back here. Also very important to say, the cleanliness of the place couldn't be better. Location is perfect, right in the centre where all the bars and restaurants are.

Wanderlust hostel is the BEST accommodation you can find in Tauranga! Had such cool fun vibe and even more amazing staff! Rooms and facilities were very clean and the communal area had an awesome view. 100% recommend for your stay!

WOW, an historic building brought back to life for all of us to share. I'm so glad is was earthquake strengthened and not left abandoned or demolished. It has been renovated with taste and flair and that grand old lobby staircase is simply magnificent. Those original tiled showers reminded me of the Blue Baths in Rotorua and the new toilets/showers are clean, modern & roomy. The view from the balcony was breath taking and the place is so ideally located. Eateries were only seconds away and so was the sea. A great night away spent with my family. Warm, sunny and good vibes going on.

Amazing what they did to the place! I stayed here for the first time 3 years ago, before all the renovations. The building certainly got a facelift! Wow absolutely stunning and great use of space! They must have put a lot of work into it! Staff is just as friendly as always, especially Renee! She is professional yet makes you feel like you’re at home. Nothing but good vibes at this place! Love the comfy beds and high pressure showers and still in love with the sunrises from the main balcony. I will be back again!

The staff were great! Not at all happy about being removed from the air conditioned dorm, which was directly above a very noisy bar, that I was able to cope with, by wearing headphones, to a room on another level with a noisy fan. The kitchen on this level was short of enough utensils for more than 2 people cooking at once. The shared bathrooms were old and leaking. I did enjoy the drinking games though, was fun. There are many cheaper options around Tauranga

This is possibly the best hostel in Tauranga, it’s new, well decorated, with good value room, clean kitchen, harbor view balcony and most importantly super friendly staff. Joyce, the manager, is superb. She is so so so helpful. Would definitely stay again whenever I come to visit Tauranga, highly recommend.

Had a fantastic stay! Came with 7 friends for a festival & stayed for 3 nights, we missed the check in cut off time but Wanderlust were kind enough to let us check in late. The hostel is tidy, inviting and everyone there was incredibly hospitable from the staff to the other guests. It overlooks the water and most of the common rooms are ocean views :) We stayed in 1x 4 bed dorm with ensuite and 2x 2 bed dorms with ensuite; the twin bed ensuite rooms came with blankets and towels, we paid a little extra for towels and blankets in the 4 bed dorm. All three rooms had a bathroom with toilet, sink, mirror and shower. The rooms were tidy, beds were super comfortable and each room had a fan which was a god send in this heat! You also have the choice to have your room serviced each day. The common areas were really nice, good kitchen, lots of seating, games/books available, TV room and large fridge/freezers for you to store food. Best location as well - right by the water, central to food, shops, pubs and an 8 minute walk to the Tauranga domain where our event was, couldn't ask for better really! Would definitely stay again, everyone was super friendly so making friends was super easy. Very chill atmosphere, thanks for an awesome stay team!

Historical building restored with a fresh vibrant color scheme, modern amenities, stunning Erika Pearce art, and waterfront location that makes this a must stay locations. The staff are super friendly from Rhys who makes guests feel comfortable and at home to Val who handles situations and her duties with consideration and care that reflects the attitude of all the staff. Having attended the Bay Salsa event this past October and on short notice, the booking was easy and friendly. From the shared bedroom facilities to the wonderful views from the two well-resourced kitchen facilities our stay was more than we can have ever imagined and as my first backpacker type experience I must say I was highly impressed and recommend to anyone thinking about booking for their next venture to Tauranga. Exceeded expectations, comfortable beds nice linens, clean and nicely set up private bathroom with great water pressure. Beautiful old building well behaved considerate guests and we found someone streaming the rugby so we were able to stay in and still watch it.

What a gem right in the CBD. Newly renovated with the most stunning views of the harbour. Love the vibe and murals throughout the hostel. Beds were super comfy and had a USB plug on the bed. Waking up and seeing the sunrise from my bed was magical. The staff is very nice and friendly and help guests finding work in the area. Highly recommended and can't wait to stay again

Stayed here for a night after a work Christmas party. The room was a little bit dark and didn't have a view but it's a really nice set up and cool vibe overall. Ideal location with Tauranga cbd, close to the harbour and walking distance to several eateries and bars.

Great location, friendly staff, well maintained kitchen/bathroom/common areas. Comfy bed, only thing I would recommend is to bring a multibox, there is only 2 power points in the room and by the time you plug the fan and 1 phone in the other person misses out. Apart from that have nothing but high praise for this cute little place!

Loved it, right in the heart of Tauranga CBD and well worth the price. Staff were great and other people who were staying there were polite and respectful. Clean, tidy, perfectly located in the middle of Tauranga by the waterfront. Newly remodelled 2020 with nice shared areas and provides a good restful stay. Nice storage idea with big drawers under the bunk beds to put away all your stuff.

It has been newly redecorated and you can see how much effort and work has been put in to making this such a great hostel and The staff and owners were welcoming and friendly. But from all of that good points there were some let down. I gave 3 stars due to following reasons. Super loud nose on the Saturday night (bloody loud band from anther bar down the road. no parking near by unless you want to pay for it Checking Out issue If you check your leave in key box daily you would not need to contract us asking about the key for the room. What is the point having a leave in key box if your not going to check it first before contracting us. Why have one in the first place.

Wanderlust is the only place to stay in Tauranga. Million dollar views at a verrrry reasonable price. The staff are amazing and friendly. It is was the first time I've stayed in hostel accommodation. And loved every minute. The guests were so much fun. I'd pick Wanderlust over hotel/motel accommodation anytime. Fact.

Amazing accommodation!! We had a large group and the Moana area suited us perfectly! Fabulous location, friendly staff, safe and secure for school group. Highly recommend!

Pros : The view is amazing. Perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea in the mornings. Its quite a good location (even though Tauranga isn't big) as there are little restaurants and a library closeby. It's clean The staff is always available. Unlimited hot showers, but sometimes cold for some reason. Cons : Can't sleep before midnight on weekends because of excessive noise from neighbors. The staff knew about the live music happenings and did not warn the guests when booking/check-in. Far from grocery stores and from Maunganui (mount and beaches). Female bathroom is quite small and doesnt feel so private. Kitchen is not well equiped nor well organized. This hostel is highly rated (4.9) because past comments have been deleted. They are going all out about being a new hostel because they "renovated" the place. Overall, its probably one of the best hostels in the area, but that's because hostels aren't great around here. It would need a bit of love and nice touches here and there to be a great hostel. Just a bit of care (and silence) would make it very nice

I stayed here a month ago. A great place to stay, fabulous views from the kichen, lounge and balcony area, a well equipped kichen with everything you need to whip up a meal. I stayed in a female dorm with 3 bunks, very comfy, shared bathrm (female only) right across the hall and clean. Very clean hostel recently renovated so nice and fresh. Staff are lovely and friendly, helpful notice board with job vacancies if thats what you're looking for and to let you know what entertainment they gave going at the hostel. While the supermarkets are a wee way away 50 metres around the corner is the bus hub. you can catch it to the supermarket, shop and walk across the road and catch another one back. Absolutely recommended 👍

The amenities is very well maintained and clean. Staff are knowledgeable and very accommodating especially Joyce. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and book again on my next visit.

A hostel that's located in downtown Tauranga next to all the bars, shops, and restaurants. The beds are very comfy and the entire hostel is one of the cleanest I've stayed at on my travels....best part is the amazing view of the waterfront on the balcony!

We stayed here for the first night they were open and it was absolutely stunning. The artwork is remarkable and the staff was so lovely. Rhys the night warden was such a great host and was so nice about us checking in at 1 AM. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful and you can't beat the view from the balcony. Matt the owner asked us our thoughts on the place and was very open for any suggestions on what to improve. Would highly recommend spending the night here.

Such a beautiful hostel right by the water front. Stunning views from the room and the roof top. The staff and owners were so welcoming and friendly. Renée was wonderful at check in and throughout our stay, she was so helpful along with Val. Rhys the Welsh guy was so friendly and gave us so many tips on what to see in the area. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Just went to an awesome open mind night up on top deck playing for free. They put on some drinks and pizza and someone even did the haka. Awesome experience and I didnt expect it from a hostel. Will definitely come back cause it was truly an awesome experience.

Awesome place to stay! Newly renovated and right on the waterfront in the city center of Tauranga. Best views in town for sure! Staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Rooms are all new, bedding is new, everything is clean and new. Awesome vibes and for sure the nicest hostel I’ve seen and stayed at in New Zealand!
