S.This was by far the best hostel experience I've had. The facilities are wonderful - fully equipped kitchen, large hang out areas, a cinema (!), clean bathrooms and lovely decor everywhere. But what really makes this place stand out is the people. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. In the evenings, if you want to socialize you can get roped into a game of cards or watch a movie, or just hang out in the living room with everyone. If you prefer to have your alone time, there's plenty of space for that too. Above all, the glue that keeps it all together - Flo. What an amazing and lovely host she was. From the first point of contact when I called from Wanaka, to the final goodbye as she waited with us for our airport shuttle. Flo is on top of the details, and provides a warmth and happy vibe that makes your stay even more special. Thank you!
T.Excellent from all sides of view. Located very close to center (short walk to parlament). The room and the whole building is very spacious, kept tidy and clean, beautifully decorated. They serve breakfast with basic stuff: bread, spreads, coffee, milk, puffs, some fruits. Nothing fancy but it good to have a bite before heading off. There is a tennis court just in front of the building and all guests can borough the rocket and balls and have a play! Very lovely stuff.

J.I made a large group booking for some university students to attend a conference and the Dwellington was the perfect place for them to stay. The facilities are amazing and it was great for them all to have space to be able to hang out together. The staff there are also amazingly hospitable and really made special things possible there. Would highly recommend.

The shared spaces are thoughtfully curated with an amazingly stocked kitchen. The manager was super helpful and goes above & beyond to ensure everyone feels at home. The rooms and bathrooms are clean & comfy. There's even a mini cinema with super comfy seats.

A.One of the finest hostels I have ever stayed in!
The free Omelettes on Sunday were incredibly popular and the chef knew what he was doing. He also left this amazing cake in the kitchen for free one day, little things like that make your stay just a bit more special.
The Dwellington basically has everything you could want - cinema room, big lounge area with the comfiest sofas ever, huge dining space, kitchen that has full blocks of SMEG knives and spice containers, an outdoor area with hammocks and bean bags... you can also use the tennis court that is right next to the hostel!
Our room was very bright and beautiful, maybe a bit small for four people but we didn’t mind! The main shower/toilet is beautiful with lovely big mirrors, hand towels that get washed and folded all the time and very clean all day long. You also have smaller toilets in the hallways that are convenient if your room is located further away from the main bathroom.
Loved that you could get free breakfast every day and the staff was very friendly as well.

D.Such a cute little place with some cool facilities you can access like the Cinema and the tennis court. They got a full-on kitchen, and a living room where you can borrow boardgames, books and guitar. They provide a complementary simple brekkie till 10am (literally cuts off at 10am).
The rooms and shared bathroom were kept clean and fresh !! Wifi was strong, not like some cheap hostels. Definitely friendly for families or backpackers who’s looking for a decent long stay.

N.The best Hostel I ever stayed at. Clean and tasteful interior. Bathrooms altough shared, are very clean. The kitchen is first class. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and this will be my go to accommodation when coming to Wellington. Bonus is, the breakfast included, although it was simple choices, I enjoyed it.
L.Such a lovely hostel! So comfortable, clean and well-appointed with great facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Decent free brekky too! A little further out from where we spent most of our time in the centre, but still a good location. Seemed maybe a little cliquey with some longer-term residents, but might have got to know people better had we stayed longer than a few nights. Not a reflection on the hostel regardless - the shared spaces are great for socialising and chatting.
K.Really enjoyed my stay with all the extra amenities. Towel included, breakfast included, toiletries and hair styling tools to use in the shared toilets, even a custom built theatre room! Clean rooms/facilities and you even get 2 pillows for use. Definitely the nicest flash-packers hostel I’ve ever stayed at and really appreciated the free lift to the ferry terminal too. Would recommend and would stay again!
T.We had a camper and The Dwellington were able to let us park outside and use the facilities inside, super accommodating, friendly staff and the best hostel I have been to! The free breakfast was awesome, there was a chef cooking up omelettes for each individual along with free fruit, cereals, teas, coffees and toast with spreads! The movie theatre was comfortable and had every streaming site. Bathrooms were always clean. Overall amazing place to stay while in Wellington!!

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I loved every second.
The location is close to amenities and public transport which is perfect for exploring.
The shared areas are easily accessible, cleaned daily and well maintained.
The team at the Dwellington are friendly and always there to lend a helping hand.
And the other occupants are always kind and interesting to get to know (especially Lunar the cat)
Loved our stay here at the Dwellington, I recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Wellington.

The guy at the reception was very welcoming as soon as I arrived and he gave me tips of what I should visit during my stay.
The cleaning in the hostel was impeccable and the room was very spacious and clean with the possibility to lock your stuff.
The common areas were also very comfortable giving you the opportunity to both meet new people from around the world or take that 1 hour of relax!
The free breakfast was the cherry on the cake of a perfect stay. Congrats to the team!
K.Incredible hostel that will ruin all other hostels for you. As soon as we pulled up Noah ran out to greet us with a smile and directed us where to park (free parking in front of hostel). He was full of wonderful recommendations and really knows Wellington. He is always running around cleaning and making sure the hostel stays spotless. Wonderful vibes, super clean, extra cozy with bean bags, a reading nook near the kitchen and a movie theater. Kitchen is fully stocked with anything a chef might need. Plenty of food storage and everyone is respectful of each other’s things. It was so hard to leave, we made heaps of new friends and I will absolutely recommend this hostel to every single person I know!
R.Probably the best hostel facilities wise I’ve stayed at in New Zealand - tennis courts, sauna, cinema room with every streaming service you can imagine, free tea, coffee and hot chocolate, free breakfast everyday plus freshly cooked omelettes made by a chef on Sundays, large kitchen with actually good quality utensils, sharp knives, etc, multiple indoor and outdoor spaces to hang out in, basket of fresh towels in bathrooms free to use plus bath towels also provided from reception, free, fast and reliable wifi - you almost forget you’re in a hostel!
Location is also excellent, less than 10 minutes drive from the ferry, a few minutes walk from New World and a few cafes, and only a short walk into Wellington CBD. Very friendly and helpful girl on reception.
Parking can be a problem depending on when you arrive - there is very limited parking spaces in front of the hostel and the on-street parking and nearby public car park are very busy during the day and cost $12 to park for the day, but they are pretty much empty from evenings till next morning and at weekends. We managed to get a space on the street right in front of the hostel so wasn’t really a problem for us.
The only negative is that our room overlooked the tennis court so it was quite noisy with people playing from early in the morning till late in the evening, and they also had some sort of party or function in the tennis club building one night with loud music/singing/shouting which kept us awake till midnight. If we were to stay again we would probably request a room on the other side of the building.
J.Definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in! Noah (one of the hosts) was amazing at greeting us and giving excellent tips for our short stay in Wellington. The facilities were excellent, lots of social space, a clean kitchen and room to chill. Our rooms were clean and came with towel. The bathrooms were clean, had excellent amenities (hair dryer, hair straighteners hair curler, towels, Q tips!). There's access to tennis court, squash and sauna). Location wise, just at the edge of CBD keeping the environment quiet. Hope to come back!
R.One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Well located 10-15 minues walk to the waterfront and the centre of town. Clean rooms and throughout, a super friendly team, good beds, fantastic showers. Large kitchen with all the equipement you could want and a lot of the basics like spices too.
Free coffee eggs toast and cereal in the mornings and waffles at the weekend! Would happily reccomend to anyone .
T.Legit the best hostel in Wellington. Theres plugs by each bed, they supply towels. Its lovely and clean, the staff are wonderful. Breakfast was great and today they made us omelettes for breakfast. 110% would recommend to everyone.

P.Definitely one of the best hostel in Wellington! No wonder they’ve got high reviews. It’s your home away from home. Location was great as it is definitely quiet. There’s a New World less than five minutes of walk from the hostel and a pub down the street for drinks and socializing. Parking right in front could be limited but I didn’t had any problems and there’s the streets for parking too. Staff were incredible, kudos to Alex for the great service. Met lots of people. It was an absolutely pleasant stay. I would definitely come back if I’m in Wellington again!

J.Impressed by the coziness, comfortablity, cleanliness, and staff who is happy to serve guests. Perfect location. Bathroom and toilets makes me feel comfortable like never before. Floors are always kept clean. Kitchen facilities are great and organized. Fridge is organzied. The daily breakfast omelette and staff morning greetings made me feel happy. I felt super comfy that I laid on the couch like a snail, then fell asleep. Guests who stayed up late turned on the music a bit too loud at night on a Saturday in the living room. If there is a microwave, it would be great for quick meal for those who don't cook. I recommend Dwellington to anyone who is visiting Wellington. Definitely, here is my first selection for my next visit. This place is really comfortable that makes me did not want to leave. Thank you for the amazingly great hospitality and service.
J.Such a nice hostel for a fair price! Guys at the reception are really kind and helpfull. Rooms are clean and pretty and beds are comfortable. But the best part for me was the breakfast. Free range eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and all types of milk.

J.My family of 4 stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. The location was perfect especially if you have business on different embassies nearby. The restrooms are shared but we never felt that it was lacking. Although the parking spaces are not enough, Noah, the receptionist, makes sure that you can have your car parked nearby and gives you security that you won't get a ticket. He is one of the friendliest receptionist we've experienced and we felt at home during our stay.

E.The Dwellington is an amazing hostel! The building is lovely and very traditional old house that is very typical of Wellington. The kitchen is huge, and there is plenty of seating in the dining room, with a large lounge. There is also a cinema room that has access to Netflix, YouTube etc. Each guest can have their own box in the fridge and their own drawer for good storage (first in first served basis, though there are no problems with having pantry food stored in rooms). I stayed in the female dorm, and I had no complaints. It's super easy to walk to town, despite what a couple other reviews say. There is a bus stop very close by that can take you to and from the hostel. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and were more than happy to let me sit behind the counter in the office with Luna the cat! All in all, amazing place, and I had a great time!
T.Such an awesome place. Best hostel ever. Immaculate and beautifully decorated with a retro, Wellingtonian vibe. They even had a cinema with cushy chairs. The host was incredible and looked after us well and tended to our every need. A beautiful and plentiful breakfast is provided free of charge. I'll definitely be back.

S.Excellent experience and great vibe! Super friendly and accommodating. Me and my husband got an early flight and we’re exhausted and they made sure to get our room cleaned quick so we could nap. Awesome amenities and common areas, everything you need! They even had someone come cook eggs for breakfast one morning and they were delicious! Cutest rooms which was fun as we were on our honeymoon but on a budget. Staff was incredibly helpful and we would absolutely love to stay there again!!
E.Absolutely LOVED this hostel! We arrived after a really stressful journey travelling from the UK to Wellington NZ. We instantly felt welcomed by the front desk host and he even let us relax in the TV room with blankets and tea untill our room was ready.
They had great knowledge on the local area and were so friendly.
There was a free simple breakfast included and you could help yourself to kitchen facilities.

L.This was my favorite hostel I stayed in during my time in New Zealand. The facilities are clean, breakfast is included, there is an incredible theatre room, and people will remember you when you return. The only downside is that the location is a bit out of the way from the Cuba Street and Waterfront areas. But it is a nice walk or a quick bus ride away. I would highly recommend a stay at the Dwellington.
M.We booked at the Dwellington for 7 people aged between 6 and 70. Initially I was cautious about having the very young and my aged crumbly mother in a hostel, but in every way it was FANTASTIC!! I have travelled extensively and stayed in hundreds of hostels around the world. The Dwellington without question is easily ranked in my top 5 and quite possibly takes out #1.
Pre - arrival communication was fast and stress free.
Harry on reception is a legendary bloke who went out of his way to be accommodating. He put kids movies in the theatre for the boys, loaded Mum with extra blankets and welcomed us to make full use of all the facilities between check out and our evening flight. The rest of the staff and guests were all fantastic too.
The whole place is clean, comfortable, homely and very user friendly. The kitchen and its amenities have given me kitchen envy. The breakfast was a fabulous way to start the day. Lounge, games, tennis court, movie room - just perfect.
Such a treat having clean, ample bathrooms with high pressure showers with unlimited hot water, hair dryers, fresh clean towels, delicious smelling soap....

D.Unlike any other hotel I've stayed in. It's like a hotel and a house combined together. Nice staff. Beautiful kitchen with everything you could need. Has good spaces for hanging out which is important to me. The beds each have their own outlets and lights which is almost too nice. Bathrooms always clean. The shared one even had hair dryers And a straightener plus fresh face towels. Not to mention the hammock in the back. They were doing a settlers of catan night which was awesome. The only thing is the walk into town but I found it was well worth it

C.Best hostel in New Zealand. Staff were great, Noah was extremely accommodating and an all around cool guy. Area is beyond safe (wedged right between the American and Chinese embassies) and parking was surprisingly not difficult. Few spots in front of the Dwellington and several on the street that are rarely full. They were playing the superbowl when I arrived as well so I was able to see the end of it. Good atmosphere and the free breakfast was among the best I’ve seen at any hostel anywhere.
J.Quality hostel. Right from the start the experience is a great one. The building looks fantastic, not something you look for in a hostel, but a nice bonus. You then enter the building and get welcomed by the whoever is on reception. The kitchen and living room areas are massive and well stocked. The tennis courts and outside area are a beautiful addition. Then we get to the beds. Pure perfection! Best couple of nights sleep I got on my trip. Hot shower with good pressure. WiFi is good. Probably one if the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in.

K.Long overdue but fully necessary. Myself and two friends booked a stay at the Dwellington from Nov. 28th - Dec. 1 and it was the first and best Hostel we had ever experienced to date. The check-in process was exceptionally easy, the rooms were spacious and there were drawers to put our items with latches so we may lock our items securely away. The kitchen area was phenomenal, stocked with breakfast items and bins to put our own food in should we have something specific in mind. On the 29th we were informed that there was going to be a Thanksgiving Pot Luck for those staying which was extremely comforting as myself and our friends were away from home at that time, and thus got to spend it with a group of people from all over the world. The theatre was spacious and relaxing with reclining chairs. The location is also fantastic! There's a grocery market within walking distance, as well as downtown Wellingon, restaurants, museums and shops. The Front Desk also checked up on us and let us know when our Tour Bus had arrived for one of the tours we had booked and coordinated a pick up at the Hostel. All in all, it was a very welcoming and relaxing experience and the best way to have ended our Holiday. Thank you to the team for such an amazing atmosphere! Really top notch.

A.This place is so great, I wish I could have stayed longer but they were fully booked abd I can easily understand why. Probably the best backpackers’ place I ever stayed in and definitely the best one in Wellington. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who showed me around, even offered to help me with my luggage, brought me a towel and took the time to show me places of interest in the city. The showers were great, they even have cotton buds and face towels.
The best thing though was breakfast. When I got to the kitchen, I was asked if I wanted some waffles! They were delicious! And there were lots of other options like eggs, bread with spreads, cereals, etc.
The only negative was that people were being noisy and I found it hard to fall asleep. I don’t know if it’s a party place as such but definitely on the young scale.
Still, highly recommend it if you’re visiting Wellington. No need to look anywhere else.
A.Lovely hostel - good WiFi, clean beds and bathrooms, delicious breakfast (with omelettes!), spacious kitchen, and really friendly staff! Also - I was told that they don’t have lockers, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they do have locking drawers under the bed which are just as good. Only downside is that is pretty far away (30 minute walk) to the center of town, which is a shame because it’s such a great hostel otherwise.
D.This place is unlike any backpackers I've ever stayed in! It's squeaky clean, cozy and modern. Breakfast of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cereals, fruit, toast and eggs is included in the rate and weekends you get an omelette made for you. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.
E.The Dwellington was a lovely place to land for a few nights in Wellington. The welcoming and helpful staff, the gorgeous building and interior, the delicious (and free!) breakfast, all the extra touches (ample hang-out space, a guitar!, a movie theater, fresh towels, the wallpaper in the bathroom, etc.), made the higher-than-normal-hostel-price well worth it. I didn't want to leave!
c.Lovely hostel with a complete breakfast included. Fully stocked kitchen, tennis courts, lounge with a guitar, and hammock outside if you like the wind. Very welcoming staff and atmosphere. The only "disadvantage" is it's located bit to far north the downtown area ~30 min walk to Te Papa.

There's a big cinema (tv room they call it, but that doesn't cover it) with chairs more comfortable than in a normal cinema, where you can watch Netflix. A luxurious breakfast is included and the location is superb too. Eggs of your choice are served (free range and fresh). Also, in the bathroom you'll find cotton facial towels. There's limited free parking right in front of the hostel and a few spots on the street.
I highly recommend staying here.
We stayed here with our 2 young kids and they had fun running around in the garden.
There are long termers too in this hostel. They have their own shared fridge and other stuff. But you don't have the feeling they 'own' the place. You feel very welcome.

l.Best hostel I've been to so far. Homely vibes, it isn't overcrowded and the small details make you feel comfortable Eg. A reading light by each bunk bed and your own plug. The kitchen, pots, pans and cutlery are organised and clean. There's also a lawn, lounge and TV room to hang out in. The beds are really comfortable too! Def will come back when I'm in Wellington again.
K.Fanciest hostel I’ve ever been to! The kitchen was my favorite part, but the huge communal eating table, the movie room, and the staff were also 5/5!! The receptionist offered to give us a ride to the ferry (it is an awkward walk from hostel) and since she ended up being too busy, she paid for our Uber to the ferry! Exceptional hostel. Worth every penny, and it’s really not much more than others! It’s an easy walk to downtown from there too.

It's a social, clean and modern place with a great kitchen, comfy beds, and has awesome bathrooms with hairdryers, straighteners, flannels etc. The whole place feels so relaxed: the staff are friendly and helpful, it's peaceful, there aren't any rude notices around the place like there are in so many hostels, and it's not crowded. I really don't want to leave!

They also have an access to the tennis court next door. If you are in Wellington, just go stay here because it feels like home.

T.This is a very nice hostel, with working Internet, right in front of the US Embassy. So if you have business there, and you need to wake up early, this is your best option. Also, the New World supermarket which is the best supermarket in Thorndon is right across the street. (If you are a water buff you can try Antipodes from there). On the other side of the new world you can find the best hair dresser in Wellington. (I tried a lot of them.) The railway station is at 5 min distance -you get the shuttle for the Interislander ferry there, and also the airport bus no91. But remember that Thorndon is not like Te Aro which right at the center of the city. To go to city center or to go to Cuba street you need to walk 20 min. (or take a bus and be there in 5.)

Große Badezimmer mit vielen Annehmlichkeiten, sehr sauber, unglaublich nette Mitarbeiter. Liegt im Regierungsviertel, ist aber vom Hafen und Busbahnhof vom IC gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Es gibt auch ein Shuttleservice zu den Fähren. Für mich wirklich das beste Hostel, in dem ich je war.
