c.This hostel is big and seems more like a cheap hotel, than a hostel. The kitchen is big but not well stalked or clean. There are no shared spices and no way to label your food. However, there was a small refrigerator in my room so I kept my food in there. The bathrooms are dorm style and kept relatively clean. You do not have control over the heat or power in your shower as it is turned on by a switch, which I did not like.
Great location in central Wellington. Close to shopping, bus lines, Cuba street, Te Papa, and the wharf. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable.
A.Very reasonably priced. Rooms don't have air conditioning and can be rather stuffy but it was tolerable. Others may not find it so tolerable. There is a fan provided in the room which is handy for sleeping as it provides white noise. Hostel wasn't very noisy but we didn't have a street facing room. Rooms are tidy and come with nice amenities.
A.Brilliant location, no frills stay. If you are looking for something simple and affordable, this place is worth trying. The staff certainly keeps the premises clean, same cannot be said about some guests unfortunately. Cleaning up after you're done with your business in common areas is something one should always ensure.
The staff is very helpful and friendly, will book again for sure.
T.It was clean. Fantastic location. It was difficult to find out which floor they are on. I had to ask a security guard. It is the third floor. Do not arrive between 12 and 1 as there will be no one at reception. It is too hot at night so they have put free standing heater/coolers in each room. The rooms are very sound proof. The bathroom has a few issues eg. No space to put toiletries down.
K.I checked in at 10pm and out at 7am so only stayed one night. Very conveniently located on Dixon street especially when catching bus to amd from airport. Best location right next to Cuba and Courtenay for bars amd restaurants and the museum, wharf etc.
My room number 21 was adequate. Bed was comfort, room was very clean, no bad smell (except from.the room next to mine which was illegally smoking a cigarette). Good fan and ventilation seemed okay.
I can see how people will complain though. There really is no natural light anywhere in the building and no air conditioning. The place lacks character and vibe. The lift and reception are particularly shabby and uninviting.
However, it is a budget hostel so keep that in mind when booking. The toilet paper is budget, people walking the halls all night, thin walls and shared facilities. Personally i would not stay more than one night and consider it well overpriced for the standard.
I cannot comment on showers as I purposely didnt shower. To be honest they didnt look great. I stayed there simply because I wanted to catch bus for early flight next morning.
T.My room was warm and dry. It was mostly clean, some food stains on the carpet and areas of holes in the carpet. The bedding was clean, but it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever paid to sleep on. You could feel all the wires of the springs down the centre of the mattress, which hurt my ribs by day three. The microwave and toasters were broken, although they did replace them. The lift was broken. A few of the showers were broken and one smelt vile everyday!!!. The sanitary disposal units in the toilets were always overflowing. However, it was central to everything, and the buses were amazing. It had everything I needed and was cheap. I could of overlooked the bad things if the bed was comfy. Good for one or two days.
A.Well managed, very clean, fully equipped, with modern interior. The amenities are aplenty, reasonable quality furniture. The bed is excellent, and reasonably new too. They're 2 nagging things: 1) most rooms don't have windows, so if you're that sort of person that need windows then this place is definitely not for you. Unless if you're willing to add $10/night extra. 2) somehow the bathroom door keep sliding; you can use the extra towel to keep it on its place/open, though.
E.No frills accomodation in central Wellington, not bad not good either. I booked a single private room, it was clean and basic, the place is a little old. There was a big, brown water stain on the roof that kind of ruined the vibe of the room.
The staff were nice enough, the hall ways winding and long and seems pretty easy to get locked out if you leave and the front doors lock - my swipe card failed and I had to wait for people to leave to get back in. All in all, it served its purpose functionally without leaving a strong impression.
M.Nice and tidy dorms. I am at a place where they have 4 people in a room. Decent kitchen and neat washrooms. But the rooms are so congested and there are so many of them its so confusing at first. It gets very very warm in the night in summer because the root is so low. It hit my head when I try to sit on my bed on the second deck. Not really great but yeah. If you get a decent deal why not.
C.Pretty good "hostel" location. It's pretty well maintained especially for a business building converted to hotel units. The upside is definitely the cleanliness, convenience of the location in Wellington and the clean shared facilities. They provided free WiFi, TV (with channels), mini fridge and towels!
Downside, our unit had no windows as they were the center units (but other units have windows).
E.Decent place with everything you would need, just not high quality. For example, they have knives for cutting food, but they are all extremely dull. They have beds for you to sleep on, but they have absolutely no support in the anymore. Over all decent, but be prepared to use your own knives and can openers, as well as a little fan, because the rooms are hot and stuffy. Good location.
J.Good. Reception was friendly and informative. Location of the hostel was perfect to all the must see tourist attractions and Cuba St's food and cafes. In the rabbit warren of rooms the signage is good and easy to read. Corridors, shared female bathrooms are all clean. Only problem is no paper hand towel or drier to dry hands after going to the toilet. Showers have a button to push to start the water and it is on a 7min timer. Thats ok if you have short or no hair to wash. Large clean kitchen that has plenty of tables to eat a meal and watch TV.
I had a single room with shared bathroom facilities. Room was clean, king single bed with crisp clean bedding, TV with free to air TV channels, bar frig, kettle with tea and coffee, heater, fan, small open wardrobe, desk and chair. What it needed was a lamp on the bedside table.
All in all, I was very satisfied with The Set Up on Dixon.
L.The apartment within The Setup
Is something else. Its an amazing place. My colleagues and I didn’t end up going out but stayed inside. Only issue is the corridor and lift to the apartment is shabby and needs work done. BUT we will all be back on out next trip to Wellington
J.Place was tidy. Room needed a proper window i could open or aircon because it felt like there was no air getting into the room. Not enough plugs to charge phones etc. Bathroom was messy with everyone having showers and just dumping their towels on the ground. Couldn't sleep properly because kids running up and down the hallways.
J.Cheap accommodation. No air con. in rooms. Bad air cycle. Excellent location.
The place is easy to find and is near most of the best attractions. This is good, because you won't want to spend time in your room except sleep. Most of the rooms don't have windows, some do, but they connect to an indoor room-like area that has one small window outside. All in all the lack of aircon and lacking fresh air cycling it's not a very good place to stay inside.
The place is clean and has a good amount of showers and toilets and they are cleaned daily. They have WiFi, but it's limited to 500mb / day (all together from the start of your stay). You can buy more quota, but it gets quite expensive. The city has a lot of free WiFi spots however.
T.The location of this hotel is pretty nice. And bathroom was tidy. In addition, my room had enough items(a TV, an air conditioner, etc) to stay, however, locker couldn't be locked...only one thing I wasn't satisfied.
B.This is not a hotel but more like a dormitory. Rooms are clean and comfortable but service is very limited. Rooms are cleaned once a week and there is no room service or staff overnight. It is clean and in a great location but the rooms on the street side are nosy especially on weekends. The price is low but considering the very basic service actually seems too expensive. Shared kitchens are dirty like a backpackers, no room phones and wifi is very unreliable.
V.Centrally located with good transport options. Very close to all the bars and restaurants on Dixon Street. Not hard to find. Convenient parking at cheap rates. Friendly reception staff. Easy and quick check-in and check-out process. Only down-sides were no AC (got very hot in afternoon), only an oil heater, and the hot beverage tray was dirty, with a used teaspoon on it (an oversight I would say). Most definitely coming back to stay here and would recommend to friends.
S.Very close to main city and Cuba street. Room is clean, well furnished, good size for double. Good facilites including laundry and large kitchen. However showers lack hooks/holders and limited parking spaces outside (free from 6pm-8am).
S.This hostel is relatively clean, and affordable and I LOVE the free WiFi, but the room garbages could be emptied at least once a day, and old towels picked up, etc. Our room is starting to smell moldy as there hasn't been anyone here in a few days I imagine to take all the excess towels lying around. Or, maybe it belongs to the girl who had been staying in this room for a month, either way, they should check in. I think I will mention it to the front if no one comes again today. Lastly, there is one set of important things missing from the top bunk- bed rails on the side facing the floor. Dare not roll around in your bed, for fear of death.
M.Convenient Central location. Very Friendly Service. Good facilities. Breakfast (Subway voucher) included. Free use of Les Mills fitness Centre. I requested a room with a window.
J.Room was warm and clean. Roommate was an angel. They took me in without a reservation. Guests turned kitchen into a pigsty overnight then a couple that cooks together wanted to make breakfast...
J.Way to expensive for what you get. There are no windows in a lot of rooms or there are windows which u are not able to open and because of that the heat stays inside the hostel making it feel like a sauna. They could use their air climate to solve that problem but for any reason they are not even turning it on.
D.Rooms were clean but this place is NOT a hostel as advertised. It's like a massive office building thats been converted into a hotel. The heater in our room was inadequate and we were pretty cold. The wifi is limited to 500mb per room.
P.Very friendly checkout girl. Room was a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. Modern shower and ensuite. Only gripe is lack of spoon to go with tea/coffee facilities.
J.Well situated in the centre of the city. The rooms with bathrooms are a little over priced for what you get. Beds a little lumpy and hard. Stayed mid week and wasn't too noisy off the street.
k.I am here at the moment and I am very relieved that I didn't find what some reviews said... The room and also the bathroom was clean and didn't smell :-) yes, also our room did not have a window... But the location is very nice and as we arrived in the evening and only wanted to sleep here we were happy with it.
C.The Setup has everything a good hostel needs. A good place to lay ones head, a great shower,good tv reception. Close to amenities. Close to Courtney Places where we had a lovely meal at Plum.
M.Affordable. Rooms clean. Within walking distances to most attractions. Excellent bus services close by. Rooms without fans would be uncomfortable in summer as no external ventilation.
B.Nice big clean rooms with TV and WiFi and shared bathrooms. Also has a communal kitchen but could be better equipped. Hotel is in good location near museums, bars and shops.
C.Stayed in a twin room, and it was good enough for just a few days. Beds were alright.
The location is crazy good; 15 min walk to the cable car, 5 min walk to Te Papa and the waterfront.
J.This accommodation was cheap and centrally located. The apartment was clean and well equipped. The beds were quite small but apart from that the accomodation was very good for its price

Only downside would be the lack of a communal area to hang out in.
M.Thank you for your great hospitality,everything was within walking distance for me,i thoroughly enjoyed TePapa,was blown away by the exhibitions,also went on the cable car which was awsome,my only downfall is some of the tourists that stayed at the hostel left the womans bathroom in a mess,i did see the cleaner in the bathroom cleaning which was lovely to walk into after it had cleaned,went back in a hour and a bit later and it was a mess again,some people just dont have any respect for other people,thank you staff at the set up,will be back again sometime
T.Great facility, TV inside the room, clean, comfortable. The only thing is there is no lobby or lounge.

Minha avaliação 3 estrelas é pelo fato do quarto nao ter janela, e era muito quente... e para piorar nao tinha ar condicionado, apenas um pequeno ventilador que ajudava muito mas nao resolvia o problema.

Free Wi-Fi is limited, rooms have no window, kitchen is missing several items for cooking. And even though it says it is eco-friendly, there are no bins to recycle in the kitchen. It is also a very large Hostel which makes it more impersonal.

El Hostel es muy limpio y la habitación en la que estuve (una doble) es muy linda, tiene heladerita, Placard y tv, realmente muy cómoda.
El wifi gratis es limitado, las habitaciones no tienen ventana, en la cocina faltan varios ítems para cocinar. Y a pesar de que dice que es ecofriendly, no hay cestos para reciclar en la cocina. Además es un Hostel muy grande lo cual lo hace más impersonal.

Ganz besonders toll ist die Kooperation mit dem Fitness-Studio Studio im die Ecke. Einfach an der Rezeption einen Gutschein abholen und trainieren. Auch ansonsten ist es eine gute Unterkunft in Wellington. Freundliches Personal, saubere Küche und Bad.
