The "welcome " from the guy on reception was underwhelming he couldn't even raise a smile. The room while comfortable enough left nothing to the imagination when the guests upstairs used their toilet! Bathroom needs upgrading, shower over bath OK but hand basin very crazed.
The restaurant staff were great. The two servers were rushed off their feet but my dinner was great Young lady on check out very pleasant.

Friendly service and good food. Our room was very comfortable with a great view. The only disappointment was that some staff serving customers did not wear their mask properly which defeats the purpose of wearing it.

We took a friend and their toddler for breakfast. The Continental platter was epic. Three tiers of food and a handmade coffee. I had granola with fruit, yogurt and milk, then some pastries, cold meat and cheese. Friendly helpful staff who totally looked after the toddler were a credit to themselves and the restaurant. Well done team!

Amazing views of Lake Wanaka, friendly staff & clean/comfortable rooms. The laundry room was very handy after a few days on the road.

An absolutely beautiful setting. Excellent restaurant with great friendly staff. Not 5 star accommodation but very comfortable and very clean and tidy. I recommend.

The room view, was amazing. It was so lovely to walk out the back door and see the lake. The staff were lovely and helpful. The best was comfortable and the facilities were good.
Disliked · The rooms seemed quite outdated. The bathroom had a bit of mould in the grout and around the bathtub. The bathroom also didn't have good ventilation, so it stayed very damp and the condensation pooled in areas.
The rooms also weren't very sound proof. We were on the lower floor and could hear the upstairs people using the bathroom and walking around which wasn't great.

Some of the best scones around. Not too busy and great place to lax about with a quiet beer. Cheers

Beautiful alongside the lake for walks and swim. Our room was very good. They have a pool, but call ahead to see if it's in operation..or not.

Love this hotel!! Stayed here on and off over last 20 years. Pricing was good as just after Queens Birthday weekend and before ski season. Picturesque setting on shores of Lake Wanaka. Easy cycle or walk into CBD. Bonus is the Spa and Sauna (takes 20 minutes to heat up).

Went for brunch the scones were amazing. But after waiting an hour for our coffee, we cancelled then and went elsewhere. Need more staff.

Had the lakeside view 1 bed apartment, views were amazing & a very big apartment. The room comes with a washing/dryer combo machine with detergent which came in handy for us.
The kitchen also has a 2 burner stove top, washing liquid & even tea 2 tea bags. A weird thing we found was a packet of biscuits which was already opened with 1x cookie left in it. Surprised the housekeeping didn’t replace it considering covid.
The nights are pretty cold & very glad there were heaters in both areas which warmed up the rooms very quickly.
Breakfast options are either continental or cooked breakfast (see pics). It is small & basic, hash browns could’ve been slightly more crispier. There is also beautiful views of the lake depending where you sit during breakfast.
There is also a girl at reception that can have a rather frosty, irritable & rude nature depending on her mood (experienced it first hand then also saw her doing it to other customers the following day). We came across other staff who were more polite & courteous, which would be more suitable for reception.
Also it is not your usual hotel as the rooms are grouped together by blocks & there is no lifts just stairs which may get tricky to carry your luggage. The town is also about a 20-30min walk so would recommend driving to town especially if it’s cold & at night time. It was approx a 5min walk to see the Wanaka tree & a trail that you can take from the back of the resort.

We are so happy we chose Edgewater for our elopement wedding in August. It was such a beautiful setting over looking lake Wanaka with its snowy mountains in the background.
The staff at the Edgewater were awesome. We would like to thank Alexandra in particular who organised and planned our wedding and ensured everything ran smoothly in the background. She made the whole process stress free and relaxed contacting all the suppliers on our behalf. She even organised flasks of mulled wine and a picnic for our helicopter trip up to the mountains which was a real highlight. We also owe a big thanks to the restaurant team and their friendly waiters especially Sunny. They were very professional and looked after us and our guests really well on our wedding night.
The wedding team at Edgewater use excellent local Wanaka suppliers and take all the hassle out of planning a wedding. The food, suppliers and service we received was awesome . I would highly recommend them.
Thank you for creating an incredible wedding day for us!

Beautiful comfortable rooms with really friendly staff. Grounds are well kept and the rooms are clean with amazing views!

Stunning views of Lake Wanaka from lovely rooms.
Really comfortable bed, excellent walk-in shower with wheelchair access.
Really hospitable, helpful staff who put a ramp out so you can access the restaurant.
A good menu and wine list.
Definitely recommend this hotel.

Amazing place in an amazing location. Cozy rooms, and we got one with awesome lake views. Great restaurant, hot tubs and above all the friendly staff. Love these folks
J.
Wonderful scene from our room of snow capped mountains and glistening lake views. Room was spotlessly clean and well eqipped. We dined in house and our meals were excellent. The only thing I would complain about would be the total on the alcohol bill we paid the next day 😁
But that's our fault !!!
G.
Great resort this one, great coffee and the best view while having coffee and awesome fresh made scones.
S.
Nice walk around lake from wanaka's main center to resort, good place to relax outside with a wine / beer and take in the views

Lovely folks helped the family celebration of mother's 90th. Great venue and catering.

Amazing friendly staff witnessed tourists that were unbelievable hopefully all couples in their 70's aren't absolutely unreasonable like they were

There is a reason this place has the best rating, and it's not because it's the newest or the best design (because it doesn't)... It's the location and service!!! :) really enjoyed. Great staff. Lovely atmosphere. Recommend.

What a hotel one of the best if not the best in NZ! We got a big and spacious apartment with excellent views. Everything was so clean, impecable and spotless, something a bit difficult to find in this country, Edgewater manages it to perfection! The stuff at reception super friendly and the stuff in the restaurant was incredible kind, delightful stay, good food at the restaurant and I totally will be back ! It’s an international high standard hotel! I am a travel writer for magazines in my birth country.

We really liked the place and the staff, and especially loved the buffet breakfast, but there were a few things that left us disappointed. Although we were only there for two nights, we never had access to the spa with both the sauna and the hot tubs being out of action throughout our stay. Then in the room little things that should be easy fixes were just left as is; the broken door handles, the upturned lino around the toilet and the gathering dust and dirt down the sides of the dryer. But this can easily be remedied. That said the staff were great and the location is brilliant especially if you have a young family. Would I recommend it? Yes, but hopefully they read this and get the little things sorted.

Don't know about the hotel but the scones here are amazing. The cafe has a full scone menu, both sweet and savoury. Dog friendly (outside area only).
R.
We went to have their famous scones. We got four different flavors and they all were so delicious , light and very fresh. Would definitely go back again when visiting Wanaka. The waiter was so very friendly and helpful
J.
Very professional and personable front counter staff member.
Directions a tiny bit confusing on how to get to unit but front counter staff member marked on map how to get to unit. Excellent idea.
Was concerned one portion of my review has not been commented on by Management. The dip in the flooring from one side of room 104, from bathroom door to the balcony on the other side.

A hidden gem in the busy Wanaka. Sitting at the lovely quite area and facing the lake. Only a minute walk to the lake front, have a swim on the lake and come back to the hotel sauna and spa is an option.
Friendly and helpful staffs. Tennis Court, Buffet Breakfast, bar and restaurants. $2 per load for laundry.

Luxury. Really enjoyed staying here with my family. We had the spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Beds were very comfortable and entire space was exceptionally clean. View was delightful and setting was perfect. Staff were helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend.
C.
Beautiful setting. Lovely restaurant. Excellent customer service.

Despite there not being a cafe on its own on the map, I'm still primarily writing about this brunch experience and our waiter's relaxed and friendly nature... And the grass, wow it's so green and beautiful! This area is really nice overall and the reception/dining areas are very classic in the mountain lodge kind of way. Most of the food dishes range about $25+ but are plenty tasty, including the unique Baked Eggs brekkie. So, grab a coffee or bite to eat, sit outside, and marvel at the water across the lawn. You'll just feel at peace here, at least we did over the course of an hour.

Amazing location, awesome units, excellent meals.
M.
Perfect location! It's a great place wish the long weekend was longer. Lovely views of lake Wanaka and a short walk from town.
M.
Loved it.! Excellent accommodation and food service!👍😉

The hotel offers amazing, spacious, well-decorated, well-equipped, comfortable and clean apartments.
Beautiful Lakeside view, and there is also a lakeside pathwalk suitable for refreshing 30 minute long walks - to the sports bars nearby, ha!
An alternative is to call a taxi, and only takes 5 minutes to get to a busy street with plenty of bars, restaurants, and convenience/grocery stores. Very convenient.
Excellent overall experience, would definitely stay here again.

Lovely place and ambience. Quiet and peaceful.

The property is beautiful and situated just less than 5 minutes from downtown Wanaka. They offer bike rentals and residents can bike around the lake to Wanaka. The reception is 24 hours which is a plus. There are in house dining options as well.
Our stay here was very pleasant except for the bed. Staff were friendly and attentive. The property is beautiful. The rooms are well sized and equipped, no complaints there. Everything is really nice and tidy, clean. But the hotel really needs to consider changing their beds. The room we were in had a sunken in bed that was really unpleasant to sleep on. For that reason we are giving this place only 3 stars. But if they fix the bed situation, this is a wonderful place to stay in.

What a superb hotel and we had the most beautiful suite ground floor overlooking the beautiful lake. Special place for special memories. Lovely bar terrace and reasonable drinks. Beside a walking track but not too close in your face. We enjoyed the lake walk into town and facilities of lovely Wanaka. The staff cannot do enough for you . Wish we could have stayed longer!
R.
I have only eaten here and the food is wonderful. Scones are exceptional too. The setting of the restaurant and outdoor seating area is beautiful. Can't wait to return.
L.
Lovely setting next to the lake. High quality bike rental available directly at the hotels (bikes are serviced weekly by the external bike shop). Scones in their cafe were excellent. Rooms satisfactory although we found the 10am check-out unnecessarily early.
S.
It's a shame we went with friends for a drink. The service was not good as we had to keep trying to get a waiter to get drinks. We would have stayed for a meal but we're never asked if we would like to stay. Remember this was when we were in lockdown 2 so we had to wait at the table and not go to the bar for drinks or order a meal. It appeared the male waiter was not really familiar with what was required. Get drinks get water to the tables then make sure the customers were not kept waiting for service.
T.
We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. Dining Room had a leak when it rained. Meals were nice at night. Room was clean. Enjoyed having Washing machine.
G.
Gorgeous place with spectacular views across the lake. Great place for coffee after a walk around thr bay
D.
The hotel needs some renovation. Especially in the bathrooms. And AC would be nice. We had a lake view suite, with really a nice view, of course at a special higher rate. Unfortunately there was an event with very loud music until 11:30pm, so we could not open the windows nor enjoy our balcony or even sleep. When we complained, we were compensated with 10% off for this night, unbelievable!!!!!
The service people were very friendly and extremely clean about everything. They were ordered to first service the rooms for the new arrivals, understandably ..... but annoying for the guests who wanted to take an afternoon nap or to take a shower after 3pm because room service could show up as late as 5pm!
