Great location. Very quiet peaceful side of city during new years period. Parking was a shambles. Paid 25 dollars per night only to sword fight with other guests staying at location. There's no system to monitor car capacity as we had to park on road majority of our time there. Room was good. Breakfast was OK too. Customer service could do with overhaul. 4 stars is fair. Would return to stay here.

Very good location!! New World and cafes just around the corner and the Beehive just a walks away. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was nice, although like everyone else’s reviews, the lack of aircon was kind of a miss. They did have a fan though which was great during the night. Cleanliness could’ve been better but overall okay. The room was a nice size, comfy bed and smart TV with movie channels to flick through which was nice. Enjoyed my time here overall, would happily stay again. ☺️

Location is great, handy to motorway and for walking downtown. Reasonable price. Having a restaurant on-site is great for tired travellers. Twin room was cooler than other hotels I have stayed at. Big ensuite shower/toilet room with a large mirror, but facilities were basic - shower nozzle height is not adjustable. Toiletries are nice...btw the hair-dryer is in the "kitchen" drawer.
The grab n go fridge at reception only has alcohol not snacks.
TV is centrally positioned for both beds.
There was a place for a luggage rack but no rack.
Handy placed electric sockets above the bedside table. A long desk with a view over a school to the cathedral and Beehive.
O.
Absolutely stunning hotel! Real relaxing and extremely friendly staff. This was my first time going here and I just can’t believe how relaxing it was here. The rooms are crazy nice. Nice showers and beautiful penthouse. Oh how could I forget also a MASSIVE beautiful pool. Can’t wait to go here again
M.
Awesome no frills budget accommodation. Will stay again. Clean, comfortable and friendly staff. Parking is an extra$25 dollars, but that's affordable when you consider how cheap the room is.
H.
The restaurant is inside the hotel. Nice setting with parking outside.
The food was nice though we did give some feedback to the kitchen about minor changes to the food we felt were needed. The chicken and cous cous was tasty, with the cous cous being better than the chicken surprisingly. Also we had the lamb. The sous vied lamb was delicious. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful.
My criticism was that they were out of a couple of basic soft drinks. Having worked in hospo myself i found it unacceptable to not be totally stocked up. Hopefully this will be rectified and not left to run out in the future. When we go out we expect to be able to order what we like to have. I felt that the supervisor was dressed well in a casual suit, but the other staff on the restaurant floor were dressed too casually for the setting.
G.
It's a very convenient location. I recon we should have booked a air-conditioned room. If you don't you just get a fan. And it's super hot.
K.
Room was clean and tidy. Lobby looks nice and spacious with an ok setting. Well-located. Night shift Staff were helpful but could be better, say they are a bit too familiar with the standard answers could have been simpler and clearer. Typical kiwi Breakfast rich not bad. Would Recommend to those who are not that picky
S.
Lovely staff, awesome room, great location, fantastic prices. Would stay again :)
A.
For a one night stop.over I have no complaints... great service and tidy comfortable room.
S.
Neat and clean hotel. Good location and very well presented. Car parks are on first come first basis which could lead to a hassle at times. Modern interiors, rooms are okay but I'd say on the higher side in terms of price for the quality and standards offered. Staff members could be more welcoming, friendly and cheerful. Otherwise they're pretty helpful. Customer service is okay but could be an area for improvement. There could be more done in terms of deals, promotional offers etc. Overall a cozy and comfortable place to crash.
J.
Perfect place to stay, and no complaints at all. Very friendly people. Meals delivered to.room as it was locked down. Only complaint $25 for parking and I parked on the street ?
J.
Really lovely stay would definitely recommend...staff were exceptional...room very clean food was lovely too
L.
Only went to the restaurant as I was visiting someone but the decor looks great and modern in the restaurant. Food was good, burger was tasty but did feel like it was missing something, was very basic for the price. Not heaps of beer selection on tap but enough to be useful. Service was reasonable but had to try get someone's attention to get another drink after 5 minutes or so of waiting with an empty glass.
M.
Nice and clean, friendly and helpful service, handy location, cafes and supermarket very close by.
Q.
Buffet breakfast quite small but it's fresh and hot.
A.
Nice and clean. Good food. Very nice staff😊
j.
Rooms okay and clean . The table fan was not quite good enough for summer nights
A.
Good food. Venue for a conference. It was ok. A bit tight in the rooms which are not shaped conducive for meetings.
F.
They offer clean and decent rooms for a very affordable price. The restaurant is also serves a wide selection of food that you can choose from. Breakfast wasnt complimentary but the continental breaksfast was very affordable.
C.
We went to the restaurant there and we'll worth the visit. The foyer is so warm and welcoming and staff were relaxed yet professional. Cant wait to go back!
T.
Saw reviews were low but booked anyway, thought it was great stay for the price. Has everything you need, isn’t a 5 star hotel but doesn’t claim to be. Staff were all friendly, think there could be a few more rostered on, during the breakfast one person was refilling buffet station, checking guests in as well cleaning etc. Buffet is similar to that of Rydges - wouldn’t opt in for the price, but was free during my stay. TV has many channels, beds okay. Short walk to CBS, nice stroll thru Parliment Gardens. Would stop here again.
I.
Our stay (5 nights) was great.
Had a bit of a hitch with one of our friend's rooms but the front desk team got it sorted quickly and upgraded it as well.
The price is excellent for what was offered - WiFi is fast and far-reaching, reception very helpful, clean showers (good water pressure too) and the central location was great - allowed us to explore most of the Wellington CBD in a brisk walk.
City Fitness gym is also a 5 minute walk so very convenient.
Would definitely stay again next time I'm in Welly :)
D.
Check in was easy and they let us in early which was helpful. The room was ok, it would be nice to have aircon but hey 1st world problems. The staff we friendly and the breakfasts really hit the spot. Location was top notch. Only real negative was little niggly things like the toilet seat was loose, mold on the window frames and shower. I think if they sort the small issues this place would get 5 stars.
S.
Central lift trundles along in the background like a San Francisco streetcar once your head hits the pillow. Weirdly soothing. 1 ply loo paper! Didn't know that existed - and it almost doesn't so take heed: one needs 3 times the "normal" amount of squares in order for it to be there to finish the job. Breakfast & customer service spot-on.
M.
Extremely clean and decent hotel right next to the parliment building. Close to supermarket and everything else is just a 5 min walk. About 15 min walk from Cuba street. There's parking. And reasonable.
K.
It’s not a fancy place ! But it checks all basic needs.
Good location in cbd, it is near to wellington train station and bee hive. Just next door you have super market to buy stuff it also has its own restaurant too, also you can go out to other places which are close by. very friendly staff, hotel lobby has good ambiance as well, they do have paid parking available for 20 NZD per night but also there is street parking available which is free from 8pm -8am and weekends are also free.
Room is okay, bed is okay, TV is a flat screen but not a smart TV, does not have Air condition, it does have a heater , rooms becomes very hot during summer and they have fan in room to cater the heat but then you will have to open windows. Wash room is old school. There is no mini bar, no water bottles in the room, no fruit basket, you have to request for water from reception.
Views from the upper floors are nice.
W.
Clean rooms and decent sized beds. Sheets and towels could have done with a quick check over for stray hairs as I found a few as I arrived but this was a very minor detail and didn't affect my impression of the place at all. Overall a nice affordable place to stay and in an excellent location.
T.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Thorndon hotel. A nice quiet room, very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. We had 2 x dinner and 1 breakfast , each of which was very good. No complaints except that they could perhaps look at the beds. Getting a little old. Woke up with a sore back. Thank you for a enjoyable experience.
D.
We got a deal at about $100 inc a reasonable buffet breakfast, which seems about right - I wouldn't pay the $240 or so I saw it advertised for today. Public area and restaurant are airy and attractive, though the description of having a view of the "lush gardens" (car park with a few trees) is perhaps a bit enthusiastic.
Our room was a Superior, which presumably reflects the spaciousness rather than the quality of furnishings, which are cheap. No double grazing, so lots of condensation on a winter morning, but we didn't notice any road or other noise. Soundproofing internally not great, especially in the bathrooms, but fortunately our neighbours were pretty quiet.
The undersheet on our bed was left a few inches short of the bottom of the bed, as it wasn't actually big enough for the bed.
S.
Very Welcome, family oriented. Staff are awesome. Lauren, beautiful and helpful lady. She is the best person to contact if you needed to hire a room for your event. Thank you and God bless you all ❤.
T.
We were in the unfortunate position of needing a place to stay after being told we had to vacate our house for the night.
We had two connected rooms.
- Clean rooms
- Unlimited WiFi with good speed
- Good location if you want to get out and explore Wellington or find somewhere to eat.
I would visit again. Highly recommend.
A.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Just had a revamp and looks great. Centrally located for ease but in leafy Thorndon rather than in the middle of the noisy city centre.
T.
Nice clean rooms, lovely bed and nice restaurant so you don't have to go out in the bad weather. Good for the price.
I.
We hired the conference facilities and were very impressed with the flexibility and professionalism of the staff. They definitely went out of their way to help make our workshop a success. Highly recommend to others
P.
Pretty good. I'd say it was delightfully satisfying for what we've paid for. Relaxed, quiet and easy going place. We enjoyed our stay here. The building is located in pretty quiet place. So there were no disturbance. We felt safe. We did not need to commute to go to places we intended to go. So I would say it is well situated in the city. There is a breakfast buffet which is always useful to have. It is not a five star hotel but who really needs a five star hotel for a short stay in Wellington. It is not perfect but it is convenient so that is enough. I would go back and stay here again on our next visit to Wellington.
G.
3 nights spent here on 8th floor. Room I had was tidy and well kept and clean by the housekeeping staff. Shower and toilet equally so. All staff were considerably pleasant and courteous to deal with and appeared fairly happy in their work. Shower had good pressure with constant temperature. A pleasant and professional place to stay and would most certainly be happy to come back here.
E.
I have just stayed for 2 nights and found the rooms small, clean and comfortable. It would have been good to have drinking water in the room.
The staff were really friendly and polite and happy to answer any of our queries.
Any meals we did have there were tasty and well presented.
A big hurrah to Paul his service was exceptional.
R.
Not the fanciest of hotels inside the room but worth what you pay. 3.5 🌟.
King size bed is actually two double beds side by side, so can't actually sleep in the middle.
Breakfast is a buffet type and is pretty good kiwi style breakfast.
Walls could do with a fresh paint in the room and sink and shower pressure not the best but suitable on the top floor. Lighting in shower could be better. Door chain lock mounted backwards, so not useful at all. Parking is $15/day but limited space.
Overall good value for money.
N.
We were checked in by Ono. She was friendly, happy, helpful and efficient. Our room was a bit disappointing. Smaller than we had expected. A big gouge out the bottom of the door. The shower could do with a really good scrub or updating. The only cutlery is teaspoons. The meals in the restaurant seemed pricey. Parking was cheap at only $15 a night. The bed was comfy. A reasonable view from our room. And points of interest are a short walk away.
N.
Room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. There was dirty dishes right outside our door for the whole time we stayed just sitting on the floor. The buffet breakfast was nice food but under stocked and not restocked for over 1.5hrs on certain things.
a.
Good hotel for a quick visit while at work. Excellent service & good food at the hotel. :D
C.
Stayed for 4 nights and had my meals here and charged back to office. Room was small could fall from door on your bed. However met all my needs. Was warm and bed was comfortable. Very clean and serviced every day. Breakfast buffet was good. Dinner menu a little limited but convenience of dining in was hard to beat. Staff were friendly and helpful, possibly a little inexperienced. Would stay for business again
S.
Reasonable location for the price. Room was tidy and bedding was comfortable.
Bathroom lacked space for our toiletries and exposed wallboards around the shower were unsightly. Coffee and milk were not replenished. Room lacked heating/cooling apart from opening windows which looked over the noisy motorway.
H.
It's a nice hotel but not excellent for the hotel in 4 star level! The rooms are small and the shower is like having a shower in a cage! It's too small! You have to stand still to take a shower! Nowhere to move!
M.
Very good rooms although some are noisy. Excellent lady receptionist on my day. There is a other lady receptionist who isn't really nice.
E.
Pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere of the place. Nice and hot water, pretty clean too. The rooms aren't very sound proof but it's good enough.
S.
+ Friendly service
+ On site parking
+ Very good mattress
- Breakfast rather basic, no great options for vegetarians
- The drain in the bathroom was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year
- Housekeeping were sloppy when replacing the towels
- Parking isn't free
L.
Really impressed. Small but very nice room. Great restaurant. Great on site parking $20.
C.
Very tired, under construction/remodel. Rooms are tiny. When were arrived and checked it it was a busy weekend so rates where sky high. Parking is tight. Front desk staff very nice, moved us to a slightly larger room. Had a nice meal in the restaurant. You need to book way in advance to get better rates for on hotels in Wellington...
K.
Excellent value for money, good location, came in off late ferry at 11.30pm but still greeted by very pleasant staff. Stayed room 709 - only drawback plus-size me but XS person shower
M.
Room not the cleanest- quite dusty and basin was dirty with pink gunge around plughole, and where singular taps used to be Also was a bit grossed out to see there was no mattress protector when I stripped the bed.... especially because there was a big yellow stain! Also one pillow did not have a pillow protector- not ideal. Room very basic, but did the job.
K.
The room was quite small for a family of 4 and very hot with no aircon only a dusty old fan. The TV could have been in a better location
S.
It was good for a night and the food was beautiful. Shame about the rude concierge in the morning. Did not smile and did not even ask how my stay was. All foreign people in NZ hotels not great at all. Just phoned again to confirm the arrangement with credit card and had another rude person on the phone. If you are trying to give yourselves a bad name then you are achieving that very well. The idea is to learn and improve from these reviews.
J.
Reception area is welcoming. The room wasn't very appealing. No drinking water in the fridge, they wants guests to drink from the tap or get it from the restaurant. The buffet breakfast they offered was alright. But refilling process of food was slow
S.
Thank you for such a lovely stay Thorndon Hotel!
Was greeted and helped by a lovely lady for check in. Flight was early and so I was going to drop my bags off and time waste in the city but instead I was given an earlier check in which was really appreciated!!
+clean facilities
+comfy beds
+fantastic shower water pressure
A.
Clean but a bit noisy, especially as there is no in-room aircon so had to leave the windows open. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food in both the bar and breakfast buffet was good.
K.
Great place to stay if on business nearby. It is also a near walk to town. Has everything you need. Very clean and quiet rooms. My room was near the lift and faced into the street but noise was no issue at all. Staff very attentive and the buffet breakfast is beautiful. If I was to be a princess though a bathroom heater would be nice
C.
Handy to city
Restaurant ok for day to day eating
Parking can be an issue
Room was not very sound proof from upstairs and hall noise
Clean
Heating but only fan for cooling
W.
The hotel room was nice. Small but functional. Loved the restaurant on the ground floor.
If I would have a complain is that the floor in the first floor can be a bit noisy while the bar is open. But that is not a biggie, as they close 9:30 pm. After that was nice an quiet.
And if you're traveling for work, it is a bit hilly to get to and from CBD.
D.
Good friendly service. Food was amazing.
H.
Hotel service was pretty good but room and shower quite small. We also found that there wasn't much food nearby and the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. Overall experience was positive. Recommended if you want to be near the train station, Beehive or the Stadium. :)
T.
I spent 6 nights here with my daughter and it was amazing. The housekeeping and wait staff were so patient and accommodating. And Ally the front desk manager was beyond hospitality and professionalism. She made us feel at home. It was my first trip to New Zealand and I look forward to staying here when I return. Walking distance from everything you need, really, including Wellington Station.
T.
Was a good stay, but too expensive for a 2 day stay especially not being ideally closer to the CBD.
Great Free Friday BBQ eat in at 4pm, it was a good feast
They do have free parking for those with rental cars but only around 7-10 spots.
Good front desk staff, nice and friendly.
G.
Good accommodation, nothing to fault. Outstanding service at front desk , actually all staff!
B.
Lunch was a disappointment. Pork belly salad wasn't pork belly at all. Just plain pieces of pork. When asked about it, I was told that if I actually wanted pork belly to order off the dinner menu. What's that all about??
K.
THE BEST BREAKFASTS! So many local people were just coming in and paying for the buffet style breakfast and leaving without staying as it was so amazing, the breakfasts had everything you could think of and a great selection of juices. They have free wifi and even provided a second bed for my mother in an other wise single bed room. Nice room layout and it was a reasonable price too, totally will come back again and I have recommended it to all my friends.
T.
Staff were friendly and helpful, reception area and bar/restaurant are all really nice, but the rooms are small and old, need renovation. no air conditioning in the rooms. great views from the top floor though and the outdoor area of the bar is nice.
T.
Rooms are nice, staff is very friendly. Free BBQ every Friday 4-5 pm! Wi-Fi is good. I didn't have a safe in my room. Breakfast was *not* included in accommodation, costs NZD 12-25 (continental buffé NZD 20 in weekends).
T.
I stayed on the fourth floor, which doesn't appear to have been renovated within the last 20 years. Was nice and clean, but very basic. For the price there are certainly better places to stay. But the photos on their website show much nicer rooms, so perhaps the other floors are nicer.
B.
Looked alright in the pictures.... It is obvious why they don’t show photos of the bathroom, it is absolute hideous with lino floors and a stainless steel base for the shower - felt like we were in prison. We felt dirty in the place, and wished we booked somewhere else. We wouldn’t recommend this place.
S.
Went to the Thorndon Hotel for breakfast buffet, not an over night stay. All the food was freshly cooked and delicious. Great selection of hot and cold food. Coffee was only average. Staff were helpful and restaurant was clean.
J.
Great location
Friendly staff
Clean room with windows that open for a wee bit of fresh air, delightful
A.
In New Zealand standard good hotel but for European visitors 2 star hotel. Bar drinks very expensive, food dinner and breakfast ok. Free parking before the hotel. Lobby renovated but rooms very used and smelling uncomfortable...
T.
Handy to the cake tin for rugby well presented Hotel, rooms alittle small but if wanting just a bed, ok, staff were awesome, even staying open for a late night drink, value for money, would stay again. Thanks Thorndon.
J.
Good value for your money.
Moved us immediately to a better room when we complained about the soft mattress.
S.
Great value for money. Staff very friendly, helpful and very professional. For a 3star hotel you get a 5 star quality and service. Partu at reception (I'm not to sure of his name) is first class. He greeted us by name and prepared our room key. Excellent marketing. People like it when they remember your name. Very clean and exceptional for a 3 star hotel. Food from the glasshouse restaurant tip top. I will always return to this hotel. Fabulous.
C.
Great place. Friendly staff. Best buffet breakfast. No secure parking would be its only downfall. And rooms are older style. But the breakfast made up for it :)
A.
Hotel was okay but breakfast buffet was nice. Front of staff could be friendlier as they never smiled and weren't very helpful with parking guidance. It didn't feel like that we stayed in a Rydges hotel.
D.
The hotel was very nice for the price we paid for it. They held a special Beervana BBQ to celebrate the event and for a free event it was really great. The Wi-Fi was fast, free and unlimited. Bed was comfy and the room was modern. Great place to stay and a very generous hotel.
M.
Regular visitor, always satisfied. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The free bbq on Friday evening is a bonus if you're here. My last visit with my family (of 4) and we had to stay an extra night at short notice and they were very accommodating and at a fair price as well. Restaurant provides a great meal and ambience. Close enough to CBD for shopping (10min walk) and a supermarket (2min). Parking is free on the street when you can find it but I choose to park with hotel which is competitively priced. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to rest their heels or head. Bless.
K.
I booked a room here to have a wee getaway. The hotel in is a great location in the city close to everything. The room was tidy and my stay was very peaceful no noise or the hustle and bustle of traffic. Would definitely stay here again. The room well priced and reception were easy to deal and friendly.
M.
I stayed here to attend an event in the city. I didn't spend too much time here but the time I did was good. The room was not super large but it was big enough and clean. The bed was alright though the pillows were a bit small. I'd stay here again though.
H.
Nice clean hotel at the quieter corner of Thorndon. If you’re visiting for pleasure and wanting night life, easier access to eateries then suggest you look elsewhere closer to the city. It’s quiet in the evening after office hour. Plus sides are good buffet breakfast.
D.
Thought it deserves a 4 star rating as it was spacious and light. Cleaning in the hallways would have improved it and although I sympathize they were a staff member down for breakfast on Sunday, those who were there were slow and not very helpful. I would stay again as its walking distance to most things.
T.
Good conference facilities and has restaurant and bar. Convenient for meetings with government and business. Good accessibility
S.
Lovely place to stay very clean.Staff are nice. But the bar needs to be attended more having to wait around for someone to come and serve u and the Restuarant staff need better training . Put u in the bar and forget about u.Say restaurant full and only handful come it not happy.Only good thing got a free wine for all the inconvenience they caused.
M.
This was my first time in Wellington and staying at your hotel. Everything was outstanding, the room was clean and cleaned daily, your staff were welcoming and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at your hotel. I think your lifts/elevators are outdated but that didn't have any effect on my review. I'd definitely stay here the next time I come down to Wellington.
T.
Wife and I stayed a night and were thoroughly impressed by the level of service shown by the staff on reception and maintenance. I hadn’t paid for parking at the hotel but when my car died after checking in, they helped try to jump start it (which didn’t work) then insisted and helped physically push my car into the parking lot while waiting for the mechanic. This gesture was a blessing as I had to rush back to work and couldn’t wait around.
Room was very tidy and well kept. The facilities were great and water pressure was excellent. Also, the free BBQ from 4-5pm was awesome and have heard great things from local friends about the buffet breakfast. Will definitely be staying there again. Ngā mihi nui!
J.
Was ok, room was real hot and bed kept moving here there and everywhere. However breakfast was yum as and staff were real nice
D.
Rooms small was a busy weekn so we had to wait 2 hours for our room as they wer short staffed..waited in bar and had free drink n they added a free buffet breakfast. That was best part of our stay food was fresh and amazing 🙂
S.
It is a bit dated but the staff are nice and its just what you need. The restaurant and bar are good. Don't waste your time with the room service menu.
R.
Nice clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff.
S.
Meal at GlassHouse excellent quality ,poor dessert selection only 4 Options and 2 were not available.
Cider selection bit light and first choice unavailable.
Great location great food and Service from the young team very good.Address small menu niggles and we are 5 star for sure
S.
Great location great service great breakfast
H.
Fine, probably helpful to have cold water in the fridge and shower caps. Small but important things. Place clean and bed comfortable. Lovely friendly staff.
p.
Booked this place for 2 nights with bed and breakfast last week Thursday and Friday. Bed runner in the room had a big white stain mark. Emailed the hotel to reserve a car park as suggested on the website. When went to reception I was told parking is fully booked and emailing in advance does not really help. I was told I can park on street and next day morning move the car to hotel car park if I find a empty space but a space can not be reserved means if I go out of the car park someone else can take that space even thought I pay for full day and I have to park on street again. Breakfast staff on Saturday morning seems lost. Have to sit on a half dirty table and have to help ourself for a clean cutlery from another half dirty table. I would have given 1 star but Tall lady on Friday breakfast duty was very helpfull and accomodating hence the 3 star.
I.
Not bad... Would expect more from Hotels especially If the name has 'King' In It. Old electrical equipments, no Sky Channels and Rooms need some Renovation. Excellent breakfast at the Glasshouse though It was really nice and It was for free as well!
A.
Our stay here was OK. Breakfast was nice and the room was clean but the bathroom was super dated small and didn't have decent ventilation so was basically a sauna.
F.
I stayed here for a week on my first visit to Wellington. Location wise is not bad. There is a supermarket around the corner about 5 mins walk from the Hotel where you can buy snacks, fruits etc since i couldn't cook in my room. I found about one or two restaurants on the road to Parliament but they close early much like the rest of the City. So for late night snackers, you'll need to walk some 10-15 mins for McDonalds down the road opposite the Station. The rooms were okay. I hated the small tea cups. The bed was comfortable. The meals were okay. The bar was okay too. Overall my stay at the Hotel was good. Its not really a luxury hotel. Its good place if you're on a short stay on business or adventure and can settle for comfort rather than luxury.
S.
Great place for family. Book a family room and get a king bed and two separate single beds. Lovely free BBQ the night we were there. Very friendly and helpful staff. Certainly recommend.
M.
We got a great deal, room was tidy, near supermarket and cafes. Would stay again. Also great location for ferry departure in the morning.
A.
Hotel is situated on the outskirts of the city centre, easy access for train station and good bus routes to airport etc. We didn't receive the normal warm kiwi welcome that we have become accustomed too. This is the most expensive hotel we have stayed in so far and the lack of room cleaning is poor. Had a cup of tea on night 1,night 3 the cups are still dirty with no way for us to clean them.
C.
Staff and service very friendly and polite and room quality very good. Only one issue.... upper floor rooms (8th floor) has very little noise attenuation through walls...therefore neighbouring room guests talking, coughing and especially playing their wall mounted TV....sounds so loud that it seems it's in your room....TV kept us awake till after 12 midnite and again restarted at 4am.....should look at sound deadening improvements...wouldn't be too difficult to address professionally....staff awesome....
S.
The receptionist Sally was very friendly and helpful she event lend me her personal charger so I can charge my cell phone. However, the bar & restaurant may need more staff. I have to wait 15 minutes for a beer.
A.
Overall nice place and location. The room was little small then expectation. But no complains
T.
Very friendly staff but my room was a bit small - and hot! Good value though.
J.
Staff great but rooms are a little tired. Also why do they insist on putting people right next door when there are rooms empty. Thankfully on top floor or noise might have been a factor.
J.
Nice clean room with queen sized bed. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
E.
Ideal hotel away from inner city streets but close to everything. A bit of a hike up hills, if your not use to that type of walking. Close to cafes and supermarket. Restaurant ok, set menu that didn't change over the 4 days I was there. Could do with a daily special.
A.
Receptionist was friendly and very helpful. Bathroom sink didn't drain properly. Room quite small and quite hot but was serviced daily with fresh linen.
A.
Cant speak highly enough about the polite, helpful and friendly staff at this hotel, who made our four day stay welcoming and enjoyable. The Hotel is centrally located within walking distance to many attractions. If I return to Wellington, this is where I will be staying again.
o.
Good rooms but the hotel wasn't built yet! Everyone knows that's stage one of making a hotel! It must be built!
S.
This is a reverse recommendation. My dealings with the reservations people was excellent - so far so good.
I am yet to stay - so hence the low score. If it gets better I come back and tell you like it is, if not the review stays the same - simple theory of time travel and relativity.
R.
Handy place to stay. Staff are awesome. Really nice breakfasts. Free wifi. Rooms are sufficient. Good place to stay
S.
Clean, nice shower, good location, easy check in and out. Bit of roll together in the bed.
G.
I had a very pleasant stay here. The room was very comfortable and the bed was better than mine! The customer service was also top notch.
Thnaks guys you're awesome!
S.
Have stayed for work ... central accommodation option....close to work ... nice breakfast options

Restaurant is great and the staff are excellent. The room had no air conditioning so I had to leave a window open and was kept awake by road noise from the motorway outside the window.
P.
Ok first thing to know is that these guys charge to park in thier car parks and they sell more parking than is available. So if u arrive back late you will be trying to find a park on the street. Other than that its fine breakfast is awesome.
H.
i can see they are busy so i try to hold off my order until the sort the big groups out that are dining in for dinner. but they insist i order now despite the obvious crowds. not long after i return to my room voila they are right behind me with my meal. and still apologising it took so long. thanks team. always feel at home when staying there.
M.
Neat and tiday. Nice staff. Bit old fashioned.
M.
Paid decent money and the walls where disgusting and cracked. have stayed in some hostels that where nicer. Its ok i would stay again but for half what i paid. 15 dollars for parking is a joke and your not guaranteed a spot.
P.
Convenient hotel, nice rooms and beds. Not so convenient if you're on a road trip because parking is a bit sparse.
V.
Landed in wellington in a very windy weather. Gut dizzy because of the turbulence. Went there early before two pm. The guy gave me my room after 10 minutes. I am so glad because I am so dizzy and tired and did not wait till 2 pm to go to my room. So happy for that and I will go back there definitely when I am in wellington.
T.
Hotel staff were friendly, free WiFi was fast and great, and the bar service was welcoming. Rooms need a bit of a refresh but still comfortable.
J.
Value for money as we were looking for something cheap but a bit run down eg dirty foyer counter and small broken things in the room. Other than that, comfy beds, warm room
H.
The Thorndon Hotel is situated in an excellent location close to Wellington CBD, train station and bus station as well as a short walk away from the city's most iconic features. The rooms are of a good standard for the price point and the restaurant offers some excellent food.
D.
Nice clean rooms, good location and friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the price but options were a little limited. Would recommend.
M.
Really Great Food! It currently of the 20/01/18 has rather average rooms and cleaning services. A good place if you want cheap.
L.
Convenient location with good view if city from upper floors and reasonably priced
P.
Really comfortable, warm, everything we needed. So close to the Ferries.
I would totally recommend 😻
J.
The conference rooms were very well sized and had all the amenities one would expect from a business conference centre. Catering was excellent. No request was to much to ask.
p.
Great customer service, friendly staff, clean and tidy rooms... Very central too 😃
R.

If you're looking for room m2 and descent shower pressure, Thorndon Hotel is perfect. Clean and tidy room, comfortable bed, extra long pillows a plus and little noise from traffic. A short walk to CBD and farmers market Saturdays.
D.
Very nice place, loved our room biggest of any that we had stayed at so far this year, the bed was huge.
N.
Very friendly and helpful staff and great breakfasts, but evening meals were terrible. Housekeeping service was inconsistent and had to call every evening for tea bags
L.
Lovely customer service, clean rooms and close enough to town to walk without too much noise from cars driving past. I would definetly recommend a stay here.
M.
Very basic small unit, minimal amenities and no view other than buildings and windows only open 10cm so was stuffy but walking distance to alot was ok
S.
Small and outdated room with no aircon. On the plus side everything was tidy and clean. Friendly staff and good options from the restaurant.
D.
This hotel serves my needs very well, being conveniently located and having a clean and tidy room. It is not the place to be pampered with unaccustomed luxury, but not does it claim to be.
S.
Good VFM stay for room and breakfast. Large bed clean room. Breakfast OK. Negatives - no vegetarian options and coffee machine not working
M.
Fantastic stay, very friendly staff, super comfy bed and their food was excellent as well. Will definitely stay there again!
T.

A.
Place was cleaning. Stayed at room 902 which was quite small. Towels hanger is too close to toilet. No hand washing soap or gel.
K.
