R.It is lovely and clean. Room has lots of space and has been recently renovated. Very central to the city. Car parking on site and free internet.
Only issue is the curtains do not cover the windows well enough and light gets in, which with a baby does not help getting them to sleep.
M.Check in was friendly, efficient and informative. Though I did have to wait at the entrance and figure out how to get in. But once I read the info it was fine.
I was upgraded at no extra charge to an upper floor (as I did request a higher floor).
Rooms are freshly painted, clean, simply furnished and quiet.
Car parking is available at $20, considering that all day street parking in Wellington is $18.50 that's good value.
Location is great. Te Papa a five min walk, Lambton Quay 10/15 mins. Supermarket just across the road.
Views were awesome from the 9 th floor.
Bed and pillows very comfy.
And finally, awesome value if you book via their website.
Only potential negatives are lack of airconditioning and room doors that bang on shutting.

H.One of the better priced hotels I stay at in Wellington central, no AC which is a huge negative in summer, although the room is very clean for the slightly aged condition. Staff are always very professional, and overall vibe is good with reasonably quiet rooms. Having parking onsite with easy access to car is very good.
S.Great place for the price to stay at. New world right across the road and a few eateries nearby. Parking is plenty on the backside but is paid separately. Sadly, no air conditioning here but a fan was provided. Entrance can be a bit tricky when first coming by car. Good view from the hotel. Otherwise fairly clean and comfortable.
a.Great staff.they helped me with a cake I needed put in chillers. checked in over 2 hours early,was not a problem. security rang me late at night to say lights were on in my car.
And I was able to leave car in carpark well after checkout.
Nothing was to much trouble.
Clean rooms,comfy bed and pillows.
Great shower.
If I had to find something to complain about,is no plugs nxt to bed...

B.We took up the week package that came with breakfast. I was here about 10 years ago so it was a repeat visit.
The hotel has been around for a while but is comfortable and does not too “look” aged except for the bathroom. Our room was adequate for the weekend. The breakfast either cooked or buffet was very good and we both enjoyed it. We also ate the evening meal in the restaurant and the meals were very good. The staff were very friendly and we did not have to wait too long even though on Saturday there were two large groups.
Parking is the reason we return here. There is a large parking area right behind the hotel with easy access. It does cost $20 a night which is on the lower end of parking in Wellington on a long weekend.
Location is great for access to the harbour walks and Te Papa. There are also local markets close by.
The only negatives we have is that the walls are very thin. With a school group in the next room we could hear every word. People outside in the hallway sound like they are in the same room. Thumping from above can be a pain. After a complaint the staff were only too happy to move us to another floor which was better due to no one next door. But still noisy from above.
The rooms are warm. Great in winter but there is no way to adjust the heating and we found it simply too hot during the night. A drop in a couple degrees would be good.
There is no fridge in the rooms. They will give you fresh milk but of course only good for making a drink at the time
It might take us another 10 years to return but will still consider the hotel if we were to return
L.Pros: New World supermarket across the street. 5 mins walk to Courtenay Place restaurants. Good strong and hot shower. Reasonably clean rooms and restaurant on site. Cons: rooms are basic and showing signs of age. Bed was sagging. No air-conditioning so if you are visiting in summer it could get warm there is a fan but windows don't open much so its hard to get fresh air in the rooms. Not enough power points to charge all your devices.
S.It's quite pricey for the considering the quality of the amenities. Looks like a very old hotel and could use some refurbishment. Wellington is a very windy city and the windows of the rooms don't help at all! It was so noisy plus there are bars and venues in the area which made it more complicated to sleep. And I was in Wellington for work!
I suggest you check the room first to make sure that the windows and the noise won't be a problem for you.

J.The hotel itself not bad. It served its purpose which was a bed to sleep in while visiting Wellington. Room was ok, quite cosy actually. Didn't try the restaurant as we felt it was overpriced for what was on offer.
One concern that I would raise is that the back entrance from the carpark, anyone could walk in off the street and they are straight in where the rooms and elevators are. No swipe card etc needed to get in or use elevators.
That's a concern.
J.Convenient to shops. Great location. Good customer service. Room needs an upgrade with no kitchenette and shower head is from 1950's, also no AC which is not good. Would be great to have water bottles if there was no mini bar.
A.Very efficient and helpful staff. Rooms always clean and tidy. The restaurant menu was limited but what we had was amazing beautifully presented and delicious. Great place to stay.
S.Stayed in a parking facing room. Basic but cosy rooms with comfortable beds. Parking is not free but I have never found it hard to find a spot whenever I’m staying there. Walking distance to shops and the Bay which is great if you are here for sightseeing. All in all a highly recommended hotel if you are visiting Wellington.
D.We wont be going back soon as the rooms have almost no kitchenette or kitchen facilities.
The venue itself is however super convenient to te papa and oriental bay etc.
The good news is that the electricity was reliable the lifts worked well, the hot and cold water was reliable.
Would have benefitted from sound insulating the windows to reduce outside noise.
Our toilet seat was worn well beyond the standard I would have expected for a hotel as pricey as this.
R.As per previous reviews: location is fantastic close to central city and Te Papa and with classic Empress movie theater just a short walk up street a few doors down.
However as per many comments read previously, rooms require an update, and specifically maintenance (our shower bar nearly came off wall with water shooting out of all but shower head-managed to avoid a plumber rescue and let staff know it needed immediate attention). Also, during any renos , a more appropriate sink option (higher set spout/deeper bowl) needs to be considered so that kettle can fit under spout and be filled without half emptying again while trying to get it out of sink. Air con needs to be reviewed, as our room was quite warm and not sure we had means to adjust temps.
We were only there one night, so this hotel sufficed, but would only stay again on a discounted rate. Our room faced street as per our request, with great views of city and harbour. The windows can be opened with secure stays...though one of ours was broken so we kept it shut for fear of flying sideways and shattering window.
The Restaurant on 1st level above ground level with wall of windows to same views made dining pleasant for watching the world go by...or in our case, during our buffet breakfast, a cavalcade of dignitaries in limos with police escorts (both motorcycle & car) at front and back. Oh, our stay included a continental brekky but with surprise $10 discounts offered at check-in, we opted for that plus cooked breakfast.
Overall, hotel staff were very friendly but management would be wise to ensure an investment in a serious upgrade to rooms or at least fix broken items. Potential to have this as a well placed accommodation is definitely there. Would recommend for short stays only.
J.We had a great stay here recently and would love to come again. Staff were helpful and friendly above and beyond what we expected, the location was ideal, the food was nothing short of amazing, and the room was terrific value for money. While a little scuffed and worn overall this hotel is a good one: a few cracked tiles and wobbly chairs can be forgiven if everything else is great! Highly recommended.
I.Amazing place to stay, I was on level 10, stunning views over the lower city and harbour. Supermarket also straight over the road. Having a restaurant on site is great, lovely helpful staff in that area as well. I planned to have a main and desert, but couldn't. My simple fish and chips (kiwi classical dinner) with fresh salad was huge, and superbly cooked. I struggled to finish it and had no room for what I'm sure would have been an equally stunning desert. I waddled to the elevator and lay like a beached whale watching tv for the rest of the night. 10/10 will stay there again.
K.The rooms are nice and tidy. We wouldn't ideally stay there again unless looking for budget accommodation. Only thing that we didn't like was there was no air conditioning, no sky TV only freeview. And we booked a room with a view and got to see New Worlds roof top :( .
The made up our room everyday and when we checked in it was a lil wait before getting attended too. Parking was $20 a day and it was in the open, no secure parking :( .
M.Perfect spot for a holiday in Wellington set along Oriental Bay, a stones throw away from Te Papa musuem. 10 minutes walk to Courtney Place.

R.Not the most modern accommodation in the city, but extremely well priced and PERFECTLY located. I would strongly recommend booking a car-park and walking to your destinations around the inner city. I will most definately be staying here again.

N.When in Wellington, a place you can look out for is Bay Plaza which offers a bit of the old world charm including a playlist which the Manager plays reminding you of melodies from a bygone era
The hotel is old but well maintained and whenever the Wellington wind threatens to rattle its windows, somehow the Plaza pulls thru and offers comfort
Rooms are average sized and it is well located
Food is standard and there is a supermarket open till 11 pm right across which is an added bonus
Restaurants are located within a 5-7 min walk and many other shopping and recreational centres are within walking distance
