M.
Bit noisy, but it is the city after all. Cookies on arrival were a nice treat. Update. Sorry I make it sound super noisy. It was cool, there was some work going on down the road. 🤙🤙
D.
Convenient, cost effective and right in the middle of town. Friendly, helpful staff, convenient and reasonably priced car parking. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in town
M.
Great location and provided everything I needed for the stopover from Cook Strait ferry.
J.
Nice hotel with modern decor and friendly staff. Only negative would be noise from water running down the pipes in the walls and trucks outside most mornings.
Overall nice hotel and good value.
P.
Good, well kept rooms with decent space. Because of surrounding buildings there is often not much natural light however. Good, friendly and helpful service. Excellent location for city access, with either a steep hill for exercise or lifts available. Room came with free gym & pool access in Majestic Centre.

We spent 4 nights at the Gilmer Apartment Hotel; 3 nights in the queen room and 1 night in the two bedroom apartment. The location is great for walking to Lambton Quay and surrounds, and the hotel and facilities were modern and well-equipped; comfortable beds and pillows were a bonus.
The only downside was the queen room was very stuffy and hot, to the point we could barely sleep - we addressed this with the front desk staff who asked us if the heater was on (it wasn’t) and if we’d opened the window (we had, which let in quite a bit of noise and smell from outside). They then told us there was nothing else they could do. Upon moving to the two bedroom apartment on our last night, we were disappointed to find that this apartment was equipped with a pedestal fan, and that we weren’t offered the option of sourcing one for our first three nights from another room.
Overall, the accommodation was really good, and the service was friendly, but could be improved.

Value for money. Quiet location in the city centre. Lovely comfortable beds. Great, friendly service. Enjoy staying here.
C.
We loved our little apartment suite here at Gilmer. The laundry machine is extremely convenient for travelers! The hotel is five minutes’ walk from downtown and the staff are lovely. The only complaint I have is the parking garage next door, which shined bright lights into our room all night and the sound of car doors slamming would frequently wake us. This however is not the fault of the hotel and if you’re a heavy sleeper it won’t matter. We’d definitely stay here again.
T.
The hotel and staff was awesome. The location was GREAT! The only issue was the cab driver didn't honour the $29.00 flat rate fair to the airport. We were charged $37.00. This is not a reflection on the hotel but, if there is a partnership between the two businesses, the cab driver failed to honour their deal in the partnership.

Just make sure that, if you are checking in after hours you get the right code for the key lock. I spent 20 mins on the phone outside in the rain and they were giving me the code from the day before.
But overall the service was good. The rooms are quite big and they well equipped with microwave, hob, fridge, a little tv and washing machine. The staff is friendly and helpful.
G.
Located in CBD, but slightly difficult to find as it's hinding behind some buildings. It's clean and surprising quiet. Offer gym access although I didn't use it. Friendly service.
D.
Reception from all staff is friendly, helpful and smile😊and accommodate your needs as much as possible. I am dependant on Càregivers to help me and needed some help after hours last week. I was in bed with broken leg and could not let in as was one without key. Management were contacted as live on site and Iet her in after-hours. Is one of the best wheelchair accessible bathroom and studio unit for a wheelchair I have had. Very reasonably priced, free daily paper and nothing is too much trouble. I try to treat them and others how I would like to be treated, with kindness and a smile and they do that in return.
Only thing I miss is a lighter, sunny apartment as between buildings, but everything else makes up for that. I can wheel outside for my sunshine and harbour fix. Doors are fire doors so very heavy to bedroom, only suggestion I could make, could they be lightened?
N.
Not the best hotel I have stayed in but if you are looking for a clean hotel in the center of the city this will fulfill that need. The room we had was small and practically airless! The window does not open which is normal for many hotels and especially in New Zealand but they should have found another way to circulate air as that was uncomfortable. The staff was friendly and the bed was very comfy.
N.
My second stay at The Gilmer Apartment Hotel has been as wonderful as the first. Staff are attentive and thoughtful. When the wahine machine broke, someone came up immediately and the service person came out next day.
Make sure to ask staff how to take the shortcut to town :)
Countdown groceries can be delivered or pick up is a five minute walk.
This facility has ecofriendly shampoo, conditioner, and body wash built in to the shower so no bother of little bottles or running out.
All appliances in the kitchen look new and functional.
All in all, fantastic value for money.
R.
Great service and quiet and nice room.
S.
This is a great place to stay in Wellington. It's right in the centre of town and close to all the shops and restaurants. Our king apartment was spacious with a comfortable king sized bed, well equipped kitchenette, good WiFi, satellite TV and a washing machine/dryer. The bathroom was a little on the small side and there was a bit of street noise in the mornings but this is to be expected in such a central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
D.
Nice and clean. Washed a couple loads of laundry with soap provided in the room. Limited parking and a $20 charge per day for a spot.
5 minute walking access to waterfront shops and restaurants via a sneaky parkade elevator; makes you feel like a secret agent.
Front desk staff suggested restaurants and routes to get the most out of our one night in Wellington.
C.
Good value. Great location for car access and parking and close to walk to Lambton Quay. We were surprised that a double bed really was a double (usually at least a queen) so bed felt a bit cramped. Clean and tidy and room an acceptable size. Good for one night. Will stay again but aim for a bigger bed!!
A.
Very great experience here, clean and tidy, has a kitchenette, washing machine and skytv too! The bathroom is very small though and a bit of a noisy area but ear plugs were provided which made it better. I will definitely be back again.
C.
Our room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. We were close enough for an easy walk to Cuba St but far from noisy crowds. The staff was very helpful and I really appreciated that they did our dishes for us when we were out for the day.
S.
Stayed here for two night, Friday and Saturday. Was exceptional value for money. Comfy bed and the pillows! OMG the pillows! I want to find out where to buy them. They're amazing.
Had everything you need in a large hotel style room.
Shower was really nice. Couldn't say enough good things about this place.
Staff were helpful and friendly too. Would definitely stay again.
:)
B.
This hotel is unique in its location; walking through a series of steps behind it and you find yourself along Lambton Quay with all its pretty shops and diverse restaurants.and cafes. The rooms are also clean and equipped to give you sense of comfort and security. If you drive, it is close enough to the highway to bring you to places conveniently. I enjoyed my stay here immensely.
F.
Excellent apartmented to stay. 1 star less because they failed to arrange parking on first night despite i made a request during booking. but otherwise highly recommended. Clean, quite and nice room with all basic aminities and just a short walk to the main markets.
s.
Stayed here with my boyfriend for 8 days. Loved the location of Gilmer. Good for our medium-length stay, the kitchen was well-equipped, had a washer/dryer and comfortable bed. Only downside was parking was a bit expensive, and the view from our room was not the best.
J.
The location was good for us. Check-in was smooth with lots of information regarding the local area.
A neat shortcut to Lambton Quay was highlighted, and we found it very useful.
We booked the car park in advance. It's outdoors next to the apartment and there's limited spaces available. It's nice to have a washing machine/dryer in the room.
M.
Rooms have plenty of space. Kitchen is stocked with the bare essentials but it is all functional. Staff were friendly. Washer/Dryer struggles to dry even small loads of laundry. The city is accessible on foot.
M.
The place was modern, spacious and clean. Staff was friendly too. But the rooms face tall buildings and are quite dark. Also, the location is close to everything but it's not very attractive. Entries/Exits are in a tight back alley with parking lots and dumpsters around. Just got a bad vibe walking around.
A.
Great central location. Friendly staff, Aircon was either ineffective or just not operating. Room was fine, no lock on bathroom.
C.
We originally booked a different "hotel" which turned out to be awful, so we made a last minute booking at Gilmer instead. It was such a welcome change! The staff was friendly, the room was large and bright, and it had a washer/dryer. It was only slightly more than the first place but was exponentially superior. Super close to everything including multiple parking structures.
T.
First time staying in an apartment hotel. Excellent service. Room is great and facilities for a longer stay look very Good, including a microwave, two element hotplate, dual washer, drier, clothes horse and ironing board and iron.
D.
Clean, decent size rooms and kitchenette, helpful and accommodating staff with excellent pricing. (Don't come here looking for views of the city or water though.). Seems to be pretty close to center of CBD and very near cable Car. (I've stayed in multiple rooms, pics are of 2xdouble bed room with lounge area.)
T.
Clean tidy and well stocked apartments with washing machine and basic kitchen. Reception maned in the day with friendly staff. Good central location to Lampton Quay and the Waterfront. Would stay here again.
J.
Easy check in, I used Booking.com for my reservation and communication with the hotel was excellent. I phoned later to add a carpark for $20. The staff member I spoke to was kind and efficient. Easily accessed to and from the Wellington motorway. Friendly receptionist. Hand sanitizer on the counter. Comfortable room with plenty of blankets and pillows. Warm and cosy heating provided. Easy to use bodywash shampoo and conditioner system in shower - no fiddling with bottle caps. Spotlessly clean plates and cutlery. Washing machine in the room. Handy to Lambton Quay shops
j.
Unexpectedly great. Easy parking, easy after hours check-in, the rooms are very well setup with quality furnishings. And the price was great. We did expect a lot less for what we paid.
v.
Clean room with everything you need. Laundry, shower, kitchen. There was no air conditioning which wasn't a problem for us. It was in downtown so it was really convenient. Parking is pricey but it is expected in Wellington.
B.
Separate tiolet, kitchenette and roomy. Walking distance to the waterfront. Lots of good shops nearby.
k.
Just your average decent space. Love the hallways.
S.
Literally just apartments, as the name suggests. No offering of hotel-like things, such as food room service or the likes. But clean and nice if all you want to do is have a place to rest in.
P.
Staff here were lovely, we stayed here for a week on our travels to Wellington and had a pleasant stay. They are offering unlimited internet access for free now which was perfect as we had work to do during the week too. The internet speeds weren't incredible but they were usable!
They seem to be doing renovations of some sort around the building, so it was a bit noisy at times, however they didn't start until a reasonable hour in the day. It was a surprise though.
Great place with a kitchenette, comfortable bed and good heating. Close by to a supermarket, I'd recommend walking towards Cuba Street and Dixon Street for food at night. Options around the hotel aren't great.
Would give it 5 stars apart from the noise and an occasional strange smell coming from the drains (could be caused by other tenants on other levels maybe?).
Also - when arriving, if coming by bus, don't walk up the Plimmers Steps! Not a great walk - there's a better way. Instead, walk a bit further, going through the James Cook Arcade lift (The James Cook Arcade is situated between Storm and Maher on Lambton Quay), exit the lift on car park AB, walk up the ramp to B and exit onto Gilmer Terrace.
S.
Descent apartment near downtown Wellington. It is still 15-20 min walk to downtown though. Sparkling clean. The housekeeping crew do a good job keeping the place shiny. My only complaint is that our room is so tiny (indicated in their booking website). There is very little space in the room. Other than that, this is a good accomodation place.
K.
I stayed several nights at the Glimmer terrace apartments. They are called serviced apartments but are like staying in a motel in a hotel setting. The room was very comfortable and had everything so I could cook (pots, chopping board, sharp knife, stovetop, microwave), That make it good for a longer stay and when it rained and I wanted just to blob at "home" and watch SKY TV. I sleep very well. There was a bit of city noise at night from the carparking building next door....were they racing or what? The garbage trucks were quite noisy too. Seemed like every hotel garbage truck bangs along that road in the early hours. But still, it was a very good price and right smack down town. So I could walk everywhere. And I heard no road traffic. The entrance is tucked down a dreary backroad but once inside it is very nicely decorated. The desk staff were very friendly and offered suggestions on what to do and see.So far the BEST stay I have had in downtown Wellington, and that is saying better than some Hotels twice the price where you pay just for a pretty view! You also get to use the gym and pool near by! Free!!
T.
I really enjoyed my stay here, having been in on a train for around 12hrs I was so relieved when we found this was clean and comfortable. It was reasonably quiet for the city and the staff were so friendly. Great value for $99, will definitely do serviced apartments in the future.
A.
Handy to town although you need to go through a carpark or up Plimmer steps and round the corner to find it. The decor is a bit dated with the bathroom being mostly 80's plastic. Service was good but reception is only open certain times of the day. The rest of the time you are diverted to an after hours phone service to talk to.
B.
Was a great stay. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to please their guests. Comfy bed and clean rooms.
M.
Nice rooms, but they could do with a reception presence until 10-ish.
E.
Great for business travel. I have also stayed at a nearby "business travel" chain, but the Gilmer apartment offered better facilities, better internet and better price than the chain hotel. The absence of a dining room does not bother me, given the exceptionally convenient central location to Lambton Quay.
M.
Overall I like this place.
Pros: the housekeeping staff are ultra lovely. The room is wonderful, there's a table to work on and plenty of powerpoints, the tea provided is really nommy. The wi-fi also works!
Cons: there's occasionally a really bad stench that comes from the sinks, loud construction work constantly happened throughout the day (not at night while we slept) and the knives provided in the kitchen were blunt.
Also, bring your own shower cap and tissues! We had to buy ours because they weren't provided.
H.
Place was clean and tidy and close to CBD
Only 1 little complaint TV was not working due to one of the cables missing a connection but apart from this all happy with the stay there
M.
Great centrally located place! Friendly faces to greet you, and with (paid) parking next to the building, it's ideal. Neat and tidy rooms too!
R.
Nice and tidy room for the one night I stayed. Checkin was easy. If you want to checkout early, you need to have prior arrangement.
B.
Great location close to the city centre and has kitchenette and washing machine which are useful for a longer stay. No air conditioning though and is noisy with the windows open.
A.
Awesomeness to the max service. Staff helped me from the moment I arrived. I had dizzy spells and the staff couldn't be any better. I give them 10 out of 10! Must stay apartment. They took me to my room. I can't fault them!
M.
Amazing place to stay. It is right in the heart of Welly and the service is just great! The rooms are so comfortable. We will definetely go back!
H.
Good location. Even it is in the commercial area, is lovated in a quiet street. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Good price
C.
Comfortable bed and clean room. Hallways were under construction during my stay. So many stairs to walk up to get here.
H.
Very nice, clean and comfortable apartment with easy access to Lambton Quay.
There us one issue though, the rooms do need air conditioning!
W.
Good accomodation, clean rooms, great shower. Relatively close main streets. A bit of a hike back and forth from main streets ia the only thing sropping me to give 5 out of 5.
R.
Highly recommended. Not overly flash but more than adequate and the staff were tops. Rooms very clean and comfortable
T.
My company often puts me up here when I'm in Wellington for the night. Decent prices, decent Wifi, friendly staff and nice clean rooms. I prefer starting here to a hotel.
M.
Very convenient to the heart of the city, welcoming and comfortable. Also within walking distance to Victoria University. It really was a great spot.
j.

R.
Great accommodation. Friendly staff, very clean and tidy room and excellent, central location :-)
P.
Well maintained studio apartments located right in the heart of the CBD. I like their proximity to Lambton Quay which means most of the Wellington City Centre is just a short walk away.
J.
Well equipped rooms, but in difficult to reach area…unless you know how to go by the short cut through James Cook Hotel lift and car park
R.
Been living here for half a year. Has all basic needs and in a good location. Only bad thing is the internet. Their internet provider is overpriced, unstable and very slow.
a.

Steffan the manager was super friendly and helpful . The room was clean and quiet and the location was really central for travel around Wellington .
J.
(Translated) The staff are really friendly and they are very good at housekeeping. However, it was very noisy outside on the evening of the first day. The bathroom is a bit small. The room was also cold because of the rain. And I think it would be good if you tell us how to use TV or heater. Bedding, bathroom and kitchen utensils are well equipped, but I am not sure if they are clean because they are discolored. Wellington's accommodations are on the expensive side, so I don't know if I should be satisfied with this price and in this condition, but personally I think the cost performance is low.

A.
(Translated) Clean and affordable accommodation. A little strange place and hard to find. But, for example, bus and train stations are within walking distance and there is no long way to park.
(Original)
Siisti ja edullinen majoituspaikka. Vähän oudossa paikassa ja vaikeahko löytää. Mutta esim. linja-auto ja rautatieasemat kävelymatkan päässä, eikä puistoihinkaan ole pitkä matka.
