Reviews of Anchor Motel
I had a problem with blue dolphin motel. Anchor motel saved me. Host knows about hospitality well. And actually price was cheaper than blue dolphin. I saved $15 a night. Room was much bigger maybe three times bigger. I really liked their beddings. I think their quality is very very good. Now I don't need to look for motel. When I go Timaru, I just go Anchor.thank you very much for your hospitality.
Anchor motel is affordable, friendly, clean and the three different rooms/units we have stayed in have all been spacious. My preschooler calls it a 'little house' which as accurate as they're much more than a motel room. Nice and close to everything with great parking. Thank you Anchor will definitely be back next time
I liked the Anchor, I liked the slightly uneven floors and character paint on off plumb walls. it's old and has character. It is however clean ,comfortable and the unit we stayed in was huge. Beds comfy, water preasure good, close to everything and most importantly.... dog friendly. Great hosts too. Will definitely be back when next in Timaru.
Great location, great price, amazing facilities, and awesome hosts. Value for money can't be beat. Lost a star due to traffic noise but to many adventures to be had to hear when tired from the many adventures.
(Read all of my comment as the stars don't tell the whole story).
Hey Rachel, I stayed in unit 10 very recently. I am going to give you a 5/5 because your service was fantastic- Rachel (the manager) had the room warm and ready for our late arrival and was welcoming and very helpful esp. as we had to return after giving back the keys to pick up something we forgot.
With regards to the Anchor Motel, it is what it is. It is a 3 star, budget place. For the price tag you are paying for what you get. Yes it is dated, yes it probably needs a builder or 10 to bring it into this century (or even the year 1986 for that matter) and yes there are a few interesting looking characters that appear the long-term backpackers next door which appears to be more a boarding house. If you are travelling through and literally just need a place to sleep this is great value . Credit where it's due, the management and staff do all they can with what they have and they will do all they can to ensure you leave with a smile on your face. Bed and cooking facilities were decent.
All and all it is a bit of a Store.High.In.Transit-hole but you get what you pay for.
Needed a place to stay with our doggie. Very accommodating stay. All you need for one night. Owners a great laugh. Close to Bay and food. Bed very comfy in the 2 bedroom apartment.
Easily found on the main drag into town, in the 'motel district'. Very clean, comfortable, and possibly the warmest room I have ever stayed in - the heating was great. A bit of traffic noise but it didn't bother me too much.
Overall, this place was 3.5 stars, really; it was a very decent room for the price. The rooms were spacious and included a full kitchen with microwave. The staff was friendly.
Cons: the wifi did not work, even after we told the staff it was not working. Also, water pressure in the shower in our room was weak.
A perfectly fine room for the money, though
