Reviews of Novotel Wellington
It was a reasonable place to stay. Service is adequate. Breakfast delicious. Bedrooms clean but somewhat dated. Price is reasonable. Location superb as it's in the middle of the city and everything was walking distance. I was expecting more vs the hotel ad as my experience with novotel Hamilton was overall superior.
We enjoyed the hotel - our first stay here because our usual didn't have rooms available. The location would be great for when I travel for work, bit for a weekend in Wellington, it was pretty dire! Wellington - especially this area - is a ghost town. Everything looks scruffy and rundown, and in the culinary capital we struggled to find anywhere decent to eat that was open during this holiday period. The shopping was uninspiring too - even for the teenagers who had spending as their main goal but came away with nothing of interest.
We were very happy with our overall stay at the Novotel Hotel in Wellington. The staff was amazing, the room was wonderful. We were on the 5th floor and had a good view of the harbour and the city skyline. The hotel is quite dated and in need of renovation, but still very clean and confortable. The location is also superb and you don't need a car as everything is walkable. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. There is nothing to fault really apart from the shower head that is not removable. This really is my pet hate as it is so hard to wash and rinse properly without a hand shower head. Apart from that I would rate the hotel 10 out of 10.
Great location in the city centre, good sized rooms that were serviced every day. We got a harbour view which was a bonus.
Lambton Quay easily accessed downstairs - a little confusing going down to the city. Lifts are via the restaurant.
Easy access to the harbour walkway, and buses going past regularly.
Very central location to everything you want to see. We walked between 5-9kms a day which was easy to do.
A Woolworths downstairs for snacks or anything that might be needed.
We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed our meal - fish and chips. Good portions. They have specials each night between 4-7pm.
Great location, nice clean hotel starting to show signs of slight ageing. Checkin with a smile would have been better. I had included breakfast and it was worth it. And yes, the room decor is a bit weird, reminiscent of a crime scene. Overall, happy and satisfied.
Great weekend stay here as a family of 4 with two young kids. Kids were give a little kiwi toy at check I'm which was a lovely touch! The room was clean and really quiet, no street noise or anything. Quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. Our flight home was delayed and the hotel offered complimentary late check out til 2pm, we didn't take up the offer as we took the opportunity to explore Wellington more. Breakfast buffet was good with lots of options, kids ate free too! Great central location.
The hotel reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very tired and needs a refresh. I travelled for work and was put here by my organisation, but I would not come and stay here in a private capacity. I read a review about the wooden pallets in the lift area from 3 months ago. They are still there as per my photo. To have that area as the main area from car parking to the reception area was the first sign this hotel needs work. That little area smelled like the back of a restaurant where they tip fat from the fryers. One lift was not working from that area (also an issue in the 3 month old review). The internal lifts from reception don’t require a card swipe, so are insecure. Anyone can go on any floor. The room was okay, but so tired it seemed dirty. Stains in the carpet and sofa. And why do they tip the table up like that in the photo. That is how it was when I went to the room for the first time. The bathroom was clean, but very very tired. The bottom of the door was all worn and starting to peel. Sorry, not recommended.
Novotel Wellington is ideally situated in the city center, just a three-minute walk from the Wellington cable car and the main commercial street. Although the hotel shows its age, it is well-maintained, and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately, my experience with their member service was lacking. As a diamond member of Accor, I anticipated welcome amenities, but none were provided. When I reached out to reception, they stated that these amenities should have been arranged, yet even after I informed them of the absence in my room, no further action was taken.
I was also told that my room was upgraded to an executive room, but I found out that the mini bar would not be available since my upgrade was complimentary. Essentially, the executive room was just on a higher floor, with no significant enhancements compared to the standard room.
In my experience, Novotel Wellington offered the poorest member service in 2024 compared with other Accor’s hotels. I hope the hotel management will review the member service practices of other Accor hotels to improve overall member satisfaction.
We were fairly disappointed with our stay at the Novotel. We certainly were expecting much more. The rooms are incredibly outdated, the shower pressure was almost non-existent, there were tiles in the shower and bathroom that were coming up and in the shower itself we nearly cut our foot on. I think it needs a refresh and refurb, especially if charging the prices they are.
My first time staying in the Novotel Wellington (I travelled to WLG for surgery) and wanted a very centrally-located hotel.
Easy elevator access which takes you down to an internal arcade leading you out onto Lambton Quay, which saves you having to walk around all the way down The Terrace then around onto LQ.
Lovely restaurant and a fantastic breakfast (both buffet and continental) so much choice and their in-house fresh made smoothies were amazing!
Room was clean and tidy, very quiet with no noise or neighbour issues (was on the 1st floor).
All in all a very pleasant stay for the 3 nights there and would definitely book to stay again.
A family of four with two small children had a great day here before heading to Picton. After we checked in , our kids received a little kiwi toy, and it was so touching! The room was clean and really quiet, and there was no street noise at all. Welcome drink was amazing. This is the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. I asked for Valet Parking to ride Perry, and all the staff were friendly. We enjoyed the Wellington Cabke car and felt like we were gifted a beautiful evening. Great central location.
The location and dual-access of the hotel between Lambert Quay and Wellington St is terrific (although this could be better advertised). The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was of a good standard. Constructively, the rooms (and elevators) are due for a refresh and some variety with the pillows would be good, even just a mix of firmer and softer in the room.
This is one of the 2 places that I stay when I go to Wellington. It’s a small walk to the places I go to so, central to my needs.
Parking is a bit of a female dog yet that’s hotels in Wellington for you.
The room was clean, firm beds good pillows, nice shower.
For first time ever, the wifi was bad. Lost connection too many times so my work had to wait until I got back home.
My whanau and I arrived later in the evening 10pm from New Plymouth and were greeted by our lovely receptionist/concierge Ana, my 3 daughters have not been to Wellington before. Our Superior room was beautiful with scenic views of the City, full amenities and Wifi. An easy walk to all shops, cafes, restaurants. I would highly recommend to stay 💯😊❤️
Best nights sleep I've ever experienced in a motel/hotel - quite and comfortable.
Secure parking excellent service.
Stayed for a week while working in Wellington. The hotel and room are generally outdated and need a renovation, but they were mostly clean. The rooms are large which is fantastic, but uncomfortable beds, sagging pillows and a tiny shower which didn't always have hot water, was a major let down. Daily cleaning was prompt, but glasses, mugs and spoons weren't washed but just wiped and put back in the draw. Overall, the hotel is fine, bit pricey for what you're getting compared to other hotels I've stayed in, but it's fine.
Central localtion a relatively short walk from cbd shopping areas and water front areas. Superior king rooms fit for purpose, and clean enough for high rraffic hotels. Caucus restaurant and bar on ground floor.
Staff were lovely. View from the executive suite was great, but through very dirty windows. Amenities in room very dated. Damage to bottom of bathroom door. Who uses a bath these days? (unless a spa bath). Also bell at eye level above bath. If guests couldn't get out of bath, what use is a bell at eye level? Dinner was nice but expensive, over $40 one should get a couple of vegetables with the meat. Breakfast was lovely.
The hotel is in a great location and very convenient. Our guests were very satisfied with the hotel facilities and the bed types provided.
Lovely hotel and nice fitness area. They seem to regularly run out of oysters very soon so try get to the bar early in the day if that’s what you’re after!
Good Hotel, somehow a bit chaotic. they have an elevator right into the shopping street, Cable Car, but not eaay to find.
Dont use the parking garage, just park in front, they have valet parking only (or they fooled us)
The positives were the staff, friendly and helpful. Great housekeeping team too. A short lift ride down to Lambton Quay - so great location and good views from the rooms.
But the hotel is tired. The elevator area from the car park was horrendous. One of the lifts out of order and the lobby full of pallets and other material. The breakfast room was over crowded for the volume of guests. The rooms had interesting decor (white curtains with red splashes!). Lots of maintenance needed. Rusty metal parts in the bathroom, toilet roll holders falling off the wall. Just generally really tired. Beds extremely soft - too soft for me. The internal lift to the rooms was not secure - no key card needed to access the lift to get to hotel rooms. Wouldn't stay again sorry!
All staff are friendly and helpful. Room has wears and tears. Breakfasts buffet is good. However scallops for dinner entree is mediocre.
I had an absolutely lovely stay. The team were kind and we had fun little banter. They carefully held my bags for me in the locked cupboards both before and after my stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and very filling.
Novotel Wellington is one of our preferred hotels to stay at when in town. The central location to shops and restaurants is great. Our bed was very comfortable and the staff (especially the duty manager) was amazing. They made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean and quiet.
Always a great place to stay. Comfy beds, clean rooms. Handy location to Te Papa museum, Oriental parade, Gym is small but well equipped for a workout. Restaurant food is good Room service menu seems to have changed recently and doesn't offer enough options.
I enjoy staying here nothing is ever an issue and staff go out of their way to help.
Located on the terrace with a lift down to lampden Quay so it's super convenient
Nice bar selection and helpful staff.
Love the free fruit on the reception
The hotel is in such a great location, the staff are so friendly and welcoming! The rooms were a little bit outdated, but everything was clean and tidy. We paid for the valet parking, simply for the stress-free convenience instead of trying to deal with the public car park next door. We had such a lovely time, the staff were amazing, so next time we’re in Wellington we’ll be staying here again!
Great all round stay. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Very handy location to shopping and sightseeing.
The staff was very friendly on all departments from housekeeping to reception and restaurant.
Great buffet breakfast options.
Felt very spoilt.
Thank you.
Great location and excellent service! Very pleased as Accor member stayed in with family. Everything went smoothly and we were all happy! The Caucus restaurant was a great place to have breakfast and dinner.
2024 Christmas:
We were extremely happy with our stay at Novotel Wellington during Christmas! I ordered a cake for my wife’s birthday, and to our surprise, it was beautifully decorated and accompanied by a thoughtful set of treats from the Novotel team. What a delightful surprise and exceptional service! Our stay was nothing short of perfect, and we are deeply grateful for the warm hospitality.
We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel, including the Christmas dinner, and everything was wonderful! A heartfelt thank you to the entire Novotel Wellington team, especially for the beautiful birthday cake—it truly made our celebration memorable.
I have two small recommendations for improvement in the future:
1. We ordered packed lunches, which were great, but the sandwich was not made with whole wheat bread as requested.
2. The fried eggs at breakfast on Christmas Day could have been better—they were overcooked into one piece, with the yolks broken.
Thank you once again for making our Christmas and birthday celebration so special!
Service, rooms, location was good! Stayed here Everytime I come to Wellington and I always found a box of cookies in my room after went out shopping which really made my day! Thankyou 🥰🥰🥰
Overall very good hotel. Beds are super comfortable and place is very clean.
We stayed for 3 nights. We were given interconnected rooms as per our request. The location is very central. The in-house restaurant is great with some very good meal options.
Highly recommend.
Great friendly service. Great management.
Good location near lambton quay.
Yes building older but room was spacious and tidy.
I wanted to express my appreciation for the wonderful experience during my recent stay at your hotel. The service was truly exceptional, with a staff that was not only friendly but also incredibly helpful when I had questions.
The room exceeded my expectations – it was impeccably clean and well-presented. The unexpected upgrade was a delightful surprise that added an extra touch to my stay.
The convenience of easy car parking next door made the logistics hassle-free, and the hotel's location was perfect for my needs.
Thank you for providing such a positive and memorable experience. I look forward to staying with you again in the future.
The Hotel is centrally located which meant we could walk everywhere.
The staff were fantastic, very helpful. Especially the restaurant staff. We had two breakfasts and a meal while staying and the food was lovely - everyone raved about the steaks !
The bed was super comfortable and the shower had a good pressure.
A small criticism - one of our rooms (we had three as there were six adults) hadn't been fully serviced on our arrival and there was rubbish in the bin, dirty coffee mugs and not vacuumed. The other rooms were clean and we had change rooms due to our requirements, so probably put housekeeping on the spot. Other than that housekeeping were helpful and accommodating.
This said I will definitely stay at the Novotel again, as it was an overall great experience.
Anyone visting Wellington should book their stay at the Novotel. It's clean, comfortable and has all the necessities required for a decent, well priced hotel. It's in the heart of the city so everything is close by.
The rooms are nice and the beds really comfortable.
The breakfast is good with plenty of options.
Only downside is the location, itis difficult to get to and to go anywhere you need to find a back route and stairs to get to go find restaurants to eat out.
Great location in the centre of Wellington. Comfortable room with everything you need for a short stay. Friendly staff. Breakfast was just average.
Novotel Wellington went beyond to make my birthday weekend special. Our wee ocean view, a sweet card and towel cake on the bed, even a slice of cake in the fridge. Was delighted!
Every interaction with staff was pleasant , helpful and friendly. The location on The Terrace was no issue as the was a lift down the Lambton Quay.
Loved our short stay here and will stay again.
The Novotel wellington was a good stay excellent location, I have put stars at 9 because we did initially have an issue with internet but manager did help put this right later that night, plus the tv went black while still talking with black screen ?? Thus, we had to phone downstairs to find out why? It turned out room card in the slot too long but I’m being picky! car parking was available other than the valet kind but finding space was tricky only Niggles really, but on the whole excellent hotel, reception team very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent the housekeeping where great the in house restaurant was good, no real complaints I would stay anytime, the few niggles with internet and tv easily solved and quickly once I asked so I think the hotel team did excellent and nothing was to much trouble ! Note on the car park next door there are lots of floors below, then green light above the bay means it’s free but we did not realise the car park went down so many floors so we found it tricky at first but we would use again thank you Novotel Wellington you did very well!
We stayed here for the weekend whilst visiting for my lovely godmother's 50th wedding anniversary party. The Novotel was a welcome base. Great being able to walk straight out onto Lambton Quay. A little Countdown supermarket within a stones throw as well as everything the CBD has to offer. A quiet, clean room and the best bircher muesli ever for breakfast. Friendly staff encountered. One of whom I asked how the hotel was getting on. No big displays of flashy bravado in his honest response. A pause and then he explained things had still not recovered to pre covid time but the hotel was coping. I felt like giving him a hug. Reading all the reviews I think everyone forgets there are real people behind these seemingly big invincible industries who are working hard. We need hotels like this. They employ alot of people and are a treat for visitors like us. We'll be back and will recommend your establishment to others.
Room wasn't ready, even though I arrived after the check in time. Had a free drink while I waited. Had a bath, but the bath I could feel scum on the sides. In the bath could see under the vanity which was rusty, needed an end to the vanity. In room safe wasn't working. The food and service in the restaurant was very good.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Novotel in Wellington. First (as a Accor member) we could get an early check-in, which we did not request in advanced - but we were very pleased to find out, that our room was ready at that time. We then got offered one free drink and got some fruits. The breakfast was good and offered everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and clean.
Our highlight was, that we were given (after requesting it two nights before) a breakfast to go, as we had a very early check out to catch the ferry. Everything was ready. The front desk managers were very friendly and helped us with everything we needed.
Room was fine and came with a surprise complimentary Fruit Bowl which was much appreciated.
Location was perfect for walking access to the Winetopia Event at the TSB Arena and then my daughters Music Competition at the Victoria Uni. although I cheated by catching a bus from just outside the Hotel's Front Entrance.
Reception Staff were only "so-so", Sky Sports channels kept dropping out with a message about 'network cable missing' (or some such) so missed some key moments when trying to watch events.
3rd party parking meant you had to be on your toes wrt time limits!!
Nice hotel located at the terrace, which can access along Lambton Quay for those come with public transport by the lifts. The hotel is clean with free wifi access and lot of amenities like digital safe, hairdryer and etc. Fitness Center and restaurant located at G floor together with the reception.
All though it was just a place to lay the head, it was a great looking accommodation venue with friendly staff. room was fit for a king; my only fault was the food options was pretty average but all an all a pleasurable stay. Thanks Novotel Wellington.
Come every year in October. Finding the hotel a little dated. Still have soup spoons on breakfast table. Breakfast we mediocre. Ordered room service one night and found the food great.
Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Desk service was very good, pleasant staff.
The room was a little outdated, but it was clean and had what we needed. The shower pressure was below average and the Air con only went to 18 degrees which left me overheating. The breakfast was the best part.
Really nice hotel with great service in a nice location! I liked everything about the hotel except the dark red brush strokes on the curtains.....it's suspiciously blood-like. The breakfast was good, but not great....the selection was decent, just not so tasty. Those little gripes aside, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!
Great, comfortable beds, close to shops and waterfront, a shame that the lift to Lampton Quay is a bit rundown
We didn't stay here but on 3 occasions we had breakfast here. The buffet breakfast has alot to choose from in both cold and hot. My wife enjoyed the choices and quality of the food. We will definitely return.
My wife and I stayed at Novotel Wellington during our recent trip to NZ. It is a proper executive hotel with all the necessary amenities. The hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. There is valet parking available at the property. Since it is situated in the city centre, tourist attractions such as the cable car and port are at a walking distance. Definitely recommended!
Very comfortable, great location! Convenient parking at the hotel! Breakfast is average!
Room was very clean and well presented and located on the upper floor away from the lift as requested. The staff were extremely helpful at all times and the Front Office Manager Amit Paradkar went out of his way to assist not only with or luggage but also when I had a vehicle problem. Well done.
Great location and clean rooms but definitely an older styler Novotel!
Really happy with our stay. The team are friendly and attentive. The unit was clean and had everything we needed, with bonus of seaview. Location was fantastic.
Great family holiday, worked out great to get into the centre of town without getting cars out. Our preschoolers enjoyed the meals too.
Have to commend you on your beds and pillows / duvet etc, they are so super plush and comfy! Would love it if there were some cushions on your sofa though, had to move pillows there everytime I wanted to sit on it. Sofa not built for people of short stature! Hotel in great location for exploring Wellington, very convenient to have access to both Lambton Quay and The Terrace.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my husband who was working down here so I was on my own throughout the day till early evening. The location was perfect, I felt very safe and the staff at the hotel were super friendly and helpful especially in the bar/Restaurant. The rooms were clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy!
We would defiantly stay here again and recommend to our friends and family!
Thanks for making our stay so lovely! 🥰
Good location in the city with easy (albeit hilly) access to wherever you need to get to
Interconnected rooms worked well, breakfast was great, despite the dining room being packed every morning.
Staff were lovely, valet parking was easy.
Definitely would stay again.
Gr8 location as so central. My room had nice outlook to cbd and Harbour. Was so quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable (would love to know the brand!) Room was nice and dark. The best sleep I've had in the longest time!
Bathroom wasn't the cleanest with little black hairs stuck to the walls by toilet and in the shower and one of my pillows looked like the pillowcase hadnt been changed but thankfully there were 2 others to use. No little toiletries but thankfully I hadn't forgotten anything.
Staff were very helpful and friendly in restaurant area and front desk reception. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection of food.
Hotel needs a bit of a spruce up and carpets cleaned or replaced as I didn't want to walk on room carpet as it didn't look clean enough. Some little disposable slippers would be gr8 to leave out for guests and a bathrobe would be handy too! Maybe extra towels or heated towel rail as after shower before heading out, towel was wet for morning shower. Have a pet hate of fixed shower heads so if planning on doing any upgrades add a removable shower head as also helps cleaners with being able to wash down shower walls!
Would be gr8 if there was an option to enter hotel via Lambton Quay late at night by using room key?? We came back after a show at around 10pm ish and had to walk down the road and go up a darkish street to get back to hotel, would not like to be by myself doing that!
So just a few little things would make this a 5 star stay
Had a good stay! Friendly staff, good breakfast, an easy walk to many amenities /attractions. The lift to Lambton quay is a major plus. Basic hotel, clean.
Very clean rooms, although the common areas are a little dated. Prompt and helpful staff. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had the best sleep in quite a while. Really appreciated the delicious chocolate chip cookie waiting for me after a long day of travelling and arriving past midnight. Wifi was fast and had no problems using it for work. Great location on the Terrace, however a slight uphill walk is required if coming back from the city. Plenty of free streetside parking available overnight until 8am every morning.
Definitely in need of a refresh. Looking a little tired but the location is very handy when the back elevator is working. The staff were helpful when needed and the rooms were an okay size, but very tired.
We had 5 star service from the front desk staff and the restaurant staff.
Our dinner meals were yummy.
Our room was modern and clean.
Great location.
Will definitely be back.
Not our first stay at the Novotel as it is our city hotel of choice. The hotel is centrally located to Lambton Quay and the Terrace - with lift access to Lambton Quay, shops, restaurants, public transport etc, and very easy to find coming off the motorway.
The staff are always very pleasant and professional, the hotel is modern and the rooms spacious. We were upgraded to level 9 which had a view over the city and harbour, which we really appreciated and enjoyed.
Excellent hotel! The staff were super friendly and helpful with giving directions to places in the area. There is also valet parking. Rooms are spacious and have very comfortable beds.
The first impression and the welcome were not nice at all. So, we arrived at 1.40 pm on the 31st and went to the reception to check in. Whoever the manager was on duty on the 31st, (Kapoor if not mistaken) told us right away that the room was not yet ready and would not be able to check us in until 2.30 pm. We were surprised as he was not apologetic about it and was very rude towards us saying that the hotel is fully booked. Then we said if that's the case, we might be able to check out a bit late to be fair for both parties as we are not getting the room by 2 pm. Then he said it's fine, I can extend your check-out time.
The point of going into detail about this is that the first impression/ experience/ engagement was bad compared to the Novotel Taranaki. We were really happy with our stay in the Novotel Taranaki during our last two trips, and this was not up to that standard we were hoping and was totally disappointing. Though we will be visiting the Novotel Taranaki in the future, we will never go back to the Novotel Wellington Hotel. The room was a bit smelly and small, and overall the Hotel needed some maintenance.
However, the check-out process was nice. The lady who was on duty was really good and knew how to handle customers professionally.
Finally, I still haven't received the refund of the balance amount of $66.44 from the $100 deposit I paid. Been waiting for three weeks now.
I'm a very loyal Platinum Accor member - and always enjoy many benefits at Accor hotels for paid subscription and loyalty - but Novotel Wellington gave no room upgrade, a really poor welcome gift compared to other Novotels, just 1 drink voucher instead of 2, and no complimentary barista coffee with breakfast. I'll be booking at one of the other Accor hotels next time I'm in Wellington.
We stayed at Novotel for our wedding anniversary. Our room was beautifully decorated and they even delivered a cake with ‘Happy Anniversary’ written on it. Thank you so much for your wonderful service, we loved every moment staying here.
The stay was great, comfy beds, rooms and the restaurant food was delicious. Location is also 10/10.
I would have given a 10 but the lack of comms regarding additional costs is what lowered my score.
We arrived to check and were told we had to pay a $100 bond for damages, that would be refunded at check out. I checked out on Sunday 7th Jan 2024 and have only been refunded the bond this morning, Friday 12th Jan.
If you are able to take the money out on check in, you should be able to return it at check out as stated.
Staff were lovely and very polite and helpful, I was just disappointed I couldn't understand the young Phillipino girl on the counter when we checked in. I had a disability parking sticker and there was no parking available for us with that other than the public parking building next door and valet parking at the hotel. I opted for the valet parking understanding what the girl said was $14 a day to pay upon checking out i paid $120 for 3 nights!! There was also nothing when i booked online about the $150 bond hold that is taken. I was not expecting this when checking in. More transparency/clarity is needed in costings so they are not hidden!
Hotel room was lovely, the front desk staff friendly, but the housekeeping staff rude, I said good morning to them three times and they ignored me. I don’t think it was worth the money, the restaurant has seen better days, and the lift to lambton key is in a dire state. Won’t be going again
A little bit disappointed with the hotel, parts were quite dated.
After assurances a camp bed was in a comfortable this was used on the second night, the mattress was past its sell by date, not at all comfortable.
As of yesterday, the deposit which was placed by my sister had not been returned to her account - the bill was fully settled at time of check out. Sorry to say that not to the standards of previous Novotel I've had the pleasure to stay with.
We had a wonderful stay with Novotel Wellington and the team were really amazing and led brilliantly by Amit and the team. Great work, guys, keep up the amazing work.
Nice hotel with a good location in town, just around the corner from the cable car that leads up to Botanical Garden.
Small but well assorted breakfast buffet.
Very attentive staff offering a good service.
Good nights sleep apart from the earthquake! The thing which let this hotel down was the entrance from the Lampton Quay which we fortunately spotted a small sign to when walking from the station with luggage. The corridor to the lifts and signage are dated and a bit scruffy. The main entrance on The Terrace is open if rather off the main walking routes. The bar area was at least open if a bit corridor like unlike the James Cook Hotel bar (Shut) which we had to use to enter via the lifts from Lampton Quay. Fairly central position but not that easy to access-check your approach if arriving on foot.
We had a great stay with the kids and found everything close by, great options for breakfast which set us up for the day.
Very clean & super comfortable. Not enough complementary coffee, robe & slippers for adults booked on arrival but quickly remedied. Lovely food at restaurant for dinner. Friendly helpful staff. Very tricky working out how to get in. Was expecting a pull in area to unload car & check in but found a bus stop outside & didn't want a ticket. After working our way back again squeezed into the car park area we were obviously not supposed to be in but at least off the road. Walk up to reception & got sorted for parking.
Great location in the heart of Wellington, with direct access to Lambton Quay shopping road, through James Cook Hotel lobby lifts. I booked 2 rooms for a party of 5 adults. As an Accor's Platinum member, I received upgrade from the front desk manager, Gary Johnson, for both rooms, to executive floor with partial view of Lambton Harbour. Greta was the friendly front desk officer who checked us in. Gary, who happened to be there, decided to upgrade both rooms to the same floor next to each other. Excellent service!
We stayed here over the weekend and had a great time getting around Wellington with it being so central using the bus services.
Unfortunately we left one of our bags containing my phone, wallet, car keys and money on one of these buses.
Niel at the front desk was very helpful in trying to assist us with phoning the bus service to see how we could go about locating our bag. But then Gary the superstar from the front desk stepped in and with his help I think we would have never managed to get it back! With it being a Sunday we were told by the bus depot that even if it had been handed in we wouldn't be able to get it until the following day/s. Gary stepped up and made sure we had it back within hours. The level of help and service we received from the Novotel staff and Gary in particular was amazing. We are definitely returning here for all of our Wellington trips! 5 stars plus!
Fantastic location, with easy access to Lambton Quay, shops and eateries. Good-sized room, with blackout curtains. Bedding was comfortable. No street noise from the sea view room. Other parts of the room probably need an upgrade, although the bathroom had already been done at some stage. Staff interaction was all over the show, with some possibly needing more training on how to leave guests with a good first and last impression. Some basics were missing, e.g. "Thank you".
Check in was easy, customer service was great, friendly staff. Room was perfect, comfy beds great view. Sky TV etc.
Just needed a microwave.
I really like the central location, most of what you want to see in Wellington is at a walking distance. But the rooms were nothing great and I noticed they were not cleaned properly before being allocated to guests. Also, service at the counter could have been faster.
Clean hotel with a decent size room. Great location and very central to so many great eateries. The additional use of the synergy gym just down the road is also really beneficial for this hotel. However the gym is a bit small though. Bed itself extremely comfortable however the pillows had a little bit to be desired for however not enough criticism to make it a four star review. All in all friendly staff, nice room, good food and all around really easy
The hotel had everything I needed, my room was clean and comfortable and most importantly, the staff were lovely and helpful.
Great staff. Nice location. Helped me find my daughter's missing stuffed kiwi after we thought it lost forever. Thanks team.
Novotel wellington was the best stop during our new year trip. Everything went smoothly and perfectly, just a little hiccup at restaurant about my Accor plus membership but dealt and solved efficiently and effectively! My kids just loved this hotel!
I love the breakfast menu. My overall experience especially with 2 kids was superb. We have booked the double room. We enjoyed the stay n the view. So convenient to walk to most of the attractions n shops. I would highly recommend Novotel.
Super close to everything downtown. Great restaurants and shops nearby. Clean rooms. Take the trolley up the hill.
The Novotel Wellington in New Zealand is a fantastic hotel that I would highly recommend. I recently had the pleasure of staying there and was blown away by the quality of service and amenities provided.
One thing that really stood out to me was the consistently good food. Whether I was grabbing a quick breakfast before a busy day or enjoying a relaxing dinner at night, the food was always fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.
The rooms were spotless and the beds were incredibly comfortable, making for a great night's sleep every night. I also appreciated the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and hygiene, especially in the current climate.
I attended a conference while staying at the hotel, and while the meeting room was ideal for our needs, I did have some trouble with the conference wifi. However, I am optimistic that the hotel has taken steps to improve this since my stay.
One thing that would have made my experience even better would have been a better sound system for online meetings. But overall, the Novotel Wellington is a fantastic hotel with exceptional service, great amenities, and a prime location in the heart of Wellington. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch hotel experience.
The rooms are a little old but the cleaning service is spot on. Room service is also fast and friendly especially when ordering meals. The food was delicious and affordable, big fan of the battered beer fries and the buffet breakfast too. Location although a bit hilly in some areas, was great too. Everything was within 10 mins walking distance from the tourist attractions to the train station. We also had someone with a mobility issue and he could handle the walking distances too. When we return we will definitely go back to novotel Wellington.
Nice room, and very good restaurant.
Bit of confusion around the timing of our breakfast order put pressure on getting to our ferry on time.
I stayed at the hotel on 19 March 23. I received outstanding support from reception manager Sylvia for a difficult booking error issue through a third party agent. She was empathetic, very efficient and customer focused. Her actions alone would ensure I stay again and recommend the hotel to others.
It has been a long time since we have been so impressed with a hotel as we were with our stay at the Novotel Wellington.
We arrived early having come from Auckland and we were able to register prior to check in and leave our luggage while we headed out to explore Wellington, they could text us once the room was ready which was a great option. The staff were very welcoming and explained where we were and the local attractions near to the hotel. They also highlighted the elevator behind the restaurant which allows you to get down to Lambton Key (the hotel is on the Terrace).
We stayed for around 5 nights which allowed us to really experience the culture and service the Wellington Novotel offers. Its easy to say we were consistently impressed throughout our stay, from the regular greetings we received, to the house keeping team leaving a lovely note, or the themed headphones the kids were given randomly at breakfast. Each interaction felt genuine, and with our interests at the forefront.
To move to the room experience, we were happy with our room location and facilities. We were placed right down the end of the hall way which, when as traveling as a family was a perfect location, as it minimizes our kids disruptions on other guests. Our room had WiFi which was perfect and it is great to see hotels finally embracing WiFi as a free (and not capped) and expected feature of a room.
How else could I tag myself and the hotel in a post on FB/IG etc a a visitor to NZ without extra effort?
The bathroom was perfect and its great to actually have a bathtub included in the room. We suggest you walk down Lambton Key to "Lush" and pick up a few bath products and head back to your room for relaxation.
Each day we received the paper which was a nice touch.
The downsides of the room? Well, the TV was quite terrible in image quality and sound and far from where I expected it to be. I expect TVs to be one of the most important room features.
Our room at night was quite noisy with wind blowing away and although I didn't feel it myself I was told it actually felt like it shook (not EQs) throughout the night.
Finally, I guess the rooms are not super family friendly with it being 2 beds in the same space.Just be aware of it.
The hotel bar area is perhaps the most awkward I have experienced in terms of layout, feeling over our stay as limited in size and relaxation (seating) options. It was however, staffed by the same level of attentive and caring staff we experienced throughout our stay. The most pleasant surprise were the prices and range during 'happy hour', which short of a very disappointing experience on the last day, we found to be reasonable and very progressive for a hotel.
We had breakfast included in our stay, which proved to be a superb addition. Our kids were included and actually were able to enjoy a lot of kid friendly breakfast options. The breakfast options were standard fair for a hotel buffet but were, with the exception of one morning cooked fresh and to expectations. I think if I could level any suggestions it would be to make it easier to order variations of egg dishes and perhaps offer a rotating dish or two on the main buffet. There were a load of breads, fruits, cereals, cooked foods, cheese, drinks and gluten free options.
On to the complaints, which were minor I guess. During our stay, one elevator broke down the day we arrive, and was not usable for our entire stay. This was actually quite frustrating, and only really helped by the fact the housekeeping staff kept swiping us into the service elevator. We faced rather large waits at any point we tried to use the elevators and normally I would expect an issue such as this to be fixed much sooner but since it was over new years we gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Overall we had a wonderful stay, and will definitively be staying here again. The minor inconveniences could not out way the outstanding service and experience we have had here.
Me and my hubby had an amazing stay recently there. They were short of staff but the guy (Amit) on the Reception handled it really nicely and patiently. He was the only one on the front desk and we waited in the que for about 15 min but he was handling all the guests wisely. He was managing this busy time calmly.
Thanks for the good customer service.
My expectation was high for a name Novotel. Disappointed with the carpets, curtains are average. I checked in late and requested for a late check out of 1 hour after 3 days of stay. The request was declined immediately. That was very mean and cheap.
There are many good hotels. Dont be fooled by the name. This is average hotel.
Our stay was very good. We were 2 adults and a 5 and an 8 year old. Unfortunately Novotel didn't have any more parking spaces so we had to go down to The James Cook and use Wilson's Parking. At $48 for the one night that was a downer. Otherwise it would have been 5 STARS as breakfast was delicious as was our room.
I requested a quiet room on the higher levels and the room was quiet, comfortable bed and spacious. I find having Accor membership does allow one to make special requests like this, and find it worth our while.
This was a nice, very central hotel to stay in. The rooms were tidy and spacious, and we had 10th floor views overlooking the harbour, what more could we ask for? There were plenty of shops and restaurants around, as well as the well-known attraction the Wellington Cable Car, just a few doors down from the Lambton Quay Entrance. Late check-in and the Mac Availability was great too. The buffet was fantastic, and the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever had at a hotel, you just need to add a pinch of salt. The pastry section could be slightly improved, however, the fruit section was amazing, and the overall food quality was exceptional. The Countdown was very close also, and the staff are somewhat friendly, however, as we ate later at the buffet, they were rushing us to finish. The only negatives of the hotel really are the limited facilities. Although there are Macs available for use, there are only 2 and there is a 20 minute time limit. There is no pool, and the parking is atrocious. The price of it is inflated, and it is very limited. The TV doesn't work very well, and the WiFi makes you reconnect every time you leave the Hotel. I think overall though, this stunning location in the heart of Wellington, with access to both Lambton Quay and the Terrace, gives a recommendation to this hotel, even though the value for money only just scrapes in due to the high price.
Fourth time I've stayed here and I have loved it every time. Fantastic location, a couple of doors away from Countdown Supermarket, bus stop right outside, within walking distance of the I site, Cable Car, Parliament Buildings, Te Papa and much more.
Friendly staff, lovely sized rooms, quiet, clean and comfortable. Beds are super comfortable and rooms have a good, reliable Air Con unit.
Room service meals are fantastic, the beef burger and the fish and chips are amazing. You should definitely also try the Anzac cookie dessert, it's divine!! Vegetarian pizza is also tasty and delicious.
If you prefer you can dine downstairs at Caucus restaurant or have a drink at the bar.
I realise that you want guests to dine at the restaurant however some cutlery/plates in the rooms would be handy for those few occasions where people want to bring in their own food. Also a cheaper breakfast option for those who dont want to always do the full buffet would be good.
Only other 'negative' comment would be that some of the little 'personal' touches seem to have stopped...as an Accor member I used to receive a wee personal welcome note in my room...not a huge deal but it made us feel a bit special :)
Reasonable hotel in an ok location. Rooms were pretty clean with only minor faults, bed was comfortable. The place itself is a bit tired looking and have some strange things like getting fresh milk with a cup from the reception. Air conditioning won't go below 18c. Other than that, if you get it for a goid price, not too bad.
The hotel is nicely located just next to the cable car, few minutes walk from the waterfront and just few minutes drive from the ferries to Picton.
We had a room on the 10th floor, decent space, clean, comfortable bed, comfortable bathroom. The rooms as well as the hotel have a contemporary style typical of the Novotel chain.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was basic but decent although the coffee at was way below average.
Would we stay again? Yes
Stayed for the weekend and had a good experience in terms of the service upon arrival, query about the car park and checking out this morning. Friendly staff and cleaners also did a good job cleaning our room. No free parking but we were given good option after we asked the staff. My only concern is, the beds are a bit soft and I think they need to be replaced otherwise everything was fine.
Staff at the Novotel went above and beyond to find us a room for our family of 5 when our accommodation booked elsewhere fell through at 5.30pm on a Friday night. The manager was polite and helpful and managed to secure us a great rate, we were settled into our room half an hour after our initial phone call. They provided our young children with activity books and packs which were gratefully received. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, we couldn't have asked for more. We also opted for the breakfast option in the restaurant which was very generous portions and well run given the necessary Covid protocols in place. Location was fantastic, so central and easy to walk around Wellington even with young kids, valet carparking was also fantastic!
Clean & tidy rooms. Comfortable bed. Polite & friendly staff. Very conveniently located, walking distance to most places. Room service meals are tasty.
Rooms are a bit dated but clean and real coffee is provided. Food options were limited. Would have made a big difference to our experience if we'd been told about the elevator down to the shopping precinct at check in. Major customer service fail for me.
Great location. Nice room. 4 pax, 2 rooms. No complaints. Very pleased.
The Novotel is centrally located with Countdown and Cable Car within 50 metres of the lift to Lambton Quay - which is below a Chemist Warehouse. The hotel rooms are a bit small and starting to get a bit tired, but they're well appointed with a great TV and plenty of ways to connect. The Wi-Fi was fast and easy to connect. The food was great in the dining room and the staff were very friendly. The cost was a bit higher than I'd expect for an older hotel in need of renovation, but I suppose you're paying for the location with this hotel.
Really enjoying our stay. All the amenities at our fingertips. The bed is large and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and the shower has great pressure. Car parking right next door just a small walk excellent staff and the restaurant is delicious too
Rooms were good and clean. Beds were small, reason being there was a mattress 'topper' or similar that was slightly smaller than the mattress, hence I felt like I was going to roll right off onto the floor. The breakfast was just OK, infact well stocked but as we were up very early the food felt very dry (like it had been prepared hours earlier and kept hot. Otherwise staff were all very friendly and efficient and the room was in a good condition.
Excellent in terms of location and cleanliness. Our room had a view of the city and harbor. Walkable to most attractions. They gave us complimentary drinks every night. Only issue was rooms were a bit small. Staff was quite friendly and helpful. Maintenance is at par with accor hotels standard.
Food is consistently good. Rooms, spotless, great beds. Hope the conference wifi has improved. Meeting room ideal for our needs. Better sound system for online meetings would make it perfect.
good easy access to motor way. Customer service AAAA++++ Hotel staff friendly. Hotel we booked the room for my son 18th upon entering in room wow with balloons 🎈 and confetti 🎊 little touch goes long way. Later in the afternoon my son receives a slice of cheesecake.
Super touching it shows the value and care for guest.
Always going to be remembered. Hotel manager and staff fantastic.
Thank you all staff and management for welcoming us.
the price of the place is a tad expensive and for the star rating that it has and the branding you would expect something a little top notch. The rooms were nice and tidy and cleaned everyday which was nice. they even held our bags for us after we checked out as we had a flight in the evening. Would say that only down points were that the rooms were very small and the TV had stopped one of the nights and had to be reset. Also would recommend they upgrade their pillows as it feels like your sleeping without one and made it really hard to sleep
Simple but comfortable and practice for worker traveling. Food was good and staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay there for a short work trip. Well done team.
This hotel is located near shops. We did not see a concierge desk or anyone to help us with our luggages. Good thing our friend pointed us to the side entrance where we can wheel our luggages as opposed to lifting them thru the steps by the main entrance. Service was friendly. I loved the bed and the pillows. The buffet breakfast was good.
OK I was book this hotel on 27th June for 3 nights. But I have book the day was wrong. I put the month in July instead June. When we arrive in the hotel. The reception can't found our booking. After feel min the reception say I book the month is wrong. But we already here. And the hotel only had room just for that night 27th. Other 2 nights they was full book. That reception girl her name ko. She is wonderful girl. She help me to book other hotels without cancellation fees. She has been try very hard talking to my booking center to refund my money. This girl name ko she makes me feel so so happy I face her to do all those talking on the phone with my booking center for two hours.
Miss ko. If one day I come back to Wellington. I will love to stay in novotel hotel. Hope can meet you again .❤❤❤❤💯💯💯
Staff are always friendly and very accommodating. They made my 6 yo birthday extra special as they prepare the room with balloons, banner, card and a plate of treats.
The rooms were very nice and the adjoining room for our disabled mother was excellent and something a lot of the other hotels didn't have. What made our stay was the amazing staff, they were so friendly and helpful and the service we received was outstanding. Our mum had left behind her wedding and sapphire rings, these were found and being returned, well done Novatel and thank you.
Regards
Oliver family.
Rooms were a bit tired and air con not great if hot day. Service was good, caucus restaurant waitresses were awesome. Very friendly. Location ok walking distance to most things in cbd.
Very impressed with my stay here. The room was wonderful, and the service was excellent. The eating options in the building were ok, but I’d probably look elsewhere for breakfast next time. Plenty of better options than buffet in walking distance.
Speaking of walking distance... the place is a little weird to get to by foot. Walking through the building next door and up/down seemingly random elevators.
The Novotel is located in the heart of Wellington, making it insanely convenient to get to the Terrace or to Lambton Quay's shopping area. The room itself was clean, spacious and well-lit (an issue in a lot of hotel rooms I've been to). The view from my room on the 8th floor was pleasant - the houses on the hill but obstructed by a few tall buildings. Excellent service, both from front-of-house and cleaning staff. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. That said, I took off a star because I think the decor is outdated compared to newer hotels.
Good hotel in city centre, nice clean rooms and good bathroom. Room rate is very reasonable for quality of hotel. Staff were very helpful and even let us park our van in the drop off zone. Wifi is not free which is unacceptable in 2018, when even most motels provide free wifi. Deal breaker for me, won't be returning unless wifi is free. There was graffiti under the sink as well. Attached is an example of one of the graffitis.
The location is great, the staff were friendly, and my room was very comfortable. I especially liked the bed, super comfortable.
We had a mini break here over the weekend and it was perfect. The room was a good size and had everything we needed. The bathroom even had a bath which is unusual in hotels.
As an Accor member I'm always really well looked after and it was lovely to have a small welcome gift and personalised greeting card waiting for us. The membership is also great for half price dining in the hotel restaurant. The food was superb and the service impeccable.
There's a convenient lift by the restaurant that takes you down to Lambton Quay and is open 7:15am to 10:30pm. Just a short walk down Lambton Quay is a supermarket. close by is the Cable car entrance, it's a must to take the trip up to the top to see the view of Wellington. It's spectacular.
I'd definitely stay at this hotel again
Tight squeeze, carpet absolutely caked with junk as well as chairs. Positives are shower was pretty clean, and TV channels, service in restaurant very good.
Great location right in the cbd, price competitive for the area, room was spotless with great amenities. Room service meals were generous (too generous!), fresh and good quality. Desk service was friendly and quick and an offer to store luggage or any help with travel etc was nice.
Wonderful front office staffs. Mr. Sidhanth and Mr. Amit was really kind enough in helping us to move around at Wellington.
The hotel is well located and have all what you need for have a good stay , the parking can be a bit tricky but the place offer a discount to use the park facility next door, which is very convenient. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was a bit uncomfortable but apart of this fussy detail everything was great.
One of the best hotels to stay in Wellington. Service is good, rooms are modern and clean.
Very convenient and easy location. Centralized safe.clean. nice food.
Make sure to reserve the carpark.
Quite a nice hotel. Easy to find from the highway. Located in the shopping precinct, room is good sized, the restaurant is really nice, great food, and the staff here have a great eye for detail as I found out, . . Only thing is the harbour view rooms if they are a twin don't have a separate shower, but the bath is low enough, unless you really have problems lifting your leg. Opt for king room or one facing the St.
We had a pleasant stay - the staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel is well located.
Love staying here. Great price & location. My go too.
Clean, comfortable, and convenient. Love the easy access to downtown from the rear elevators. Would definitely recommend booking for a weekend as you can leave the car overnight on the street and have until 10am the next morning to move it before you have to pay.
Great place to stay with a great bunch of staff and Good food and variety. Perfect location and easy to park.
Stay was excellent. Clean room and great location. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Excellent customer service, rooms very clean and bed soooo comfortable, only issue was no windows and got really stuffy and air con didn't want to go below 18 degrees. Ordered room service to surprise my daughter on her 21st for her birthday breakfast and the food was exceptional!!
We stayed here on Wellington Anniversary weekend for 3 days and 2 nights and we loved how close it was to CBD with its lift access to Lambton Quay. We also loved how helpful the staff were, particularly Deborah who sorted things for us when we arrived hours ahead of the check-in time. Will definitely come back for our next Wellington trip!
Great stay, spacious room, amazing front office team. Only problem we encountered was no late night room service menu after 10pm.
Great Hotel, with lift access to Lambton Quay. They also have installed safes in the rooms so you can store your valuables. Very good location, only a walk away from stores and tourist attractions. There is also a restaurant, bar and computers available for use downstairs as well as underground parking (although this is at an additional cost). Lastly, the staff are very friendly and always carry a smile on their faces.
I've stayed at the Novotel Wellington previously over quite a few years. Although the hotel is a little dated, it's in a great location and the staff I have encountered were wonderful.
The room was very nice with a good view of Wellington harbor. The staffs were friendly and they kindly let us check in earlier, which was appreciated.Good value for the money, highly recommended
Great budget hotel that's centrally located. Kids stay free. There's an elevator that takes you directly to Lambton Quay. Bathroom is small and the door to the bathroom opens toward the toilet, making using it a bit of a pain. Room itself is spacious enough and beds are comfortable. WiFi and breakfast are not free but are available for an additional fee.
Good hotel. Dated technology
Parking is very challenging in Wellington. But very strategic in terms of location accessibility to stores and shops.
Front desk staff not too engaged with us. Almost bad experience. Hate to compare but Novotel Queenstown is way better as we had the best experience there at QT.
From the minute we entered the doors there were welcoming smiles hellos how was yr journey. Fabulous greeting .Lifted our spirits up straight away...as we had just got of one of those horrific flights into Wellington Airport.
We were there for 3 day 2 nights and the service the smiles the helpfulness was outstanding..The only reason i couldn't give t stars is the house keeping side wasn't up there ..Dust on glass shelves..definitely hadn't been cleaned in a while..used products in bathroom ..bathroom didnt shine clean feeling..sink not good .. The room just didn't have that clean crisp feeling ..
But i would definitely stay there again..👍😊
We were rarely in our room as we were off to Te Papa and The Wellington Zoo over the few days we stayed. Perfect accommodation. Great Asian Cuisine especially The Teriyaki Salmon from the in-house restaurant. Professional room service. Great to come back to a clean room top notch cleaning from Novotel House Cleaning. My wife and I left small gratuities for the staff as a thank you for a great experience. Next time we’re in Wellington Novotel is where we will stay. Walking distance especially the access entrance to Lambton Quay. Thank you Novotel
Nice city centre hotel. The location's great for city centre bars, cafes and restaurants. All the shops are close by as you're right in the heart of the city. The rooms are good, there's a decent bar and restaurant area. The staff where welcoming and friendly. And there's a car park right next door. A good base for a city break.
The food is awesome! Always cooked to perfection and presented beautifully on the plate. The staff are very friendly also and always have a smile on their face.
The room we stayed had the "city view" which means we get to see city buildings, so watch out if you are expecting a view of the bay. Front desk, dining and room services are reasonably prompt and pleasant, but we had to wait the longest (20 minutes) for the porter to pick up our large baggage. The included breakfast is satisfactory as the selection is well-maintained and presented. Being on The Terrace side of the CBD helps avoid the traffic on Lambton Quay but this also means having to take the lifts at the corner of the restaurant to get to the Lambton Quay. The doors on the lower side close at 10:30PM and you would have to use the alternate lift 50m to the left and coming out of James Cook Hotel. The worst point in my experience is that my bed had fleas. The Novotel is decent and small so it's not exactly luxury if you are looking for that.
When I book a hotel, the first thing that I look is the room photos. The photos on their website seems like staged and only shot at their best looking room. I would've assumed since they are old photos, the room's current condition wouldn't be the same. But not this hotel! It is as seen in its website! Luxurious, spacious, neat, clean, and reasonably priced! This is what I call 'Brand Image'. Novotel is worthy of their name. The service was also excellent! The greatest thing is they have their own elevator access to the main street! Totally recommended and will stay there again.
Was a nice stay. What put it down was after our 40 minute wait after ordering breakfast it was still going to be another 15. We had to cancel our order. The reason this was such an issue is because others who entered and ordered after us were happily eating there's.
This is my preferred hotel for staying in Wellington. Since my first visit the staff have always been helpful and accommodating. The many changes frequently enough to keep me curious. The rooms are spacious, and make me feel comfortable even if it’s a long day or evening of working.
After a mediocre stay at another hotel down the road, I checked into Novotel. Excellent service, comfortable bed, compact but manageable room, tidy bathroom and nice view.
Potentially could upgrade shower/TV, but other than that, good stay.
Good location. Good facilities. Great service. But I was disappointed with the surcharge of 2% on top of my credit charge of 3.85%. To her credit reception removed the hotel surcharge. But i was still appalled with the credit charge as we had a Travelex card and we thought the additional charges would be minimal or zero.
It's a bit basic and could do with a freshening up. The central location is a big plus. The staff are a real credit to Novotel Wellington. The two reception staff we encountered on our stay were friendly and very helpful as were the staff in the dining area.
It's a great hotel in a great location the city. Furnished stylishly and modern. The only downside is you have to time when you shower, otherwise there is no hot water. Surely a hotel of their size can cater for all guests showering between 7-8am
Nice clean rooms and warm welcome. Breakfast had huge choice
The welcoming manager went out of his way to make our stay Enjoyable. Would not consider this hotel 4.5 stars but it was clean and well presented. Location would suit a business trip.
Amazing staff, food is simple but well executed. Rooms are a little dated but immaculately presented. Elevator to Lampton Quay makes the location ideal for CBD access.
My husband I had T bone and Chicken Roulade each as well as two entrees to share. Beautiful food (steak was comparable to Jardin Grill) but servers should be mindful not to interrupt when the diners are having a conversation or at least have eye contacts before interrupting. Nothing serious but I thought this should better their service.
Clean room with 2 beds, desk, bath. Decent facilities. Plenty of tv channels incl sky. Was quiet overnight and views of the city.
The room was great and we love the location. But the restaurant is our favourite. Amazing food for dinner - we were so impressed. Beautiful salmon and tender eye fillet steak.
Clean and tidy but very dated in desperate need of a lift and foyer refurb. Restaurant was good but limited menu with only ok service but not at a standard the novatel name suggests (not a patch on Christchurch novatel). Ibis is much nicer.
Great place and really good location. Rooms are nice and great customer service.
Very nice place. Rather useful to have a lift from the main street up to the hotel, or it would be a steep climb as the hotel is on top of a big hill. Lift operated by room key, so security also very good.
Absolutely fantastic hot breakfast. Clean and modern rooms with beds that feel like clouds! We thoroughly enjoyed the customer service, accommodation and close proximity to attractions.
Rooms comfortable and beds comfortable central to city centre and most concert venues
We highly appreciate your excellent service and team support. Please thanks personally to one of your Duty Manager Karan who help us to organize parking t your hotel rather than hunting out somewhere.
We like to stay and have the breakfast at the Novotel once in a while when we decide to stay the night in Wellington when we decide to stay for the weekend
Convenient location, can take elevators from Lanton Quay to get close to Novotel. For exercise, they provide running /walking maps, yoga videos for exercising in your room or use the gym. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. There is a bar /restaurant in the hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Nice location. Easy access to the main city through the elevator. Comfortable and spacious rooms.
Beds are way too soft. Room size is ok. Sleep walkers dinner menu lacking creativity ended up getting Uber eats.
Very nice rooms and great breakfasts too! Wish the Internet lasted longer though and allowed more data. Service is reasonable also. Probably one of the best stays in Wellington
Decent. Restaurant and reception decor are nothing flash but decent rooms and rooms seem to have good sound insulation as was not disturbed by other guests.
Had a wonderful experience here, we were very well looked after by staff and enjoyed the yummy food created here, will definitely stay here again if I'm back in Wellington again, the only thing is these motels dont have any cooking facilities or micriwave
When we arrived at reception their were 2 long lines..pushed right back to th main entrance doors.. The two male receptionist were very nice, but the service was very slow, as one of the receptionist had to go out & valet Park the cars.. We had to pay $100 bond plus $35 per night for valet parking..Elevators are slow & theirs always a queue..The beds are comfortable..The room was nice & modern..my children didn't like the curtains as the design looked like a blood scene..Ordered room service, their plates need a serious upgrade(brown & mismatched)..& my steak meal wasnt that great..(also had to do our washing at the Ibis Hotel)
Room was clean, bed was comfortable, service was good. A bit noisy though.
In my personal experience I really enjoyed this place, the attention was great since the beginning, the people in the reception area was so nice, so helpful, the hotel was clean, the food was good, I recommend this hotel.
Flight was canceled and the prompt service from the hotel staff was great.
Fair for the price but no parking on site and facilities are a bit dated. Most of the hotel staff are friendly. Limited options for breakfast and service was average.
Good hotel mostly but some plugs in room weren't working. Was pretty clean though
2nd time staying here...its central very clean...spotless even the staff are so genuine and warm....and its not forced.....the beds are super comfy the shower good and hot..cant fault it....AAAAAA+++++
Good Novotel. With a lift to Lamb ton Quay. Big tour parties tend to dominate the restaurant..... so dine late! Good rooms.
Nice decent size room for 4 of us with 2 double beds. Shame the breakfast is a bit expensive at 25 NZD/person.
Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, however very overpriced and definitely not worth the $270 we paid for one night
Just needs a pool! Great to have lift access to Lambton Quay. Fantastic service. Clean rooms. Will be back.
Good location and service was good. Very kid friendly
The building was old but the room was renovated. Had a bit of view as well. Breakfast was appreciated.
Great place to stay, central to everything we needed and the staff a super friendly. Would definitely stay again
Beautiful and comfortable room, contemporary and clean bathroom. Unfortunately not a nice view when located at the back.
Great location, refurbed rooms and friendly staff. Always my stay in Wellington.
Had a great stay here. Staff very welcoming and friendly.
Nice comfortable hotel that is centrally located in Wellington with friendly staff.
Lovely Central hotel and quiet, clean, and we'll equipped
Beds needed replacing and I didn't like the pillows.
The staff was attentive and very kind in their explanations for parking, nearby restaurants, museums, etc. The breakfast is excellent and plentiful. The beds were very comfortable.
1. The price of the buffet breakfast is not displayed. When checking out, you need to tell the front desk that you are a silver card member to get a discount. This seems to be invisible in their system? There is only one babychair in the restaurant and there is no safety belt. The food tastes good, but there are not many choices.
2. The hotel has an elevator going to the main street. It is inconvenient that it cannot be used during public holidays. However, I saw that the hotel staff could use the card by swiping the card. However, I was later told by other waiters that it could not be used. I could only go to the hotel next door and use the one next door. It was very difficult. inconvenient.
3. There is no small manual such as menu/introduction/tips in the room. For example, we found the elevator to the main street by ourselves. We walked a long way downhill to get around it on the first day. The hotel only has a QR code. Scan it. See menu price point in room service. There is no introduction to the hotel surroundings/Wellington city.
4. We received two bottles of still water, one of which had been opened. We stayed for three nights, and no water was provided except the second day when I told the waiter that one bottle had been opened and she provided us with three more bottles. You need to go to the supermarket to buy water by yourself. But I am very grateful to the waiter for providing us with three bottles of water.
5. The sound insulation of the room is not good, and it is easy to wake up when sleeping with a baby. During the day, there is a lady knocking on the door of each room to change and check the "minibar". She will knock on the door very quickly, say "minibar", close the door. Close the door on the entire floor. The sound is very loud and can be heard clearly.
6. The temperature of the bathing water in the bathroom is very unpredictable. Sometimes it has been adjusted to the coldest temperature, but the temperature is extremely high. You can only turn it off and on again or wait for a long time. Sometimes the temperature has been adjusted to a very comfortable temperature, but it suddenly becomes very hot within two minutes of washing. Sometimes there is no hot water. It is quite a test of one's attitude.
It is located in the city center and the rooms are clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and easily accessible. Although it is small, it also has a parking lot.
Stayed with two families of friends. Both families have children. The sound insulation of the room is very good👍🏻The location is very good. It’s not expensive to take Ubre to anywhere! Next to it is the cable car station to the top of the mountain👍🏻
It is far away from the downtown area in the middle of the mountain! Fortunately, the hotel has an elevator that goes straight down to the city! It’s quite convenient and of high quality!
The breakfast buffet of the star-rated hotel in the city where you stay is very average, so don’t expect too much!
The room is pleasant, bright and spacious. But the sea view is not very clear. The hotel is not really central, although the city is not big. The breakfast room, actually very good, too fair. A tiny bar.||During our stay, all the elevators were under maintenance, which made our departure difficult. Suitcases for a month and 9 floors. Fortunately we were helped by a charming young man, while the human resources manager was completely overwhelmed and very unpleasant...
The hotel is very well located: right in the center and not far from the terminals of the two ferry lines. We had a superior room with king size bed and harbor view. Very comfortable bed and large and pleasant room. We would like to highlight the great friendliness of the hotel staff and in particular the courtesy of the manager who personally took care of our vehicle upon our arrival and departure.
We spent three nights as a family at this establishment. The welcome was quick and efficient. The room is clean and the bedding is comfortable although a little small if you sleep two adults in the same bed. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. Possibility of parking your vehicle in the car park located right next to the hotel for $20/day. The hotel is close to the center and several restaurants. A hotel to recommend!
We were greeted very friendly, almost warmly. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
We stayed in very clean rooms.
The Novotel in Wellington is very centrally located and is definitely recommended.
An ordinary chain hotel, nothing outstanding, worthy of average, no complaints, no complaints. A bland dish that can be eaten when hungry. No emotions. The main thing is that the room is quiet, the air conditioning is working, the bed is clean and the mattress is comfortable. The old bathroom with old plumbing was upsetting. The location is central, we walked everywhere. For the money we paid (8000 rubles) we consider it a quite tolerable option. To the Airport by taxi in 30 minutes and 30 dollars. The ferry terminal and railway station are within walking distance, but if you have luggage, then a taxi is better. We didn't take breakfast, we left for the airport around 5 am.
Like all hotels in the Novotel chain, the Wellington Novotel is fresh and well-kept: friendly welcome, spacious rooms, bathrooms and furnishings in good condition. We had 2 rooms on the 8th floor (813/815) at the front with a view of the residential area around the botanical garden. At night it is absolutely quiet despite the large streets.|Parking costs 20 NZD per day, wifi is free and fast. |The location is very central with all the sights within walking distance.|The only drawback is the unfortunately completely inattentive breakfast service: no possibility of five people sitting together, no help getting an extra chair or additional place setting. Breakfast is otherwise okay - but other Novotels have a much better selection (e.g. Queenstown and Christchurch) | All in all, a really nice, centrally located hotel for families on a tour.
Very well located. Clean, modern, with Wifi in common areas. Comfortable room. The bed was probably the most comfortable of all the hotels in NZ. Good customer service. They offered us a free drink as it was our Honeymoon. Possibility of parking (paid). Good breakfast.
If you're passing through the city, it's worth it! The rooms are large and have a good bathroom. The technological equipment is adequate, but there are not many channel options on the television. The room is not very clean! There was a pizza box under the bed! The breakfast is good and the restaurant service is great! The location is good, the city is small... anywhere is close.
The hotel is located in the center of Wellington; In fact, an elevator connects it directly to Lambton Quay street, one of the main commercial arteries of the city. The room was very comfortable and clean, with a complimentary coffee maker and newspaper, in my case with an ocean view. It has free Wi-Fi for AccorHotels members, who can join at the time of check-in to enjoy this service; Otherwise, the service is at a daily cost for use in the room, although computers are also available in the lobby.||The breakfast was quite complete. The hotel offers good room service, with a different menu than its restaurant. Both should rotate or diversify. ||The entrance to the building is somewhat uncomfortable because there are several steps that make it difficult to carry luggage. On the other hand, the hallways on the room floors would merit renovation and redecoration.||The staff is generally attentive.
Well located, especially when we discovered that there is an elevator that accesses the upper and lower streets, without having to climb the hill where the hotel is located.|Good rooms. |Accor standard breakfast, with gluten-free bread. |Quiet and close to the most charming shopping street and main tourist attractions in the city, which is very small and there is little to do. |Comfortable bed
Stayed here for a whole week and the bed was huge and comfortable. The bathroom is not big, but it is not oppressive either. There seems to be a difference in the level of dedication of those who clean the house every day. It is obvious that they feel very good one day, pass the next day, and then alternate, but overall it is OK. Most of the services were good. The only thing that dissatisfied me was that when we ate in the restaurant downstairs every day, a waiter thought twice that we didn't sign the bill and chased us out the door to ask us to sign. This was very annoying. We clearly passed through another The waiter signed the contract, but he suspected us without even checking, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The so-called sea view room, it feels like you can only see a small strip of sea through the rows of buildings, so it doesn't matter whether it has a sea view or not.
The location of the hotel is very special, with vehicle access on one side and a lift on the other side leading directly to the lively shopping street Lambton Street. The restaurants recommended to us were also just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, on the beautiful Queens Wharf on Wellington Harbour. The rooms were well furnished, clean and the beds were of very good quality. The breakfast buffet, which left nothing to be desired, should also be mentioned positively. We met pleasant, friendly and helpful staff, we would especially like to mention Mr. Kunal Bhasin from the reception.
We stayed in Wellington for one night and were absolutely happy with the hotel: friendly service at reception, modern, spacious room and bathroom, free Wi-Fi, large breakfast buffet. |Due to the difficult parking situation on site, there is a valet service. Not exactly cheap at $30 per night, but very convenient.
Novotel Wellington ||Very nice, large room with top amenities and a view of the harbor||Friendly welcome ||Dinner in the restaurant was very good, staff very friendly. ||Breakfast very expensive and of mediocre quality. Staff inattentive. ||Scrambled eggs cold and out of the package, bacon burnt and just as cold ||Coffee machine broken, coffee was brought without notice and only after asking. ||Parking in Wellington is very expensive and is offered as a service by the hotel. ||There was free WiFi for us
The hotel is located in the heart of Wellington, with paid parking (+ NZ$25 per night). It is worth it because from there, you can visit the entire city on foot or by public transportation. If you are a runner, you are one block from the dock area where everyone runs. If you go shopping, you can stop by the hotel to avoid being burdened. ||The hotel bar and restaurant are very lively. ||My room was inside a large patio, very quiet with all the equipment. There are good weekend offers.||A magnificent address in the country's capital.
Contrary to what is stated here on TripAdvisor, the hotel does not have free WiFi. You can add WiFi for NZ$23 per day. This was a novelty on our NZ tour. Even the smallest lodges offer free WiFi. It's a shame, because otherwise the hotel is actually very well located and also impresses in terms of service and facilities.
Standard room check-in, clean. In terms of star rating, it may not be 4 stars. The waiters at the front desk are patient. When we wanted to book a taxi to the pier for the next day, they patiently asked us how many people and luggage we had, and finally suggested that we rent a big car, and all the luggage of all 9 people could be packed in the car. ||Secondly, I deeply feel the advantages of being an Accor member. Free wifi etc. provided. good.
Very good hotel, very well located in the center of Wellington. Welcoming and helpful staff, spacious and quiet room. The hotel parking is underground and a bit expensive. On the other hand, the restaurant is not suitable despite a copious and pleasant breakfast.
Our room was very pleasant, well appointed. On the other hand, the reception and the restaurant seemed "cold". In my opinion, they would benefit from being renovated to give a more "cozy" atmosphere. Attentive and friendly staff.
Overall the hotel was very clean and the room was fine. The location is great! You can get pretty much anywhere quickly on foot.||Unfortunately, parking is a bit annoying. We still had a rental car and the public parking garage next door is extremely narrow. But once you find a place and stand in it, then it doesn't matter. Unfortunately, WiFi is subject to a charge.
We stayed in this beautiful city hotel for three nights. The hotel is well maintained and in very good condition. We had a nice room on the 10th floor. Very friendly staff at reception.|The breakfast buffet is varied and very good. We felt very comfortable.
